He only had one idea of what to do after his sudden return to life, and now locator spell later here he was, standing outside the home of his once partner. He didn’t think twice about letting himself in. He was still so caught up in his confusion at being resurrected that he didn’t think about how strange it would be. “Kol,” he called out for the original.

The original was on edge long before he heard a voice from the past that rattled him to his very core. The news of River's supposed actions were having a ripple effect on New Orleans, and there was going to be a bloodshed, it was just a question of when and where. He'd reached out to his children to ( unsurprisingly ) no avail, and now he was busy trying to reach his estranged wife, who also didn't pick up. He'd just set the phone down when he heard his name, and while that wasn't revolutionary, the voice behind it was, so he slowly turned to face the source, utterly bewildered by what he found waiting for him. "... Zach?"

“Yeah, no. I didn’t get you anything. But I didn’t get you anything last year either, so…”

"It's fine." Kol replied, shrugging it off like he did nearly everything else. "At least you remembered and cared to say you didn't get me anything. The only other one to acknowledge it was Ben."

“No one talks to me, no one comes to see me, it’s just me at home with the baby. Alex has only spoken with me to fight since I resurrected him.”

"Parenthood can be lonely." Kol weakly offered his daughter, though he doubted it provided her any measure of comfort. "As for your brother - I'd tell you that he'll come around, I hope he will, but I don't know if that's going to happen anytime soon."

“I’m alright, I guess. I mean, no one has really spoken to me since I had the baby, you’re actually the first one to come see him. Alex still isn’t speaking to me and David is just- He’s David.”

“ - Oh.”

“I mean.. If you want to, he actually just woke up from his nap if you want to come in.”

“Thank you.” the vampire said quietly, crossing the threshold into his daughter’s home. “...How have you been, Thea?”
