ALL MY LIFE I'VE BEEN GOOD, BUT NOW--
..So you just stood here and watched me dance around for about three minutes now.
Mm, just about. It was entertaining, among other things.
ALL MY LIFE I'VE BEEN GOOD, BUT NOW--
âŠâŠâŠWhen did you get here?
A bit ago. Standing here long enough to know the next line of that song.
ALL MY LIFE I'VE BEEN GOOD, BUT NOW--
O-O-O-O-OH, IâM SAYINâ WHA-A-AT THE HELL!
That's a little unfortunate, now, isn't it?
Thatâs true.
I have. Not really.
Can I ask why? Or is that asking for too much, considering I don't even know your name?
I'm Valentino by the way.
True. Nothing will beat the time you drug me through the empty hallways for no reason.
You were the only one who thought it was for no reason. I wanted to explore and you know this castle better than I do. I think I'm just rubbish at directions.
Has anyone seen my wand?
Yeah. Right. Iâm not blind.
I just knew I was going to be a Gryffindor. Itâs the house for me. I canât help it if others didnât know where they belonged.
I'm not that skeevy I promise.
It certainly suits you in all the best ways.
Do you like it here?
Its not bad at all. No school's perfect but, you know, you make do.Â
You've been here longer though, right? Do you like it here?
I canât believe Iâm having this conversation with you.
As if this is the weirdest I've ever been to you.
Has anyone seen my wand?
Eyes up.
Your point being? My dad is perfectly Gryffindor. So he was kinda Slytherin too. I got the lion genes, Alli got the snake genes. easy peasy, lemon squeezy
Eyes are closed.
Didn't mean it like there was something wrong with it or anything. It baffles me anyways that they sort people so early when they've barely had time for their personalities to develop.
Now that's just mean.
I can tell.Â
Thanks I-.....wait.
Oh. She really was stupid.
..Right. I knew that.
'S alright. Considering I'm a transfer student, can't say I blame for you thinking that I didn't want to stay. But I'm getting used to it here. Kind of.
Has anyone seen my wand?
I am not my father, duh. I very much have boobs. And Yeah, Alli is in Slytherin, but I got my dadâs lion genes!
Thereâs no way I could be more Gryffindor than him!Â
You definitely do.
Logically speaking, you are. The hat decided for you almost instantly but took a while for your dad. To it, it seems like you exhibit more pronounced Gryffindor traits than your father.
Oh my lord. Boys. Horny little bastards arenât you?
I can't speak for anyone else, but if that were the truth I wouldn't be drawing dicks.
Though her fingers reach for the rose with a smile, she finds herself frozen in mid-reach at the nice boyâs last words. âWhile Iâm here.â What did that mean? Did that mean he wasnât staying? Did he mean he was leaving the corridor or the school or the country or the hemisphereâ
Why, where are you going?
Oh, I meant while I'm at Hogwarts this year. While we're all at Hogwarts, really. Because we're not allowed to use magic when we're home for the summer, being underage and all, so anything I practice I have to do while the term's still in session.Â
Her eyes widen slightly at the appearance of the pretty bloom, gaze raising back up to meet the nice boyâs eyes with a smile brightening her expression. Lifting one end of the handkerchief knot to dab away any remnants of her tears, she could feel whatever upset her only moments ago begin to lift away from her, leaving only a smile on her face and a hand to reach out in an attempt to touch the soft petals.
I donât know. Iâve never been to a party to see party tricks.
[Valentino smiles when she does, holding out the rose for her to take if she wanted to. He was thrilled that he could get her smiling again, even if it would be only for a moment.]
Then its a good thing I know some. You know, if you ever decided you wanted to see more. Transfiguration is a hell of a subject, I have to practice as much as I can while I'm here.
She watched his movements carefully when he instructed her, every so often blinking the tears down to clear her vision for fear of missing a single move and, thus, not even being able to follow this nice boyâs command. Finally, when the handkerchiefs appear, she was struck with the sudden memory of a similar trick sheâd seen at the circus with her father, a long time agoâ But she could remember the colours. She remembered the blue, green, red and orange handkerchiefs tied in knots and yanked free, causing the cluster of children watching giggle in glee. It was a nice memory. And it made her smile.
And she smiled at the nice boy who still stood in front of her, waiting for her response, any response, as he held the multi-coloured pieces of cloth out to her. She smiled through the sniffles and tears, hesitantly reaching out to take them from his outstretched hands. Thank you.
Iâve seen that before. That trick. But it was a long time ago.
This time might be a little more real than you remember, hope you don't mind. [He runs his hand through his hair shyly.] It's guaranteed to get a smile out of my cousins. They can't really do magic like we can and since we're not supposed to use it out of school, they've only seen the Muggle ways I taught myself but....
[He gently unties the last white handkerchief from the end of the long string now in her hands, wiggling the free one gently in front of her face to emphasize that its empty before pushing back his sleeves to the elbow. With his palm facing up, he lays the fabric on it for a moment before sweeping it up quickly, producing a rose seemingly out of nowhere and twirling it between his fingers.] ....party tricks are a ot more fun with real magic, don't you think?
