My Jill is pretty heavily based off the SD Perry books. I’ll probably expand on that point at a later date, but if you haven’t read them, Jill grew up with her father who was a master thief and that’s how she became skilled at lockpicking, as well as General Sneakery™. After her father was arrested, she became a police officer, and then was contacted and offered a job with STARS. Otherwise I'm here to dink around and have fun, so I'm happy to match whatever hc's you have for your character (esp other STARS members).

I kind of hate doing the faceclaim thing, so I decided I’m not going to! I will match whatever length you want to set.

Damn, she loves having a partner that she doesn't have to keep an eye on constantly. She doesn't usually get to work with the senior officers at the BSAA very often, usually she's paired up with a rookie that needs a good set of eyes on them, even for a milk run. This is like. The complete opposite of that. Even among the senior officers, she unequivocally trusts like, four of them with her life when it comes down to it. Even fewer people outside the organization have that 'honor', and honestly, the list is kind of just him, Sherry, and Claire.

Nothing on the computer is especially shocking. Sales receipts, meetings that have happened, or will happen. Stuff they can pass on to the DSO and BSAA. She pulls all of it onto a USB and turns back to Leon, who she watches for a moment before speaking up. "Got everything over here. You?"

Leon smiled as she went to the computer, leaving him with the task of gathering up the flammables. A fun job, he might add - he couldnt wait to cause a little havoc. The old man so rarely got to hinder the remnants of Umbrella often. And, it was nice to have a reliable partner for once. Not a damsel that needed him to watch her - or a overeager kid. Briefly he thought of a old partner he had once, for one mission - but that memory was old and fuzzy at this point that her face didn't come up right. It only caused him to pause briefly before he grabbed another tank. He would look more into that mission later to jog his memory it was probably the stress of his current mission that kept him from being able to focus. Another canister was added to the pile - if he angled them just right he could turn them on and then flick on that pilot light that was off to the side. They could get out of the building with time to spare and watch the fireworks. "Anything decent, or typical stuff?" Leon asked as he meticulously adjusted the haphazard pile to his liking.

"Pretty average. Whether you want to call that unfortunate or fortunate I'll leave up to you," she tells him. "Less work for whoever has to go over this stuff for the official reports at the end of the day, I guess." Maybe they'll get another lead to another operation, but she's not worried about that right now.

Their work is endless, and if she regularly tried to think about the next steps and what the web of bioterrorists and wannabe bioweapons dealers looked like, she'd go insane. She watches him stack cannisters for a moment, leaning slightly against the desk. "Should I be worried about how efficient you are with that? Or better yet, maybe I should be asking what happened to make it so you're good at it."

Leon just hummed at her analysis of the information. "Both, probably." He answered before taking a step back to look at his handiwork. "But its probably just a spark of creativity" Reaching out he angled another of the canisters just right so that it wouldn't blow up to wildly before the others. "I cant really answer either question beyond that though," Leon admitted after a moment fully leaving his little art project to lean against the desk that held the pilot light. "I could blame all the interesting situations that my job puts me into, but of course you could say the same." After a moment he sighed and looked back at the pile. "So, here's the plan though," Lifting his hand Leon mentioned to the canisters first. "I'm going to turn one on to leak out - not all of them have to be on, just one furthest away so that it can fill the room up well enough. Then, as we are leaving I'm going to hit this little light. Then by the time we are hopefully far enough away the gas will reach the flame and just," He made a goofy explosion noise and mimicked what would happen with his hands. "Problem solved then." Leon felt a little proud of himself.

"I could say the same, but I'm not usually the one blowing shit up - it's usually the automated self-destruct systems or a mutated bioweapon requiring a little more...firepower. Not usually because I'm actively trying to get rid of samples." Which, come to think of it, she wouldn't be opposed to doing this more often. She's getting too old to care about doing things by the book when the book is so corrupted.

Jill listens carefully to his plan and then nods. The hopefully far enough away bit doesn't exactly inspire a ton of confidence, but she knows he knows what he's doing. Besides that, they've both been in worse spots than an explosion they set off themselves.

"Oh, thanks for the sound effects. That really helps set the scene, Kennedy," Jill snorts. "Yeah, okay. Well, shouldn't be anything really stopping us, right? Building is cleared except for the couple of BOW's left in that hall...don't think any of those are going to survive an explosion. You get everything on your DSO checklist?"

As soon as the flick landed, she paused. Stilled for a moment. Blinked once. Then twice. Obviously confused as she raised a hand up, touching her forehead with her fingertips. The gears were clearly turning, trying to generate a reason as to why she had just been flicked. But no reason could be found,

“I—????“ she didn’t even know what to say. Had she done something wrong? Was this some new form of greeting she wasn’t aware of? Was it a friendly and goofy gesture that had just occurred randomly? She wasn’t offended or upset. Instead, she was definitely over complicating it by trying to put together a reason in her head, like a mental jigsaw puzzle with invisible pieces.

