Lucky number 5
With only a few hours until store tills shut for christmas, the race for the years best selling fragrances comes to an end. Chanel, as always, are pulling out the big guns: Marilyn Monroe. An unheard radio interview from 1960 with Georges Belmont (then editor-in-chief of Marie Claire) in which Marilyn talks about only wearing Chanel No.5 to bed is accompanied by black and white shots by photographer Ed Feingersh. The ultra feminine approach is a welcome return to form for Chanel No.5 after last years lack lustre campaign fronted by Brad Pitt. While Chanel No. 5 still remains the worlds No. 1 fragrance, celebrity scents are outstripping fashion brands. British five piece One Direction's Our Moment is selling the most this year, almost five times more than fellow celeb scents such as Lady Gaga and Britney. The celebrity fragrance market is worth an estimated £18b a year. Image: The full wrap ad from last weeks telegraph weekend edition. #Chanel #OneDirection #valstrom.
