cookie monster - R.R
a/n: sorry guys..i did not end up proofreading this, but i’ve had it in my drafts for a while…hope you enjoy!!!
It was 4:45 AM when you woke up, blinking groggily into the darkness. The house was eerily quiet, the kind of silence that only comes in the dead of night. You shifted in bed, glancing at the clock on the nightstand. Roman would normally be up by now, preparing for his early start, but tonight it seemed like the quiet had settled deeper than usual.
You couldn't shake the craving. The idea had crept in just before you drifted off, and now, it was all you could think about…fresh, warm cookies. You tossed the covers aside and slipped out of bed, the cool air of the house instantly hitting your skin, as the massive t-shirt you had stolen from your husband would only suffice. You padded down the hallway, your feet covered in your pink cozy socks barely made a sound on the hardwood floor. The kitchen light flicked on with a softly as you entered, the gleam of the counters reflecting off the light.
A mix of excitement and guilt stirred in your chest. You knew you shouldn’t be making cookies at this hour, it wasn’t exactly the healthiest choice, and Roman would definitely question your late-night baking habit. But you were already at the counter, gathering ingredients. Flour, sugar, butter. You went through the motions, finding comfort in the familiar process. The rhythm of mixing flour into butter and sugar, cracking eggs, and watching it all come together in perfect, into creamy dough, soothed you in a way nothing else did.
The scent of vanilla filled the air as you preheated the oven, the dough now ready to be scooped and placed on the baking sheet. It was all so easy, so relaxing, yet the weight of knowing Roman would probably wake up soon pressed on your chest. He had always been an early riser, up by 6 AM without fail.
You were just about to put the first batch into the oven when you heard it, the soft creak of the stairs, followed by the shuffle of footsteps. Your heart jumped, and you spun around, almost knocking over the flour jar. There, standing in the doorway, was Roman. His hair was messy, his shirt rumpled, his eyes barely open.
“You okay?” he asked, his voice rough with sleep. His gaze flicked to the counter, where the half-baked cookies lay, and then back to you. You froze, suddenly feeling a lump in your throat. “I- yeah, I just couldn’t sleep. Felt like making cookies” you said weakly, your hands trembling slightly as you reached for the dough scoop again.
Roman’s eyes softened as he stepped closer. “It’s 3 AM. Why didn’t you wake me up?” You felt the guilt tighten in your chest. “I didn’t want to bother you” you muttered, avoiding his gaze.
He chuckled, the sound warm and comforting despite the late hour. “You know I’m always here, right? Even at 3 AM for cookies.” You gave a small laugh, the tension in your shoulders easing just a little. Roman walked over, pulling up a chair at the kitchen island. He took a seat, rubbing his eyes as he looked at the mess you’d made. The flour on the counter. The half-finished cookies. You had only just started.
“I’ll help” he said, as if it were the most normal thing in the world. You raised an eyebrow, feeling a strange mixture of relief and embarrassment. “You sure? You’ve got to wake up in a few hours.”
He shrugged, already pulling up his sleeves. “I’m fine. Besides, I’d rather be here with you than worrying about getting enough sleep. Let’s get these cookies baked.”
So, the two of you worked together in the soft glow of the kitchen light, laughing quietly as you rolled the dough into perfect little balls and placed them on the tray. Roman’s hands were surprisingly quick for someone who had just woken up, and you couldn’t help but smile at how effortlessly he fell into the rhythm with you. You loved the way your husband was always down for your stupid shenanigans.
As the cookies baked, the smell wafting through the house became even more irresistible for your hungry ass. The two of you settled on the couch, each holding a warm plate of freshly baked cookies, crumbs already dotting the corners of your mouths as you both dug into the treat.
You put on the notebook, and oldish movie which was one you both had seen a dozen times, but it didn’t matter. It was your favourite which meant so was it Roman’s. You began drifting into deep thought of the fact your poor husband was woken up to help you bake freaking cookies out of all things. “I’m sorry” you murmured, your voice barely above a whisper.
“For what?” Roman asked, his voice still gentle, even though you knew how little sleep he was getting. “For waking you up. I didn’t mean to keep you up late.” Roman smiled softly and kissed your forehead. “Don’t apologize. I’m glad I could be here with you. Just next time, maybe we can do this... before 4 AM?”
