a lot of confusion in syscourse honestly just comes from people not understanding basic definitions.

plurality is an umbrella term. it refers broadly to experiences of having more than one identity, self, or ‘alters’ in a single body/mind — DID, on the other hand, is a specific, clinically recognised dissociative disorder that falls under that umbrella, not the other way around.

plurality ≠ DID

but DID ⊂ plurality

so when people treat plurality as if it only means DID, or act like all plural experiences have to fit that of a dissociative disorder, they’re using the terms incorrectly, and that is where a lot of confusion comes in.
