âGosh y/n, youâre literally an angel!â
Joshua, your brother, said enthusiastically as soon as he walked into your apartment.
Him, together with his wife were invited to a meeting with their old classmates, as it was already 10 years after their highschool graduation. However, the problem was that they couldnât go there with their 3 years old daughter, Minji as they wouldnât probably have that much time to give her the attention. Come on, after all they really wanted to meet their friends calmly, even though Minji wasnât a big troublemaker.
So you decided to help your sibling, and for one day you volunteered to take care of the girl. You consulted everything with Miyoon, Joshuaâs wife, so when your brother got to know that youâll take care of Minji while theyâll be gone for a day, he was all over the moon as the problem of who they should leave their daughter with was giving him sleepless nights.
Your brother gently placed his 3 year old in your arms, kissing her cheek sweetly to which she let out a cute giggle. Miyoon was standing silently right next to Joshua. She was smiling lovely, while looking at her daughter and husband with such admiration shining in her eyes.
You chuckled, âSeriously! It's no problem for me. Spending time with this little sweetheart is pure pleasure, and taking care of her is hassle-free. Right, Minji?â the girl in your arms placed her head in the crook of your neck, while nodding gently.
Your brother cooed at Minjiâs reaction and you laughed under your nose, while hugging the little girl closer to your body.
âI hope that she wonât cause any problems though.â Miyoon uttered, making you shift your eyes at her.
âIf anything would happen, let us know immediately, and weâll drive back to pick her up.â the girl added with Joshua nodding at her words, and you sent them a reassuring smile while affirming to them that youâll call instantly if something happens.
âMinji mostly goes to sleep at 8 PM and if sheâll have any troubles with falling asleep, you can heat up some milk for her, she really likes it. But you can also read her a bedtime story or hum a song.â Joshua said in the doorway, and you placed the girl on the floor to run around your apartment with her favorite plushie in her hand.
She immediately ran up to your golden retriever, who was happily observing whatâs happening the whole time.
You smiled at your brother with pity visible on your face, âShua, please. Itâs not my first time taking care of Minji.â you crossed your hands over your chest, âSeriously. You donât have to worry about us.â
Miyoon chuckled as she watched how flustered Joshua got at your point. Then she gently patted his arm, âBabe, we need to get going. We still have around 2.5 hours to drive.â she muttered softly, and your brother nodded at her words while sending her his bright smile.
For the last time, Joshua and Miyoon thanked you, and (hesitantly) the two of them finally left your apartment, leaving you with Minji who was currently busy gently petting Seoli, your dog.
You watched her from the side for a bit, before you melted at her cutest behavior. Slowly, you approached them and Seoli immediately ran up to you, bringing Minji right after her. The girl gripped tightly around your leg, showing her gummy smile to you.
âHi angel.â you crouched down, and poked Minjiâs cheek to which the girl let out an adorable giggle. She wrapped her arms around your neck and hugged you tightly, making you smile widely.
âPlease hold still, auntie! Iâll get the band-aid for you~â Minji melodized, and she ran quickly towards her pink backpack where she had all of her toys hidden, looking for the band-aid for you.
You two were in the middle of playing âdoctor and patientâ and you sat on the couch, acting as if something happened on your cheek. Minji of course was the doctor, and she played as if she had to cure you.
Seoli, already tired after following everything you two did, was now laying on the fluffy carpet next to the sofa, silently observing both of you.
It was already 3 hours since Joshua and Miyoon left, and you were desperately trying to do anything with Minji until the time where you two would eat lunch, and then take a small nap.
So during this whole time, you already drew and coloured in Minjiâs coloring books, played with her tiny animal figurines, played in a hairstylist, and had a small snack break.
But all of it was actually pretty much fun and you couldnât complain. Minji was a really cute and happy child, which she probably got from her amazing father. However, she also got the softness and care that you could observe in the way of how she treated you as the âdoctorâ, from her sweet mother.
After a minute, Minji ran back to you with a pink colored band-aid that had smiley butterflies on it. She sat on the couch to get closer to you, and started sticking the band-aid to your cheek.
The girl was doing it with such patience and focus that it gave you an opportunity to look closer at her. And you immediately noticed how beautiful her eyes looked, as she had taken after Shua.
You were always jealous of your brotherâs eyes as he was the one who got your momâs eyes. Even though your eyes also looked similar to his, you also had a lot from your father.
The girl started to giggle as she was excited, and you couldnât help but melt at her cutest behavior. And just as Minji was about to finish sticking the band-aid, the two of you twitched as you heard a voice in the room.
âDid I miraculously wake up in the future, and youâre playing with our little daughter?â your boyfriendâs still a little hoarse voice rang in your ears, immediately putting your heart in calm, bringing a warm smile to your lips. But you couldnât stop blushing because of his statement.
âWhat? Hannie, no!â you chuckled at his words and added âThis is literally my niece!â to which the boy pouted in disappointment because of the harsh reality (deep down, he really hoped that you would say yes).
âHow are you, hm? Do you feel better?â you asked, smiling at him as the boy approached the two of you slowly, laying down on the couch while placing his head on your lap.
âYup. I feel much better now, love.â Jeonghan replied smoothly, while getting comfortable on your lap.
Then he shifted his eyes on Minji, who was already observing him, curious about his sudden appearance. The boy smiled at her to which she smiled brightly, tilting her head to the side.
âI think you have a real patient here, Minji.â you chuckled under your nose, âUncle Jeonghan had a biiiig~ headache this morning, so maybe you can take care of him now.â you started to gently play with Jeonghanâs dark hair.
It was really soft in the touch that you couldnât stop yourself from playing with it, and starting to loosely braid it. Not as if Jeonghan minded you doing that.
The girl nodded happily while running again to her backpack, taking all of the needed supplies to play with Jeonghan.
âShould I be scared?â Jeonghan whispered to you with a playful smile on his lips, looking at the pink band-aid still stuck to your cheek.
âNo, donât worry.â you chuckled softly, glancing at Minji who was busy searching for her toys, âDoctor Hong is really gentle with her doings.â you added, and Jeonghan chuckled as you sent him a bright grin.
Not so long after, Minji joined you two again and Jeonghan was forced to (unfortunately) sit up from your lap as she started to play with him.
You observed all of this silently from the side, with a big smile on your face, and your heart growing with love. The way Jeonghan was playing with her, using his baby voice while speaking with her, and treating her gently as if she was the most fragile thing in the world was making it really hard for you not to fall in love with him even deeper â if that was even possible.
âAuntie!â Minjiâs voice snapped you out of your thoughts, to which you quickly moved your attention to her.
âYes, sweetheart?â
âYou have to give uncle Jeonghan a kiss.
You froze.
âW-what?â you stuttered, and the girl blinked at you with confusion.
âYou have to give a kiss of love to uncle, so it will make him feel better! You know.. kiss of love! He said that his head still hurts..â Minji pouted, and looked at you with her shining, doe eyes.
Oh.. how could you refuse her?
So you looked at the main reason for your currently pink cheeks, and your eyes immediately locked with Jeonghanâs, dark oneâs. His gaze was addicting for you. You could stare into it all day long.
But the way he was looking at you right now, with that smirk and playfulness dancing freely in his eyes, was making you feel really flustered.
âCome on, y/n. You have to give me a kiss~â Jeonghan urged you, holding himself from laughing out loud because of how much he loved to tease you this way.
You knew that he was feeling fine now, and that his head didnât hurt anymore. It was normal for Jeonghan that sometimes when he came home late after an exhausting day, the boy got headaches as soon as he woke up in the morning. Thatâs how you always made him stay in bed and sleep more, most of the time with you by his side.
But now, he was just using the fact that you had a soft spot for Minji (and also for him) so you couldnât refuse her requests. And without any other choice left for you, slowly, you leaned closer and placed a sweet kiss on Jeonghanâs forehead. But just when you were about to pull back, his hands softly cupped your cheeks and attached his lips to yours, connecting you in a real kiss.
Quickly realizing what just happened, you pulled away from the boy, making him confused at your sudden change. Minji was squealing from happiness while jumping on the couch and hugging you tightly. Gently, you hit Jeonghanâs arm while trying to act as if youâre mad at him. The boy let out a giggle that made you smile even wider.
âNow I feel much better.â Jeonghan uttered, to which you snorted and rolled your eyes at his behavior, resting your chin on top of snuggling to you Minji.
âAre you ready, Ji?â
Jeonghan asked with a big smile shining on his lips, feeling as excited as the little girl who was currently jumping beside him. He was crouching in front of her while trying to help her put on her jacket and a fluffy hat with bear ears on the top.
You were tying your shoes as your lips curved into a soft smile. Your boyfriend was chasing after Minji through your apartment as just a second ago the girl stole his scarf. The sight of how Jeonghan was happy with your niece was making you chuckle, while feeling warm deep in your heart.
As the snow continued to fall throughout the day, you all decided to go on a walk and play for some time in the snow. Minji immediately accepted that idea, saying that she really wants to go out with her favorite (right after her parents) people, and see the snow.
âYou guys can already leave, Iâll join you in a second.â you stated, and Jeonghan nodded at your words with a soft smile spreading on his lips.
He quickly tapped Minjiâs head, shouting, âTag, youâre it!â
Then he ran out from the apartment, just to have Minji running just behind him, screaming his name.
You decided to pack a snack for Minji in your bag in case she gets hungry, and also take warmer clothes for the three of you. You had no idea for how long youâre going to be out, and as it was already the middle of January, so the evenings were really cold.
Thatâs why you took a small, pastel pink hoodie from Minjiâs bag with spare clothes that her lovely parents left for her, and two Jeonghanâs sweatshirts (one for him, and also one for you of course). Some hand warmers and you were ready to go.
Being in a relationship with Jeonghan for almost 5 years now (and 15 years in friendship), has taught you many things. For example, you should always watch your back, if heâs not planning to pull any of his stupid pranks on you (which you actually adored). Always watch his hand movements carefully, he will always try to cheat. Never let him in the kitchen or you want to get it burned down.
And also his really low cold tolerance. He could get cold really easily, so you always had to be one step ahead by having a hand warmer hidden somewhere in the pocket of your coat for him. His reaction was always the best as he always got shy when you sneaked the hot pack into his hand, ostensibly to hold his hand.
As you finished zipping your bag, you were finally done with packing all of the necessary things. You took your keys from the drawer and left the apartment, locking the door behind you.
When you left the building, Minji was clinging to Jeonghanâs arm, who was crouching, busy doing something. From this proximity you couldnât really tell what they were doing, but as soon as you got closer, you noticed a stray cat sitting by them.
Jeonghan was petting its head gently, cooing at the cat while Minji was observing everything behind Jeonghanâs arm. A smile spread on your lips as you approached them.
âOnly a minute without me, and you already found my replacement. You are so toxic, guys.â you chuckled, and the two of them raised their heads to look at you.
Jeonghan quickly sent you an âare-you-serious-right-nowâ look, before getting up and gently kissing your cheek. He placed his hands on your waist, pulling you closer to him.
âAnd only a minute without me, and youâre already saying nonsense, love.â he uttered as he sent you a lazy smirk, cupping your face with his hands.
âI would have never replaced you.â Jeonghan left a sweet kiss on your lips, to which you quickly turned away when he pulled away from you, chuckling at your sudden reaction.
You hoped he wouldn't notice that rose blush which suddenly appeared on your cheeks. But you blamed it on the cold weather, not the fact that you got embarrassed. However, the butterflies in your stomach were saying the opposite.
Minji observed you the whole time, wearing a gummy smile. The hat which was falling over her eyes was making her look adorable. She was struggling to see anything, but Jeonghan was quick to notice it. He untangled himself from you, and fixed her hat with a small pat on her head and a baby-voiced coo.
Jeonghan as usually had to forget to take his own hat. The snowflakes that were gently falling down the sky rested on top of his dark hair strands. His cheeks were already tinted in light pink from the cold breeze, making him look even more breathtaking.
Quickly, you took out a hat with long bunny ears that you also decided to pack, and put it on Jeonghanâs head. Gosh, he looked so cute in it.
In the meantime, the stray cat ran away somewhere, and you decided to finally start your small stroll to the park that was located in your neighborhood.
Minji was quick to hold Jeonghanâs and your hands, ready to walk with you two by her sides. You had to walk much slower than usual because of her small steps, but you didnât complain. The already setting sun looked alluring, with the pink and violet rays spreading on the sky.
Suddenly, the girl unhooked her hands, and ran straight towards the open area with lots of snow on it. She jumped into it, giggling, while taking the snow into her hands and throwing it above her. You followed right after her, playing together with the snow.
What you didnât expect to happen next was a snowball hitting your arm. When you looked to the side, you quickly noticed the culprit, laughing soundly with a playful grin on his face.
âCome on, Minji,â you grasped her hand, âWe have to win this battle.â a smirk spread over your lips as the little girl giggled in excitement.
And thatâs how your snowball battle started. You couldnât believe it but while playing, you suddenly felt as if you were 15 again, having a battle with your friends after you finished your classes. When Jeonghan and you were only friends, and when you never imagined that in the future youâll fall for each other.
Itâs obvious that at the end Jeonghan of course ended up winning against you two (you still question if he didnât cheat while . But you didnât really care about that. Him still being with you after all those years, smiling like a kid, having his best time with your beloved niece was more than enough to make you feel happy.
Hot chocolate tastes the best after playing in the snow. And you canât disagree with that.
The three of you got back home 30 minutes after you finished the battle in the snow. Your clothes were all wet and Minji was already whining about how her legs hurt, so on the way back home Jeonghan gave her a piggy ride.
After changing into some fresh and most importantly dry clothes, Jeonghan was quick to suggest that you all should drink hot chocolate to warm up. Minji, having her uncle as the most amazing person after giving her a piggy ride home, begged you to make them hot chocolate.
And thatâs how you ended up in this situation â Minji sitting on Jeonghanâs lap, snuggled into his chest. She was already done drinking her hot chocolate, watching a cartoon on the TV.
The boy kept stroking her hair gently, putting her into a deep sleep. Jeonghanâs warmth, together with the tiredness and soft sound of the programme they were watching, worked like a lullaby for Minjiâs exhausted body.
You sat beside them, not being able to focus on anything else than the love of your life acting like your niece is his own child.
âShould we put her to her bed?â Jeonghan whispered after a while as he looked at you, his hand still on Minjiâs head, hugging her closely.
âYeah, I think so.â you replied softly, âShe already fell asleep, so itâs even better.â you smiled, and the two of you got up from the couch as quietly as you could to not wake the little girl up.
When Jeonghan went to the guest room with Minji, you sent a short text to Joshua, saying that Minji is already sleeping and everythingâs alright. You left your phone on the coffee table and went after Jeonghan to the guestâs room, stopping in the door frame. You leaned against it, observing how your boyfriend was gently tugging Minji to sleep.
When he finally noticed you standing behind him, he sent you a questioning look with a smile spreading over his lips. You chuckled softly, shaking your head as you headed to your bedroom. But on the way there, a pair of arms quickly sneaked over your waist.
You let out a squeak when the boy suddenly lifted you up, spinning you around. âHannie, put me down!â you whispered firmly while laughing, as you didnât want to wake Minji up.
âBut I donât want toooo~â he whined, keeping his face in the nape of your neck, but eventually the boy placed you back on the ground, turning you around to face him.
âYou know..â you started, placing your arms around his neck, âI didnât know that youâre that good at taking care of kids.â
âOh please,â he laughed, âWhat am I not good at in the first place.â
âHmm, I donât think there is something like that.â you looked deeply into his eyes, which shone brightly in happiness and tenderness.
Jeonghan leaned down and placed a soft kiss on your nose before suddenly lifting you up in a bridal style, taking you to your bedroom (despite your protests).
He gently placed you on the bed as if you were the most fragile thing before showering your entire face and neck with butterfly kisses. Your giggles filled the room, enjoying your sweet time together.
It was already past midnight when Jeonghan came out of the bathroom. He had his hair still slightly damp after showering. You were laying in your bed, scrolling through social media. Joshua posted some photos from the gathering, and seeing your brother together with his wife, enjoying their time was making you feel really happy.
âWhat are you looking at?â Jeonghan asked suspiciously, observing how widely you smiled.
He dried his hair with a towel while standing at the end of the bed. But when you didnât reply to him, the boy immediately pouted, annoyed that youâre paying more attention to something in your phone than him.
âHello?â he said louder, crossing his arms over his chest.
âOh yes, sorry. Joshie posted photos from the gathering, and they look so happy together.â you explained in awe, showing him the pictures in your phone. Jeonghan only hummed in response, not really interested, while putting the towel aside.
You could immediately notice a shift in his behavior, so you put your phone on the bedside table. Jeonghan got under the bedsheets next to you, quickly pulling your body closer to him.
You looked at him worriedly, âHannie, whatâs wrong?â you asked, but the boy just snuggled closer to you. Gosh, heâs so clingy.
âNothing, letâs just cuddle.â he muttered tiredly, quickly earning a chuckle which in a split of a second caused the corner of his lips to raise.
While being tangled in his protective arms, you talked about the day, how much you enjoyed it and how much youâd want to experience something like this once again. Jeonghan (being already half asleep) listened to your subdued voice, humming in agreement.
What you didnât expect was to suddenly hear a faint knock on your door. Quickly, you straightened up on the bed, unfortunately hitting Jeonghan at the same time. You whispered a soft sorry as the woken up boy looked at you, pouting while massaging his jawline.
You got out of the bed, and approached the door. On the other side you found a teary-eyed Minji, gripping her plushie tightly in her hand. The bare sight made your heart swell immediately.
âMinji, baby, what happened?â you asked her as you crouched in front of her, bringing her close to you, âDid you have a nightmare?â you added, while hugging her to your body.
You could only hear Minjiâs sniffs, âY-yes.â she whispered, snuggling into the crook of your neck.
Trying to calm her down, you picked her up and you got back to the bed. Jeonghan was already sitting, observing you silently with worry written all over his face.
You sat on the edge of the bed, Minji sat on your laps while hugging you tightly. Her sniffles were already gone, but you kept stroking her back and swaying her shaking body. Jeonghan took some tissues from the bedside table, and shuffled closer to you on the bed, gently wiping Minjiâs tears away.
When the girl was finally calmed down, you looked at her shiny and slightly red eyes, and smiled.
âDo you want to sleep with us tonight?â you asked.
Oh. If only you knew how Jeonghanâs heart skipped a beat when he heard you spoke those words. Through out the day, he actually started to feel more as if Minji was his own daughter, and seeing you, so gentle and careful with the little girl only confirmed his thoughts about you being his only one.
Minji nodded, and you quickly took her off your knees, placing her in the middle of the bed. As your bed was king size, there was no problem for you three to sleep together.
Jeonghan helped Minji lay down, bringing her plushie closer to her. You also got back under the sheets, laying down next to your niece.
As previously, your boyfriend started to stroke her head, and also between her eyes as he once read somewhere that gently stroking that place makes babies fall asleep faster. The whole time you were looking at Jeonghan, as he was focused on putting Minji to sleep.
Surprisingly, that advice which Jeonghan used turned out to be true, because soon later Minji was back in her sweet slumber, and you two could finally go to sleep.
You were still looking at him, and when your eyes met, you felt those butterflies in your stomach waking up again. You found Jeonghan handsome and very attractive almost every time. When he had his hair done perfectly, with his black shirt on and that stupid smirk. When he was helping you cook something, politely obeying your orders. And when he was completely focused during building his lego sets.
But this sight. Oh dear lord, please have some mercy.
Him in front of you, in the most natural circumstances ever, with his dark hair soft but slightly messy, his shirt falling down a bit too low while exposing one of his collarbones, laying in the same bed with you and being the same (or even more) exhausted than you. It felt different.
He was the most beautiful, the most attractive and the most handsome person youâve ever laid your eyes on.
âAngel, I know Iâm handsome, but you donât have to stare at me like that.â he commented with a smirk spreading on his lips.
You quickly got back out from that daze, âOh shut up.â you whispered, while turning around in the bed, making him face your back.
âGood night, love.â
âGood night, Hannie.â
Just when you thought that nothing could look better than Jeonghan last night, you got your thinking changed once again.
Waking up in the morning with the sunâs light rays resting on the floor and walls of your bedroom, while laying next to your beloved boyfriend, and your niece cuddled up closely to him, officially became your new favorite sight ever.
They looked so fragile, so delicate and so adorable, while sleeping peacefully, that you couldnât help but take some photos of them.
As soon as you got out of bed (and finished your mini photo session), you went through the new notifications. It was only 8 am, but you still got some throughout the night.
At around 7:30 am, Joshua sent you a text that they will eat breakfast now, and then try to leave around 9:00 am. So you still had 4 hours until they arrived.
After dressing yourself up as quietly as you could, you walked out of the room, closing the door behind you. You decided not to wake them up, but surprise them with breakfast.
