Samson about mages in Act 3 

I think it’s common in the fandom for forget how Samson was really like towards Mages in Dragon Age 2, I’ve seen a lot of posts defining him as having a cool revolutionary standpoint on Mages, but replaying DA2 and looking closer at his dialogue, it does not seem so. I believe in making him a counter to Cullen’s character in DAI, players just assume that he’s more Pro Mage than Cullen is, and while there might be some credibility to this within his Act 1 dialogue, it does not carry over to the later portions in the game, and given the option to in the last straw questline, he eagerly accepts to return to the Templar order. While I do believe Samson is an interesting character, I do believe there is need to view his character critically.
