homegirl photo journal (link in bio) // 2018 real talk: in the beginning of the year, I didn’t wanna be in Auckland. It felt like the tide had taken all of my friends to distant lands and I was stuck here, in a place where I felt like I didn’t belong. Many escape attempts ensued (or at least movement in some way), but God had other plans and told me the problem was in my heart, not my environment. I was challenged to be a tourist in my own city and see things differently, and when I did...I fell in love with my own home. This journey was more than architecture of course, but I unknowingly managed to document my change of heart through these photos. Check out my photo journal in my bio for more. I’m not a professional photographer by any means (and am in total need of a domain name lol) but I just wanted to capture how I saw the city this year. Yo so, just wanted to share that I’ve had all of the emotions all the way up in the last 2 weeks (but I’m showing y’all the laughter cuz this is a happy post 😂). I also wanna let you know: . . . I’m taking a little break, to sift through literally these two weeks and see where God is leading me. I’ve got things in the works though; keen to do a @boniver and take the time and space to just finish this dang album... . . . But I also don’t want to journey alone, and I’ve had the privilege to witness so many amazing creatives who are doing amazing things and are amazing people...the light has to be shed on them! So I’m working on something to hopefully do that a little bit. Watch this space! . . . All in all, just asking for your prayers, because y’all have no idea how much those have carried me through. So this was when my hair wasn’t blue yet and Geoff’s hair was shorter and we managed to fit his bike into my Nissan Note lol...also the time when we started talking about this joint release...and now both our singles are out! I felt like I had been running around in circles aimlessly, and it took me a year and a half of just wrestling with this to realise that music is a gift to be GIVEN! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m gonna be on the real with you and say that I’m still struggling, and more so now that the song is about to drop. But I have to remember that it’s all for the Audience of One, because He gave me this gift in the first place. So this is a song from God and me...to me...to you. In less than 2 weeks, I’ll be releasing my first single in 2 years! I gotta tell you, it’s terrifying. After taking time off of music, I started jamming again. I started playing around on Ableton (sometimes in the kitchen lol, which is where this pic was taken LAST YEAR) and the jams became a pep-talk song to myself, from God (and myself lol) to keep using my gifts and share them ie. to keep singing and keep creating!! Y’all...those feelings of doubt still exist (and have been plaguing me recently), so I guess it’s good timing to put this very song out there as my first offering!!