You spent some time debating over what you should make, and if it should be savory or sweet, but you eventually chose to make sweet breakfast. Quickly, you began to make the batter for the waffles, also preparing coffee for Jeonghan and you while Seoli accompanied you. You of course didnât forget to also give her food.
After some time, you were already making the waffles when a pair of arms suddenly sneaked around your waist, with the feeling of someoneâs chin on your shoulder.
âYou left the bed too early today,â Jeonghanâs still a little bit hoarse voice sounded right by your ear, as you were busy putting the done waffles on the plates, âYou know I like to wake up and see your face as the first thing in the morning.â
âI know, I know, Hannie,â you laughed, pouring the batter into the waffle mold, âBut I wanted to make a surprise for you two. Speaking of, where is Minji?â you asked, turning around to face Jeonghan.
Oh shit. He looked breath-taking.
âI helped with her morning toilet, and then we went to the living room. She is busy with her coloring books, but still kind of sleepy.â Jeonghan explained, and you nodded at his words.
The boy grabbed his cup of coffee, and took a sip before leaving a soft kiss on your cheek while saying thank you. You smiled back at him, finishing the waffles.
Soon, you took all of the waffles that you prepared, and placed them on the table. In the meanwhile, Jeonghan took out all of the toppings for the waffles, and went back to get Minji.
When you finally sat down, your boyfriend came into the kitchen with Minji holding his hand, and slowly walking towards you right by his side. As soon as she noticed the waffles on the table, she sprinted towards the chair and quickly got on top of it, already taking one of the waffles. Jeonghan joined right after her, and the three of you began to eat your breakfast.
The rest of the morning went really fast. Jeonghan dressed in something else than his pyjamas while you helped Minji to pick her outfit. Then you finally did your makeup, and the three of you just spent more time together.
You didnât understand how itâs possible, that even with your tendency to have a low social battery, you didnât feel tired or bored by your boyfriend and niece. It felt so natural now to have them around, that you just got used to it.
While Minji was playing with your dog, and Jeonghan was teaching her how to make Seoli do the tricks, you were busy thinking about how you actually can see your future like this.
Now, after yesterday, you were sure that you could picture your future with Jeonghan, and even see yourself as a mother. You were sure that the boy would be the best father, spoiling his kid while also pulling his stupid pranks on you with them.
But you were sure that with him it was possible.
A few hours later, a doorbellâs sound rang in your flat. Seoli immediately ran to bark at the person behind the door, but you were sure it was Shua with Miyoon. And you werenât wrong. As soon as you opened the door you could see the young parents standing in front of you, greeting you happily as you kept Seoli from jumping on them.
Seconds later, Jeonghan came from behind the corner with Minji in his arms. She had her head pressed to his cheek, observing patiently who came over. And just when she saw her mommy and daddy, she grinned happily and wiggled in Jeonghanâs arms. The boy put her down, and she ran straightfully to her parents. They hugged their daughter closely, and Jeonghan joined your side, placing his arm over your waist.
âWe hope she didnât cause you any problems.â Miyoon uttered, patting the little girlâs head.
âNo, not at all!â you quickly protested, âMinji is such an angel, we spent an amazing time together.â you leaned your head on Jeonghanâs shoulder.
âSheâs the cutest. Iâm so jealous of your daughter.â Jeonghan commented, earning a laugh from everyone.
You handed Joshua all Minjiâs things that they brought, and it was finally time to say goodbye.
âNooo! I donât wanna say goodbye!â Minji whined, while cuddling to your leg.
âJi, baby, youâve been with your aunt and uncle for a whole day. Now we have to go back to our house.â Joshua explained, âWe have to let auntie and uncle get some rest.â
âBut I love them so much..â
You couldnât control the coo that left your lips as soon as the girl said how much she loved you and Jeonghan. Your boyfriend only smiled briefly, observing everything.
âYouâll see them soon again.â Miyoon took Minjiâs hand, bringing her closer to her to put the hat on her head.
âPromise?â
âPromise.â you replied, while intertwining your pinky finger with hers, âYouâll probably see us earlier than you might think.â
âI canât wait already!â she shouted enthusiastically, and for the last time Minji hugged you and Jeonghan tightly, and patted Seoli. Then, the young parents left your flat, leaving you two alone, again.
Suddenly, Jeonghan let out a groan which startled you by the sudden action.
He headed towards the living room, âI want to have a kid.â he whined, and you chuckled under your breath, following Jeonghanâs steps.
âYou know, we still can have one in the future.â you answered, and the boy immediately turned around, looking at you with his eyes widened and his mouth parted a little bit. âOnly if you want one.â
Jeonghan was quick to run up to you, and spin you around, while holding you tightly. Your giggles filled the room once again, being the prettiest melody to your boyfriendâs ears.
âOf course I do, my love.â
He was sure. Jeonghan was sure that he couldnât wait no more, and that maybe it was the right time to take out that velvet box which he hid deeply in the drawer by the bed, and finally put it into use.
Because he knew one thing. That if he wanted to spend his entire life together with someone, then it had to be with you.
summary: he decided to give you time, to let you feel comfortable with him and everything else. but you donât want and need it anymore. you want to be visible. you want the two of you to be visible to the others. that youâre his and heâs yours.

Does Yoon Jeonghan have a girlfriend?
That was the question which was asked probably the most past days on your campus.
You could hear it everywhere. People were gossiping about in the hallways, in the bathroom, in the cafteria and even during the lectures, trying to get to the truth.
Is he single or not?
This whole situation began when someone from the campus took a photo of him, hanging out with a girl and holding her hand with a big smile on his lips. The face of the mysterious girl wasnât shown in the picture, which is why they were wondering who it might be and if sheâs his girlfriend.
Jeonghan was a 3rd year student and as far as everyone had known, he was staying single for a long time already. But now, nothing was sure.
People had mixed opinions on it. Some were happy for him that he found somebody to love, some were just really confused while not wanting to believe it's true, and the last group was really negative about it (thinking they even had a chance with Jeonghan, pfft).
However, it was obvious that everyone wanted to know the truth.
Does Yoon Jeonghan have a girlfriend?
However, only two people knew the answer to it.
Yoon Jeonghan himself, and you.
Jeonghan came out from the lecture class with his black messenger bag overhanged across his chest while being deeply immersed in his phone, when Seungkwan, campusâ sweet boy, joined him by his side.
âHello Jeonghan!â he started enthusiastically, âHowâs your day? Are you okay?â the boy blinked a few times and sent him a cute smile, while taking a sip of his beloved iced americano.
Jeonghan frowned, looking at him quite suspiciously.
âHi,â he mumbled, letting out a sheepish chuckle, âYea, Iâm fine. Just finished my schedule, and Iâm a bit tired. And you?â Jeonghan asked, continuing the conversation as the two of them slowly walked towards the entrance of the campus.
âUhh.. I still have one lecture left, so I need to stay.â Seungkwan pouted, making the other boy smile, âAre you meeting someone? Or going home by yourself?â the sunshine boy asked, making Jeonghan stop mid-step, crossing his arms over his chest.
He looked at the younger boy with an amused expression as he snickered, âSeungkwanie, come on. Donât tell me youâre also into this whole gossip trend on our campus.â
âOh, hyung! But is that true? Are you seriously in a relationship?â Seungkwan questioned, tilting his head to the side, while wishing to get the answer everyone wanted to know. âPlease! I wonât tell anyone.â he pouted.
Jeonghan let out a quiet snort, while looking to the side as he was kind of getting tired after hearing another person ask him that question.
Why was everyone suddenly so curious about it?
âIâm sorry Kwannie, but I won't tell you. Nice try though.â Jeonghan muttered, fixing his bag on his side, âSee you tomorrow.â
Then, he turned around and walked out, leaving the younger boy and all of the gossip behind him in that building.
December's cold, evening breeze hit Jeonghanâs face, finally letting him breathe out in relief. The boy placed the hood over his head, tugging his hands into the pockets of his big hoodie.
He did it. He survived another day without getting caught.
Gosh.. it was so hard for him not to react every time he passed next to you in the hallways. To not stare at your beautiful face for too long, to not send you a soft smile, to not yield his food to you at the cafeteria or just hold your hand. He wanted to do it so badly, and many times he caught himself almost doing it.
But at the same time, Jeonghan was aware that even the smallest thing that could have been taken as âmore than close friendsâ, might have caused suspicions from your or his friends. Which you two wanted to avoid at all cost. At least for now.
Your relationship had to stay invisible to people around you.
Even though the boy didnât like that idea at first, after some time you two agreed that for now you wonât show your relationship in public, especially in college.
Jeonghan decided to give you time to get comfortable as it was your first relationship after being in a really harmful and traumatic one in the senior class at highschool. Your ex was a very cute and nice guy at the beggining who later turned into being really abusive towards you, especially verbally. And when you revealed at the beggining, that you two are dating, a lot of people abandoned you, leaving you behind with the problem that after a while you were forced to deal with all alone.
Thatâs mostly why you werenât sure if you wanted to reveal your new relationship. And itâs not that you didnât trust Jeonghan, because you did. You trusted him as no one else. But because of your past, you were not certain if you could go through that all over again.
Jeonghan couldnât wait to finally see you, after this long and tiring day. He really wanted to hug you close and tell you how good you looked today. Because he missed you. Your voice, your smile, your smell, your warmth and your touch. He missed every single thing about you, and he hasn't interacted with you for only around 6 hours (not counting all of the texts that the two of you shared today).
Rushing towards your apartment with a bag of takeout food that he bought on the way, Jeonghan was already thinking what you two could do tonight. But the truth was that even if you two laid in your bed, cuddling, he was okay with it. Because what mattered to him was spending his time with you. Not the activity you did.
Right after only one ring to the door, you opened it with a tired smile visible on your face. You were already dressed in your kuromi pyjamas (to which Jeonghan had a matching, âmy melodyâ one), wearing fluffy socks.
Your boyfriend giggled, excited about seeing you and finally having you for himself only.
âHi.â he said gently, with a bright smile shining on his face.
âHi.â you replied softly, while connecting your hand with his, taking him into your apartment, and closing your door right behind him.
âI brought food!~" the boy cheered, taking his shoes off by his heels. You couldnât help but melt, and a bright smile appeared on your lips.
The boy swung the bag in the air with a big smile, and you approached him, slowly kissing his cheek while thanking him sincerely. Then, he quickly placed the bag on the floor and wrapped his hands around your waist, hugging you tightly to his body.
Jeonghan laid his forehead on your shoulder, âIâm tired.â he murmured, closing his eyes while sighing, âI need to recharge.â
A smile creeped onto your lips as you slowly started to play with Jeonghanâs hair, him still being close to you.
âDonât worry, baby. We have time.â you smiled, caressing his head. You let him ârechargeâ as the boy didnât move away from you for even a second.
âYouâre doing a great job, Hannie.â finally, you broke the silence, feeling how he snuggled closer into the crook of your neck. The scent of your body has always had a calming effect on Jeonghan, and it wasnât different now.
âI canât believe that acting like a stranger with my girlfriend might be that tiring.â he murmured into your skin, immediately catching you off guard.
Your face saddened in the split of the second, with the feeling of guilt starting to take over you.
âHannie-â
âNo, itâs okay.â the boy looked up at you, with his shining, full of understanding eyes, âWe both agreed on it after all. And I want you to feel comfortable when youâre with me. So I wonât pressure you into doing things youâre not okay with.â he added, and gently cupped your face with his hands, admiring your features.
âIâm sorry..â you mumbled, feeling the lump in your throat, âIâm sorry that because of me you have to pretend something you donât want to, but.. please, believe me that Iâm really.. really trying to somehow overcome this-â
Jeonghan quickly placed his lips on top of yours, connecting you in a gentle kiss, while stopping you from speaking more. At first your whole body stiffened, not expecting this. But the feeling of Jeonghanâs soft lips on top of yours started to overwhelm you, making you crave for more of him.
However, before you could even react and reciprocate his sweet action, Jeonghan already moved away from you, sending you a reassuring smile.
âLetâs eat, darling. Iâm sure youâre hungry.â the boy suggested, and took the bag from the floor, making his way to your kitchen.
âAnd then I need to put my baby to sleep.â Jeonghan giggled, to which you quickly responded with a scoff, âIâm not a baby anymore.â you muttered, but the smirk was still present on your lips.
You quickly followed right after him, sitting by the kitchen island as you silently watched him take out the containers with food.
But the slight feeling of guilt hasnât left you at all, making you stay up at night, tossing around in the bed, overthinking everything, while being tightly hugged from the back by Jeonghan.
Should you finally become visible to people?
Or should you let things stay as theyâre now?
âSo..â Millie â your best friend, started and you looked at her suspiciously.
The two of you were coming back from the nearest coffee shop after buying a coffee to go for yourselves. This small break was good for you as you still had this one lecture to survive.
âSo?â
âI met a guy.â she said while covering her face as she already knew how youâre going to react.
You let out a sigh, closing your eyes whilw tilting your head to the side. âMillie, I swear to god..â
âBut listen!â she interrupted, âHeâs actually really nice and he cares for the others a lot! Heâs the greatest gentleman I know! And you wonât believe me, but heâs actually close friends with Yoon Jeonghan.â after hearing that name, your eyes immediately widened.
You choked on your drink, immediately starting to cough, âOoh..â you started trying to stabilize your voice, âWhatâs his name?â you asked, quickly realizing that you sounded too interested about that.
Even though you remembered a few of Jeonghanâs friends as he was sometimes going out or just talking about them with you, you were really curious which one stole Millieâs heart.
She grabbed your hand and squeezed it tightly, âHong Joshua! Can you believe heâs also half american half korean? Just like me!â the girl exclaimed while grinning.
âYeah, Iâm happy for you-â you mumbled while trying to get off her hand, that was slowly starting to make your palm feel numb.
âI think we can even go and meet him now! Joshie said heâll wait for me by the entrance.â Millie giggled just at the thought of the boy, and already started walking faster, leaving you behind.
You looked at her with some pity written on your face as you shook your head and followed her steps.
A few minutes later, the two of you were already standing by the entrance, waiting for Joshua to join you. On the way, Millie already told you that youâll have this lecture together.
âHe texted me heâll be here any second!â Millie cheered, showing you the text that he sent her a few seconds ago. And as Joshua said, several seconds later, you two noticed him going towards you. However, he wasnât alone.
Yoon Jeonghan, who was smiling brightly while listening to Joshua, accompanied him. It made your breath immediately hitch in your lungs.
Oh shit. You havenât thought about the fact that he might actually come right now with Joshua.
âHi Joshie!â Millie shouted enthusiastically, waving to the boy to get his attention. As soon as Joshua noticed Millie, his face brightened up as his eyes turned into two small crescents and a cute smile adorned his lips.
But you had your eyes stuck on him. And so did he, with a slight smirk that creeped onto his lips.
âHi y/n! Millie talked a lot about you, itâs a pleasure to finally meet you.â Joshua greeted you, sending you one of his charming smiles to which you smiled back.
âThis is my friend, Jeonghan.â he added, making you move your gaze at the mentioned boy, only to find him already staring at you.
There was a short silence before you decided to make the move.
âHi.â you finally uttered, smiling gently.
âHi.â Jeonghan replied, the same way as he had always greeted you.
It was your small tradition that only you two understood. Each of the smallest âhiâ you said, also meant âi missed youâ or âi love youâ at the same time.
âOh, right, I almost forgot to tell you!â Millie said suddenly, making you twitch.
âToday, together with some other people from campus, weâre going to a barbeque restaurant! If you want to, you can join us. I think itâs going to be more fun and less uncomfortable if youâll be there.â the girl remarked, and sent you a pleading look.
You looked at Jeonghan, searching for an answer on his face and he silently nodded, âYeah, I can join you guys. And y/n too.â the boy answered, and shifted his eyes back to you.
âPerfect!â the girl cheered while hugging Joshuaâs arm, âThen we see each other tonight at 6PM! Iâll send you the localisation later. But now letâs get going, the lecture is about to start!â she added, and then Millie pulled Joshua to the lecture hall, leaving you two behind.
âAre you okay?â Jeonghan asked, worried by the absent look in your eyes.
You smiled briefly, âYeah.. Iâm just a bit tired. I just need to survive this one last hour. But now letâs go, we donât want them to get suspicious, do we?â sending a small wink to Jeonghan, you quickly followed your best friendâs steps to the hall, with Jeonghan going right behind you, not being able to hide the smirk on his lips.
When you sat down in the hall room, several students were already there. Millie sat next to Joshua, and Jeonghan decided that you'll sit in the row behind them.
As soon as the lecture started, you placed your arms on the desk and laid down. The feeling of tiredness after not getting enough sleep tonight was taking over you, making it really hard for you to survive this day.
However, it didnât go unnoticed by Jeonghan that you looked exhausted. Gently, he removed your hair that got in the way, and stroked your back.
He leaned closer and whispered, âHow about you rest a bit, hm? Iâll take the needed notes for us, so you donât have to worry.â
You smiled gently, melting inside from the softness and care that the boy treated you with. Nodding softly, you whispered a small âthank youâ to Jeonghan.
Opening your eyes one last time, you saw Jeonghanâs focused face. He was playing with the pen in his hand as he always had to have something in his hand.
As you shifted your gaze to Millie, you immediately noticed that compared to your boyfriend, the girl wasnât paying attention to the lecture at all. She probably wasnât even planning on doing it, because Millie was busy studying the boy next to her. Smiling weakly at the mere sight, you closed your eyes, finally drifting off to sleep.
Little did you know, Jeonghan also decided to follow Millieâs steps after some time.
âHi angel, are you ready?â
Jeonghan peeked into your room as you were finishing getting ready for the night out. You looked up at him in the mirror, and the boy smoothly came closer to you with a smirk playing on his lips. He bent down to be on your eye level, and looked at you from the back by the mirror. The scent of his freshly applied perfume and shower gel hit your nose, showing that he just finished getting ready.
You two came back from the college around two hours ago. At the end of the lecture, the boy patted your arm gently, whispering your name to wake you up. He caught himself smiling at the sight of your sleeping figure, but quickly scolded himself for it, remembering that he has to take notes and act completely unaffected by you.
Not going to lie, it quickly became a big challenge for him.
The boy was wearing a black silk shirt with a deep neckline, paired with black loose pants. His hair was freshly styled, with his bangs resting right over his eyes. He looked incredibly attractive at that moment, making you rethink about how it is even possible that a man and an angel like him is actually your boyfriend.
You, on the other hand, did natural make-up, and wore a black dress that hugged your body perfectly, reaching around your calves area, with a deep cut that reached right above your knee. Your hair was left loose, and with a delicate gold necklace that Jeonghan gifted you on your birthday, your whole look was finished.
It was indeed intentional to choose an outfit that would match Jeonghanâs, and vice versa (but not too obvious). However, the more you thought about it, the more you were starting to doubt if you should go with that dress. Of course you wanted to look elegant and step out of your comfort zone a bit, but you quickly started to think if it was really worth it.
And just as if your boyfriend heard your thoughts, he whispered into your ear, âYou look beautiful, sweetheart.â Jeonghan left a sweet peck on your cheek, âYou donât have to feel unsafe or uncomfortable. I promise Iâll be there to protect you everytime, at any cost.â he added, solving all of the problems that you could have been thinking at that moment.
The boy moved away a bit, finally allowing you to let out the breath that you didnât even realize youâve been holding the whole time. The scent of him was always really strong and just being by his side, you thought that you might go insane by any second.
Soon later, the two of you finally left your apartment, and sat comfortably in Jeonghanâs car that he parked in front of your house. Your way to the restaurant went actually really comfortably, and even when you didnât say much, Jeonghan tightly held his hand intertwined with yours, whispering from time to time compliments to you.
When you entered the restaurant, Millie, Joshua and some other people that you didnât really know were already sitting by the table. As soon as your best friend noticed you, she yelled your name and waved to you. The two of you joined the group, and you sat down next to Millie and a guy that you didnât know. Jeonghan sat on the other side of the table, next to Joshua, and a girl who was really known in your college, Siyeon.
âIâm glad you guys actually made it!â Joshua cheered, and you smiled at him.
âWhy did you two come together?â Siyeon asked, âAre you two dating or something?â she added, gaining everyoneâs attention as everyone heard about the gossip.
She always knew how to get people to look at her. Siyeon was not only called the goddess of the campus, but also she made it with her attitude. And even now, she successfully gained everyoneâs gaze by looking at her and at you two, while smirking lazily.
Her question made you immediately start to panic inside, but you were trying to not show it that much on the outside. Not knowing how to respond, you looked at Jeonghan, frightened. The boy immediately read from your facial expression whatâs happening, and he decided to take action.
The boy laughed out loud, âOh come on, guys! Does really everything have to be about dating? I just gave y/n a ride because itâs dark already, and she lives near me.â
Smooth.
