Refuge.
why are all the actual real human jobs like baker and florist and childcare worker barely paying livable wages but the fake jobs like ai specialist boot licker or marketing campaign dick sucker making six figures
rocky may be the size of an earth dog but he is 168 kilos and strong as hell whereas grace is a wet paper bag. one of these two is being carried by the other and it is not the one you think
grace go far.
i’m giving up personhood to become a full-time abstract concept

why do coffee makers growl at you. What's the point of all that
They’re called baristas and they’re working very hard, they deserve to let off steam however they’d like.

HAPPY N7 DAY!!!
Wow, I only found out about Mass Effect little more than two years ago, but avoided it like the plague since I didn’t want any spoilers. This summer I finally played the Shepard trilogy, and fell so completely in love with everything. To then find out that the fandom is very much alive and active has been such a joy! So here is my own contribution to my first N7 day, a sketch of our love Garrus in a slutty little top, as well as some silly doodles of how I imagine turians can retract their heads like a turtle, lol
be careful with what series you watch/read during emotional points in your life because they will forever contain a ghost of your past self within it now
One of the worst feelings in the world: when you are just desperate, like claw-your-own-skin-off desperate, to create, but the only thing that even vaguely appeals to you to work on is a nebulous half-feeling that might be dreamily related to some half-formed notion of a concept. I must! Make! No thing! Only make!
Everything is boring. All activity is meaningless. I understand why Sherlock Holmes did cocaine.
Extremely irksome as an autistic person to ask a clarifying question and be told you’re “splitting hairs” when you genuinely just don’t understand because there isn’t enough information. Like, buddy. This is me at my most basic level of “what do you mean by that.” You wanna see me split hairs? If you really saw how thin I could slice a hair you’d hurl
I will split a hair into smaller halves every hour my demands of mutual participation in communication are not met
It will get cold again eventually. The summer will not last forever. I’m not doomed to live in this unbearable heat for all eternity. <- said while gripping the countertop so hard that the tile is starting to crack
You should get an AO3 account
With the rise of AI and the well known epidemic of AI companies scraping Ao3 for training data most authors on Ao3 have locked down their fics to logged in users only. This is unfortunate for authors and readers. As an author I've noticed a steep drop in readership on fics restricted to logged in users and when recommending fics to my friends I've noticed that the folks without an account can't find the fics. The logged in users only toggle, not only keeps people without an account from reading a fic, but also from seeing its listing at all. More than 50% of fics I come across have this setting turned on. So, you should get an AO3 account. I know this seems daunting and unfair because it's an invite only system but, you can invite yourself through the homepage if you don't already have one, and in the past few years I've never heard of someone who requested an invitation through this method, not getting one. And for those of you who are hesitant because you don't write, that's okay. It's not weird at all to click on a commenter username and find that they have 0 works and 10,000 bookmarks. It might take a week for the invitation to actually show up, but I can almost guarantee you will get one, just keep an eye on your email. It's free to join and donations are optional. You'll have more to read if you have an account and maybe give your favorite author the chance to protect their work from AI without a loss of readership and feedback.
If you notice a bunch of fics suddenly disappeared, please try logging in and seeing if they're just archive-locked, instead of panicking and/or sending messages to the writer! I see writers fielding these questions constantly! Archive-locking fics helps protect writers, but readers will only be able to see the fic exists at all if logged in (and direct links redirect to a page prompting you to log in).
Additionally, for people posting links to archive-locked fics (their own or others): please consider putting a note when you post the link that the fic is archive-locked. There's two reasons for this: 1) people not super familiar with how AO3 works might just assume the link is broken, including people who have accounts but just aren't logged in, and 2) when opening a link in a mobile app (such as tumblr or discord), the link will open in the app's browser where the user won't be logged in, and this causes a bunch of annoying problems. It's nice to know I need to take three extra seconds to open the link in my browser instead of using the app default because otherwise I'll waste those three seconds being annoyed instead and probably not read the fic.
do you ever not write for so long that you’re almost afraid to? like what if I’m dumb now
You just gotta unclog the pipe. Are you dumb now? No. The water was sitting stagnant because you were busy doing other things (100% fine btw). If any 'dumb' got in the water then it will quickly leave once you let the water start flowing again. Go get all the stupid out into a doc that doesn't matter. Even several of them. It might take a good while, especially if you're returning to writing after years or after a period of intense burnout, or both (waves). But you're just rusty, and letting that stop you will only ensure you stay stuck! Go forth and write some nonsense!
this applies to art as well btw
