Catacombs of Paris
How many mass graves and extinct cultures are needed to convince Christian apologists that missionaries and missionizing are inherently xenophobic?
The answer is apparently always, "At least one more."
It just like... look. If your religion has an explicit instruction of belief that it needs to take every other religion out there in the world, wipe them out, and replace them with itself, that religion is xenophobic. And the people who engage in the fulfillment of that process are xenophobic. It might not be as explicitly nasty a xenophobia as ethnic genocide, but it's still an instruction to commit cultural genocide.
Most people would probably find it strange that your personal safe place was in an abandoned graveyard of all things, but you couldn’t quite find it in you to care. You had always been quite drawn to this place, finding a strange sense of calm and tranquillity here, that you couldn’t really find anywhere else.
There was one other who seemed to find the place soothing, though you never really saw them, the two of you always seeming to just miss each other. Though the graveyard itself looked to have been abandoned for over a century at the very least, the other visitor seemed to still have some kind of connection here, always leaving flowers in front of one small group of headstones in particular.
You knew the other person would come here at least every other day, as the flowers would always be replaced with new ones, the old taken away and the plants that had overgrown the rest of the graveyard, carefully trimmed away from the small group of headstones. It was because of this, that you easily noticed when they failed to arrive.
Seeing the flowers withering away had made something in you ache, and after a week of seeing no change, you found yourself unable to ignore it any longer. Trying not to overthink it, you had replaced the flowers yourself, though you left the old ones untouched, wondering if perhaps the other stranger would find it creepy or rude.
It was a strange thing to have done, but to your relief, the other stranger seemed far from upset about it when they had returned. The simple bouquet of flowers that they had left in your usual hiding spot, had both flustered and warmed you. You were glad to know that they were grateful but also flustered by the knowledge that they knew where you liked to hide away, as it meant that they had seen you at least a couple times, even if you hadn’t seen them.
Gradually things relaxed again, and over time you found yourself replacing the flowers in their stead every now and then, always finding a small bouquet of flowers in thanks, once they returned. The strange interactions warmed you somehow, even if you still hadn’t really communicated with the other over the years.
Part of you had never expected to meet them, even though you frequented the same place so often. But you had definitely never expected to meet them like this.
You paid no heed to the rain as you sat in your usual spot, body soaked and trembling as you stared off vacantly. Your reddened eyes couldn’t produce tears anymore, even though your throat still felt choked with them, chest aching painfully as you struggled to take normal breaths.
It had been a while since you’d gotten this bad, but it always hit you like a freight train when it did, leaving you feeling hollow, even as your emotions threatened to overwhelm you. You were so lost in the pain of it all, that you never noticed the other arrive.
It wasn’t until the rain suddenly stopped hitting you, that you realised anyone else was there at all.
Blinking in surprise, you silently turned your head, looking up at the stranger who stood beside you, holding the umbrella over both your heads. You knew there was only one person this stranger could be, given that there were only two people who visited this place, but still their appearance surprised you, not having been anything close to what you had expected.
Taking in the sight of you, they sighed, something sad in their tone as they spoke.
“Oh my dear… such a face should never be filled with such sorrow.”
this is probably a fandom story but i like to think it’s anonymous enough to be a vampire story!! i don’t know when this was posted but it’s awesome :)) short and sweet!
It was originally written on May 20, 2019, Darling. I’m glad you like it!
And yes, whilst I was imagining someone specific when I wrote it, I also left it as ambiguous as I did, for that exact purpose. I try to do so with most of my prompts, so as to allow my Darlings to create more freely, but vampires were indeed one of the suggestions I made in the original tags, for a possible direction people could take this one in.
that’s so cool 😭😭 i love your work
I can’t believe that Lestat de Lioncourt from Interview with the Vampire and Steve Randle from the Outsiders are played by the same actor
this knowledge is a curse to man itself

Favourite makeup looks I’ve done in the last year. 💕 I think the cyberpunk one and the weeping Mother Mary are top notch. 💖
