Embers : The Night Sky & Uluru Time lapse video 4K from Kartikeya Sharma on Vimeo.
Embers is a short film that showcases the beauty of land and sky of Central Australia, portrayed in a time lapse video. Please click the following link to watch this video in 4K resolution. youtu.be/bWiK3ZUqj50
So,one fine night, I was near Uluru also known as Ayers Rock, star gazing the already popular and beautiful night sky, while the idea and inspiration of creating this video struck me. Following three factors are behind creation of this video. 1) Amber, the Color 2) The Stars 3) à€ à€®à¥à€¬à€° meaning Sky( in Hindi).. Please read on to learn how it all relates with each other.
At specific times of the day, land and Uluru appears to be Amber colored. Crack of Sunrise, and fall of light around sunset renders the scene gleaming orange and gold as Spinifex, the local plants that form major portion of the landscape, glows resembling embers. After darkness takes over, million stars and Milky way decoration in the beautiful and majestic and crystal clear, massive night sky takes your attention at the center stage.. Each star is visible so bright and sharp, emanating light like sparks of fire.
In Hindi (my mother language), the word à€ à€®à¥à€¬à€° means Sky, is very similar to be spoken Amber written in English.
Considering the above 3, filming of this video began on 12th July 2015, and last sequence was filmed on 22nd August 2015. Must say, I have a special interest in night sky, which you will notice in the video. Some sequences in the video show stars trailing and they appear as raining. If human eyes could see it happening, it will be amazing to watch. Unfortunately we cant see it that way, Luckily advanced cameras these days can record the trail pattern of the stars and with help of specialist software's the revolving and trailing motion of stars can be recorded and seen. This whole period of filming was hard as working as a full time Chef, and still chasing weather around the clock is never easy, Harsh climate makes it worse, as few nights I had to brave temperatures as low as 1 degree Celsius. Sleeping in car, while camera took sequential images for video, became normal on countless nights. Fatigued and under slept, I was drained of energy on many days at my normal full time job. But its all a small price for a passionate hobby I took up only about a year ago.
A sincere thanks to the Anangu People, the traditional owners of the sacred land for sharing this place with us.
Embers is my 2nd only major time lapse production. I still have a lot to learn and practice, Music in the video is composed by Jonathan Wright.
Please leave feedback about the video and share your views and ideas.. Don't forget to share it among your friends and family.

Forgotten Spaces: Wyoming's Red Desert from Wyoming Wilderness on Vimeo.
For more information visit: wildwyo.org facebook.com/WyomingWilderness?ref=aymt_homepage_panel vimeo.com/111562170
Forgotten Spaces: Wyoming's Red Desert showcases special wild landscapes in Wyoming's Red Desert including but not limited to, the Honeycomb Buttes WSA, Oregon Buttes WSA, Whitehorse Creek WSA, Sand Dunes WSA, and Harris Slough. This is only a small sampling of the scenic values contained in the Red Desert. The landscapes within this vast expanse of southwest Wyoming are comparable to national parks in other states.
While you view the spectacular Red Desert please keep in mind that the Red Desert currently has no long term legal protection that will adequately protect its values from thoughtless oil and gas development. Wyoming Wilderness Association (WWA) is working to change this. Our work is motivated by the values of the Red Desert and our supporters that make our work possible. Please support our work to protect these values and donate.
A sampling of the Red Desert values your donation will help protect include:
-The ancient Lake Gosiute formerly covered much of Southwest Wyoming including the Red Desert. Consequently, the observant explorer may discover shells of ancient turtles or even fossilized alligator bones, testaments to the rich ecological history of the area.
-Red Desert travelers can visit the remnants of South Pass Stage Road, a passage carved in the sand by westward bound settlers on the Oregon Trail.
-Wyomingâs last remaining desert elk herd and the largest desert elk herd in the lower 48 is found in the Red Desert.
- The largest pronghorn herd in the lower 48 can be found in the Red Desert.
-The northern Red Desert is home to nine Wilderness Study Areas which feature untouched badlands, hoodoos, vast expanses of a pristine sagebrush ecosystem, dune fields, and rock outcrops
-The largest migratory sand dune formation in North America is found in the Red Desert.
-The only other comparable example of a pristine sagebrush steppe ecosystem is found in Mongolia. The sagebrush steppe ecosystem is one of the most endangered in the world.
-The Red Desert contains the largest un-fenced expanse found in the lower 48.

Night Sky Timelapse Tutorial by Dustin Farrell from Dustin Farrell on Vimeo.
Shooting and processing clean, sharp, noise-free night timelapse scenes is very difficult. I've spent hundreds of hours figuring out the recipe for stunning night timelapse images. In this 20 minute tutorial I share with you a majority of the information that I have learned from several years of trial and error of shooting in dark and remote areas.
