Along a broken road | Jaedgar&Vaalete || Day 3
Jeadgar looked at his beloved as he took a deep breathe. He couldn’t imagine leaving her , he couldn’t imagina her leaving him. Dying , trying to save her life. Maybe the guilt was killing that girl , because she didn’t do anything to save her beloved. Jeadgar didn’t even try to imagina what he was going to do without Vaalete. It was a painful world , only in black and white. There were no colours , there was no her laugh to cheer him up. It was something he couldn’t handle. That’s why he was thinking to break his promise. This promise was something he didn’t wanted to keep.
He frooze as he heard her words. What if he died ? Leaving her behind all alone in this unknown world. Who was going to protect her ? Be by her side when she needed someone to stay with her , a shoulder to cry ? Looking in the girl he knew that he was the most important person in his life and he didn’t wanted that to happen to Vaalete too. The things were getting complicated , because he was trying to think of the right choice , without getting a selfish decision. But it seemed like there was no right choice. " No. I didn’t want you to be alone. Never." he said as he kissed her forehead and closed his eyes.
The next day they were searching and hiding the whole day. He was looking for Aurora too. Now she had nobody and he knew that she need someone to protect her. The other thing he knew was that she couldn’t stay with them. They were trying to be low , quiet and he was focusing all of his energy to do that while she was there walking like a shadow. A shadow with no soul. Like an empty shell and it was scaring him. Would this happened to Vaalete if she lost him ? He didn’t wanted this for her and he hoped that she was stronger than Aurora. Looking at Vaalete who was trying to hide her pain , he was thinking how to make her wounds heal faster. Was there a way to find a cure ? There was nothing around them and they were barely finding food.
Jeadgar tried to sleep , because he knew that he should , it was the only thing which was helping him to stay in shape. But he was worried about so many things and he couldn’t sleep for more than two hours. But at least it was something. Looking at Vaalete he was praying only for one thing - her life. " We should." he said as he smilled back. " Is everything alright ?" he asked , because he was feeling like something wasn’t okay.
She nodded and began getting up, feeling a bit woozy as they hadn't really gotten much food, the apples barely enough for three throats to feed. She cleaned her suit from the black dust and smiled tired. "Good. I need more black coal. We'll win this" she said with fake enthusiasm for the cameras. She had to give some explanations to the Capitol. She didn't want them to be sure what she was making until it was too late. Her tracker was in her shoe and she was going to have to find a way to get rid of Jaedgar's before they ran too. If... if they ran.
"Yeah. I just feel tired" she lied with her stomach tight and a lump in her throat. She wasn't lying. She was tired. And if she had lied... she knew he'd know. She had never been able to lie. Not to him. Not to anyone. Part of who she was, just like she had never been able to swear or use bad words, especially when they were meant to offend a person. She reached with her hand on which the ring hung on her finger and smiled, squeezing his. "You can go search for food today? I'll keep around and search coals" she suggested with a smile. She looked worriedly at Aurora. "She needs something to do. Or she'll loose herself" Vaalete noted and frowned sadly

Along a broken road | Jaedgar&Vaalete || Day 3
He wrapped his arms aroun her tiny little body and smiled. " I love you too.More than you could ever imagine." he said as he looked at the girl who was sleeping next to them. Part of him was feeling sorry for her , knowing that if he lost Vaalete he would be broken. But the other part of him was telling him that she was only deadly weight. She was in shock and Jeadgar knew that she won’t forget about her beloved so easily. If she was walking with them around or if they tried to help her , she would be a danger for them. He didn’t wanted to risk Vaalete’s life and the only escape for the other girl was the death. Killing her wasn’t the best decision , but there was no other choice. It was her or Vaalete and he wouldn’t think twice about it.
Looking at Vaalete”s warming eyes , knowing that she was one of the best people he ever knew , he thought that maybe she will never forgive him if he killed the girl. " Vaalete ?" he looked down for a moment , trying to tell her what he was thinking in the most comfortable way. Honesty was something important for both of them and he never lied to her before. " Is she coming with us ?" he wrapped his arms around her tightly , waiting for Vaalete’s answer.
A small smile spread on her full lips at his words. That was all she wanted to know. And she knew it, now that the ring was hanging around her finger. Maybe they'd have a chance to get married? Or if not... she'd watch him from above marrying some other girl and be happy as he carried on and had the children she wanted to give him. Her gaze flew to the sleeping girl next to them and her smile faded a bit. Aurora had what she'd feared the most now. She was going through the worst moment.... the worst thing. She was sad that if she'd fail she would make Jaedgar feel like that, but she had no choice. She'd give herself no choice.
"Mhm" her light eyes turned to her beloved's face. She smiled, though she could feel the tender tone behind his voice. "Yes. She needs us right now... I knew Fir. It's a awful loss" she said as her fingers caressed his skin and she settled more comfortably in his arms. She smiled again as she yawned. "When we must we'll leave her behind. But she's in shock right now... imagine I had lost you. Would you want someone to leave me back? " she shivered just by the though of that. She closed her eyes, listening to his answer.
