Tommy, the skilful bartender was given a special task: to put up the Christmas decorations outside Scarlett’s nightclub, he was told to find it in himself to be as creative and as original as he could. Meanwhile, his boss, the blonde original was on the roof of the building, doing the same thing for the Winter Wonderland party. Truthfully, the vampire wasn’t big on Christmas– but whenever Scarlett took up something, she was looking to outdo herself. Surely, she was aware Tommy was approached which wasn’t anything unusual, but when the male voice reached her sensitive ears, she found herself chuckling–which was unusual, rare nowadays. One thing was for sure: Tommy couldn’t handle the man’s wit all by himself. “Sounds exactly like something Tommy would say, how on Earth did you know!” Scarlett called out, deciding to be civil for once and use the stairs; it’d take her less than a minute to get down there, just in time to witness San Francisco being mentioned and feel her repressed memories resurfacing.
The local bartender seemed as safe a bet as was possible when it came to searching for someone with very minimal information to go on; after all, people talked to their local bartenders about the stuff going on in their lives right? After having asked nearly every person he’d crossed paths with, Elijah felt foolish that he hadn’t thought of this idea to begin with; there was a good chance it would have saved him a lot of time if he had. After he posed his question, he waited for an answer from the burly man, but before he could speak, he heard the sound of a feminine voice fill the air instead, drawing his attention to the person it was coming from. Once she had attracted his attention, Elijah’s eyebrows shot up in surprise as he heard the familiar sound of her breathing , and the equally familiar scent of her filled his nostrils. It was strange how familiar it was, seeing as he had only ever crossed paths with this woman once before, but given the fact that he had thought of nothing else but that sound and scent over the past few months, he supposed that it made sense. After a moment of standing there frozen by the shock of the fact that his search had finally ended, he took a few steps towards her, although he remained silent for another moment before he sighed, partially in relief, and said finally. “I don’t suppose I need to repeat the question do I? Because even if you didn’t hear me ask it, you would still know what I was here to ask about.”

❛ you’re excused. ❜ they deadpanned, ANNOYANCE lingering over youthful features as they gazed upon the other in exploration. opening their mouth, ludvig was just about to say something somewhat sarcastic when the other snatched it right off their tongue. ❛ hm —— sorry to W A S T E your time with your silly explanation there, man. but no, don’t know anyone in this fucking town. ❜ it was true that ludvig barely knew anyone, in fact, they could count acquaintances on one hand only, not that they cared, at all. ❛ i don’t talk much to people. who you looking for ?? mistress ?? ❜
Elijah huffed an aggravated sigh, annoyed by the stoic indifference in the young man’s words, and equally annoyed by the lack of information that he had. He shook his head in distaste at the boy’s question. “No. I’m looking for someone that I owe an thank you to, at the very least” He said, before he sighed again, gritting his treeth as he tried to get a grip on himself and keep from getting unnecessarily angry. The rage was always there, just below the surface; when he had been a prisoner, forced to fight, that had been a good thing, because he had been able to call upon it whenever he needed it. But here, now, it was crippling, and he had to fight to keep it from coming out over something as stupid as this. Inhaling and exhaling a deep breath, Elijah took a seat across from the male, running a hand idly through his own hair as he sat there silently for a moment. “So, if you don’t know anyone, does that make you new to town too then?” He asked. “Or do you just prefer to be on your own?”
“Excuse me? Yes hello. I’m sorry to interrupt whatever it is that you’re doing, but I’m looking for someone, and I would really appreciate if you could point me in the right direction. And yes, in case you were about to make some joke that is neither clever nor original, blind people can still be looking for someone even if they can’t see, and when I say “point me in the right direction” I say it as a figure of speech” The vampire said with a nod of his head. “Now, do you happen to know of anyone in town who has taken a trip to San Francisco within the past few months?”
It had been six years on the dot that her father had passed. The cancer he had passed from was all too treatable but they just didn’t catch it in time for the doctors to treat him. Walking down the street the blind girl was lost in the memories of her father and how much she missed him.
There was something undeniably sinister about the atmosphere in this town; that much Elijah could tell as he walked down the street, although part of him wondered for a moment whether that was actually the case, or whether it was just the way he was feeling, because of the things he had heard about Devil’s Lake before arriving there. However, The Vampire quickly dismissed that notion, having learned long ago that when it came to his senses, he should always trust them; after all, he was already short one without questioning the ones that he still had. He could only wonder whether the town looked as sinister as it felt to him, although he had to assume that it wasn’t, because otherwise why would anyone ever want to live there?
It was rare that Elijah didn’t hear someone approaching him; in fact it was practically unheard of. Typically, he knew when people were approaching him for miles before he actually crossed their path, being able to hear their footsteps with his hyper-enhanced hearing. But in this case, he was so distracted by his own thoughts, that he didn’t hear the sound of feet hitting the pavement until a second before he collided with the incomer, when it was already too late to do anything about it. Instinctively he reached out, placing his hands on each of the girl’s shoulders to prevent her from potentially falling, while a small, sheepish chuckle escaped him. “I’m sorry. I guess I should be worrying more about what’s going on in my surroundings, rather than worrying about what’s going on in my head” He said as he released her from his grip, shaking his head at himself in disappointment. “After all, when you can’t see where you’re going, you can’t really afford to be distracted by anything. That was my mistake. Are you okay?”
