Night on the Town | Pete & Val

“Hey,” Pete said with a grin in return. “I was born ready,” he laughed. He headed inside and made sure to hold the door open for her. He glanced around at the club. He was still fairly new to Miami and he had never been to this particular club before. It seemed lively and the music was good so far, so he felt like they were going to have a good time here.
“Should we start with drinks?” he asked her. Pete was a man who like to party and though he could keep himself under control, he did have a knack for drinking. He wasn’t the type that had to drink to have fun but if whoever he was liked to drink as well, that was always a bonus in his book. “If so, what would you like? It’s on me.”
Though Pete tended to be a lot of talk and sometimes a flirt, he really did want his company to have a good time. He wasn’t a total player like he tended to behave. Being the son of a single mother, he’d learned real fast that he better respect women, mainly because if she ever found out he hadn’t, his mother was really the only person who could scare him.
Once inside the club, Valerie was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. It was a wonder she had never been there before, and she started to wonder what else she had been missing in Miami. She turned toward Pete, quickly nodding her response. “Yeah, of course. Buying me alcohol is the fastest way to guarantee my lifelong friendship,” she half joked, smirking at him.
She accompanied him to that bar and ordered a vodka martini. After going through the dance of digging her wallet out of her purse, handing over her ID, returning the ID to the wallet and the wallet to the purse, she was finally served her drink. She gently tapped her glass against Pete’s in traditional cheers fashion before taking her first sip.
“So, Pete. How long have you been in Miami?” She asked him before scrunching up her nose. “That’s a pretty boring question. What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done? Do you have any weird quirks? What’s your guilty pleasure? Have you ever killed a man?” Valerie laughed before taking another sip of her drink. “I’m kidding. You don’t really have to answer any of that. We can just go dance, honestly.”

That’s terrible. I don’t blame you for having a hard time. I don’t know much about grief but I do know that it’s healthy to mourn whenever you need to. What I mean is don’t just numb it, okay? But other than that I can definitely do my best to distract you.

I’ve been running on about two and a half hours of sleep the last day and a half. I over poured my coffee at work, set an appointment in my phone for 11pm instead of 11am and ran a stop sign on my way home.
Poor Bad Luck Brian. Did you get a ticket for running a stop sign? Or did you flash your boobies for a free pass?

You should save yourself the trouble and submit confessions about yourself. That way you’ll never be disappointed.

Night on the Town | Pete & Val

Pete headed out to meet up with this new blonde girl he’d met; Valerie. It was true that he had a weakness for women but her being so easy to talk to just made it that much harder for him to not want to get to know her. He was always a little cautious about getting to close to women as he knew his past tended to scare people off but he was doing better.
He’d managed to spend time with a few people now and was getting comfortable. No one could judge him by what he had or hadn’t done since they didn’t know. When he’d taken Crystal out, they were able to spend a whole evening without her asking about the hard things so he knew he could do this. He knew the time would come for that but for now he was just trying to start with a clean slate.
He got to the club and stood outside and waited for the girl to show up. He had decided to dress up a little…for him, anyways. He had on a pair of nice jeans and a black button up shirt but his hair was still it’s shaggy and disheveled self.

Unlike most people, Valerie felt energized after a long day of work. She was anxious to get out of the apartment and let loose for the night. She traded her modest work dress for a skirt and a low cut top, and she let her hair fall down over her shoulders. She slipped a small purse over her shoulder and headed out of the apartment building to the crowded streets of Miami. Though she’d lived in Miami for a few years she wasn’t familiar with the particular club where she planned to meet Pete, so she found herself double checking the address on her phone and walking a bit slower than the rest of the crowd.
It wasn’t unusual for her to become friendly with strangers. She talked enough to hold conversations with random people all the time, and Pete seemed pleasant enough to befriend. She was immediately interested when he claimed that he liked to wing it, which was exactly her style. Val thrived on living spontaneously in the moment and trying new things, so she was pretty stoked for what the evening held in store. The combination of live music and good company seemed like the recipe for a great night.
Val stopped amidst the crowd of people and looked around before spotting the sign for the club, indicating she was in the right place. After scanning the area for a moment, she recognized Pete standing nearby. “Hey!” She greeted the man and approached him with a grin. “Are you ready for a good time?” Valerie asked eagerly. She then gestured toward the door and led the way inside.

Honestly, it was super weird when I got to that part but I stuck with it because of the chemistry between Simon and Izzy, but yes, the spoiler is true and it’s even implied very subtly so it was a huge sigh of relief. There really is. I mean between his failing marriage and how lavishly and wildly he lived his life, there’s so much to it and the book. Thank you. You are definitely one of the kindest people I’ve met here so far. That’s a relief, honestly, I would rather the same thing as well. Just listening to people and their passions is much more comforting than silence, really.
I definitely got the hint that they weren’t really related, but it was still pretty uncomfortable. I’ll take your word for it and pick it back up though! Fantasy and science fiction reel me in very quickly so it’s probably worth braving through it. Aw, that’s sweet of you to say. I don’t get many compliments like that, probably because I tend to say whatever is on my mind, but I’m certainly not mean so I’ll take it. I agree, especially since the passion some people have is a force all its own. People are fun to get to know and sometimes the rambling tells you more than the basic stuff. Speaking of, what are you passionate about?

You do not want to give me a free pass to your home, believe me. I have a habit of popping up uninvited all the time. You’ll be putting the moves on some guy and I’ll just prance in, plop down next to you guys and steal the remote. Being a muse sounds so romantic and I’m super into it, even though I’m not a romantic at all. I could have the most boring life and some cute guy would turn it into a moving biopic. He could turn a good blow job into a full musical. Really though, I need to explore your neck of the woods some more. It sounds like a lot of fun. Exactly! Fucking Hot Cross Buns. It’s stuck in my head now. This is a nightmare.

Don’t we all? I’m doing pretty well. Work has been busy, but it’s a good kind of busy. I’ve gotten a lot of overtime hours in lately, so the extra money is really nice.