Jeonghan looked at you, and sent you an apologetic look, âWeâre just friends. Weâre not in a relationship, guys.â he added, making the others start joking and laughing because of this situation.
Oh.
Even though you knew that the boy did it to protect you, and your relationship, you still felt that stinging pain in your heart.
But actually, what did you expect? Jeonghan did what he had to do to keep your relationship a secret. Something that you two agreed to do, especially because of you.
So why did you feel that way? Maybe.. just maybe, you deeply hoped that he would admit it, and say that youâre his girlfriend.
âHey, you okay?â you heard Millieâs whisper by your ear, bringing you back from your thoughts.
You nodded, chuckling from embarrassment, âYeah, Iâm fine. Sorry.â she stroked your arm gently while sending you a reassuring smile, and you sent her a small smile, reaching for your glass of water to take a sip.
When all of you ordered, and the food together with alcohol was finally brought, your group started to eat, while telling stories, joking around, and slowly getting more drunk.
You werenât really a fan of drinking as you had a light head, so you were always the responsible one for Millie as she always wanted to drink. But even now, when she had Joshua by her side, you still decided not to drink.
Jeonghan always reminded and assured you, that you shouldnât worry about not drinking anymore. He insisted, that if youâd want to have some fun with friends then you shouldnât stop yourself, because heâll be there to protect you and take you home afterwards. But even when you knew he truly meant it, you still decided to stick by your glass of water.
Millie was already clinging to Joshua, already getting tipsy from the drinks she drank. People were laughing loudly at something and you were sitting silently, listening while finishing your portion of tteokbokki that you decided to have. A few minutes later, Jeonghan excused himself by the need to go to the toilet.
As soon as he disappeared by the corner, the boy next to you named Changmin, who also drank a few bottles of soju after the challenges the boys from your college made, turned around and suddenly shouted, âOh y/n!â what made you immediately look at him, not knowing what was happening.
Then, the boy leaned closer to you, making you widen your eyes and he clumsily sweeped some of the sauce with his thumb, that was in the corner of your lips.
Unfortunately, while being already tipsy from the alcohol, he made even a bigger mess on your face as he not only smeared the sauce to your chin but also some of your lipstick.
âOops!â he laughed goofily, and some of the boys that were there started to laugh with him.
You just hoped that someone would somehow help you. But Millie was already passed out on the chair, with Joshua being concerned about her. Other girls, including Siyeon, were busy gossiping and drinking more soju. So you were left alone with this situation.
Quickly, you reached for the napkin that was near your bowl, and turned slightly to the side, gently removing the sauce and leftovers from your lipstick. You felt embarrassed because of what happened, just as if that boy fully meant to do it.
But it wasnât funny to you at all.
Changmin looked at you one more time before smacking your thigh with his palm and squeezing it slightly. You widened your eyes as you were flabbergasted what just happened. And in the split of the second, you pushed his hand away.
âWhat the fuck are you doing?â you asked angrily, as you immediately felt uncomfortable but also pissed by the boyâs sudden action.
âAww, poor baby is not in the mood,â he chuckled and reached for his chopsticks to take another piece of the tteokbokki from your plate and put it in front of your mouth.
âWe need to feed the baby, say aaaaah~â
You hit his hand away once again, and the boys around started to laugh even more, making you feel ashamed. The tears from helpless frustration started to sting your eyes, but you strongly resisted to open your mouth and eat the tteokbokki that Changmin put in front of you once again.
âCome on, y/n! Say a-â
âIâm sure y/n is not hungry anymore.â
You heard a voice from behind you, and the person quickly pushed Changminâs arm away. You looked up, seeing Jeonghanâs serious face behind you. He took a quick glance at you, immediately noticing the tears that swelled in your eyes.
Your boyfriend grabbed your wrist and pulled you up, the chair squeaking by the sudden drag.
âOh come one, dude!â one of the boys shouted, but he was totally ignored by Jeonghan.
He quickly hid your fragile body behind his silhouette, looking into your eyes which glistened with tears.
Jeonghan cupped your cheeks with his hands, âTalk to me, angel. Did he hurt you?â he whispered gently, looking at you intensively.
You didnât respond to him, tears glistening in your eyes.
The boy cursed under his breath, quickly focusing on you once again, âIâm sorry.. Iâm so sorry angel that I left you here alone..â he whispered, gently kissing your forehead, âIâll take you home now.â
âJeonghan, dude! Your friend is so damn pretty,â Changmin yelled, lazily getting up from the chair, stumbling over his own legs, âCan I have her number? You know that I like girls like her, especially in bed.â
You could see how Jeonghanâs face immediately darkened, and he let out a loud scoff after hearing the boyâs question. He took a deep breath and grasped your hand.
âOkay, then Iâll text you later!â Changmin shouted.
Not even glancing back anymore you two left the restaurant, immediately getting into Jeonghanâs car.
This time, the silence was really uncomfortable, compared to the time you drove here. The atmosphere between you not knowing why thickened.
During the whole way home, Jeonghan was silent. He focused on the road, still holding your hand, and only taking small glances at you from time to time. There were a few times when you wanted to say something, but as your mouth opened, nothing came out. You thought as if youâre going to explode from the nervousness you felt at that moment.
When you finally reached your apartment, you walked into it silently, taking off your coats and shoes.
You knew that the boy was trying to give you some time and space, but as youâve already known Jeonghan well, you knew that something was bothering him as well.
The boy muttered something about getting a glass of water for himself, and you, feeling guilty about everything that had happened, decided to follow him to the kitchen like a puppy.
He took a glass for himself and also for you, and poured some water for you to drink before drinking from his glass. But you had other plans than drinking that stupid water.
You knew it was finally the time to destroy the wall between the two of you.
âJeonghan-â you said, but in the blink of an eye his glass hit the hard surface of your kitchen island and he scooped you up, placing you on the countertop.
Jeonghanâs arms rested by the two of your sides, securing you, as he stood between your legs. He was silent, with his head lowered.
Your heart was beating like crazy and your breathing sped up. You had no idea what you should do in this situation.
âItâs so.. fucking frustrating.â the boy hissed, still not looking at you. You decided to give him time and you waited for him patiently.
Finally, after a while the boy raised his head, looking straight into your eyes. As he was slightly bent down, his eyes were on the same level as your, dangerously close to your face.
âItâs so fucking frustrating, that people canât see that we are together. That you canât call me yours, and I canât call you mine. That I have to tell everyone that weâre just friends. That we canât have any, even the smallest interactions..â he stopped for a second, being completely drowned in your eyes.
âPlease.. y/n.â Jeonghan sighed painfully, âCanât you see how hard Iâm trying? Just give.. us a chance. I will show you that we can be together in the public, and that we can survive by being by each otherâs side. Because I love you, y/n.â
And for the first time in your life, you saw Jeonghan's eyes fill with tears, making it really hard for you to also not tear up.
âA-and..â he stuttered, as his voice slowly started to break.
âRecently Iâm not even sure anymore if you still love me the same way as I do.â
Ouch.
Just one sentence. Small like a needle, but painful like a knife.
You immediately cupped Jeonghanâs face, wiping his tears away with your thumb. The boy had stuck his eyes still to yours, desperately looking for an answer.
âIâm sorry, Iâm so so so.. sorry, that I made you feel that way..â you uttered, âI was blind, mainly following my feelings and needs, while not focusing enough on yours, which you also had.â you stopped for a second, taking a big breath to not let your voice break.
âYouâve always been so patient with me, always honest and so soft with the way you treated me.. You protected me, and was with me when I needed you the most. And I..â your voice broke, and you let out a shaky sigh.
âI gave you nothing back but rules. I feel so stupid because of that..â your eyes shone with the tears that you couldnât hold in anymore. Jeonghan was listening to you silently, with his eyes still watery, but now you could find hope in it.
âIâm so sorry, Hannie..â you whispered as you brought the boy closer, crossing your hands over his shoulders. He snuggled into the crook of your neck, while holding your waist tightly, and inhaling your scent.
You stayed in this position for a few good minutes, before you finally pulled away, resting your foreheads over yourselves. You had your eyes stuck on Jeonghanâs shining ones, and he had on yours. And at that point, when you were staring at your boyfriend, you'd made up your mind.
You were ready.
âHannie..â you uttered.
The boy sent you a soft smile, âYes, angel?â he murmured.
âI want us to be visible. I donât want us to hide anymore.â you decided, immediately noticing how much you caught Jeonghan off guard by your sudden statement.
On the spur of the moment and Jeonghanâs confusion, you leaned down and placed your lips on top of his, connecting you in a soft kiss.
At first, Jeonghan didnât react to your action. But then he melted into the kiss, turning it into a passionate and hungry kiss. He quickly cupped your cheeks with one of his hands, holding your face gently while not allowing you to pull away with his other hand that rested on your waist.
You ran your hands through his soft, dark hair. The boy lifted your body from the kitchen island, and you wrapped your legs around his waist, not breaking the kiss as the boy made his way to your bedroom.
Yeah.
You were sure that you wanted to make you two visible.
The sound of the messages blowing up your phone has been ringing for the past 15 minutes, echoing in your room. Irritated by another incoming call, you finally woke up, and it turned out that it was Millie, the same as all of the messages.
You answered the call and put it on the speaker, placing your phone next to your pillow as you layed back on the bed.
âMillie.. I swear to god, if itâs something unimportant and you woke me up on the day when the lectures start later-â
âWait y/n! Have you checked my messages?â Millieâs loud voice made you squeeze your eyes from the loudness, as you were still half asleep.
A sigh left your mouth, âGirl be for real. You just woke me up, how could I check your messages?â you muttered while rubbing your eyes.
âThen check it! I think you need to see it!â Millie shouted, and lazily, you took your phone, unlocking it and going straight to messages.
Millie sent you a screenshot with an Instagram post, uploaded by Siyeon. She took a selfie with Jeonghan, who sat next to her (probably not even knowing she was taking photos).
You immediately noticed that this photo was taken at the meeting that you attended a few days ago. Siyeon was wearing the same, short burgundy dress she wore that day, and Jeonghan had the same black shirt on.
But the most disturbing thing was the description she wrote under the post.

SolLaSiyeon: finally breaking the radio silence đ
âCan you believe that Lim Siyeon is in a relationship with Yoon Jeonghan?!â Millie squealed on the other side, and she started talking about something, but her voice began to gradually mute. You didnât respond, being completely stunned by what you just saw.
âWait. How do you know theyâre together?â you asked, wanting to deny Millieâs assumption, âShe didnât say anything about it.â
âOh y/n.. the title holds the whole meaning!â your best friend was quick to answer you, âShe breaks the radio silence while posting a photo with Yoon Jeonghan. And in the description she writes âbreaking the radio silenceâ which refers to the gossip about Jeonghanâs girlfriend!â
Now it actually made sense, what made you feel even more terrified.
That one scene kept playing in your mind.
âWhy did you two come together? Are you two dating or something?â
The girl was planning it from the beginning, making sure that her plan would work out.
Your best friend was still talking about something, but you didnât really have the time to listen about how Joshua did this and that, so unfortunately you had to cut her off, âSorry, Millie, but I really have to go. Iâll see you at the lectures later.â and you hung up, quickly getting up from the bed to get ready.
You couldnât just leave it like that, you had to do something.
But what exactly..?
Your heart was racing and you felt like throwing up. You were waiting by one of the lecture halls, pacing back and forth while trying to calm yourself down. From what youâve heard from some people on the campus, Siyeon was supposed to finish her lecture now, making it easier for you to catch her and talk with her.
And just as you were coming by the door again, it opened widely and people started to flood out of the room. You waited, standing on the side by the wall, while nervously biting your lower lip. You kept observing when the girl would come out from the lecture hall.
Finally, after some seconds you noticed the familiar face, immediately feeling how your insides start to roll from the stress. Siyeon was talking with one of her friends, not even sparing one glance at you, being deeply immersed in her conversation.
You took one deep breath before following them, and finally calling Siyeonâs name. The girl stopped her movements and turned around to face you, immediately putting the fake âshit i have to look friendlyâ smile on her face.
âHi y/n, whatâs up?â she asked, trying to sound as enthusiastic as she could. You gulped, feeling how hot your whole body started to feel.
âHi,â you mumbled, âCould I ask you a favor?â the girl looked at you questioningly.
âCould you delete the post with Jeonghan that you recently posted?â
Siyeonâs eyes grew bigger as her smile turned into a grimace. âHuh why? Is something wrong with that, sweetie?â
âI donât want you to create confusion and another round of gossip about my boyfriend.â
There you go. You finally said that.
However, the girl pressed her lips tightly, and looked at her friend, bursting out laughing. The wave of coldness ran through your body. That wasnât something you expected.
âOkay, o-okay,â Siyeon stuttered, trying to calm down from laughing, âYou got us. That was a nice one, y/n. Now if you excuse us-â
âIâm not finished.â
Suddenly, your hand gripped onto her wrist, stopping her mid-step from walking away. Siyeon glanced at your hand that was tightened around her forearm. She rolled her eyes, letting out a scoff as she turned around to face you.
Then you finally noticed how people started to circle you, observing whatâs happening, some even recording. Your mouth immediately felt dry but you knew you couldnât give up now.
âI donât want you to post any more photos that include my boyfriend, while trying to make an impression as if he is your boyfriend. Yes! We might have been secret about our relationship, but itâs not as if we didnât have the right to. Itâs actually none of anyoneâs business who Jeonghan is dating, because it shouldnât be anyoneâs main concern. But, when you post a photo with a description that says âbreaking the radio silenceâ as if youâre proposing to everyone, that you two are dating, then nothing else is left for me than to finally reveal the main secret, that everyone has been dying to find out the truth.â you smirked, while letting out a quiet snark.
âYoon Jeonghan is dating me. I am his girlfriend, and Jeonghan is mine.â
Everyone and everything around you fell silent. The only thing you could hear at that moment was your rapidly beating heart, and your own breathing.
After some seconds, you finally looked at Siyeon, only to find she wasnât looking at you. The girl had her eyes set on something behind your figure. You frowned, and slowly turned around.
At that moment, you felt as if your heart dropped. Your whole body froze, the feeling of embarrassment and shame striking you right at that specific moment.
Because no one else than Yoon Jeonghan himself was standing a few meters from you, in front of the whole crowd. He had his hands stuck in the pockets of his jeans, head tilted a little to the side while a proud smirk was stuck to his lips.
When Siyeon finally came out of her daze, she hit your stiff figure with her shoulder as she ran up to Jeonghan, pouting. âJeonghanie! Did you hear what that crazy chick was saying? Isnât she stupid? How could she even say such insane things! Youâre not her boyfrie-â
âOh, but I am.â he cut her off, with that lazy smirk he always loved to wear.
If your speech made an impact on people who stood around you, Jeonghanâs approval surely caught the whole crowd off guard. Everyone started to whisper, gossip and murmur about something.
âW-what?â Siyeonâs lips started to tremble, âBut oppa..â she whined, trying to argue with him, but Jeonghan simply ignored her.
He slowly approached your shaking figure, sending you a warm grin. Gently, he took your hand and connected it with his, intertwining your fingers. The boy left a butterfly kiss on your knuckles, immediately getting sounds of adorations and approval from around.
Your eyes met his, and the boy whispered, âTrust me.â
Jeonghan slowly walked out of the crowd, pulling you out from that corridor. The two of you left the building silently, and finally when you were in the campusâ park, you had to break the silence.
âHannie..â you removed your hand from his, gaining a questioning look from your boyfriend, âListen, Iâm sorry.. I know I should have stopped myself from doing it, from getting jealous, from confronting Siyeon, and from letting out the secret, but believe me I didnât do it on purpose.. I-I.. ah..â you stuttered, being lost in your words, âI couldnât just leave it like that when everyone started to gossip about you being in a relationship with her and-â
ây/n, stop.â Jeonghanâs firm voice ran through your whole body, shutting you up right away.
The boy chuckled, gently cupping your cheeks with his palms, and looking deeply into your eyes with his shining ones.
âDid you really think I would get mad at you for any of these? Angel.. why would I even do that..? You canât imagine how happy I felt when you finally gave us a green light. But still, I wanted you specifically to tell us about us and our relationship.â he caressed your cheeks with his knuckles, smiling at your pouting face.
âAnd that moment when you claimed that youâre my girlfriend and Iâm only yours? Damn, sweetheart, that was so hot-â
âYoon Jeonghan!â he immediately got rewarded with a slap on his shoulder as the boy bursted out laughing at your shyness.
âOkay, Iâm sorry!â he giggled, and you finally broke the grimace, sending him a soft smile.
âBut seriously, you canât even believe how happy you just have made me right there.â Jeonghan added, and left a sweet kiss on your forehead before conecting your hands once again.
âHot chocolate?â he asked charmingly.
âHot chocolate.â you nodded.
Walking down the main sidewalk of your campus, many people looked at you, and specifically at your intertwined hands. With your cheeks burning red, you took your phone out of your pocket, only to find lots of calls and messages from people from the campus. And one of them was Millie.
Millie:

As you think of it now, while laying peacefully in your bed and having Jeonghan snuggled into the crook of your neck, even if you liked the way you two functioned while being âinvisibleâ, you had to agree.

summary: when the the dark days when you felt worthless came, your sweet boyfriend was always the one to help you. however, recently, as heâs preparing for the new album, you are afraid to disturb him in his work. but how could you forget about his promise?
a/n: iâm sorry for being inactive past few months </3 i had a really hard time in my life, but now as everything is better, iâm comimg back to you all with a new angst-fluff fanfic with our angel, jeonghan <3 hope youâll enjoy it ! ( ÂŽ ✠` ).ïœĄïœâĄ
You immediately knew.
Right when you woke up, you could feel that today was going to be one of those days. With your tendency of bottling your emotions inside of you, there had to come a day where all of it would come out.
And not having Jeonghan next to you right when you opened your eyes in the morning to calm you down, made everything even worse.
He was your comfort, your peace, your safe place. Without him by your side, everything seemed colorless. That boy could make your smile come back again just by seeing his face. However, each of his smirks when he looked at you, his sweet laugh, and his warm and cozy hugs were still your favorite things.
And you did understand that since the boys were preparing for their comeback, they had to practice hard. But deep down, you hoped that Jeonghan could be with you all day, keeping you close to him, whispering sweet nothings into your ear, while making you sink into his scent that you adored so much.
Your gaze slowly moved to the window next to your bed, noticing that the rain was pouring pretty bad outside. Even the sky was crying with you.
Not so long after, the first tears ran down your cheek as you couldnât hold them back anymore.
Recently, life has been really rough to you, not making it easier to keep a smile on your face. When you already had enough of your boss at work, then that one, stupid girl was making your situation even worse. Whatever you did, she always had to make a competition from it. And the fact that frustrated you the most, was that most of the time, she was doing your work even better than you.
Additionally, of course you had to get into another quarrel with your sibling. As if they couldnât just leave you alone. You both had separate lives so why did they have to disturb you?
The cherry on top was your overthinking. About literally everything. About your life, your future, what could you do to finally love yourself, and also about your relationship with Jeonghan.
Are you a good girlfriend to him? Does he already have enough of you? Are you even enough for him?
Yeah, those days have always sucked. And you knew that there was only one medication for it. Yoon Jeonghan. If you could at least hear his voice.. No, you shouldnât call him. He was practicing, and eventually heâll come home later..? You deeply hoped that the âlaterâ will actually come quickly.
But as you were deep in your thoughts once again, the part of you which wanted to call him had taken control of your body. Quickly, you reached over to the bedside table for your phone, and opened your contacts immediately. You hesitated for a moment when you clicked on Jeonghanâs profile, however not even a second later you clicked the call button.
And after a few signals, you heard, âYes, angel?â
Your boyfriendâs voice at the other side of the call sounded so sweet but at the same time he sounded exhausted, making the tears roll up to your eyes once again, threatening to fall any second.
Shit, you really needed him.
You let out a shaky sigh, âHannie..â your voice was almost inaudible.
Even when you called him, you havenât thought about what you wanted to tell him.
âAre you okay?â
You wanted to say that everything was fine, that you were fine. But you couldn't.
And this question made the tears in your eyes fall down really quickly, âNothingâs right..â you cried into the phone, which made Jeonghanâs heart squeeze painfully. He knew that things had to be rough if you were crying.
His voice immediately became softer, âYouâre crying..â he whispered, worried, âAre you home?â Jeonghan asked gently.
âYes..â you sobbed, just unable to get it under control. He immediately hung up, and not knowing what to do, you started to cry even louder.
You snuggled into the sheets of your bed, muffling the sounds of your cries. And like that, you slowly fell asleep one more time, with tears still coming down your eyes.
The sound of thunder outside made you open your eyes, with your heart beating rapidly. Your breathing was irregular, and you felt hot. Especially from your back. And that was when you finally realized that a pair of slender arms were wrapped around your waist, keeping you close.
âDid you sleep well, angel?â you heard Jeonghanâs concerned voice behind you.
