The cosmos is eternal and simply repeats itself in cycles. History, too, runs in cycles and so repeats the same general pattern. Even in a person’s life there is nothing radically new. The true self was implicit from the start, like the tree in the seed. Thus we get the idea of human development as self-realization. If you die to the body, which only gets in the way of being rational, you get out of time, change, conflict, and death. Ultimate reality is not temporal and historical, but eternal. As your rational soul merges with the rational structure of reality, you become eternal too.

Now and then you miss it, Sounds make you cry. Some nights you dance with tears in your eyes.

And you are omnipotent, sorcerer, And at the same time you’re not. You can kindle a light in the dark And cut a mountain. Only you can’t order a heart Only you can’t order a heart - The human heart cannot be ordered to love.

Which of my feelings are real? Which of the me’s is me? The wild, impulsive, chaotic, energetic, and crazy one? Or the shy, withdrawn, desperate, suicidal, doomed, and tired one? Probably a bit of both, hopefully much that is neither.
Kay Redfield Jamison, from 'An Unquiet Mind'
I spent the whole day in my head Do a little spring cleanin’ I’m always too busy dreamin’ Well, maybe I should wake up instead A lot of things I regret, but I just say I forget
Mac Miller, “Good News” (via lyrical-life-quotes)
“And all I ever needed was somebody
With some reason who can keep me sane
Ever since I can remember
I been keeping it together but I'm feeling strange...”
Between what I see and what I say, between what I say and what I keep silent, between what I keep silent and what I dream, between what I dream and what I forget: poetry.
