Used Seymour Duncan Trembucker "Fugly Bucker" Price: R1500 The Fugly Bucker, according to legend, is so named because of its very unusual appearance. It features a fat blade coil (also found on the Scott Ian El Diablo and the Hawkbucker) mated with a Parallel Axis coil. Personally I would call this design “wacky” as opposed to “fugly,” but naming a pickup is like being a Shakespeare character: you can’t fight fate. Fugly Bucker is here to stay, and it’s kicking ass all over town. This truly special pickup was designed for clarity, especially in the neck position. Output is obtained from the two Alnico 2 bar magnets it contains: one in the usual humbucker spot under the coils, and the other inside the blade coil. The extra helping of Alnico allows the coils to be wound a bit less than you might expect, which results in increased clarity and definition. Make no mistake though: this ‘bucker can hold its own with high output beasts, and will breathe fire into any amp it touches. Perhaps most impressively of all, it’s one of those rare humbuckers where the split tone (when split to the blade coil) is just as nice as the full power tone.