The boy left a soft kiss on your neck, making you shudder at his gentle action. âIâm sorry, I didnât mean to scare you.â he snuggled closer to you, and you turned around to look at him.
You knew that you probably looked awful, with your eyes red from crying, cheeks puffy from the tears that rolled down past few hours, and your hair messy.
But there he was, laying next to you, looking like a literal angel. His long, black hair was spreaded peacefully all over the pillow. He was dressed in fresh clothes, as he probably took a quick shower after the practice. His eyes shone beautifully, holding all of the stars from the universe in them. So ethereal, and so unreal.
You were glad that he was here with you.
âIâm s-sorry..â you whispered, with your voice starting to break, âI shouldnât have called you. Youâre busy preparing for your new album, and you still probably havenât eaten.. it was selfish of me to not think about-â Jeonghan quickly shushed you by placing his lips on top of yours, connecting you in a sweet and full of love kiss.
The boy smiled softly, and tugged the messy hair strand behind your ear, âStop saying nonsense, sweetheart.â he muttered, âYou know that you can call me everytime, no matter what. Iâm always here for you, love.â he said, to which a fresh turn of tears appeared in the corners of your eyes.
Jeonghan chuckled lightly and reached to gently wipe the tears from your eyes with his thumb.
âI feel like Iâm a burden to you, Jeonghan.â
The silence in your room was overwhelming, only interrupted by the rain tapping against the window. You looked at Jeonghan, and your breath immediately hitched in your lungs as you found him staring at you, stunned. Your eyes wandered on his face, trying to catch every single emotion that he showed.
âI.. feel like Iâm something thatâs stopping you from what youâre doing. That..â your voice broke, feeling how your throat started to clench, âThat I shouldnât be with you.â
And even if you wanted him to scream at you, ask if you lost your mind, tell you that youâre stupid for thinking like that⊠nothing like this happened.
The boy only reached both of his hands to you, while scooping your fragile body and placing you on top of him. The steady beating of his heart was calming you, and his warmth soothed your nerves. You placed your head in the crook of his neck, breathing in his scent that immediately made you feel safe.
âIâm sorry.â Jeonghan whispered, âIâm sorry if I made you feel that way.â his voice was fragile, almost not hearable.
âHowever, I need you to know that youâre never a burden to me. Never.â his hands were wandering over your back, caressing it gently.
âI need you in my life, y/n.â he stated, and a sob escaped from your lips which made Jeonghan shiver, âBecause without you, Iâm no one.â
âLiar.â you mumbled through your tears, âNo, Iâm speaking the truth. From the depth of my heart.â
After a while, when you finally calmed down, the boy started once again, âYou canât let someone make you feel that youâre a failure, because youâre not. I love every part of you, every single one, my angel. Youâre the most precious person Iâve ever met, and youâre not unlovable, donât even let yourself think like that.â he kept reassuring you, your tears falling onto the collar of his black t-shirt, making it damp.
âT-thank you..â you whispered, feeling a pleasant warmth spreading in your chest.
You truly needed to hear those words.
Suddenly, the boy turned both of you over, to which now he was above you, supporting himself with his arms. The sight of Jeonghanâs mesmerizing eyes above you, made you gasp for a breath.
âI promised to love and care about you, didnât I?â he said with a cocky grin, and you immediately looked at your promise ring that was on your ring finger.
In the moment of your distraction, he leaned down, and left a kiss on your forehead, âI love this part of you,â he said, then he kissed your temple, âand this,â he kissed your cheek, to which to let out a small chuckle, âand thisâ he kissed your nose, âand I love this the most.â he left a hungry and full of love kiss on your lips, to which you immediately reciprocated.
When Jeonghan pulled back, the sound of your sweet giggles was heard in the room, immediately warming the cockles of his heart. It was his favorite sound. He could listen to it everyday and all the time.
Another turn of butterfly kisses was left all over your face to which you laughed out loud brightly.
âI love you.â Jeonghan said suddenly, with a big grin on his lips, and love visible in his eyes.
You placed your hand on his cheek, making him melt under your gentle touch as he slowly closed his eyes.
Those three words were still making an impression on you. Especially when Jeonghan spoke those words. To you.
âI love you more.â you replied, and brought him closer to you, connecting both of you in another kiss.
âOkay sweetheart, I promised to also care for you, so we need to eat something.â he said, and a groan left your lips at the bare thought of getting out of bed and preparing the food.
âBut donât worry, I ordered takeout food for us.â he added, to which your eyes immediately shone with excitement, making Jeonghan laugh at your cute reaction.
He truly loved you.
Thatâs how Jeonghan was completing his promise of loving and caring about you. Because if Yoon Jeonghan did make a promise, you had to expect him to fulfill it.

For a long time, you had difficulties in responding every time someone asked you even the most basic question which is âwhat is your favorite part of the day?â. Because the truth was that you didnât know.
Mornings were always something that you adored the most since you were a child. Just the thought of waking up with the smell of your favorite breakfast, excitement about playing with your puppy in the garden, and meeting your friends at school was always making you feel so hyped up, that when you were falling asleep, you wanted the night to already be gone.Â
But as youâve grown up, things have changed. Drastically. You were no longer happy when you saw the sun rising, because it only meant that you had to face another day, and you didnât know if you were able to. Favorite breakfast has already turned into just a cup of coffee, your parents sold your beloved dog to get money for drugs and alcohol, your friends already found new groups and when you came back home in the evenings, you just wanted to lay down and sleep as long as you could.Â
Basically, your mornings just turned into hell.Â
Youâve been struggling with it since high school, fighting for your life each day as the sun was going higher on the sky, and well.. you wouldnât agree with it anymore.Â
Because itâs been quite a long time since you finished college, and everything has changed. Your breakfast finally came back to a normal dish, the sun in the sky made you smile like a fool, and you could hang out with your best friend and a group of friends.
But most importantly, now you loved mornings again, and all of that was made by the sudden changes in your life.
Your favorite mornings were the ones that you could spend while being snuggled into the chest of your beloved husband â Yoon Jeonghan. The love of your life, and the one who helped you a lot.
Who would have thought that the collegeâs known trickster would make you fall in love with him so deeply, and him even deeper with you.
Who would have thought that one boy would change your life entirely?
You still remember that one day very clearly. As if it happened yesterday, and not actually 7 years ago. It was your best friendâs and her twinâs birthday party. Minsoo and Mingyu were turning 18 and they were throwing a birthday party at their house, so you couldnât miss that special day just because you felt badly (since the morning). So after taking some painkillers and sleeping a lot, and making a tissue store, you were ready to go although still not feeling well.
At around 5:30 PM you reached the twinâs house as you promised Minsoo to help her with the decorations. It turned out that the decorations were already all settled up, but the girl was a bundle of nerves when she opened the door and let you in. Mingyu was preparing all of the alcohol stuff for tonight, and as soon as he noticed you, he waved happily, sending his adorable, puppy smile to you, and went outside to check all the stuff in the garden.
Minsoo was stressed. But maybe stressed was not really the right word to use; Minsoo was panicking. The girl couldnât calm herself down while wandering pointlessly around the salon. So you decided to take her to her room, but she started to nervously walk around her place. Your eyes were lazily following her figure as the girl already started to also bite her lower lip with her hands crossed over her chest.
âMind telling me what happened?â finally you asked, and grabbed her wrist to stop Minsoo from walking, âHey, calm down or youâre going to make a hole in your floor from your walking.â feeling how your head started to hurt one more time, you laid down on her bed.
âAish!â the girl cursed, âMingyu told me 30 minutes ago that Seungcheol is going to be here too!â she shouted, sighing at the end.
âAnd whatâs the problem with that?â one of your arms landed over your face, closing your eyes to not focus that much on the pain, âGosh, y/n! You know damn well the reason..â Minsoo whined, burying her face into her hands.
Ah, yes.Â
Seungchol has been Minsooâs crush since you two were freshmen. But as Mingyu got into the friend group where Seungchol was also in, Minsooâs hopes grew even higher, praying that maybe the one and only Choi Seungcheol will actually choose her.
You raised yourself up, and looked at her with some pity, âAnd all about that one boy?â the girl didnât respond to you as she only sat on the bed next to you with her head lowered down, gripping tightly the end of her skirt.
âHey, Soo-yah,â you cupped her face and turned her to look at you, while gently squeezing her rose-pink cheeks, âYou look stunning today and youâre the best the way you are. If heâs not gonna choose you, well.. then fuck it! It doesnât matter, itâs your big day and you have to feel special. But if he will..â Minsoo looked at you hopefully, and you smiled at her brightly, âThen Iâm always going to support you two.â
Minsoo hugged you tightly, âIâm sorry that I made you come here. Youâre sick, and you should stay at home..â the girl moved away to look at you, but you only chuckled at her words, âI know Iâm not really a party girl, but my best friend has her 18th birthday and I cannot miss it, even if Iâm sick.â you two laughed happily.
âBut you know.. Jeonghanâs also going to be here.â the girl mumbled quietly. As soon as you heard that name, the smile on your face vanished immediately as you widened your eyes a little.
âAre you kidding me?âÂ
And so from that moment, invariably with the headache, runny nose and a feeling of throwing up you were trying to avoid that boy as much as you could. The campusâ playboy and trickster, Yoon Jeonghan. The one that made every girl open her legs in front of him.Â
You hated his behavior so much.
You were hiding in Minsooâs room as the girl insisted on you staying here to rest. She closed the curtains, and told you to lay down on her bed. But as much as you wanted to sleep, the singing or even yelling from the karaoke downstairs and the loud music were totally against your sleeping.
As you couldnât stand laying in the bed anymore, so weakly you left Minsooâs room and came closer towards the railings to observe the whole party from the second floor.Â
Your best friend was stuck between Soonyoung, Seungcheol, Seokmin and Seungkwan while shouting the lyrics of the song, and a lot of people were singing with them, drinking, and some even making out by the walls.Â
But then you spotted him. Dressed in a perfectly fitted black turtleneck and black pants, sitting on the couch next to Joshua. A glass of whisky was resting in his hand, as they were surrounded by a group of girls to which he was sending his charming smile.Â
But when the boy noticed you, leaning against the railing, Jeonghan sent you a questioning look, and you just showed him a middle finger. You couldnât stop rolling your eyes at the sight of him smirking at your reaction, and suddenly you really felt like throwing up.Â
You didnât even know if it was by Jeonghanâs face or by the sickness.
Rushing quickly to the toilet, you of course had to find another pair making out on the washing machine, but as soon as they looked at you, they left the room quickly, still glued to themselves.Â
That also hasnât been unseen by him, following your every move with his beautiful eyes.
But you couldnât hold it anymore, and you just ran straight to the water closet. You truly wished you werenât here, puking with the possibility of a stranger coming in and seeing you like this. You wished you could be at your home, with your mother who would take care of you. You wished someone would actually care about you.
And just then, suddenly, someone grasped your hair that was falling over your eyes, and whispered, âShh.. itâs okay.â they started to gently caress your back.
âOh god, someone please pinch me.â you thought to yourself as you immediately recognized the voice.
âGet out.â you hissed, not even looking at him, âI donât need your help, Yoon.â
âOh angel, yes you do.â Jeonghan uttered softly, and you could hear how a smirk appeared on his face.Â
You didnât say anything back as you slowly started to feel embarrassed that the boy saw you in that state. But ugh, seriously? Out of all the people that could have gone in here, did it really have to be him?
I didnât understand then how lucky I was that it was actually him who helped me, and not someone else.
Jeonghan assisted you as you were trying to stand up by yourself, and helped you clean up, âOkay, thanks for your help, I can take care of myself. Now you can go back to your ladies.â you muttered, wiping your hands and face in the towel, âI bet theyâre craving for you.â you added, but just when you were about to move from the boy, your legs didnât want to cooperate with you as they bent under you and almost made you fall to the ground if not Jeonghan, who quickly catched you with his arms.
âYeah, sure. Youâre totally able to take care of yourself in this state.â the boy mocked you, which made you snort annoyingly at his words. He started to really irritate you. Why was he even here? Why didnât he stay with those girls?
And not even 5 minutes later, Jeonghan helped you to get safely to Minsooâs bed, tugging you under the soft sheets. Your head, although, started to hurt even stronger, making you slightly wince.
It was not left unseen by Jeonghan as his palm quickly touched your forehead, ây/n.. youâre burning up..â he said softly, with anxiety heard in his voice. You smiled softly to him, as you didnât know what to do anymore. In a blink of an eye, the boy rushed out of the room which made you think that maybe he finally left you alone, letting you fall asleep.
But not long after, you heard someoneâs whisper, ây/n, can you hear me?â you opened your eyes, and saw Jeonghan crouching next to Minsooâs bed with a glass of water and an ice compress in his hand.
At that moment you wanted to smack your head against the wall from the embarrassment a few times.Â
Why was he like this? Couldnât he just LEAVE?
You raised yourself a bit on your elbows, and Jeonghan helped you to drink the water. It was unbelievable that you didnât even realize how thirsty you actually were. When you finished drinking the whole liquid from the glass, the boy placed it on the side table that stood next to the bed.
âI think that the amount of pills youâve taken today made you puke. Thatâs why I decided to not give you another one, but I took this ice compress from their freezer.â he said softly, and you took the cold cure from his hand, and placed it gently over your head, with the boyâs stare locked on your sleepy and pale face.
âYouâre annoying, Yoon.â you mumbled, âWhy are you here, and not downstairs with everyone? Let me be alone. You can get sick because of me.â
âI donât care.â Jeonghan said without even thinking twice, âAll they want is to make out with me or get drunk, but I have more important things to do.â
âI hate you.â your voice became even weaker and fragile as you turned his back to him, which made Jeonghan smile sadly. The boy stood up, and walked around the bed to sit on the other side of the bed, leaning his back against the headboard.. Luckily, Minsooâs bed was big enough to fit 2 people in.Â
His body was so close to you which gave you so much comfort and safeness that you couldnât understand. Then, the boy started to gently play with your hair which made you melt under his touch.
You hated yourself. You hated the fact that he made you feel this way. You didnât want to feel like that.Â
But it was already too late.
In the morning, you woke up feeling much better. The high fever was already gone, and the weird feeling in your stomach also disappeared. But when you opened your eyes, you noticed that you slept snuggled into Jeonghanâs body, with his hand still resting over you, protecting you from getting cold. Your cheeks immediately started to burn, but you knew that this time it wasnât from the fever.
Not so long later, you finally were sitting by the kitchen island, surrounded by your friends, with Jeonghan sitting in front of you, sending you some glances from time to time. Minsoo was sitting by your right and the girl was looking at you with so much happiness in her. You mouthed a quiet âwhatâ to her, and the girl leaned closer to you.Â
Later you found out that while you were dying in Minsooâs room with Jeonghan by your side, your best friend had fun with her crush.
âOh by the way, where did you go last night, Jeonghan?â Joshua questioned making you immediately feel anxious about Jeonghanâs answer.
The boy smirked, âI had something very important to do.â he looked at you, as you sent him a warning look.
But if you had to be honest, you didnât complain about that night. You knew that if not that day, you probably wouldnât change your mind about Jeonghan.
And you were grateful to have someone like him in your life.Â
Each of his âGood morning, angel.â that you heard from him every morning, immediately put a smile on your lips as you mumbled a soft âmorningâ to Jeonghan, while he kissed your forehead softly.
And todayâs day was not different. Although this time, surprisingly it was you who woke up first.Â
The sunâs rays were shining through the blinds, lazily resting on your faces, and the sound of singing birds was echoing in your room.Â
Right when you opened your eyes, you found your husband lying on your left side with one of his hands (as usual) resting on your waist as it was his favorite place to lay his hand.Â
Just the sight of Jeonghan still resting peacefully beside you, made you feel like your heart both grew painfully large and quickly dropped into your stomach.
Even after those 2 years of dating and 5 years of your marriage, you felt like you could lay all day in bed, tracing his features for hours long. He looked angelic. His blonde, long hair spread out over the pillow, with his bangs hovering over his closed eyes, and the playful smirk that he had always worn smoothed out into a soft smile. You grinned, while realizing how he always manages to impress you that much, even in his sleep, doing nothing.
âItâs not nice to stare at someone like that, angel,â suddenly you heard Jeonghanâs voice which made you slightly flinch as you were sure that he was still asleep, âEspecially when theyâre asleep.â he added, and finally opened his eyes.
And there they were.
The most beautiful, dark and shiny thing that youâve ever seen, while being so deep and tempting as you looked into them. Because Yoon Jeonghanâs eyes were one of the many things that made you immediately fall in love with him.
The normal, cold, playful, disgusting and excited gaze, all of it looked so unique in his eyes, but you also had your favorite of all of them. His soft stare that he always treated you with, like it was reserved only for you.
And just like that, he was observing you, and you only.
âBut how did you know?â you snuggled closer to him, and he put his hands carefully over your body while locking you in a warm hug, âYou were still asleep just a minute ago.âÂ
Jeonghan chuckled softly, while smiling to himself, âOh baby, I always wake up before you, and it was not different this time. But I decided to lay with you for a few minutes before getting up.â he kissed your temple, while drowning deeply into your scent, âAnd I knew you have woken up because the way of your breathing has changed.âÂ
You chucked into his chest, âOkay, Iâm getting more impressed with you from day to day.âÂ
âAnd itâs been only 5 years, angel.â he moved you on top of him, and you hugged him like a koala, listening to his peaceful heartbeat. âI love you.â you whispered, what made Jeonghan giggle sweetly, with the vibrations of his laugh brushing your cheeks.
âI love you more, angel.â
Ah yes. You totally love mornings. Especially the mornings in heaven with Jeonghan. Those were your favorite.
your best friend is many things. smart, funny, empathetic, a complete and utter pain in your ass to name but a few. and on the evening of his twenty-eighth birthday, you discover something a little unexpected: jeonghan is very afraid of thunderstorms.Â
pairing : jeonghan x fem reader.
content : f2?. smut. fluff. a bit of angst. comfort. (MINORS DNI)
w/c : 6.3k
warnings : swearing. jeonghan has astraphobia / a fear of storms (for a brief period, he's a little fragile). intentional lowercase. smut tags utc. PLEASE let me know if i've forgotten anything.
notes : happy birthday to this sweetest of sweethearts. i would chew my right arm off if he asked me to. (barely proofread. if you see a typo, no you didn't.<3)
smut tags : pussy drunk jeonghan (my beloved), no real power dynamics but jh is a cocky mf and a bit of a dick, panty sniffing hehe, fingering, oral sex (f rec), reader is turned on by the storm. they're very unserious about it.
the lead actors meet in a kiss. the screen fades to black. so ends yet another round of your annual birthday movie nights.
jeonghan reaches for the remote and silences the end credit theme to the film youâve just finished watching at the same time as you lift your head up off his shoulder, stretching high above your head and letting out perhaps the loudest yawn (-stroke-moan) of your life. your joints ache from too long spent in one, rather cramped, position, your eyes feel heavy in the late hour. the room falls almost silent around you both, save for the harsh splashing of rain against the windows.Â
(this really doesnât help the fact that youâre seconds away from falling asleep.)
âwhat did you think?â jeonghan asks, stretching his long legs out in front of him.Â
ânot my best pick,â you say, scrunching your nose a little. ânot my worst, either.â
your best friend gives a short âhaâ of agreement, finally standing up off the couch. âcouldnât have said it better myself.âÂ
he gathers up the takeout boxes currently decorating his coffee table and grabs the now empty drinks glasses with his free hand, grunting softly as he stands fully upright again. you see him trying to roll out a kink in his neck and laugh from where youâre still settled comfortably in the couch cushions.
âyouâre going stiff in your old age,â you tease him, grinning brightly. he fires a look at you that simultaneously dares you to keep going down this path, and yet also, tiredly agrees. âremind me to book you a good massage for your birthday next year.â
he grunts something that sounds suspiciously like an instruction to go fuck yourself as he takes his leave from the room, carrying everything that needs to be thrown away or washed up into the kitchen. you busy yourself on your phone while heâs gone, deciding to check in on your weather app. you quite like the rain and youâre really not that worried about driving home in it; youâre just curious how long itâs going to last for.Â
in the delay of the app opening, a series of bright flashes bounce off every single wall in the living room. when you glance outside, the rain is falling harder than before; barely ten seconds later, a thunderclap roars through the ajar windows and you feel it all the way down into your tummy.Â
you donât have a chance to excitedly run across the room to get a look at the storm, though. a loud swear and the sound of crashing glass stings your eardrums before the rumble is even over. instead, youâre bolting through in the same direction jeonghan disappeared off in just moments ago, your heart having taken dangerous residence your stomach.