The next day was tiring. They searched through rocks and tried to stay low and quiet, afraid there might be wandering careers around. Vaalete gathered some of the found sulphur in a piece of her clothing she tore from her arena suit and mainly tried to pretend as if her leg and palms did not hurt. They wandered for a long while and searched, while Aurora just lingered behind as if she wasn't really there. She reminded Vaalete of Fir... with his mental attitude sometimes. That day they did find coal, but it was too little and she knew they had to search. She was worried if the Capitol would get worried of the search and think of what she was trying to do. That same night she laid between Jaedgar in the sleeping bag and took his sword to try and cut in her shoulder to get out the tracker.
In the morning, her eyes fluttered open and she could feel that wound like it was burning. She wrapped her shoulder and then looked up at Jaedgar, hiding everything with one of her sweet smile. "Do we go on?"
Along a broken road | Jaedgar&Vaalete || Day 1
Jaedgar was looking at the girl who was coming. Feeling the touch of Vaalete he knew that she was warning him that Aurora was no danger , but he wasn't thinking that. They were here , because of surviving and anyone wanted to survive. Even if it meant to kill someone else and he knew that he won’t let anyone to hurt his love anymore. " What do you want from us ?" he said in a harsh tone. Usually he was a friendly person , to one who was always ready to help. Always ready to listen. But when it came to Vaalete , he knew he had to protect her no matter what. He was still holding the sword. Anyone who was coming was a danger and he didn't knew what Aurora wanted.
She blinked at Jaedgar and sighed with a smile. She loved when he was like that, even if it scared her too. "I'm glad you came out from the bloodbath alive Aurora" Vaalete said and limped around Jaedgar so his long hands couldn't catch her fast enough as she went to the redheaded girl and saw her shivering and crying. She knew the answer of her question now. "I'm sorry" the tiny girl opened her arms for the District 5 tribute and hugged her shaking body calmingly and lovingly, knowing that if Jaedgar had died she wouldn't be just shaking, but she wouldn't be able to move... to breath.
After half an hour they kept on with the walk, though she could feel her leg hurting more as time passed. It was around twilight when she finally couldn't walk anymore and she fell on a rock, breathing heavy and put the bag next to her. "Can we camp?" she asked as she went through the bag again, searching for that one bottle of water she was caving for so badly. She put the bag where her head would be and patted the hard ground next to her. This was an uncomfortable change from the soft rocks. She saw the ginger girl go to sleep immediately and was hoping that for a while she'd forget about the pain of loosing Fir and cuddled in Jaedgar's safe and strong arms. "I love you..." she whispered and smiled, humming a familiar tone
Along a broken road | Jaedgar&Vaalete || Day 1
Jeadgar took her face in his hands as he looked her in the eyes. He knew that she was understanding when he was telling the truth , because she knew him better than anyone else. " Vaalete Wiadlis I promised you. You know I am keeping my promises." There was something else that was bothering him , would he really keep his promises if it came down to her life ? He knew that he promised her to be alive , but if she wasn’t there with him - there was no point in living. Jeadgar loved his family , he knew that he have to take care for this family. But would this family be enough if Vaalete died ? " We will." he said , taking her hand in his as they start walking. Trying to hide his real fears , he put a smile on his face. He blamed himself for promising her. Why he did that ? It was unfair. When she gave him the sword , he took it and kissed her soft lips. " Thank you." kissing her forehead , he kept walking until he heard another canon blow. He didn’t stop until he heard that actually someone was coming. " Stay behind me." he said , holding the sword in his hand.
Vaa hid behind him, looking as a small girl hiring. She felt small and fragile around him. She always had with her height. She got an arrow on the bow's string and pulled it with her small but strong hands, ready to shoot from behind him as her sharp look moved down the rock surface. "Aurora ?!" she asked as she tilted her head next ro her beloved's shoulder. "Where's Fir?!" she asked as the readhaired girl stumbled up the rocks. Vaalete stood still but let Jaedgar know with a touch that she was mo danger.
Along a broken road | Jaedgar&Vaalete || Day 1
Hearing the moans of pain escaping her mouth , he was trying his best to concentrate on the wounds which seemed worst than he thought. Pulling the arrow from her leg , he hoped that soon he would find something , something to help her with the wounds. But they've got nothing. They didn't even have a first aid kit. It was feeling like he was failing at protecting her and for him that was a shame. He couldn't protect the only person whom he loved more than himself. Wrapping his arms around her tiny body , he kissed her forehead. " You are not failing us , Vaalete. If you weren't here with me , probably I would have been dead already." kissing her lips softly , he let her out of his arms just for a moment. Ripping of a part of his shirt , he made a bandage around her leg where the worst wound was. Hugging her again he looked at her eyes. " You are not failing us , okay ? You are the strongest girl I have ever known and I want you to stay like this. We will survive this."