(I really hope I read that prompt right 😬 And it wasn’t supposed to be a flick from my muse to yours. If I goofed, I’m sorry!)

"I was trying to knock you out of whatever stupor you were in," Jill says with a little scoff. Her tone is obviously good-natured, and clearly teasing. "But seems like you went right back into it."

"Should I do it again? Total reset? Off and back on? Or if I ask about the email I sent yesterday am I going to get more than a blank look, this time?"

Flights were nothing. The sheer amount of travel involved with TerraSave made the constant air travel as natural as breathing. Would she have preferred to go places on her motorcycle instead? Deeply. It just wasn't possible and she couldn't pull strings to get her bike transported around the world.

She also wasn't alone on this particular trip.

Claire's death glare at the monitor declaring the delayed fight shifted and softened as she scanned over to Jill. The woman had always been a favourite for Claire. She was a good influence on Chris, by Claire's estimation, although no amount of positive influence in the world would ever be able to hold him down it seemed.

But as far as travel companions went, this was the closest thing to having Chris at her side, and Claire was grateful for that.

"Looks like the whole world is conspiring against this trip, huh? If I were more superstitious, I'd say this is a sign to stay home."

Jill snorts as she lounges way back in one of the seats next to Claire, one foot up on her carryon. "Yeah, I mean between this and the whole 'getting to the airport' debacle earlier, I'd say it's a pretty solid set of signs, even."

Ugh. She hates airports. Having someone to talk to has definitely made it better, of course. She's closer to Chris' age than Claire's, and they'd been friends a lot longer than she'd known Claire, but she can't help but feel like her and Claire get on pretty well, even outside all the BOW shit. "Whatever, I guess we're not getting out of it either way, right? Delay or not. I've gotta speak on behalf of the BSAA and you on behalf of Terrasave."

She managed an actual smile when reminded about the 'debacle' earlier. She still could not begin to imagine how the raccoon had gotten in the guy's trunk in the first place. She had nearly jumped out of her skin when it sprung out with bared teeth, probably more scared of them than they were of it.

"Conferences are the worst. If I'd have known being a TerraSave agent and saving the world would involve standing up in front of so many crowds of rich people to ask for money..."

Then she wouldn't have the ability to go out and help people...

"We don't even get to enjoy the best part of going out for pre-drinks tonight. Guess we'll just have to do double duty on the after party, huh?"

"Oh hell. Don't remind me. Shouldn't we be able to delegate stuff like talking to politicians and the like at this point?" For all her complaints, it isn't that bad. She likes wearing something fancy here and there. She likes free drinks even more, even when her tolerance for alcohol is kind of screwed up because of the virus exposure.

That said - "I think we deserve triple duty after that damn raccoon," she winces slightly. "That almost felt targeted."

"Airplanes," Jill sighs again, sinking back in the frankly uncomfortable chair. "Airports. Can't even get a snack for under ten dollars. I think you're taking this better than I am. Guess it makes sense, you're more used to it, right?"

Chris smiled softly. It was always good to see a familiar face when he felt down. Rather than fully explaining his gloomy demeanor, he picked up a nearby bottle and poured her a glass of whiskey. "Just... reminiscing."

"Jill Valentine a hindrance? Now I've heard everything," he shakes his head, shrugging his massive shoulders. "You're just going through self doubt, we all have it from time to time. But if I may remind you: You've been kicking ass and taking names just about as long as me. Probably better than me in some cases." The last part is said somewhat sheepishly.

It is nice outside. And it isn't the nineties anymore. Someone would surely take issue to him smoking indoors. Unlike Jill, he didn't see himself as unapproachable. He stands, stretching his stiff neck before snatching up his cigarettes and exchanging them with a wad of rumpled bills to pay for their drinks. "I know you don't smoke but wanna tag along?"

She shrugs again. "Yeah, maybe you're right." He usually is right. Especially when it comes to her - they've known each other too long for it to be any other way, really. "Pfft. Definitely not better. Just different techniques. And you have been in the field longer at this point because of my...leave, and everything." Leave was such a nice, polite word for it.

"Yeah, I wanna tag along," Jill nods. "I came here to talk to you, not for the drinks, as nice as it was to not just be downing something off the clearance shelf for once." She's definitely not some of her colleagues level of 'functional alcoholic' but maybe that's just because of the increased tolerance from the virus exposure. "Are you going to need a ride home, eventually?"

"We don't keep in super close touch," she admits, turning away slightly. "It's uh. It's good he's focusing on his family, right?" She'd probably be doing the same if she had one. Sometimes she's actually sort of jealous of Chris (who has Claire), and Barry (who has his whole family). She hasn't really had anyone since her dad died, and that was not that long after she moved to Raccoon City in the first place. "I thought he consulted for the BSAA sometimes? But I'm...bad at keeping up with that kind of thing. I sort of figured you'd been talking to him more than me."