âwhatâs wrong?!â you ask as you skid around the corner in your socks, just managing to catch yourself from sliding straight into the wall at the end of the hallway. âi heard aââ
you freeze, then, falling silent. jeonghan is gripping onto the kitchen counter like his life depends on it with both shattered glasses laying at his feet; he looks like heâs seen a ghost, all white-knuckled and clammy and pale-lipped. itâs terrifying.Â
âhey,â you say, slowly making your way into the room, mindful not to startle him and even more careful not to stand on one of the many shards on the laminate. âwhat happened? are you okay?â
he nods, weakly. swallows hard. blinks a few times, curls and uncurls his fingers, steps back from the counter.Â
âyeah,â he breathes eventually, uncertain and still visibly shaken. he wipes his palms on his sweatpants and looks over at you, forcing a smile, but youâve known him for entirely too long to be sold on this terrible performance. âi, uh-...â
but jeonghan stops short, shaking his head, running out of words to say. for a moment, you think maybe heâs about to apologise; thatâs the shape his lips make, anyway. you cut in before he gets the chance.
âitâs okay,â you say, leaning one hip up against the counter. âgo sit down, iâll clear all this up. watch where you stand, though.â
âyou donât have toââ he starts, but you interject before he can even entertain the idea of cleaning the mess himself.
âi know i donât, but i want to. go. iâll only be a minute.â
begrudgingly, he agrees; you grab the broom from his kitchen cupboard and start slowly sweeping the broken glass into a dustpan while he carefully steps on the safe parts of the floor and makes his way back through to the living room. you make reasonably quick work of everything, emptying the fragments into the bin on top of the takeout boxes â all thatâs left by the time youâre finished a couple of minutes later, is to try and figure out what caused all this in the first place.
jeonghan isnât an easily shaken individual; you know this from years of experience. he seems to be able to catch you every time, without fail: whether heâs just popping out at you from behind a door and making you yelp, or heâs near-on giving you heart failure by texting you that something terrible has happened and that you need to come over, immediately, only for said âterribleâ thing to be that he got really comfy on the couch without making any popcorn. but regardless of all the numerous ways he manages to terrorise you, youâve never, ever managed to do the same back to him.Â
heâs always shrugged off your attempts, bragging that he just isnât afraid of anything. so⊠youâre not really any closer to finding an answer at the time of going back through to the living room with your backpack slung over one shoulder.
âyou wanna tell me what happened in there?â you ask, sitting down next to him on the couch. youâre sure his posture is supposed to be an attempt to convince you that heâs absolutely fine, now, but jeonghan looks stiff and is outright refusing to meet your eyes, despite your best attempts. again, unfortunately, you arenât so easily fooled.
âi just came over dizzy,â he lies, doing his best to play it down. âmaybe i stood up too fast and had a delayed reaction, i donât know.â
âiâve known corpses get up faster than you did, hannie,â you deadpan, laying one hand by his knee. âcome on. thatâs crap.â
he doesnât quite jerk away from you, but you do feel his thigh muscles tense under your touch. you slide your palm down onto the couch between you instead in an effort to make him a tiny bit more comfortable.Â
âitâs nothing,â he tries. âreally. itâsââ
âjeonghanââ
ây/n.â
the room around you falls silent, both of your stubborn personalities at a stalemate. he wonât talk, and you wonât let him stay quiet. itâs been this way for years. since you were teenagers, even. youâd think he would have learned by now. (he hopes that you might have, too.)
but, there is a fact at play that makes you stop staring him down, and you relax your shoulders slightly as you sit forwards.
âiâm only letting this go because itâs your birthday,â you sigh, clasping your hands together. âif it was any other day of the weekââ
âyeah, yeah. trust me. i know.â
thereâs an edge to his voice that almost sounds like your jeonghan. like the teasing menace you know and adore. almost. itâs missing something. missing his usual spark.
âi swear to god, though, if i find out youâre sick and youâre not telling me,â you mutter under your breath. not quite under your breath enough, mind â he hears you perfectly, and you can see, out of the corner of his eye as you start to rummage through your backpack for your car keys, the way his ears prick up.
âdonât be stupid, iâm not sick,â he says. the truth in these words, specifically, is evident in the weight of his voice, in the way his fingers brush against the small of your back. âi swear.â
âpinky swear?â you ask, turning to look at him over one shoulder.
he holds out his little finger on his right hand for you, both eyebrows raised in a silent challenge. you pinch your lips tight before hooking your own pinky through his, leaning in and pressing a short kiss to the pad of your thumb. the way you used to when you were kids. âyou really canât break those.â he used to say. âtheyâre like, triple the strengthâ. saved for really important promises. when he does the same, you know you can believe him.
âokay,â you concede, going back to your search. âin that case â i think iâm gonna head on home before the roads get flooded.â you had to learn the hard way that the drains in this part of town arenât known for their ability to handle much more than a middling rainfall.
somehow â always, somehow â buried at the very bottom of your backpack, you manage to find your keys and your hand curls around them as soon as you feel one of the rough edges against your fingertips. itâs barely been three seconds since your announcement, but jeonghan has managed to shuffle right into your personal bubble anyway and is now sitting with one arm pressed fully against your own.
âi donât know if itâs safe to drive when itâs like this,â he says quietly. âit seems dangerous.â
âi think iâll be okay if i leave, like, soon,â you try to reassure him.Â
âyou think,â he repeats, narrowing his eyes at you.Â
âiâve driven in so much worse, believe me,â you say. âdonât worry, iâll be careful.â
âwhy donât you just stay the night?â he offers. âyouâre not working tomorrow, are you?â
âiâm not,â you confirm, and you do genuinely consider the offer for a moment before deciding to decline. âbut i need a shower, andââ
jeonghan interrupts you, a little too quickly. âyou can use my shower, iâve got spare towels. iâll sleep on the couch. donât drive in this.â
âhannie, stop worrying,â you laugh, starting towards the door. âi promise, iâll go slow and iâll text you the second iâm home.â
ây/n,â he sighs, stepping towards you, jaw tense. âplease. just this once.â
you swallow, looking all over his face, trying to figure out what train of thought the cogs behind his eyes are turning in tune with, why heâs so stressed about this. youâve never known him behave like this sober. (youâve only ever known him to be like this once, at all, and he tried to kiss you, then, soâ)
âi reallyâŠâ you start, only to be interrupted by another brilliant white flash. your eyes dart to the window just in time to see the lightning bolt through the clouds, and you feel your face noticeably soften in wonder. barely four seconds later â itâs getting closer â the loudest thunder clap you think youâve heard in your life drowns out every thought youâve ever had.Â
every thought, except the sudden pressure of jeonghanâs fist around your forearm. every thought, except the stuttered gasp he lets slip. every thought, except the sudden fear in his too-wide-eyes.
oh, you think, realisation dawning on you as the blunt press of his nails grows just a fraction softer in time with the end of the rumble. thatâsâŠ
âitâs okay,â you say softly, taking a step closer to jeonghan and opening your arms for him to step into. âitâs okay. iâm here.â
he falls against you like an unsteady house of cards, his arms tight around your back and his head buried into the place in your shoulder where it fits the best. youâve never seen him like this, and youâre not really sure what to do with yourself; heâs always been the sturdy one, between the two of you. heâs always been your rock. thereâs a little bit of an irony in how heâs always been the one to help you weather the storm, but with the shoe on the other footâŠ
âhow can i help you?â you ask, trailing your fingers up and down his back, not really sure that he can feel you through the thick material of his sweatshirt but youâre trying your best, anyway.Â
he squeezes you tighter, buries his head further down into your shoulder, takes a few shaky breaths in through his mouth and screws his eyes shut a little more before he makes his request.Â
âplease stay with me.â
if your heart wasnât aching for him before, it most certainly is now. you nod to the room at large, hoping jeonghan can feel the movement even a little. you donât loosen your hold around him, though: you let your best friend cling to you for as long as his muscles will allow before they start to ache and he has to step away.Â
âcome with me,â you say once heâs finished running his fingers through his hair, trying to set it back to rights. âitâs okay.â you hold one of your hands out to him and he takes it, albeit apprehensively; giving his palm a squeeze with your own, you guide him through the apartment towards his bedroom.
âwhat are youâ?â he asks, and despite his earlier hesitance to hold onto your hand, he doesnât want to let go of you now youâve reached your destination. he just stands next to you, fingers threaded through yours, looking at your face with tired eyes and a lifted brow.Â
âgrab your bedsheets,â you tell him, shaking your hand free. âand your pillows. weâre gonna make a fort.â
âa what?â
âa blanket fort,â you say. âto hide from the storm.â
he doesnât say anything for a moment, and for a brief second, you think maybe the idea has offended him. his face hasnât lifted into the smile you sort of expected it to; instead, heâs just staring down at his bed as if heâs trying to will himself out of existence.
âwe donât have to do all that,â he says. âitâs⊠thatâs way too much?â
âitâs your birthday,â you counter. âand i want to make you a birthday fort. like we used to, when we were kids. itâll be fun!â
he gives a little sigh, but itâs not one of sadness or exasperation with you. itâs defeat. except, you think if you could taste it, youâd be able to pick up a tiny lacing of sweetness in his exhale.Â
âfine. youâre building it, though.â
you think itâs safe to say that perhaps, youâre a bit out of practice. you distinctly remember this being much easier when you were young: throwing bedsheets and blankets over the couch and propping them up with chairs or broomsticks. the forts that you would make as a child were, truly, a sight to behold: you used fairy-lights to decorate one, once, and it still remains one of your most prideful projects to date. the slight catastrophe that sits in jeonghanâs living room by the time youâve finished laying out the last few pillows is⊠more a cave, in your opinion, and not a very pretty one, but you emerge from it smiling anyway and jeonghan looks at you so fondly that no matter how rubbish it is, itâs worth the half an hour you spent putting it together.
âwhat do you think?â you ask, sitting back on your heels.
âitâs not your best,â jeonghan teases as he walks towards your monstrosity masterpiece, critically eyeing the âroofâ that would definitely fail any kind of health and safety audit. âbut itâs not your worst, either.â
a bright smile lights up your face as he drops down to his knees and crawls inside the space alongside you, letting the âdoorâ (a particularly thick blanket) fall down behind him. one of the (many, many, many, many, many) problems you encountered was trying to make one of these to fit two grown adults, but with him tucked away inside with you and a few flashlights to prevent you from being plunged into darkness⊠ignoring the potential for it all to come collapsing in on you at any given time, itâs surprisingly comfortable.Â
you lay back against the pillows first and jeonghan follows soon after, a weirdly gleeful smile playing at his lips as he does. he curls into your side and you talk, and talk, and talk. about everything. about nothing. it doesnât really matter.
youâre not quite sure why, but the deep roars of the storm outside donât seem to bother jeonghan quite as much in here. maybe itâs because heâs not alone, and thereâs no imminent threat for him to be: maybe your company really is making a difference. he still reaches for you every time thereâs a particularly loud clap, still closes his eyes and takes a series of deep breaths until his stress passes, but for whatever reason, he feels significantly less tense.
and when, after the third boom, he decides just⊠not to let go of your hand? who are you to try and force him?
thereâs⊠just one problem, though. youâre ecstatic that the storm isnât bothering jeonghan as much, now. that he can talk absolute nonsense to you in your private little hideaway, that he can lean his head against your shoulder and chuckle at your bad jokes and even crack a few of his own. genuinely, you could not be happier. for him.
but there was more reason than wanting to sleep in your own bed that had you desperately trying to get home before you realised the gravity of your best friendâs situation.Â
with every new growl of thunder outside, something low in your stomach twists, accompanied by an ache, a warmth, a throbbing between your thighs. at first, it was easy enough to battle through. you kept telling yourself that the thunder never lasts too long, that you could get through this without jeonghan being any the wiser, that everything was going to be fine. but now, almost an hour later, the buzz of electricity in the atmosphere and the entirely-too-addicting scent of your best friendâs fabric softener has you feeling hot enough you could faint.
you twist and shuffle over and over, hoping to find a position that eases the throbbing. itâs fine, you think, taking a deep breath and praying to every deity you can recall by name that jeonghan doesnât notice your discomfort. i can do this. itâs fine. just a little while longer.
a spectacular boom sounds through the apartment and jeonghanâs fingers tighten around yours so much that, against all your better judgement, you let out a loud gasp. not out of pain, though â no, you wish. if only it was that easy. ha. no â as he squeezes your hand, images flash through your mind of him being the one to relieve you of the tension building up beneath your skin. of him gripping and grasping and tugging, thrusting, tasting, adoring. your throat runs dry and you squeeze your thighs together desperately, pinching your lips tight, willing your pounding heart to calm the fuck down. willing your cunt to stop drooling into your panties.
âfuck,â you breathe when he finally lets go. you feel him shuffle at your side and prop himself up on one elbow, looking down at your face with mild terror written into the lines of his own.
âiâm so sorry â did that hurt?â he asks, searching your eyes for any kind of clue. you wish he wouldnât. surely, you think, pressing your tongue harshly against the roof of your mouth, surely my pupils are blown to oblivion, right now.
you shake your head, not trusting yourself to speak.
âare you sure?â he asks, slowly running his fingers down your arm, moving to take hold of your hand again if youâll let him. you flinch, the drag of his nails akin to an electric shock â like being struck by lightning, you tell yourself â and he snaps his hand back straight away. âwhatâs wrong?â
ânothing,â you hurry, pushing yourself up to sit (almost head-butting him in the process) and groaning at the way the seam on your jeans rubs against your clit. who wears fucking jeans to a movie night? what absolute moronâ
âdo you feel okay?â jeonghan questions, sitting fully upright now too. âdo you think it was the fooââ
âoh my god, please,â you whimper, bowing your head, letting your hair fall around your face, shielding you from him. just a little. not quite enough. âplease. iâm fine. stop asking. iâm fine.â
âsaid everyone, ever, who was in fact â not fine,â jeonghan quips. âdo you need water? i can help, just talk to meââ
âjeonghan,â you snap, whipping your head back up. your face feels hot and you donât know if youâve ever felt this tense before in all your years on this earth. all your muscles are tweaking in anticipation for something that most certainly is not going to happen, and you really need him to stop talking in that deep, smooth, caring voice. with immediate effect. for the love of god âÂ
âŠand heaven above, the penny drops.Â
jeonghanâs concerned expression turns to one of complete shock and you cover your face with both hands, trying so desperately hard not to be perceived by him in this most humiliating of moments. he doesnât say anything for a second, and you tell yourself that heâs probably trying to find either a terrible joke to ease the tension or a way to tell you to go home. you donât know which would be worse, but itâs only a matter of time until you find out.
therefore, you definitely donât expect him to pry your hands away from your cheeks, and for his shit-eating, impishly charming, handsome-as-fuck grin to be the first thing your eyes land on when you open them.
âreally? thunderstorms?â he asks, close enough that you feel the breaths that his words donât quite steal. âthatâs your kink?â
âitâs not a kink,â you whine, throwing your hands down either side of you. he doesnât release his hold on your wrist, though. âcome on, donât beââ
âof all the things you could be into,â he says. oh, heâs back. heâs back with a vengeance. you suppose, really, you should be glad that heâs feeling more like his usual self, but the fact that itâs at your expense? that thereâs no-one else around for him to turn on instead? that this is your topic of conversation at ten past midnight on his living room floor?
âhannie, please,â you huff, lips drawing downwards into a frowning pout. the ache isnât going away. why isnât it going away? why is this cocky, smirking version of your best friend making you feel even hotter under the collar? whatâs going on? âdonât you think iâve suffered enough?â
ânot even nearly,â he says, sitting up on his knees, resting his palms on his thighs. âsince when? how did you even figââ
boom.
and his jaw falls slack, watching you squirm.
youâre quite literally fighting for your life. or, at minimum, for your friendship. because, really, you could jump jeonghanâs bones right now and you donât actually think heâd turn you down (something to be filed under: thoughts that are not making this any easier). but thatâs not what youâre trying to do; youâre trying to help him feel better, and take his mind off his fear, and when he pulls his bottom lip between his bottom teeth before speaking â
âokay, wait. hear me out.â
to both of your surprises, you do. you donât try and protest, which he was sort of expecting you to do. you donât tell him to shut up, you donât try and get away from him. you sit there, eyes wide, hands curling into the blankets beneath your slowly numbing ass, and you wait for him to continue.
âi can help you.â
your heart shoots up into your throat and you struggle to swallow around it. your breaths are heavy, laboured, your lips parted and a little swollen from how youâve been biting at them for the past hour and a bit.
âyou donât have toââ
âshut up, y/n,â he says dismissively, crawling in front of you and lifting your hands away from the bedding youâre kneading (pathetically, in his professional opinion) like a cat. âlisten. youâve helped me so much tonight, you donât even know. let me return the favour.â
âhannieâŠâ
âhannie,â he whines, in a poor imitation of your voice. âhannie, i only helped you because you needed meâ is that it? look at you, y/n. youâre a mess.â
if this were anyone else, youâd be livid. not only at the way he so effortlessly makes fun of you, but at the fact that he accurately finished your sentence without having anything more than an affectionate nickname to work from as a hint. you donât know what to say, suddenly stunned into silence, but itâs all right. you donât need to say anything; he keeps going.
âyou need me. let me help you â look. itâs my birthday.â
he wants this, you think to yourself, growing slightly concerned by the way your heart continues to hammer in your throat. he wants⊠me.
you give one slow, but definite, nod of your head and jeonghanâs grin grows from cocky to genuine. he crawls until heâs right up in your space, lifting a hand to your cheek, and you forget how to breathe for a moment as he looks you in the eyes with more heat than the mid-august sun.
âlie down,â he says, pushing that last little bit closer and capturing your lips in a kiss. itâs short, but mind-boggling. your brain goes totally blank when he pulls away. âitâs okay. iâve got you.â
but you do as he says and shuffle around the little fort so youâre on your back, head resting against one of the many pillows youâre grateful you brought in here with you. he crawls on top of you, then, caging you in with one hand either side of your head, settling with one of his knees slotted between your just-parted thighs.Â
âokay?â he asks, searching your face for any signs of discomfort or worry. he doesnât find any, though â heâs met only with a perhaps too enthusiastic nod and your hands playing at the hem of his sweatshirt. he chuckles, bending down to kiss you again, a little deeper this time, a little longer. open-mouthed and hot, swiping his tongue over your bottom lip, dropping onto one elbow so his torso lies almost flush against yours.Â
âeasy, tiger. taking care of you, right now.â
you sigh as his lips start to descend down the column of your throat, and you press your shoulders back into the blankets to try and push that little bit closer to him. one of his hands slips beneath your own shirt and his palm comes to rest flush against your hip, dragging his thumb in small circles over your skin.Â
âthis,â he mumbles into your collarbone, tugging the neckline of the garment between his teeth for a moment so you know what heâs referring to. âoff.â
âbossy,â you mumble, your body cold all of a sudden as he sits back away from you and you tug your t-shirt off over your head. as you do, he reaches behind his neck and tugs off his sweatshirt as well before he tosses it up near your head, out of the way.
now, this is certainly not the first time youâve ever been around jeonghan without anything covering his top half, but it is something that you rarely get the chance to see. if itâs not the fact that heâs chronically freezing cold, itâs because heâs grown emotionally attached to some of the baggiest tops known to mankind, or heâs worried about getting a sunburn so is still covered up at the beach. for one reason or another, this just isnât something youâre blessed to see very often, and he looks so good you almost forget that itâs him.
of course, that only lasts until he says something really fucking dumb. in other words, all of about three seconds.
âhow⊠practical,â he says, eyes trained down on the bra covering your tits. in a way, itâs probably a good thing youâve snapped back to your senses, because you once again find yourself thinking that if this were anyone else, youâd have told them to get off you and never call you again.
but why is jeonghan, of all people, criticising your choice of comfy underwear⊠weirdly endearing?
âsorry,â you grunt, making no effort to hide the (flesh-toned, full-coverage, entirely too old) bra that heâs looking at like itâs personally offending him. âdidnât expect to need to impress, tonight.â
âdonât be sorry,â jeonghan says, shaking his head as he unpops the button on your jeans and tugs them down over your hips. âjust⊠do better next time, yeah?â
you laugh so suddenly, so abruptly, so loudly that you choke on your own spit and end up coughing a little, propping up on one elbow to try and relieve the burn in your lungs as he continues to work your pants off your legs. by the time he scrunches them into a ball and puts them to the side, too, youâve managed to catch your breath, and gasp out, ânext time?â
ânext time,â he nods, making himself comfortable between your thighs. he lays one palm on the inside of each knee, pushing them as far apart as your hips will allow, before he brings one hand over your covered cunt and drags his thumb up and down your slit.
you donât even get a chance to ask why heâs so sure thereâll be a next time. he skillfully works you through the material and in seconds, has you tipping your head back into the pillows, moaning at the overwhelming feeling of finally being touched.
âso fucking wet,â he sighs, feeling your arousal through the cotton of your underwear, pressing the material between your folds. his thumb circles your clit over and over, the pressure just right â not so light that heâs teasing, not so hard that youâre squirming away from him. hell, if you knew he was this good, youâd have dragged him into bed years ago.
