Hi there! Welcome to the chaos that is my brain! I honestly don't pay much attention to couples. I'm not a shipper. I care more about the plot and mystery, and what they're all doing to figure out the mystery. Sure, the couples do cute things sometimes, but they're not the focus, and it bothers me that so many people make them the focus instead of the actual plot happening.

I mean the whole damn point of the Nativity story is that the supposed son of God (interpret Jesus how you fucking want, of course) was born to a couple of poor, exhausted peasants in the stable for the inn, and his first bed was a feeding trough for animals. That would nowadays be like a poor couple where the mother gives birth in a parking garage behind the motel because they couldn’t find a better place and nobody else would take them in. It’s a pretty gritty setting, and the idea is that God was reborn in some of the rock-bottom lowest circumstances. The only thing majestic was all the angels and shit, and of course motherly love

I get that a lot of the art portraying Madonna and Child as fabulously wealthy europeans in splendid robes and golden light was meant to glorify God + whichever nobility was sponsoring the artist, and while of course it’s genuinely beautiful art, it just always struck me as horribly missing the point, which is that the supposed son of God started in incredibly humble circumstances, among the kind of people that everyone else looks down on

‘Massacre des Innocents’ by Leon Cogniét, 1824. Although the Feast of the Holy Innocents is in a couple of days time, this painting is still really relevant in that it portrays Mary as how She really was: a scared refugee mum, so fearful that Her son was going to be one of the Innocents killed by King Herod.

I had to look at this like FIVE TIMES to register all the layers of symbolism going into the piece by Patterson.

I'v been letting myself feel however I feel when I feel it. Sad, angry, tired, hyper. But now, instead of drowning in it, swirling down until i'm burnt out. I adapt my environment to what I know helps, before this can happen.

If I feel the need to cry, I let myself cry instead of holding it in. Then I breath and take time to make and sip some tea.

If I feel angry, I let myself rant and mumble under my breath whilst I clean something. Then I breath and take time to make and sip some tea.

If I feel tired, I let myself day dream a bit more. Go a bit slower. I plan for the night and how i'll make sure to have the coziest sleep. Then I breath and take time to make and sip some tea.

If I feel hyper and distracted, I move, jump, I clean. I keep my mind active and learning. Then, yes, I sip some tea.

Tea does feel like a warm hug but the key to this is listening to my body and mind. And then acting on that to make sure it knows its been heard, or else it will just keep yelling. So far, i feel less like i'm arguing with myself and more like i'm befriending myself. I love myself so much but now its time to show it.

Hey everyone are you ready for yet another round of AI BULLSHIT well I've got a doozy for you: YouTube has decided to automatically "upscale low-quality videos" with AI, fundamentally altering your viewing experience as a consumer and hobbling your freedom as a creator.

How to opt out as a creator:

Go to YouTube Studio, click on Settings, then click on Channel

Click on Advanced Settings

Uncheck "Let YouTube enhance visual quality"

Uncheck "Let YouTube enhance audio quality"

How to opt out as a viewer:

Click on Settings

Go to Quality

Make sure the AI-enhanced option (dubbed 'Super Resolution') has been switched to "original resolution"

Why this matters:

Aside from adding an incredible amount of energy burn to content without the creator's knowledge, a lot of content was made to be viewed at their original resolution for a reason. No one wants to watch Marble Hornets on 'Super Resolution'. A number of creators have noticed this already happening to YouTube Shorts, where AI-upscaling has led to inaccuracies in technical demonstrations and odd visual distortions.

By hobbling a creator's ability to control what their final product looks like, creators cannot rely on the platform to present their work as intended. It should be an outrage, frankly, to anyone who relies on YouTube to share their work or enjoy the works of others.