He looks guilty, looking away himself. Sure, Barry is a consultant and combat specialist for the BSAA, but work left little time for catching up. "Reports don't usually come directly through me..." He mutters, wishing things were different.

With Claire busy with TerraSave and the Hound Wolf Squad going rogue from the greater BSAA, he had little time for friendships. Just sitting there with Jill is probably the most friendly banter he would have for months. Man, he could use a cigarette...

"Yeah..." She lets her voice drift off. "It's uh. It's pretty different from how it used to, be, isn't it?" Part of her misses being the one to get out there in the field, kicking ass and taking names, making sure that people were safe...the other part of her doesn't miss the sort of fear those situations never fail to strike in her, no matter now many times she deals with it.

Her hand goes up to rub absentmindedly at her collarbone, where the P30 used to sit. It's a tic she's mostly managed to kick, but especially now, thinking about the STARS days, and Wesker, and how things used to be, it's something she finds herself doing. "Geez, now you've got me moping, good job, Chris." She teases, but her smile isn't totally free of the weight of the conversation.

He takes out a pack of cigarettes, tapping it against the countertop. He wonders if anyone would mind him smoking inside... "Tell me about it." His lighter is in his hands now, the very same one from all those years ago. "You'll be off leave soon. Maybe getting back out there will do you some good?" He pauses. "I'd understand if that isn't what you want anymore..."

His gaze follows Jill's hand, watching the way she touched her collarbone. She can only be thinking of one thing... the incident in Kijuju, the device that was implanted on her, another reason Wesker has to pay. "I'm not moping," he argues amiably once again. "But, at least, we can 'not mope' together."

"No one I'd rather 'not mope' with," she smiles at him, finally dropping her hand frown her collarbone. "I don't know what I want, to be honest. I think I need to get back out there, I just have some...fears about it. I could never just do the leader thing like you've been doing, though. I'm not...I don't know. It feels like I've been out of the game so long I'd be more of a hinderance than a help, you know?"

For a long time she just seems to think, before her eyes are drawn to the way he flicks his lighter out of his pocket. "I don't think anyone's going to say anything if you want to smoke inside." Not to him, at least. Maybe if she tried it she'd get a different tune, but Chris gives off that aura of don't mess with this guy even when he's not trying to look intimidating. "Or we can go outside. It is a nice night."

The world around him felt distant and inconsequential. Pain sometimes did that, dulling the rest of the world in favour of the body's current struggle. Felix clenched his teeth through an unpleasant wave of pain that radiated from gash on his leg.

It would have at least been a mercy if it had happened in a Trial, where the end game would just wipe away all wounds on exit. Instead, he had managed to get tripped up in the middle of the forest just after a trial and a jagged branch had caught him. The only mercy was that another survivor had found him before a killer.

"My next Trial will not be easy with this," he muttered. Then, giving Jill a sorry sort of smile, "Thank you. For not leaving me."

"I'm just sorry I can't do more," she frowns. Trials are never easy, of course, but this will make it much worse for him. She's taken a strip off of the bottom of her pants. It's been...what feels like forever since she had done any first aid without the imminent threat of losing her life too looming over her. This almost feels too easy. "We'll tie it off and then you can sit by the campfire and take it easy until..." Until he's dragged off for another trial, she supposes.

Jill winces slightly in sympathy. "Maybe if you're lucky it'll go away after the next trial." She isn't so hopeful as to think it's a certainty, or even particularly likely. "I wouldn't leave you, Richter. We're all in this together, right?

His attention flicks to the woman when her sentence trails off. He can see the pity; he knows he'll be a sitting duck in the next Trial. But at least she was right about the Entity's inclination to reset her toys at the end of Trials. It was a grim thought to rely on such eldritch powers, but it had become the norm.

A norm that made his heart ache for the world he had left behind so many years ago.

Her next reassurance gave him more comfort. Many survivors simply accepted the fact that they had to be a team, if only to improve odds. Many survivors were also perfectly willing to leave without a second thought if the odds tipped even slightly against them...

To speak about togetherness with such ease took courage and conviction.

"Yes, that's right. And...once I'm not more hindrance than help, I promise I'll be there for you just the same if you need me."

Felix chuckled softly. "Though, I'm not sure how much I could possibly help someone as accomplished as yourself. The others from your world speak highly of you."

"Yeah, well, people speak highly of you when you fight in life or death situations together often," she offers a slight shrug. "It's not really accomplished, just unlucky, right? And we're all unlucky here."

She's never been the type to turn and run, at least. Since the first time she'd dealt with something terrifying and perception-shattering, all she'd had was her team...or what had been left of it anyway. She looks at Richter, offering him a hand up. "I don't need assurances that you'll be helpful. It's a shitty situation. Did you..." She pauses and winces. Is it an insensitive question. "Did you ever deal with stuff like this...before the Fog and the Entity and all of it?"