âcome on, hannie,â you gulp as he starts to work his thumb faster, starts to massage at your inner thigh with his other hand. âneed moreâŠâ
well, he doesnât need to be told twice. you lift your hips and he tugs your panties down your thighs, unhooking them from around your ankles. you expect him to, you know, return to business, but he does something just a little bit unhinged first and brings your soaked underwear up to his face. you hear how deeply, how loudly he inhales, the subsequent groan he gives even louder, and you swear the reason you end up bumping his hip with your knee is to bring him back to earth, because it actually feels like heâs forgotten youâre lying right there.
âiâll do it myself, in a minute,â you threaten, and jeonghan grins wickedly down at you as he lowers your panties down to join the rest of your discarded clothes.Â
âno you wonât,â he tells you â he tells you? â , finally now lying down between your legs, just inches away from your glistening cunt. âgod â as if iâd ever let that happen.â
âi swearâ â you start, half a second before one of his fingers presses against your hole. you stop talking with a gasp, a hand flying to your chest and squeezing against your tit. just like that. in a heartbeat, youâre done for.Â
he seems intent on gathering as much of your arousal on his fingertip as he possibly can, running it through your folds, pressing it inside you, smearing your slick all over and then some like a fucked-up painting. only once heâs satisfied does he finally start to work his finger in and out, pressing his lips just above where your clit is begging for his attention.
âdonât play stupid,â you chide him when he looks up at you through his lashes, eyes wide and feigning innocence. âif you can find it through my underwear, you can find it now.â
âbossy,â jeonghan tuts. âwhatâs with the rush, huh?âÂ
and he adds another finger to the first, both long and elegant and reaching spots inside you that your own physically canât. you keen against your will, hips reacting of their own accord, trying to fuck your pussy down against his hand. he makes no effort to stop you.
âmânot gonna beg,â you tell him. âjust â fuck, get your mouth on me. now.â
to his credit, he does.
and more to his credit, being eaten out has never, ever felt this good.
the hand not grasping at your chest shoots down to tangle in his long, silky hair, and jeonghan moans loudly against your pussy as he laves his tongue everywhere he can. over your clit, between your folds, slipping it inside your hole in place of his fingers â heâs relentless, slurping and groaning and finding some sort of insane stamina from somewhere deep in his soul. you swear to god, this is not the man who sometimes falls asleep with his light on because he doesnât have the energy to get up and turn them off.
within a matter of minutes, you can feel the coil in the pit of your stomach growing tighter and tighter, your walls fluttering around his fingers, your moans and whines only getting louder by the minute. your legs are shaking. your thoughts are little more than static, and him. at some point â you donât know when â, jeonghan reached around your hips to pull your thighs together and clamped them around his ears, mumbling against your clit something to the effect of to help with the thunder. (you donât mention that there hasnât actually been another thunder crack since he started making out with your pussy. it doesnât feel relevant, somehow.)
every time you tighten your thighs, every time you squirm, he hugs you tighter against his cheeks and you just end up humping against his tongue. something tells you maybe that was the plan all along?Â
sparks of energy start to prickle all over your skin as you teeter on the edge of your high. your fist tightens in jeonghanâs hair, your breaths become fewer and further between. itâs frankly a bit of a miracle youâve even managed to last this long â you held back as long as you could, determined to milk as much of the pleasure his hands and his mouth so skillfully bring as you can. just in case thereâs no next time, but⊠hell, do you hope there is.
âhannie, iâmââ you gasp, his fingers curling upwards again and resuming their earlier assault on your g-spot. âfuck, hannie, iâm so closeââ
âmm, have been for a while, huh?â he asks, drawing his mouth away from you, licking his tongue over his arousal-slickened lips. âyouâve been holding out on me.â
âyeah, but-... i wanna come so bad,â you swallow. jeonghan flicks his tongue out over your clit again and you jolt up into the touch. âplease, donât stop.â
âwonât,â he promises. and itâs the last thing he says before his lips meet your pussy again and he brings you over the edge into the most electrifying of climaxes.
by the time youâve stopped twitching with the aftershocks of your orgasm, jeonghan is sat up on his knees again, softly massaging at your hips with his thumbs. your vision is still kind of fuzzy at the edges when you glance up at him, and for a moment, with a hazy outline and an amber glow behind him owed to the flashlight you set at the entrance to the fort, you think he looks a little too much like an angel.
âwhere the hell did that come from?â you ask him, fighting against the squirming in your belly. fighting against the sensation that feels a little too much like butterflies.Â
âreally?â he asks in a breathy laugh. âthatâs-... i mean, do you actually want to know, orâŠ?â
you mull this over for a moment before crossing your arms over your eyes and concealing yourself from his view, shaking your head. one part of you is morbidly curious as to how he got so good at giving head. the other part of you is too busy trying to gather the brain cells he just sent flying across about eight different dimensions.
âi think youâve broken me, jeonghan,â you breathe, feeling more than seeing him lie down next to you again. his lips press sweetly against the curve of your shoulder. warmth radiates from that one spot, all over your body. you smile, like a complete loser.Â
whatâs worse is that you really donât mind.
âis that a yes, then?â he asks, slinging an arm over your waist. you turn your head to look at him, eyes crossing a little with how unexpectedly close he is.Â
âyes to what?âÂ
âto next time,â he says. his grin matches yours and you nod your head at him, yes. in your peripheral vision, you notice how he lifts one hand, extends his little finger. straight in front of you, you see both of his eyebrows raise.
you pinch your lips tight before hooking your own pinky through his, leaning in and pressing a short kiss to the pad of your thumb. the way you used to when you were kids. âyou really canât break those.â he used to say. âtheyâre like, triple the strengthâ.Â
saved for really important promises.
âto next time.â

Who would have thought that a coffee shop would keep all the memories Jeonghan had worked so hard to forget. The smell of the coffee beans being brewed was the reminder that he has never really forgotten a single thing from 4 years ago. With a sip of your favorite iced caramel macchiato, he felt your hands caressing his cheeks. A bite of the glazed donut you always ordered has taken him back to the days you laughed so hard to his jokes that you were in tears.

summary: Joshua is drunk. You know this because he keeps smiling at you.
a/n: this is entirely inspired by ep.1 of nana tour where shua is drunk and is just smiling at everyone like á” á” á” the entire time // i love this boy with my whole heart // flashbacks are in italics!!!
Joshua Hong is drunk; you can tell.Â
As the fire starts to slowly die out but the raucous laughter still rings out around the beach, Joshua keeps catching your eye. And it's because he's drunk. It's not the way his nimble fingers have stopped playing intelligible chords on his trusty guitar ("her name is Susan," he had told you the first night you slept over, too drunk to make it home after a rager), nor is it the way his rap battle with Chan had stopped making sense 4 verses ago. No, you can tell Joshua is drunk because every time he looks at you, he smiles.Â
It's not his normal smile, warm and reassuring. No, this smile is reserved only for you, you realize. His eyes scrunch into upside down Us and his mouth scrunches up, and he looks like an emoji, and it's possibly the most endearing thing you've ever seen. And that smile, that adorable emoji smile, is how you know two things for sure: First, Joshua Hong is drunk. And second, you're hopelessly, irrevocably in love with your best friend.
The first time Josh smiles at you like that, he's dragging you home after one of Seungcheol's infamous parties (or you're dragging him - honestly, who knows?).
"Your house is too far," he pants, half from exertion, half from laughing too hard at heaven knows what. "You can sleep over at mine, I have extra sh-" his statement is interrupted by a burp, and the two of you dissolve into giggles all over again.
"Ew," you say, wiping tears from your eyes as you tamper down on a giggle threatening to escape you. "Joshua cooties. Jooties!"
He slips his arms through yours and drops a sloppy, drunken kiss into your hair. "Mmmm," he hums.. "Jooties. Yes." And then he smiles at you, and it feels like the world has dropped from under your feet.
Itâs not the typical grin youâve seen him flash countless timesâno, this one is different. His eyes crinkle so deeply at the corners, turning into soft crescents, and his mouth curves upward in a way that makes his whole face light up. Itâs the kind of smile thatâs so sincere and pure, it seems to melt right into you, warm and gentle. His cheeks lift, and thereâs a playfulness in his expression that feels intimate, like youâre the only one who gets to see this side of him.
And for the first time in two years, your heart skips a beat. Joshua Hong has never smiled at you like this before, and itâs the first time you wonder if maybe you love him.
The dying fire pops and Soonyoung jostles against you on accident, shaking you from your reverie. Joshua had already been looking at you, and when you meet his eyes, he smiles again, and it makes your heart do somersaults in your chest.
Needing a break from Mingyu's never-ending ad-libs, you nod your head away from the group, and he stumbles his way over, the corners of his mouth still twitching upwards as you lead him to a quiet stretch of the beach.
"Where are we going?" he asks, tripping over the consonants a little.
âJust wanted some fresh air,â you reply, settling on the cool sand. Joshua flops down next to you, the remnants of laughter still bubbling in the air.
The stars twinkle above, a cosmic array that feels almost too magical to be real. Joshua gazes up, his eyes wide and shining. âDo you think⊠do you think the stars have feelings?â he muses, his tone dreamy and childlike.
This is the part of Shua you love the most, you realize - the boy who always has so much wonder and curiosity about the world. âLike⊠what do you mean?â
âI mean, theyâre up there all the time, shining away. Maybe they feel lonely?â He turns to you, his expression earnest despite his earlier drunken shenanigans. âWhat if they just want someone to look at them?â
The second time Joshua smiles at you like that is on a summer night, only a few weeks after Seungcheolâs party. Youâre both lying on the grass outside your apartment, too tired from the long day at the beach to make it inside.
His leg is casually brushing against yours as he points out constellations. His hand grazes yours, and you will yourself to be very, VERY still, your heart racing in your chest as you focus on the warmth radiating from him.
âLook!â he suddenly exclaims, pointing to a star twinkling especially bright in the dying summer light. âItâs the happiest star in the galaxy!â
You glance over at him, catching the way his profile is softly lit by the stars and the dim lights from your yard. He looks like a dream. You tear your gaze away, following his finger up into the sky. âHappiest star, huh?â you ask, trying to play along even though all you can think about is the heat from his skin. âWhyâs that?â
Joshua turns his head toward you, and when you look back at him, you see that smile again. His eyes crinkle in the most endearing way, like theyâre scrunched shut from happiness. His lips curve into a soft, easy smile that stretches across his faceâcompletely unguarded, completely natural. His whole expression radiates warmth and affection, like itâs the kind of smile that could only exist when heâs with you, in this moment.
Itâs so genuine, so full of quiet joy, that for a second, you feel like the whole world stops, and itâs just the two of you, lying under the stars.
âBecause it knows how special we are,â he whispers, his voice soft and sincere. And for a brief, dangerous moment, you almost lean in and kiss him.
But you quickly look back up at the sky, heart pounding, only to notice that the star seems to be getting closer and closer. âShua,â you say, laughing nervously, âthatâs a PLANE, you idiot.â
You both burst into laughter, your bodies shaking as the absurdity of it takes over. When you finally calm down, you glance back at him, and heâs still smiling that same sweet, irresistible smile, like youâre the best thing thatâs ever happened to him. It makes your chest ache, and thatâs when you know you love him.
"Y/N?"
"Hmm, Shua?" You keep your eyes fixed on the stars above, afraid that if you look at him again, that smileâthe one that makes your heart twist in all the best and worst waysâmight undo you completely. One more glance, and youâre not sure if youâll kiss him, cry, or both.
"Do you think the stars want someone to look at them?" His voice is soft, words slurred just enough to remind you how much he's had to drink. His hand reaches out, fingers lacing with yours. You wonder if he can feel your pulse quicken through the skin of your wrist, but you stay perfectly still, pretending itâs nothing more than another casual touch.
âMaybe,â you whisper, your voice barely loud enough to compete with the sound of the waves. You donât dare look at him. âOr maybe we just like talking to them because theyâre the only ones we can be honest with, you know?â
Joshua hums, a low, thoughtful sound. He tightens his grip on your hand, and for a second, the space between you feels smaller than it ever has before. "Maybe..." His voice trails off, the words slow, like heâs working through the haze of alcohol. "Maybe we should tell the stars a secret."
You swallow hard, your heart thudding in your chest. Thereâs something fragile about this moment, something youâre both teetering on the edge of, but neither of you is willing to leap. His hand stays in yours, warm and steady, grounding you even as the uncertainty lingers in the air between you.
You glance at him out of the corner of your eye, catching the faintest trace of that smileâthe one you canât quite get out of your head - and you tell the stars your secret.Â
Itâs quiet for a beat. Two. The waves crash against the shore, and you time your breaths to the sound of the tide.Â
âY/N?â
âHmm?â
âWhat did you tell the stars?â he murmurs, voice slower now, soft and pliant. It sounds like love, you think.Â
You feel a smile tugging at your lips, heart beating louder in your chest as you speak. âThatâs a secret.â
Joshua shifts beside you, sand crunching softly under his weight. He doesnât respond right away, and you can almost hear him smile. "Wanna bet itâs the same secret?"
The teasing edge in his voice catches you off guard. You turn your head, just enough to see the glint in his eyes, the lazy grin spreading across his face. âWhat are we betting?â you ask, almost breathless.
He leans in slightly, the smell of salt and campfire clinging to him, his voice dropping as he says, âA kiss.â
(For the record, you should have seen this coming. Sweet and doe-like as he can be, Joshua Hong is Yoon Jeonghanâs best friend)
The third time Shua smiles at you like he loves you, itâs a rainy July afternoon and youâre swaddled in blankets in his living room. Love, Actually is queued and forgotten on the TV as you and Josh throw popcorn into each otherâs mouths.Â
When you miss for the 12th time in a row, Josh looks over at the movie, and then back at you, eyes sparkling with something you canât quite place. âYou know, if we keep watching these cheesy rom-coms, I might just end up believing in love at first sight,â he teases, his voice light.
You snort, nudging him playfully. âIs that so? Careful, or you might fall in love with me.â
He leans back, a grin spreading across his face, and for a moment, you canât help but admire how carefree he looks. âWho says Iâm not already?âÂ
You launch a pillow at his head to hide how stunned you are. âShut up, Shua.â The room suddenly feels too hot - heâs too close to you, to the truth.Â
Jeonghan picks the perfect time to walk in the door, and the moment is broken. As he and Joshua engage in yet another fight about Jeonghanâs annoying habit of not taking his wet socks off, you steal a breath and try to calm your fluttering heart. When you finally find the courage to look at Joshua again, heâs already smiling at you - soft, sweet, and full of warmth. It terrifies you and exhilarates you, and the world around you fades away.Â
Your breath hitches. For a moment, the world feels like itâs tilting, like the stars have drawn closer, hanging low enough to brush against your skin. You swallow, heart pounding, and manage to keep your voice steady. âYouâre drunk.â
Joshua just shrugs, the corners of his lips quirking up like this is the funniest thing in the world. âThat is a fact,â he says, still looking at you with those half-lidded, adoring eyes. âWant another?â
You glance away, the stars blurring above you, your mind racing. âSure. Why not?â you murmur, trying to sound nonchalant, even though every nerve in your body feels like it's on fire.
He shifts closer, his arm brushing against yours. His next words fall softly between you, barely above a breath. âI love you. Thatâs the secret.â His eyes are warm, and for the first time tonight, the drunken haze seems to clear for just a moment. "Now pay up."
For a second, you canât move. The waves crash softly in the distance, the laughter from the group fading into a low murmur as you process what he just said. The words hang in the air between you, delicate and heavy all at once.
You find your voice, though it comes out more as a whisper. âHow did you know?â
He smiles again, softer this time, his thumb brushing your hand gently. âBecause you have this one smile⊠one that you only give me. Like Iâm the only person in the world that matters.â
The air feels too thin suddenly, and you blink, your heart racing. âYou have the same smile,â you manage to say, your voice breaking just a little, as if the truth has snuck up on you, too.
His grin widens, that familiar warmth spreading across his face like it always does when heâs pleased with himself. "Match made in heaven then," he murmurs. "Now pay up."
For a beat, you just stare at him, your mind blank, the weight of everything settling in slowly. Then, before you can think too much about it, you lean in. Your lips meet his, soft and tentative at first, testing the watersâbut the moment he kisses you back, the rest of the world fades away.
Joshuaâs hand moves to cradle your cheek, pulling you closer as the kiss deepens. He tastes faintly of alcohol, but underneath it, there's something familiar, something that feels like home. The heat from his body mingles with yours, and for a moment, nothing else matters but the way he feels against you.
When you finally pull away, breathless and flushed, the world seems to settle back into place. The stars above twinkle faintly, and youâre aware of the soft crash of waves in the distance again. But Joshuaâs still smilingâsmiling in that way thatâs reserved only for you.
âTold you it was the same secret,â he murmurs, forehead resting against yours.
You laugh, shaking your head. âShut up, Shua.â
He laughs softly, his voice a warm rumble in the quiet night. âCanât help it.â
The two of you fall silent again, the world shrinking down to just the two of you, the sound of the waves, and the stars twinkling above. You find yourself staring up at the sky, your hand still in his, as if nothing needs to be said. It feels like the universe is watching, waiting, holding its breath.
After a moment, you break the silence. âYou remember that night⊠when you told me about the happiest star in the galaxy?â
Joshua chuckles beside you. âHow could I forget?â He tilts his head back, eyes scanning the sky as if searching for that same star. âI told you it was smiling for us.â
You smile at the memory. âYeah, and then you said it knew how special we were.â
His thumb brushes over your hand, the gesture gentle, like a reminder of the words youâve both left unsaid for so long. âI guess I always knew,â he murmurs.
You glance at him, the soft glow of starlight casting his face in shadows, but thereâs a light in his eyes, something quiet and real. âKnew what?â
âThat we were special,â he says, his voice soft but certain. âYou and me.â
Your heart skips a beat, the weight of his words settling over you like a warm blanket. You turn back to the sky, feeling the same sense of wonder from that summer night so long ago. The stars are still shining, still twinkling like theyâve been waiting for this moment.
You let out a breath, your voice barely above a whisper. âThink the happiest star is still watching us?â
Joshua smiles, and though you canât see it fully, you can feel itâthe same smile heâs always reserved just for you. âI think itâs still smiling.â
Neither of you says anything after that. The night stretches on, quiet except for the faint sound of the waves lapping at the shore. You lie there side by side, the cool sand beneath you, his hand still loosely holding yours. The sky above feels endless, full of stars that have seen nights like this before.
Somewhere in the distance, the stars twinkle, and Joshua looks over at you and smiles.Â

summary: jeonghan has apparently started reading poetry.Â
warnings: mentions of sex, missing jeonghan hours
a/n: ahhh finally I decided to post my first ever fic // this is entirely self-indulgent bc i miss hannie // also! The poetry mentioned here is by Mahmoud Darwish, who wrote the Palestinian Declaration of Independence
Two months ago, if someone had asked you about your ideal Friday night, Jeonghan would have answered, âY/Nâs favorite thing to do on a Friday night is be with me!âÂ
In a way, thatâs still true - the TV in the living room is playing some old GoSe episode that you donât have the heart to stop yet. Jeonghan had all but stopped reading your messages the week prior, so you were left to fill the void the best you could. Jeonghanâs smile fills the screen as he chases Hoshi around an abandoned building, and even though heâs only been gone for 2 months for basic training, it feels like heâs been gone a lifetime.
âWow, Catch Stock? Thatâs old,â a voice teases from the front door.
Time all but stops for a second. âJEONGHAN?â
âIâm home!â he yells, and it feels like you can breathe again. You can hear him unlacing his boots in the foyer, and before you can untangle yourself from the sheets on the couch, heâs standing at the entrance to the living room.Â
âMiss me?â he leans against the doorway, arms out.Â
âYou werenât supposed to be back for another three days!â you exclaim, rushing toward him.
âGot out early, and just in time too, huh? Looks like my baby missed me enough to watch three-year-old content.â He grins, and your heart twists just so, like youâre going to die if you donât have him in your arms right now.Â
âShut up, you werenât picking up your phone,â you launch yourself at him, wrapping your arms around his neck and pulling him close, smothering his face with kisses.