"Don't you dare say that" she hit his shoulder and frowned. "Even if I wasn't here you're not dying! You have a family to take care at home. Don't you dare Jaedgar Oakpeta! You promised me" she said with a pleading tone as he worked on her leg, distracting her thoughts from the pain. She blushed and nodded, burying her face in his neck for a while and kissing his rough skin. "We need to find something. I have to work on... it" she said as she got up, limping slightly with her left leg and took his hand, packing all the things and throwing her bow over her shoulder. She got a small but obviously deadly sword out of her sleeve, still in its pocket "I got you this while running" she smiled cheerfully, not letting all the black thoughts hover her thoughts and she pinned her gaze to the earth as they walked, hunting for coal. Time to test her love of experiments big time. She heard another canon blow behind them and flinched, wondering who will show in the sky tonight
Along a broken road | Jaedgar&Vaalete
When her body sprung up in his arms , his eyes were filled with horror , they everything was happening in slow motion. As her tiny body hit the ground , he opened his mouth to say something , to scream , but there was nothing as he watched her. The knew cuts made him cursing himself , for not holding her tight enough. When he sensed the sulphurous scent , he looked at her and touched her hand which was on his jaw. " We can." he repeated as he looked her in the eyes. When she took off her backpack , he shook his head. " You are hurt." he said as he came closer to her , kneeling down. " Can I see how bad is it first ? There is time for everything , but you are hurt , Vaalete and we can't ignore it." he said as he took her hand in his and kissed her forehead gently. Worried was not even close to describe the way he was feeling now.
Vaalete rolled her eyes playfully but let him check her wounds. The most it hurt when he pulled out the arrow from her leg, and she weeped quietly from pain, but stood till so he can check on the other wounds. It wasn't really useful if they didn't have first aid kit. She sat there on the rocks, watching up the sky and pretending he just caressed the soft skin under her knee, not try to get what was left from the wooden arrow. She pursed her lips and when he was finished just leaned in his arms and let the tears on her cheeks be dried from his arenasuit. She sighed. "I'm sorry I'm failing us from the start" she whispered as she wrapped her arms tight around his middle, the sun still shining bright in the middle of the sky... It was still not even afternoon. They had to find shelter. And see if they had food. Or they would have to hunt... But how would she hunt with this leg?
Along a broken road | Jaedgar&Vaalete
He was running as fast as he could , trying to avoid every trap which was on his way. Everything was going through his head so fast that he wasn’t able to think clear. He was trying to keep himself alive , not because he life was the most imporant thing - the most imporant thing was his love’s life. Vaalete was the most imporant person in his life and he didn’t wanted to lose her , that’s why he was running so fast , trying to avoid every weapon , every trap and every person who was on his way. “Stay alive." he said whispering. " Please stay alive." as he was losing his breathe , running faster and faster. He was afraid of the fact he promised her not to let her win and he knew he can’t break his promise , not to her. But he didn’t wanted to win if she wasn’t there to enjoyed it with him. That’s why he had a plan , if she didn’t win , none of them would win. Jeadgard didn’t care about the win , because he knew that there is no life without Vaalete. " Vaalete." he screamed when he saw her , he could see that she was hurt. His heart skiped a beat when he saw how she fell. He wanted to kill this person who hurted her , but he knew they didn’t have much time. He stopped to her as he picked her up , pushing her closer to his chest. " Everything will be fine , I know you are a strong girl and it’s just a scratch " he knew it wasn’t just that and it could be bad , his heart was breaking as he was seeing in what kind of pain she was , but right now he knew he had to find a safe place. Kissing her forehead softly he started running again as fast as he could with her in his arms.
"I'm alive. I promise" she breathed out as she felt his familiar arms wrap around her tiny body and carry her up the rocky mountain and away from the bloodbath. She snuggled in his arm, trying to ignore the itching feeling in her leg. She was such a badluck person lately... Why did she think she can handle it. She took in his scent and felt her eyes fill. She wanted home to her sisters! And to the woods. And to pappa and momma. Then, her nose felt a different scent. Her body sprung up in his arms, making him drop her. But she did not mind the new cuts on her palms which took most of the impact. She kneeled and sniffed again with a smile, sensing a sulphurous scent. She looked up at Jaedgar, rising one hand to caress his strong jaw and her smile widened. "We can do it" she said, more sure... she needed nitrate, cause she knew that where was sulphur, there was coal. Or at least in most cases. And then nitrate... that was hard, but if he helped her look she may find. Vaalete crawled to the direction from where the faint smell emerged when she felt the sharp pain in the back of her leg, where the arrow had hit. "Jae?" she looked up at his handsome face and frowned as she tried to turn and sit. She took off the giant backpack and smiled. "Let's see what we got?" she said quietly, knowing he would figure out it hurt her. She just hoped he'd ignore it for now... no matter how low the possibility of that was
