REDUX?
A while ago I quietly restarted the Vampire Familiar story, took down the webtoon and restarted this blog. I wasn't sure how to properly introduce this concept so, here it is:
Vampire Familiar is a bigger story than I could just write on the fly, even though it was supposed to be a much smaller comic. I never liked how the pages looked, I didn't like the pacing and I generally wanted to explore the world a little more before I actually made it into a finished comic.
As well I'd like to publish comics myself at some point, but initially I wasn't sure if I should finish this in full and self publish it (risky) or pitch it to a publisher, but I can't do either with 0 experience. So I decided VF will be a webcomic with an end-goal of being able to print it some day.
Above all of these other dilemmas, the biggest problem I've encountered working on this (and Any of my art for that matter) is my own mental and physical health. It's hard to get on top of. Hell, it hurts typing this all out. I want so badly to draw more and more but I'm drawing less and less.
Hopefully making this blog into a sort of disorganized pitch-bible will help me write and illustrate this comic. I intend to take extra time to brush up on my own skills as an artist and a writer. This is not the comic of my dreams, but I don't want to give it up.
What is VF?
Vampire Familiar is an adult horror/action centered around witches, monsters, and death. It follows Sybil Winter as she masters her mother's teachings of necromancy, and Phoenix Howe, the vampire she should've known wasn't just a bat. Bound together as witch and familiar, Sybil aids Phoenix and other "monsters" against the hunters, and they aid Sybil against her own aunt.
This blog will avoid heavy spoilers for the story!!! All posts relevant to the plot will be tagged with #VFDEVSpoilers. No artwork with heavy spoilers to the story will be posted to this blog. All posts will be tagged with #Vampire Familiar. Some illustrations will not be considered spoilers, so if you are interested in the series but don't want any spoilers whatsoever, you do not have to follow this blog!