âI missed you too, love,â he murmurs between your onslaught of affection. âYou know I canât answer when Iâm in training.â
âYeah, yeah,â you mutter, pulling back just enough to take him in. He looks as handsome as ever, dressed in a simple t-shirt and joggers that only accentuate his lean physique. You donât realize how much youâd missed thisâhis presence, his warmth, the little quirk of his lips as he watches you ogle him (Thatâs a lie, you think, as he presses kisses to your lips, humming softly. You know exactly how much youâve missed him).Â
You try to burrow yourself further into his arms, but the moment is interrupted by your stomach growling. He smiles into the kiss, and it makes your heart feel warm and fuzzy and like home (Home! Jeonghan is home! Your brain offers unhelpfully. Also, can we maybe have food?).Â
âCome on, I was about to make some very gourmet ramen,â you say, and he whines a little against your lips. âBut since you're home early, maybe I should step it up.â
âNooo,â he moans, his eyes crinkling in that way that makes your heart flip. âYou look so delicious right now. Can we maybe skip the ramen? Iâm hungry for something el-â
You shake your head in disbelief as you escape his tightening grip, letting out a bark of laughter as you run toward the kitchen, Jeonghan following closely behind. âYouâre impossible,â you tease, grabbing the noodle packets from the pantry. âFood, then sex until we canât walk, okay?â
He raises an eyebrow as he leans against the counter, taking in your appearance. You glance down at your choice of clothing: one of his shirts, tied up with an old scrunchie and a pair of Hello Kitty pants he forced you to buy with him (âcome on, baby, weâd be so cute at Christmas!â And really, how could you disagree with that logic). Jeonghanâs gaze is soft, his smile lazy and affectionate, and he looks like heâs trying to commit you to memory.Â
âYou look nice,â he breathes, and you press a kiss to his cheek before spinning away from his grabby hands.Â
âI look like I havenât left the house in days,â you state matter-of-factly, hunting for a pot. âAha! I would have liked to look perfect for your first night home.â
âYou are perfect,â he bites his lip, voice low but playful. âStunning, actually.â
Rolling your eyes, you turn on the stove to start boiling water for the noodles. âAgree to disagree, baby.â
He steps closer, his arms wrapping around you, chin resting gently on your shoulder. You bask in his affection for a little, nuzzling your cheek against his smile. The next time he speaks, itâs so soft you almost donât hear it.Â
âIf I ever see a flaw of yours, Iâd say my eyes are the flawed ones.â
You freeze for a moment, feeling the heat rush to your cheeks. Turning slightly to catch his gaze, you find his eyes sparkling with a mixture of teasing and affection. You roll your eyes playfully, smacking his shoulder with the tongs (Awful, evil man, your brain titters. How dare he make us feel this beautiful! Letâs forget about the ramen and kiss this awful, evil man until we canât see straight).Â
âAnd when did you get so cheesy?â you laugh, leaning your hip against the counter as you shoot him an exasperated smile.
Jeonghan's grin widens, but he doesnât answer right away. Instead, his hands gently find yours. Lifting them to his lips, he presses featherlight kisses into your palm until youâre sure youâve just melted into a puddle on the dingy linoleum floor.Â
(Something about the harsh kitchen lighting and the way he looks into your eyes as he kisses your hands makes you feel like youâre drowning. He presses an extra kiss to the back of your ring finger, like a promise, and your heart nearly bursts).Â
âSome book one of the guys gave me during training,â he mumbles into your fingers, his voice muffled but warm, like it was carrying some secret just for you. His lips brush your skin as he speaks, and his smileâlazy, familiar, and filled with affectionâmakes your heart swell in your chest.Â
You laugh softly, shaking your head as you try to suppress the blush creeping up your cheeks. âSo now you're quoting poetry?â
He shrugs, eyes glinting with amusement. âOnly the good ones. It made me think of you.â
âSap.â
âAnd you love it,â he shoots back, lowering your hands but keeping them in his, his thumbs brushing over your knuckles. âBesides, it worked, didnât it?â
(You do love it. And it did work. Youâre very close to having your way with him on this kitchen counter, ramen be damned. Awful, evil man!)
You scoff as you turn back to the stove, playfully yanking your hands from his, but the warmth from Jeonghanâs touch lingers. You could feel him still watching you, his presence comforting and familiar after what felt like forever, even though it had only been a few weeks. You add the noodles to the pot, stirring them absentmindedly, feeling his gaze like a soft weight on your shoulders.
Without warning, Jeonghan slips his arms around your waist again, pulling you gently into his chest. âYou know,â he murmurs, his chin resting on your shoulder again, âyou couldâve waited for me to make dinner. Iâm pretty good at boiling water too.â
You let out a light laugh, leaning back into his embrace. âI didnât know you were coming home tonight, Mr. Sneaky. Itâs ramen or nothing, take it or leave it.â
âIâll take it,â he sighs contentedly, squeezing you a little tighter. âBut only because you made it.â
As you stand there, wrapped in his warmth, a memory flashes into your mindâ the night before he left for training.Â
(He fucked you like a madman that night, your brain sings. He made it seem like he was going to be gone forever! Awful, evil man!)
After, he drew lazy patterns on your back, humming as the last night of summer slipped into dawn. Your head was on his chest, and you tried to memorize his heartbeat.Â
It was you who broke the silence first, pressing kisses over his heart as you whispered, âDo you have to go so soon?â
His eyes were soft as he pushed your hair behind your ears. âYou know I do, baby. Just for a few weeks though.â
You tried to smile, but it didn't quite reach your eyes. âI know, but still⊠Itâs going to feel different without you here.â
Jeonghan smiled softly, pulling you closer so you could rest your head back on his chest. âIâm not going anywhere,â he murmured, running his hands through your hair until you shivered.
(The world couldâve stopped spinning for all you cared, because when he looked at you with such sincerity and love that you believed him without a second thought)
You gave him a knowing look. âBut you are.â
âNot really. Iâll always come back home to you,â his voice is scratchy, like heâs about to cry, and he presses kisses to your forehead until you drift off to sleep.Â
(In the morning, he kissed you breathless before swinging the door shut behind him, and you swear the house had never felt more empty)
The memory stirs something deep inside you, and you blink back to the present, feeling Jeonghanâs familiar warmth still wrapped around you.
He seems to sense the shift in your mood because his grip around your waist tightens ever so slightly. âYou okay?â he asks softly, his breath warm against your ear. His arms tighten around your waist ever so slightly, sensing a shift in your mood. It makes you fall in love with him all over again (Awful, evil man!)
âYeah,â you reply, your voice a little quieter now. âJust⊠thinking about when you left.â
He leans his chin on your shoulder again, pressing a soft kiss to the back of your neck. âTold you Iâd come back,â he whispers, his lips brushing your skin.
When you feel goosebumps erupt in his wake, you turn in his arms to face him. âYou did,â you say softly, resting your hands on his chest. âBut I still missed you.â
Jeonghan chuckles, his fingers brushing a lock of hair from your face. âIâll always come back home to you. You know that, right?â
You nod, your heart swelling with warmth as you lean up to press a soft kiss to his lips. âI know,â you murmur against him, âbut Iâll still miss you every time.â
His smile widens, and he pulls you even closer, the love in his eyes clear as day. âThen Iâll just have to keep reminding you, every time I come back.â
You raise an eyebrow, a teasing smirk forming on your lips. âBy quoting cheesy poetry?â
He grins mischievously, leaning in to press soft kisses along your neck, making you squeal with laughter. âHome is where the heart is,â he recites dramatically, his breath tickling your skin. âAnd my heart? Well, itâs always been right here with you.â
(Try as you might, you are as fallible to Yoon Jeonghanâs charms as the rest of the world. It is a Herculean task to remain nonchalant. Awful, evil man! This was his plan all along!)
You can't help but laugh, shaking your head as you playfully push him away. âCheesy, baby. Try something else.â
But he only chuckles, leaning back in to catch your lips with his, whispering, âNo seriously, Iâm writing my own poetry now. Want to hear my next line?â
âOnly if itâs not about ramen,â you shoot back, grinning.
âToo late, itâs about how I miss you more than I miss ramen,â he replies, nuzzling against you, and your heart beats in time to his laugh.
(Two months ago, if someone had asked you about your ideal Friday night, Jeonghan would have answered, âY/Nâs favorite thing to do on a Friday night is be with me!â Heâs rightâbecause even on this Friday night, you curl up next to him on the couch, feeling his heartbeat sync with your own, knowing that with him home, everything is finally as it should be)

summary: in which jeonghan knows he's the bestest of friends, so why can't you tell him your secret? read as: jeonghan knows you're pregnant. you have to be, right?
Jeonghan prides himself on being a really good friend. The best, even, if you asked him. Heâs the kind of friend who remembers everyoneâs favorite coffee order, who diffuses arguments with that easy smile (just ask Seungkwan and Seokmin about the infamous Jeju incident), and who somehow manages to be exactly where you need him, exactly when you need him.
Heâs the one who introduced you to Seungcheol, and later, he turned down Seungcheolâs offer of being best man just so he could stand by your side during the wedding. He held back tears as he watched his two best friends exchange vows, hands trembling with how much he cared for both of you. Jeonghan even caught the bouquet afterwardâ everyone relentlessly teases him about itâand he keeps some of the petals in his wallet, pressed flat like theyâre part of his heart.
So, yeah. Jeonghan considers himself the ultimate best friendâwhich is why heâs feeling a little miffed that you didnât tell him. Youâre pregnant, and he had to overhear it like some nosy bystander. Granted, itâs not like youâre obligated to share every detail right away, but he canât help the small sting of hurt, the sense that heâs been left out of something monumental. And if thereâs one thing Jeonghanâs always wanted, itâs to be the cool uncleâ the one your kid would adore, the one they could go to for all kinds of secrets and stories.
Jeonghan knows he shouldnât have eavesdropped (he knows, truly), but he couldnât resist when he saw the two of you murmuring in a corner outside the bar, expressions far too serious for a simple night out. He presses himself against the door of his car, praying heâs hidden in the shadow, and watches as you drop your head against Seungcheolâs shoulder, your hand gripping his tightly.
âItâs okay, baby,â Seungcheolâs voice is soft, his hand gently circling your back. The quiet reassurance sounds so intimate, so tender, it tugs at something in Jeonghanâs chest.
âWhat are we gonna do?â you whisper, your words muffled as you press your nose into Seungcheolâs neck.
Jeonghan holds his breath as he watches Seungcheol pull back, his hands moving to your hips, fingers splayed protectively. His thumbs start tracing soothing circles at the bottom of your stomach, eyes locked onto yours with an intensity Jeonghan has rarely seen. âWeâll do whatever you want, my love,â Seungcheol says, voice steady. âItâs your choice.â
And thatâs when it hits Jeonghan, right there in the cold. His heart skips a beat. Pregnant. Youâre pregnant.
A thrill courses through him, excitement mingling with nerves. Youâre going to be parentsâsomething heâd always imagined would happen one day, but he never expected it to feel this real, this soon. Heâs already picturing himself as the âcool uncle,â the one your kid would adore, the one they could go to for all kinds of secrets and stories.
But why hadnât you told him? The sting of hurt starts to creep in, subtle yet unshakable. Heâs your best friendâshouldnât he have been one of the first to know? He sighs, leaning back against the car, the chilly metal pressing into his back, anchoring him. Maybe itâs early; maybe youâre waiting to process this as a couple. The thought soothes him slightly. And while heâd love nothing more than to rush over and demand answers, he knows heâll have to wait until youâre ready.
His phone buzzes, startling him. Joshua.
joshuji: u coming in or what
joshuji: we want alc hurry UP
Jeonghan glances up, heart still racing, as he spots you and Seungcheol walking toward the barâs entrance. He straightens his jacket, quickly pasting on his most nonchalant smile. Nothing happened, he tells himself. Just a regular night out.
Inside, the bar is alive with the hum of laughter and music, dim lights casting warm shadows across the wooden tables. Usually, Jeonghan would soak in the energy, but tonight heâs got a mission. He spots Joshua waving him over to the booth, where you, Seungcheol, and the rest of the group are already seated, laughter spilling out as Seungkwan finishes a story. Jeonghan can see the happiness on your face, the ease in the way you lean against Seungcheolâand it grounds him, if only a little.
Sliding into the booth, Jeonghan flashes a quick grin. âAlright, what did I miss?â
âJust in time!â you say brightly, reaching for the menu with a casualness that Jeonghan canât help but find a little too⊠normal. âWe havenât ordered yet, but Iâm thinking something fruity. Maybe a cocktail?â
His heart skips a beat. Cocktail? Oh, absolutely not. The protective instinct kicks in faster than his thoughts.
âActuallyâŠâ He reaches across the table, plucking the menu from your hands before he can even think twice. âMaybe tonightâs not a cocktail night for you?â
You blink, confused. âHuh? Since when are you my personal bartender?â
His laugh is quick, covering his nervousness. âOh, I just⊠well, youâve been looking kind of tired lately. Right, Seungcheol?â He tosses a hopeful glance in Seungcheolâs direction.
Seungcheol, clearly not expecting the cue, fumbles slightly before nodding. âUh, yeah, babe, now that he mentions it⊠maybe.â
Your gaze sharpens, suspicion creeping in as you study Jeonghanâs face. âTired? Iâm not tired. Iâm fine!â
Jeonghan quickly backpedals, his mind racing. âOf course you are! Itâs just, well, you know, the cocktails here are pretty strong. Maybe a soda or a nice glass of water, just to keep things⊠chill?â
Joshuaâs eyebrow arches in amusement. âSince when do you care about people drinking, Jeonghan?â
âJust looking out for my friends!â Jeonghan insists, pulling you close and throwing his arm around your shoulders in a playful half-hug. âOnly the best for you, buddy! Besides, wouldnât want you, uh⊠getting woozy on us.â
You narrow your eyes, a smirk playing at the corner of your lips. âI think I can handle one cocktail, Jeonghan.â
He glances around, desperate. âRight, right, but you know, Seungkwan was just saying how amazing the mocktails are here. No⊠risks. All the flavor. Right, Seungkwan?â
Seungkwanâs mouth opens, clearly taken by surprise, but he gives a quick nod. âYeah! Mocktails. Theyâre, uh⊠very safe. Delicious, too.â
You fold your arms, your amusement turning into a mix of suspicion and annoyance. âWhatâs going on with you tonight, Jeonghan?â
Jeonghan stammers, adjusting his posture but keeping his smile intact, though his face flushes under the dim lights. âNothing! Just⊠just looking out for you. Thatâs what friends are for, right?â
Your expression softens, the suspicion melting into exasperated affection. With a sigh, you shrug. âFine. Iâll try the mocktail, I guess.â
Relief washes over him, his shoulders relaxing as he shoots a quick grin at Seungcheol, who shakes his head, clearly amused but in on the act. For the rest of the evening, Jeonghan doesnât let his guard down for a second. Every time the waiter brings over a drink, he discreetly âtaste-testsâ yours with an exaggerated nod before passing it along.
âJust making sure itâs up to your high standards,â he says with a smirk each time you raise an eyebrow at him.
You laugh, shaking your head, your hand instinctively slipping into Seungcheolâs under the table, your thumb stroking his knuckles. âYouâre acting so weird tonight, Jeonghan.â
If only you knew.
Jeonghan wasnât trying to eavesdrop. He swears. Heâs just standing by the kitchen counter, the crinkling bag of chips in his hand an innocent alibi, while scanning the room for somethingâor someoneâinteresting. The dinner is in full swing, music humming softly in the background, conversations buzzing like white noise, and heâs basking in the satisfying quiet of being a wallflower in a room full of social butterflies.
He pops another chip into his mouth, savoring the salty crunch, when Mingyuâs voice cuts through the atmosphere like a spotlight snapping on.
âSeungcheol, man, weâre so proud of you!â Mingyu says, loud enough to turn heads.
Jeonghan tilts his own head slightly, his chip midair. He wasnât expecting that.
âYeah, seriously,â Seungkwan pipes up, clapping Seungcheol on the back hard enough to make him stumble. âItâs about time!â
Jeonghanâs hand hovers, chip forgotten as he shifts his attention. A small crowd is forming around Seungcheol now, congratulatory pats and cheers echoing through the room. Seungcheol, as always, wears the kind of bashful grin that makes it clear heâs soaking in the attention, even if he pretends he doesnât like it.
âIt really did take years,â Seungcheol admits, rubbing the back of his neck in that way he always does when heâs being humble.
And there you are, standing right beside him, smiling so warmly that Jeonghan swears the room tilts a little. âBut he didnât give up. Iâve seen him work so hard, day and night,â you say, the pride in your voice impossible to miss.
Jeonghanâs brow furrows as he slowly lowers the chip to the bag. Pride. Hard work. Years. Whatâs this about?
The murmurs of approval spread through the group like wildfire. Jeonghan catches Mingyu and Seungkwan clinking their beers in silent celebration.
âItâs not easy breaking into this industry,â Mingyu says sagely, though Jeonghan knows for a fact the most Mingyuâs ever âbroken intoâ is a tub of ice cream after a long day.
Jeonghan frowns. Industry? His mind races as he flicks his gaze between you and Seungcheol. What industry?
âMan,â Seungcheol begins, shaking his head with a small, nostalgic laugh, âthose years in the bedroom and basementsââ
Jeonghan chokes on his chip.
Heads whip around to look at him. He coughs, hand over his mouth, scrambling to recover.
âBedroom?â Jeonghan croaks, louder than he intended.
A few people snicker, but Seungcheol looks more confused than anything, one brow arching as he crosses his arms. âUh⊠yeah?â
Jeonghan blinks rapidly, his mind running laps. Years in the bedroom? With you? And basements? What does that even mean?
âThatâs where I started making music,â Seungcheol continues, his voice steady but tinged with the slightest bit of defensiveness.
âOh,â Jeonghan mutters, the word barely audible over the thudding of his pulse. âMusic.â He forces his face to remain neutral, though his brain is screaming. He takes another chip, if only to have something to do with his hands.
Seungcheol doesnât stop, his voice gaining momentum like a runaway train. âIt was rough, honestly. I spent hours in there, pouring everything into it, over and over againââ
Jeonghanâs hand freezes in the bag, his eyes going wide as unbidden images flicker through his mind. Images that have nothing to do with music. He fights the urge to slap himself.
âAnd you supported me through all of it,â Seungcheol says, his voice softening as he turns to you. His eyes practically glow with sincerity.
You smile at him, your expression so warm, so open, that Jeonghan feels a twinge of secondhand emotion. Thereâs something private in the way you look at Seungcheol, something that feels too big for a moment like this.
And yet, Jeonghan canât help but tighten his grip on the chip bag.
Mingyu breaks the moment with a hearty clap on Seungcheolâs shoulder. âItâs inspiring, really. You just kept going, even when it got hard.â
Jeonghanâs chip crumbles in his hand. Did no one else hear that?
âWell,â you say with a laugh thatâs just shy of teasing, âhe never does things halfway. When heâs passionate, heâs all in.â
Jeonghan presses his lips together tightly, his shoulders shaking as he stifles a laugh. He risks a glance around the room, but no one else seems fazed.
Seungcheol chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck again. âWhat can I say? Itâs worth it when itâs something you love.â
Jeonghan is two seconds away from either bursting into laughter or leaving this dinner altogether. He doesnât know which option will save his sanity faster.
âMan,â Seungkwan says, grinning broadly, âand now youâre a producer at that studio! You really made it, Cheol.â
Jeonghan freezes mid-breath. Producer?
âOh,â he blurts out before he can stop himself. âMusic.â
Seungcheolâs brow furrows as he turns toward Jeonghan. âYeah? What else would it be?â
âNothing,â Jeonghan replies quickly, brushing off the crumbs from his hands as nonchalantly as possible. âCongrats, man. Really proud of you.â
Seungcheol eyes him for a beat longer before Mingyu distracts him with another round of enthusiastic pats.
As the conversation flows back to lighter topics, Jeonghan sneaks another glance at you and Seungcheol. Youâre laughing at something heâs said, your hand swatting his arm playfully, and Seungcheol leans down to whisper something in your ear. The way you nudge him back, your smile soft, makes Jeonghanâs chest feel oddly heavy.
He shakes his head, letting out a quiet laugh to himself. Iâm definitely overthinking this.
But no matter how many chips he eats, the phrase âyears in the bedroom and basementsâ echoes in his mind, refusing to leave.
Sunday brunch has been a sacred tradition ever since you and Jeonghan were broke, hungover, and shamelessly nosy college kids. It used to be a chance to pick apart every terrible decision from the night beforeâwho ended up with who, which of your friends was blacklisted from your favorite bar this time, and whether that one prof actually knew how to teach or was just winging it. Now itâs all slightly more respectable, though the core vibe is the same: hungover, nosy, a little too loud for public, and still hung up on the drama of the week.
When Jeonghan strolls in, spotting you at your usual table with an iced Americano in hand, he stops short. For a second, he feels a wave of prideâheâs got his act together, and youâre clueless as everâbut itâs quickly followed by a flash of concern. So he switches gears, zeroes in on your coffee cup, and slides into the booth with what he hopes looks like an easy grin.
He prides himself on subtlety, Jeonghan does. Heâs sure he can manage this without causing alarm, without making you feel pressured or spied on. Just a small adjustment to the routine. Easy.
âHey, whatâs that youâre drinking?â he asks as he slides into the seat across from you, keeping his tone light but shooting you a grin thatâs maybe a little too tight. He plucks the coffee cup from your hand before you can react, inspecting it like heâs never seen iced coffee before.
