criticizing horikoshi’s handling of mirko is not a get out of jail free card to post awful vitriolic character hate and be harsher on her than other hero characters and magically not look racist, especially if you are doing so to prop up another character (like shigaraki, who I love dearly but am not going to shit on a brown woman for???).

how do you interpret a japanese man writing an american character ordering a nuclear strike near the japanese coast as “pro-america propaganda”
star follows a lot of pretty standard tropes japanese writers use to make fun of americans so all those takes felt bizarre to me the whole time but if you’re still saying this I don’t even know what to say to you lol
ch 266
I’m a villain stan and all but sooooooo many villain stans just post the most racist shit about mirko and act like it’s progressive because she’s fantasy oppressing the villains and it’s like. please reevaluate this guys
ick realized I reblogged from someone shitty and I should've noticed but I didn't read the url like an idiot. sorry
watching ppl explain how lady nagant was groomed by the commission to become a killer while simultaneously claiming shigaraki and the rest of the villains "had no valid reason to hate hero society & are just insane" is my villain origin story
I love how Hori really finally went and said that 'hey, no, preemptive killing is fucking bad' because some of y'all were really insistent on the opposite lol
why does everyone who hates endeavor for being a child abuser (correct) love overhaul (also a child abuser. AND a transphobe) idgi
he murdered a trans woman and repeatedly tore apart a small child and you all are mad at lady nagant for pointing a gun at him
TODOROKI SHOUTO ☆ S5EP8
I’ve always had Thoughts about this scene, which essentially depicts shouto having a ptsd flashback to being physically abused as a child while sparring with another student during class. I’d always found it a bit disturbing that this happens immediately after the narrative starts trying to redeem his father, retcon things to soften certain aspects of him and what he did, and portray it as a bad thing that shouto wants to be distanced from him–in this arc itself, it’s portrayed as endearing and funny that endeavor is trying force unwanted contact with him and he gets his way in the end. even knowing how shitty people can be about this sort of thing, there’s a part of me that asks, “how can you portray him living with this kind of trauma so viscerally while doing that?”
the way the anime handled the material feels even more brutal and blatant, very explicitly visually connecting taking blows from tetsutetsu to ones he took from his father when he was younger. it uses flashbacks that were not connected to this scene in the manga and even a little bit of original material to convey this. the end result is pretty horrific, and exists among the same uncomfortable handling of his present day relationship with his abuser.
as an aside, I’ve seen more and more people try to claim endeavor was never physically abusive in the first place. I’m not looking forward to seeing them try to explain this sequence away too.

Even in his True Form, All Might is really tall. Could be a bit scary to see out of the corner of your eye.
I like how everyone in the notes is getting ready to watch this throwdown