You chuckled, your heart swelling with warmth. “Deal.” In the quiet of the night, with nothing but cookies and a cheesy movie, you realized that Roman was all you could ask for in life.

Chapter four: well that happened
Jey's POV:
As I stood there, watching Rhea laugh and smile as we cleaned up the kitchen, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The last few days had felt so right, so natural. But I knew that I couldn't stay here in Orlando with Rhea forever.
I had to go back to Pensacola soon, and when I did, Rhea would be left here all alone. She wouldn't have anyone to hang out with, anyone to talk to. And that thought scared me.I knew that Rhea was a strong, independent person, but I also knew that she valued her friendships and relationships. And I didn't want her to have to go through three weeks without anyone to share her thoughts and feelings with.
As I thought about this, an idea suddenly popped into my head. I turned to Rhea, my heart racing with excitement.
"Hey, Rhea?" I said, my voice casual.
"Yeah?" she replied, looking up at me from the sink.
"I was thinking... why don't you come with me to Pensacola for the next three weeks?"
Rhea's eyes widened in surprise, and for a moment, she just stared at me. Then, a slow smile spread across her face.
"Really?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
I nodded, my heart pounding in my chest. "Yeah. Really."
Rhea's face lit up with excitement, and she threw her arms around me. "Yes! Oh my god, yes!"
I hugged her back, feeling a sense of relief and happiness wash over me. I knew that this was the right decision, that this was what I was meant to do.
And as we stood there, holding each other tight, I knew that our adventure was only just beginning. The day of our departure to Pensacola finally arrived, and I knew that we had to take care of one more thing before we left - shopping for crutches. Rhea had been using her temporary ones for a while now, but we both knew that she needed a better pair to help her navigate the city.
As we got ready to head out, Rhea emerged from her bedroom looking like a completely different person. She was wearing black graphic print pants, a tight-fitting short sleeve shirt, and her makeup was done to perfection. But it was her shoes that really caught my attention - she was wearing "Psychic Purple" Nike Dunk High shoes, which added a pop of color to her overall outfit.I couldn't help but stare at her, my eyes fixed on her legs and shoes. She looked incredible, and I felt a sudden surge of attraction towards her.
"Wow, Rhea," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "You look... amazing."
Rhea smiled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Thanks, Jey. I figured we might as well make a statement while we're out shopping for crutches."
I chuckled, feeling a warmth spreading through my chest. I loved Rhea's sense of humor, and I knew that this was going to be a fun day.
As we headed out of the house, I couldn't help but marvel at how different Rhea looked compared to just a few days ago. She was no longer the clumsy, accident-prone person I had first met; she was now a confident, fashion-forward woman who knew exactly what she wanted.
And I was grateful to be by her side, to help her navigate the ups and downs of life.
As we left the house and headed out to do some crutch shopping, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. Rhea was looking beautiful, and I was loving the attention she was giving me.We walked into the first store on our list, and Rhea immediately started browsing through the selection of crutches. I watched her, mesmerized by the way she moved, her confidence and poise drawing me in.
But as we were shopping, I noticed someone taking photos of us. At first, I thought it was just a random person taking a picture of the store, but then I saw them take a few more shots, zooming in on Rhea and me.
I felt a surge of protectiveness towards Rhea, and I instinctively moved closer to her. That's when I saw her whisper something in my ear.
"Kiss me on the cheek," she whispered, her eyes locked on mine.
I didn't need any further encouragement. I leaned in, my lips brushing against her cheek in a gentle kiss. Rhea smiled, her eyes sparkling with amusement, and I could feel the tension between us building.
The photographer took a few more shots, and I knew that this moment was going to be all over the tabloids soon. But I didn't care. I was too busy enjoying the feel of Rhea's skin against mine, the taste of her perfume on my lips.
As we left the store, Rhea turned to me, her eyes laughing. "Thanks for that," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I think we made a great impression."
I grinned, feeling a sense of pride and ownership. "Anytime, Rhea," I said, squeezing her hand. "I'm always here to protect you."
Rhea smiled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "I know, Jey. And I appreciate it."
As we walked away from the store, I knew that this was just the beginning of our adventure together. And I couldn't wait to see what the future held for us.
As we walked into the next store on our list, Rhea's eyes scanned the aisles, taking in the various types of crutches on display. And then, her eyes landed on something that made her stop dead in her tracks.