âUh⊠an iced Americano?â You raise an eyebrow, more amused than anything, but he can already tell youâre getting suspicious. You take in his tight smile and his sudden interest in your drink. âWhy?â
He takes a quick sip and barely stifles a grimace. âIced Americano. Really? You drink this every Sunday?â
You shrug. âYeah, since forever. Whatâs your deal?â
âOh, nothing,â he says, shrugging it off as he slides the coffee back. âJust thought youâd want something herbal, maybe? Like⊠chamomile? Peppermint?â he offers, trying to sound casual. âSoothing stuff, you know? Maybe something decaf?â
âHerbal?â You narrow your eyes. âWhen did you get all wholesome on me? Since when do you care about herbal tea?â
You stare at him, an eyebrow quirking, skepticism starting to creep into your eyes. âHerbal? Are you okay? Since when do you care about, like, chamomile tea?â
He gives a quick shrug, faking his usual breeziness. âIâm just saying! Caffeineâs not all itâs cracked up to be, you know? All the jitters, the heartburnâŠâ He trails off, flashing a strained smile. Heâs proud of how smoothly heâs handling this, trying to steer you away from the iced coffee without raising any red flags.
You give him a look, deadpan. âHan, I have one coffee, once a week. And half of itâs in your stomach now, so donât lecture me.â
He barks out a laugh, forcing himself to look casual as hell as he raises his hands in mock surrender. âRight, right. My bad. But you should try water insteadâhydration is key, yâknow.â Without giving you a chance to argue, he pops out of the booth and heads to the counter for a bottle of water.
He keeps an eye on you from the counter, grinning to himself like heâs just scored a major win. This is step one, and he figures if he plays his cards right, you wonât even notice his sudden caffeine-sabotage campaign. He grabs a bottle, quickly sidling back over to the booth.
He plunks it down in front of you with a wide smile, as if heâs doing you the worldâs biggest favor. âStay hydrated. That shit is better than any iced Americano.â
You just stare at him, bewildered. âWhat the hell is going on with you today?â
âNothing!â Jeonghan insists, a bit too enthusiastically. But then, maybe he overplays his hand. The next thing he knows, heâs sliding the bottle over to you and muttering, âGotta stay hydrated, buddy.â
âBuddy?â You shoot him a look that could drill holes. Youâre not buying it, not even a little. Jeonghan practically flinches because, yeah, he never calls you âbuddy.â Normally, itâs just your nameâor a well-timed âhoâ when heâs feeling especially feisty. He can tell the second he says it that heâs tipped you off, just a bit.
And now, youâre watching him, that too-sharp glint in your eyes. âSince when am I your buddy?â you ask, voice laced with suspicion.
Jeonghan keeps his grin intact, waving it off like heâs got nothing to hide. âWhat? Arenât we buddies?â He goes for his water glass and takes a long, slow sip, playing up the nonchalance. âJust looking out for you. You need a buddy to make sure you stay hydrated, thatâs all.â
But heâs starting to see it in your eyesâthat look you get when you know heâs up to something. He can feel his casual act slipping, so he pulls back, deciding to ease up on the hints. âAnyway,â he says, tone lightening, âIâm just messing with you,â He leans back, stretching with a lazy grin that he hopes comes off as relaxed, not calculated. âSo, anyway. Tell me about what that idiot boss of yours pulled this week.â
Youâre still squinting at him, but he can see you filing his âbuddyâ slip-up away for later. Probably already figuring out ways to make him squirm next time he tries to pull something over on you. The thought almost makes him laugh.
Despite the coffee swiping, you settle back, leaning into the usual rhythm of your weekly debrief, losing yourself in the vent session as you pick at your food and Jeonghan eggs you on. He throws in his own commentaryââI swear, that guyâs one bad review from a lawsuitââwhile giving you sideways glances, watching to make sure youâre sipping the water. And every now and then, he slides your plate a little closer, pushing you to take another bite.
But in between the jokes, heâs already plotting his next move. Subtlety is the name of the game, after all. He just has to keep you guessing long enough to make sure youâre taking care of yourself⊠without letting on that heâs keeping watch over two of you now.
Seungkwan has chosen a sports park for the monthly hangout, a classic Seungkwan moveâsomething energetic, competitive, and likely to end in some hilarious disaster. Everyoneâs in high spirits as they gather under the bright sun, ready to kick off the day with some casual sports. It's the perfect opportunity for some fun, but as usual, Jeonghanâs on a different wavelength.
Jeonghan prides himself on being subtleâtoo subtle, probably. He doesnât want to overstep, doesnât want to make you feel pressured, but his instincts are... well, Jeonghan instincts. And right now, theyâre telling him somethingâs off.
Thereâs been too much of you skipping out on things, and while he would normally chalk it up to your âweird habitsâ or just you being you, today itâs starting to feel... different. Youâve been playing it off, pretending everythingâs normal, but he can feel the change. And he's not about to let this slip by.
First, there was the iced Americano incident. The way you looked at him when he tried to take it awayâit wasnât just you rolling your eyes. You were trying to hide something. Then last night, at dinner, you hardly touched your drink, instead opting for waterâwater, for godâs sake. And now... here you are, standing way too still in the middle of a busy sports park, looking like youâd rather be anywhere else. Jeonghan is practically scanning your every move.
Seungkwanâs already yapping about his plan for a âfriendlyâ soccer match, while the others are warming up on the sidelines. Youâre laughing with the girls, joking about whoâs going to be the first to get a goal past Seungkwanâs notoriously awful defense. Itâs all very chill, very normal, but Jeonghanâs eyes keep darting to you. Itâs subtleâheâll give you thatâbut thereâs a difference in the way youâre standing.Â
Yeah. This is definitely it. Youâre pregnant.
Jeonghan doesnât even need to say it out loud. He knows. He knows in his gut. You're keeping it from him. The way youâve been actingâit's obvious. Youâre pregnant, and youâre hiding it. But heâs not about to make a scene. No. Heâll be subtle about this. Heâll protect you without you knowing heâs doing it. Heâs not going to make you feel uncomfortable or pressured. Heâll just... look out for you.
He watches you take a sip from your water bottle, and the sight of you not reaching for something more exciting (like your usual iced Americano or even a bloody beer) sends alarm bells ringing in his head. No way. Youâve been on a healthy streak all day. Somethingâs wrong.
Slipping into the conversation as casually as he can manage, he leans on the edge of the table, giving you his most easygoing smile. "Hey, buddy," he says, eyes flicking to yours, a little too sharp.
Shit. There it is. âBuddyââagain. Heâs almost positive youâve caught him red-handed. His instincts are getting worse, and itâs almost like he can feel the sweat forming at the back of his neck.
You blink, confused, and he feels a little too caught off guard. Shit. Did he just say that out loud?
âWhat?â
âJust checking in,â Jeonghan continues smoothly, his tone dropping an octave. âYou sure youâre alright to just... watch today? You know, Iâve been thinking, soccer is a little intense, donât you think? It could be a lot on your body...â
You look at him, a little puzzled, probably trying to figure out what the hell heâs talking about. "Itâs just a game, Jeonghan."
âYeah,â he shrugs, trying to mask the panic thatâs bubbling up. He needs to keep this light, keep it casual. "But still, with your... situation.â He trails off, forcing himself to look like heâs just making a suggestion.
You frown now, clearly starting to get suspicious.
Without waiting for you to question him further, he quickly slides into a new tactic. âYou know, hydrationâs important,â he says, snatching the water bottle from your hands and taking it upon himself to force it into your grip. "I think you should drink more water. Itâs the best thing for you right now." He gives you an exaggerated smile, all teeth. âYouâll be just fine if you stay hydrated.â
Youâre about to protestâhe knows you areâbut before you can get the words out, he quickly walks off, telling himself itâs fine, just fine. Keep it cool, Jeonghan. Youâre fine.
But his mind is still working overtime, running through all the signs heâs seenâskipping drinks, staying still, not participating. And every single one of them is screaming the same thing.
Youâre pregnant.
He glances back over his shoulder to check on youâthankfully, youâre still sitting, still sipping the water like the good little soldier heâs turning you into.
Suddenly, Seungcheol appears out of nowhere, grinning like a fool, pulling you away from the picnic table. âCâmon, babe, time to stretch those legs. Donât tell me youâre already done being the cheerleader?â
Relief washes over Jeonghan, and he feels a knot in his chest loosen. There you go, Seungcheol, swooping in to save the dayâtaking you away from all the chaos heâs cooked up in his head. Youâre in good hands. For now, at least.
Jeonghan watches as Seungcheol sweeps you into the crowd, joining the others on the field. Heâs gratefulâso gratefulâthat you havenât caught on yet. Not yet.
The party is buzzing, the clinking of glasses and laughter filling the room as Seungcheolâs birthday kicks into high gear. Itâs the usual mix of their close-knit friend groupâSeungkwan, Mingyu, Vernon, Jihoon, and all the othersâeach in their own little bubble of conversation, but you? Youâre standing off to the side with that damn glass of champagne in your hand, eyes glancing around, and thereâs something about the way youâre holding it that has Jeonghanâs mind spinning.
Youâre standing there like you belong to no one, not even yourself, but something about the way you keep looking at your glass makes him uneasy. Maybe itâs the way your fingers are wrapped around it too carefully, almost like youâre avoiding drinking. Or maybe itâs the way you keep glancing at Seungcheol, whoâs busy chatting away with Mingyu and Vernon, like heâs not giving you enough attention. Itâs hard to tell, but Jeonghan canât shake the feeling somethingâs off.
Then it happens. The moment heâs been waiting for.
You raise the glass, like youâre about to toast. The sound of laughter and clinking glasses grows louder, and itâs like the whole room pauses. Jeonghanâs mind clicks into overdrive, his instincts kicking in, and before he even realizes what heâs doing, his hand is moving.
One smooth motion, and the champagne is in his hand, your glass no longer where it was just a second ago.
He doesnât look at you when he does it. He doesnât need to. He just takes it, like itâs nothing. Because, in his mind, itâs something. Heâs doing you a favor, right? Heâs looking out for you, protecting you from somethingâsomething you donât even realize you need protection from.
Your frown is immediate. Your eyes narrow, and you turn to face him, the glass now mysteriously missing from your grasp.
âJeonghan, what the hell?â Your voice is sharp, confused, but thereâs an undertone of concern. And for a split second, Jeonghan feels his stomach tighten. Heâs not sure if itâs nerves or guilt, but damn if it doesnât feel like something.
He keeps his cool, though. Itâs Jeonghan, after all. He doesnât panic, doesnât falter. He smiles, giving a shrug like this is no big deal. âIâm just trying to protect you,â he says, voice light, playful, even though thereâs a certain tension in his shoulders that he canât quite shake.
âProtect me?â You stare at him, eyes widening in disbelief. âFrom what?â
His heart beats a little faster now, because thisâthis is the moment. He knows heâs been right. Heâs sure heâs been right. Itâs been building up, the signs have been obvious, and if he doesnât stop you now, he could be too late.
âPregnant people canât have alcohol,â Jeonghan says, his tone turning a little more serious, but heâs still keeping it light. Too light. He barely catches the way your brow furrows as you process his words.
You blink at him, the confusion settling into something far more incredulous. âOkay, thank you for that little factoid,â you say, your voice laced with sarcasm. âWhoâs pregnant?â
Jeonghan can feel his pulse picking up, his gaze darting nervously from you to the champagne in his hand. Maybe heâs just being paranoid, but you look like you know. Youâve caught him. Youâve noticed the signs, and this is it. Heâs been caught red-handed.
âYou are?â Jeonghanâs voice comes out in a high-pitched squeak, the words tumbling out of him before he can stop them. He doesnât even recognize the tone of his own voiceâhe just knows that this is the moment heâs been dreading and, somehow, waiting for.
And then you start laughing. Laughing.
Itâs loud, itâs spontaneous, and it fills the entire room. Your shoulders shake with it, your face turning pink with the force of your amusement. And for the first time since he walked in, Jeonghan feels like a damn idiot. A total idiot.
âWHAT?â Jeonghan can barely get the word out before he realizes what heâs said, and now, youâre laughing even harder, clutching your stomach like itâs the funniest thing thatâs ever happened to you.
Seungcheolâs head whips around from where heâs talking to Mingyu and Vernon, his curiosity piqued by the sound of your laughter. Youâre still giggling, though, and Jeonghan watches in utter confusion as Seungcheolâs grin slowly spreads across his face.
âWhat are we laughing about?â Seungcheol asks, his voice thick with amusement, his arm sliding around your waist as he walks over to you.
Your laughter is still uncontrollable, and youâre leaning into Seungcheol as if this is the funniest thing thatâs ever happened. âJeonghan over here thinks Iâm pregnant,â you say between laughs, and Jeonghan feels a lump form in his throat.
It doesnât make sense. It doesnât make sense.
Seungcheol starts laughing too, looking from you to Jeonghan like heâs just stumbled across some inside joke. His arm around your waist tightens, and he pulls you onto his lap with that effortless strength of his. Youâre still giggling, though now, youâre half sitting on Seungcheolâs lap, your face buried in his neck, clearly enjoying the chaos youâve unleashed.
Jeonghan is standing there like heâs been hit by a truck. His brainâs scrambling to catch up. Wait, this isnât what he thought was happening, is it?
âYouâre not...?â Jeonghan stammers. His voice is a little too high, like heâs a kid who just learned that Santa isnât real. You're not pregnant?
You wipe the tears from your eyes, finally able to speak. âPregnant? No, Jeonghan, why would you think that?â
Jeonghanâs hand tightens around the champagne glass, his mind replaying every little thing heâd witnessed over the last week. The water at dinner, the soccer game, the way you were avoiding alcoholâ it all clicks into place, and he can feel the weight of his mistake crushing down on him. âBut at the barâthe whole âitâs your choice, you can do whatever you wantâ thing?â Jeonghanâs voice cracks slightly, but he keeps going. âAnd the drinking water at dinner last week instead of wine? And the not playing soccer?â
You just stare at him, eyes wide with disbelief, but this time, thereâs a trace of sympathy in them. âJeonghan,â you say, a little quieter now, âour lease is up. We were stressed about finding a new place to live. Thatâs why I didnât drink, and the whole soccer thing? I had a cold that day.â
Seungcheol, still holding you on his lap, leans in with a grin. âDude, she had to drive us home,â he adds, voice full of playful exasperation. âAnd she was sick that day. You seriously thought she was pregnant?â
Jeonghan blinks a couple of times, like the whole world has just shifted. The understanding starts to dawn on him, slow and painful. Oh. He almost wants to bury his face in his hands. âRight. Oh.â
âYeah, OH,â you say, still chuckling. âNow, give me back my drink so I can drink to my beautiful, spectacular husband, whose baby I am NOT carrying.â
Seungcheol laughs and presses a quick kiss to your temple, his arms tightening around you as he looks over at Jeonghan with a smirk. âDonât worry, Jeonghan. Sheâs not pregnant. But Iâll take the champagne now. You can go ahead and get her some water, though. She might still need it after all that laughing.â
Jeonghan lets out a long breath, his face a mix of embarrassment and relief, and finally hands your champagne back to you, though he looks like he wants to sink into the floor. âRight. Right. Youâre welcome. No baby. Got it.â
You raise your glass toward Seungcheol with a grin, finally able to focus on the toast youâve been trying to make all evening. âTo my incredible, perfect husbandâwho, I assure you, Iâm not pregnant with.â
Jeonghan, though, is standing off to the side, looking like he just got hit with a truck. He rubs his temples, muttering to himself. Heâs definitely not going to live this one down. Not today, not ever.

Jeonghan stumbled into your apartment just after midnight, the door creaking open with its familiar groan. The sound jolted you upright on the couch, where youâd dozed off hours ago, waiting. You knew it was him before you even turned aroundâthe shuffle of his uneven footsteps, the faint metallic scent of blood carried in the cold night air.
âJeonghan?â Your voice cracked, half dread, half relief.
He leaned against the doorframe, a crooked smirk on his bloodied face, but even that couldnât mask how pale he looked. His once-pristine suit was torn, dark crimson staining the fabric. His hair clung to his forehead, damp with sweat and streaked with more red.
âMiss me, sweetheart?â His words were light, but his voice was hoarse.
âJesus Christ,â you whispered, rushing to his side. You grabbed his arm and looped it over your shoulder, guiding his staggering form inside. He didnât resist, but his weight against you was heavy, his body trembling slightly.
âYouâre going to ruin my couch,â you muttered as you eased him down.
âNot the first time,â he rasped, trying to laugh, but it dissolved into a pained grunt.
You shot him a sharp glare, the concern in your eyes warring with anger. âStay here. Donât move.â
He saluted weakly, his bloodied fingers smearing against his temple. You hated how calm he looked, as if this was just another night in a long line of disasters.
Your hands shook as you rummaged through the first aid kit in the bathroom, muttering curses under your breath. Bandages, antiseptic, gauzeâit was all second nature now, like muscle memory. You had patched him up so many times before. Too many.
Returning to the living room, you knelt in front of him. He tilted his head lazily, watching you with a soft, unreadable gaze.
âYou donât have toââ
âShut up,â you snapped, dabbing at the deep gash above his eyebrow. âYouâre bleeding everywhere.â
He winced but didnât pull away. âCareful. Iâd hate to lose this face.â
âMaybe if you stopped throwing yourself into fights, you wouldnât have to worry about it.â
The words came out harsher than you intended, but you didnât apologize. The anger bubbling in your chest felt safer than the fear threatening to swallow you whole.
âThis is the twelfth time this year, Jeonghan.â
âIs it?â He quirked a brow, wincing as you pressed a clean cloth to the wound. âI stopped counting at six.â
Your hand froze, the cloth hovering just above his skin. âThis isnât a joke.â
âI know itâs not.â His voice softened, the smirk slipping from his face.
âThen why do you keep doing this?â You leaned back on your heels, throwing the bloodied cloth onto the coffee table. âWhy do you keep risking your life like this?â
He sighed, his gaze dropping to the floor. âYou know why.â
You did. That was the worst part. Jeonghan wasnât just some low-level enforcer or a man who stumbled into the wrong crowd. He was Seungcheolâs second in command, the calm and calculating right hand to the man who ruled the underground with an iron fist. Jeonghan had earned his place by being as ruthless as he was loyal, and Seungcheol trusted him to handle the dirtiest, bloodiest parts of the job.
But where did that leave you?
âI didnât ask for this,â you whispered, your voice trembling. âI didnât sign up to be the one waiting at home while you play the martyr for Seungcheol.â
âSweetheart, itâs notââ
âDonât,â you snapped. âDonât tell me itâs not like that. I know what you do for him. I know what it costs you.â
His silence was deafening.
âYou have to make a choice.â The words came out steadier than you expected, but they landed heavy between you.
âWhat?â
âI canât do this anymore.â You stood abruptly, the sudden motion making his head lift. âItâs me or him, Jeonghan. Your loyalty to Seungcheol or your loyalty to me. I wonât keep doing this. I wonât keep watching you destroy yourself.â
He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. Blood smeared across his fingertips as he ran a hand through his hair. âItâs not that simple.â
âIt is that simple.â You crossed your arms over your chest, desperate to hold yourself together. âYou just donât want to make the choice.â
His jaw clenched, the tension in his body palpable. You wondered, for a brief moment, if he would fight you on this. If heâd lash out or argue or do something, anything, to prove he cared enough to stay.
But instead, he exhaled slowly and leaned back against the couch. His lips curled into a faint, bitter smile.
âAlright, sweetheart. Calm down,â he murmured, reaching out to tug gently at your wrist. His touch was warm, grounding, even as it made your heart ache. âYouâve had a long night. Letâs talk about this in the morning.â
âJeonghanââ
âPlease,â he interrupted, his voice softer now. âCome to bed. Just for tonight.â
Against your better judgment, you let him guide you to the bedroom. He slid into bed beside you, his arm draping over your waist as if nothing had changed. The scent of blood and smoke lingered faintly on him, but you ignored it, too tired to fight anymore.
For the first time in hours, you let yourself close your eyes, lulled to sleep by the steady rhythm of his breathing.
When you woke, the bed was cold.
The space beside you was empty, the sheets neatly pulled back as if he had never been there at all.
Panic settled into your chest as you sat up, your eyes darting around the room. You called his name once, then again, but the apartment was silent.
Then you saw itâa note, folded neatly on the nightstand.
Your name was written on the front in his familiar handwriting, and as you picked it up, the faint scent of his cologne wafted toward you.
Your hands trembled as you unfolded the paper, your heart sinking before you even read the words.
Iâm sorry.
Two words. That was all he left you.
No explanations. No promises. Just an apology that felt like a dagger to your chest.
The tears came quickly, hot and unrelenting, as you clutched the note to your chest. Youâd given him a choice, and this was his answer.
He had chosen.
And it wasnât you.