"Oh my god," she breathed, her voice barely above a whisper. "Look at that."
I followed her gaze, and my eyes landed on a crutch that was unlike anything I had ever seen before. It was purple, with glittering diamonds and rhinestones covering its entire length. It was flashy, it was funky, and it was utterly Rhea.
"Wow," I said, my voice full of amusement. "That's certainly... eye-catching."
Rhea's eyes were shining with excitement as she reached out to grab the crutch. "I need this," she said, her voice firm. "I need this crutch in my life."
I chuckled, shaking my head. "Only you, Rhea," I said. "Only you would find a purple, glittery crutch and immediately fall in love with it."
Rhea shot me a playful glance. "Hey, this crutch is amazing," she said. "And it's perfect for me. I'm a performer, Jey. I need to stand out, even when I'm on crutches."
I couldn't argue with that logic, so I just shrugged and smiled. "Well, if it makes you happy, then I'm all for it," I said.
Rhea grinned, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "I'm going to try it out," she said, taking the crutch and swinging it around to get a feel for it.
As she practiced walking around the store, I couldn't help but laugh at the sight of her. She looked ridiculous, but also kind of amazing, like a flamboyant bird strutting its stuff.
And as we left the store, crutch in hand, I knew that this was going to be an interesting few weeks in Pensacola.
As we left the store, Rhea suddenly stopped and looked at me with a mischievous glint in her eye. "Hey, Jey? I'm starving," she said, her voice playful.
"Well, what do you want to eat?" I asked, laughing.
Rhea's face lit up. "I want In-N-Out," she said, her voice firm.
I chuckled. "Okay, let's go get some In-N-Out."
We headed to the nearest In-N-Out Burger, joking and chatting as we went. But as we walked in, I noticed a few fans noticing us. At first, I thought they were just looking at Rhea's funky new crutch, but then I saw them whispering to each other and pointing in our direction.
I felt a surge of protectiveness towards Rhea, but before I could do anything, one of the fans approached us. "Hey, Jey!" she exclaimed. "Can I get a photo with you and Rhea?"
Rhea smiled brightly, always ready for a photo op. "Of course!" she said, putting her arm around me.
The fan snapped a selfie with us, and soon, a few more fans approached, asking for photos and autographs. I tried to keep a low profile, but Rhea was in her element, laughing and chatting with the fans like they were old friends.
As we finally made it to the counter to order, I leaned in and whispered to Rhea, "You're a natural-born star, you know that?"
Rhea grinned, her eyes sparkling. "Hey, someone has to represent the Psychic Purple squad," she said, winking at me.
I chuckled, shaking my head. "You're something else, Rhea."
We ordered our burgers and sat down to eat, the fans still snapping photos of us from afar. I knew this was just the beginning of our adventure in Pensacola, and I was excited to see what the next few weeks had in store for us.After we finished our lunch at In-N-Out, Rhea turned to me with a mischievous glint in her eye. "Hey, Jey, can we go into the Nike store?" she asked, her voice full of excitement.
I shrugged. "Sure, why not?"
We walked into the Nike store, and Rhea's eyes widened as she took in the rows of sneakers and athletic gear. She loved Nike, and I knew she could spend hours in here browsing through the racks.
But as we made our way deeper into the store, disaster struck. Rhea's crutch slipped on the tile floor, and she went backwards, her arms flailing wildly as she tried to regain her balance.
I reacted instinctively, dashing forward to catch her. But I was too slow, and Rhea landed on her butt with a thud, her crutch clattering to the floor.
The store fell silent, with all eyes on us. I rushed to Rhea's side, helping her up and brushing off her clothes. "Are you okay?" I asked, my voice full of concern.
Rhea looked up at me, her face flushed with embarrassment. "Yeah, I'm fine," she muttered, her voice barely above a whisper.
I helped her up, and we stood there for a moment, the silence between us palpable. I could tell Rhea was mortified, and I didn't know what to say to make her feel better.
But then, something unexpected happened. The people around us started to applaud, cheering and whistling as they realized we were just a couple trying to have a fun day out.
Rhea's face lit up, and she started to laugh, her embarrassment forgotten. "I guess that was pretty funny," she said, her voice full of mirth.
I grinned, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. "Yeah, I guess it was," I said, chuckling.
We left the Nike store a few minutes later, laughing and joking like we always did. And as we walked out into the bright sunlight, I realized that this was what our relationship was all about - laughing together, even in the face of adversity as we headed back to my house, Rhea's notifications were going off like crazy on her phone. At first, I thought it was just her friends or family members texting her, but then I saw the worried look on her face.
"What's wrong?" I asked, concern etched on my voice.
Rhea hesitated, her eyes scanning her phone's screen. "It's just... the photos of us at In-N-Out and the Nike store... they've gone viral," she said, her voice laced with panic.
I frowned, not understanding the big deal. "So what? We're just having a normal day out."
But Rhea's face told a different story. "Jey, the headlines are saying 'JHEA OUT AND ABOUT'... they're making a big deal out of this," she said, her voice rising.
I realized then that Rhea was worried about the attention, about the fact that our little outing had turned into a media frenzy. I reached out and took her hand, trying to reassure her.
"Hey, it's okay. We can handle this. We're in this together, remember?"Rhea nodded, her eyes still wide with worry. "I know, I'm just... I don't want this to affect our lives, Jey. I don't want people to think we're just some celebrity couple or something."
I squeezed her hand. "We're more than that, Rhea. We're us. And no matter what the headlines say, we know the truth."
As we pulled up to my house, Rhea's phone was still blowing up with notifications. But I knew that we would face this together, as a team. And that no matter what the world threw our way, our love would come out on top.
As we pulled up to my house, I hopped out of the car first and walked around to Rhea's side to help her out. She smiled up at me, her eyes sparkling with gratitude as I offered her my hand.
I pulled her out of the car, careful not to jar her injured ankle as she stood up. Rhea leaned against me, her hand on my shoulder as she steadied herself.
"Thanks, Jey," she said, her voice soft.
I smiled back at her, feeling a sense of warmth spread through my chest. "Anytime, Rhea."
As we stood there for a moment, I couldn't help but notice how beautiful she looked in the fading afternoon light. Her hair was messy from the wind, and her eyes were shining with a radiant glow.
I felt my heart skip a beat as I gazed at her, my mind wandering to all the things I wanted to do with her. I wanted to take her on long walks, to hold her hand and watch the sunset. I wanted to laugh with her, to cry with her, to build a life together.
Rhea's eyes met mine, and I knew she could see the emotion written all over my face. She smiled, her lips curving upwards in a gentle smile.
"Hey," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "You okay?"
I nodded, feeling a lump form in my throat. "Yeah, I'm good."
Rhea leaned in, her lips brushing against my cheek in a gentle kiss. I closed my eyes, feeling my heart soar with happiness.
As we pulled back, Rhea's eyes locked onto mine. "I'm glad we're doing this, Jey," she said, her voice full of conviction. "I'm glad we're taking this leap of faith together."
I nodded, feeling a sense of determination wash over me. "Me too, Rhea. Me too."
For the rest of the day, Jey and Rhea decided to just relax and have some fun. They started with a workout session, doing a mix of cardio and strength training to get their blood pumping.
Afterwards, they headed out to the backyard, where Rhea slipped into a stunning black two-piece bikini. Jey's eyes widened in appreciation as she emerged from the changing room, her curves looking amazing in the revealing swimsuit.
"Wow, Rhea," Jey said, his voice low and husky. "You look incredible."
Rhea blushed, smiling demurely. "Thanks, Jey. You don't look so bad yourself."
They spent the next few hours lounging by the pool, swimming and splashing around in the cool water. Jey even attempted a few dives off the side, making Rhea laugh with his goofy antics.
After they got tired of swimming, they headed inside to dry off and grab some snacks. Rhea pulled out a bag of popcorn and they settled in for a gaming session, playing Call of Duty and Minecraft on Jey's console.
As the evening drew to a close, they decided to watch some of the new movies that had recently come out. Rhea picked out a romantic comedy, and they snuggled up on the couch together, laughing and crying at the on-screen antics.
As the credits rolled, Rhea turned to Jey with a smile. "That was so much fun," she said, her eyes sparkling with happiness.
Jey nodded, pulling her close. "I'm glad you enjoyed it," he said, his voice soft and gentle. "I had a great time too."
Rhea leaned in, her lips brushing against Jey's in a soft, sweet kiss. Jey's heart skipped a beat as he deepened the kiss, feeling a sense of love and contentment wash over him.
This was it, he thought, his heart full of joy. This was what it meant to be truly happy.
Rhea continued to make out with Jey, her lips pressed against his as they sat on the couch. Jey couldn't help but respond, his body reacting to the passion and intensity of the kiss.
As they kissed, Jey suddenly switched positions, pulling Rhea onto his lap so that she was straddling him. Rhea didn't seem to mind, and she continued to kiss him fiercely, her hands tangled in his hair.
But as they kissed, Jey couldn't shake the feeling that this was all moving too fast. He knew that Rhea was still recovering from her injury, and he didn't want to push her too hard.
Plus, a part of him was still hesitant to get too close. He had been hurt before, and he didn't want to open himself up to the possibility of getting hurt again.
So, with a surge of willpower, Jey gently pushed Rhea back, breaking the kiss. Rhea looked up at him, her eyes glassy with desire, and Jey felt a pang of guilt for stopping things.
"Hey, I'm sorry," Jey said, his voice soft. "I just think we should take things slow, okay?"
Rhea looked at him, her expression unreadable. For a moment, Jey thought he saw a flash of disappointment in her eyes, but then it was gone, replaced by a neutral mask.
"Yeah, sure," Rhea said, her voice flat. "I understand."
Jey felt a pang of worry. Had he just ruined the mood? Had he just pushed Rhea away?
But then Rhea smiled, a small, gentle smile. "I'm just glad we're doing this, Jey," she said. "I'm glad we're taking things slow and getting to know each other."
Jey's heart swelled with relief. Maybe he hadn't ruined things after all.
"Yeah, me too," Jey said, smiling back at Rhea. "Me too."
Rhea's POV:
The next three weeks were eventful, to say the least. Rhea had a series of doctor's appointments to check on her progress, and Jey was always there to support her.
They would drive to the hospital together, Rhea's crutches wedged into the backseat of the car. Jey would help her out of the car and into the doctor's office, always making sure she was comfortable and safe.
The doctor's appointments were always a mix of good news and bad news. Rhea's ankle was healing slowly, but she still had a long way to go before she was fully recovered. The doctor would examine her ankle, probing and prodding to see how much mobility she had.
Rhea would wince in pain as the doctor manipulated her ankle, but she never complained. She was determined to get better, and Jey could see the determination in her eyes.
After the doctor's appointments, they would head to physical therapy. Rhea would work with her physical therapist, doing exercises to strengthen her ankle and improve her mobility.
Jey would sit in the waiting room, watching through the window as Rhea worked out. He could see the sweat dripping down her face, the concentration etched on her features. He was so proud of her, proud of her strength and determination.
As the weeks went by, Rhea started to make progress. She was able to put more weight on her ankle, and she was even able to walk without her crutches.
Jey was there every step of the way, cheering her on and supporting her. He could see the joy in her eyes as she took each small step forward, and he knew that she was going to be just fine.
As they drove home from physical therapy one day, Rhea turned to Jey with a smile on her face. "I did it, Jey," she said, her voice trembling with excitement. "I walked without my crutches."
Jey grinned, feeling a surge of pride and happiness. "I knew you could do it, Rhea," he said, his voice full of emotion. "You're so strong and brave."
Rhea's eyes locked onto his, and for a moment, Jey felt like he was drowning in their depths. He knew that he was falling in love with her, and he couldn't help but wonder what the future held for them.
After weeks of hard work and dedication, Rhea was finally able to return to wrestling. She was still required to wear a foot brace to protect her ankle from further injury, but she was determined to make a strong comeback.
As she prepared for her first match back, Jey was by her side, supporting her every step of the way. They were at the gorilla position, just outside the ring, and Jey could see the nervous energy radiating from Rhea's body.
"Hey, you got this," Jey said, his voice soft and encouraging. He leaned in and kissed her head, his lips brushing against her forehead. "I'll be watching the match, and I know you're going to do great."
Rhea smiled, her eyes locked onto his. "Thanks, Jey. I couldn't do this without you."
Just then, a familiar face appeared before Rhea, a smile spreading across his face. "Welcome back, love," Roman said, his voice dripping with charm.
Rhea's expression faltered for a moment, and Jey could see the tension in her body. This was the first time she had seen Roman since their breakup, and Jey knew that she was still hurt from their past.
But Rhea quickly composed herself, a fierce determination etched on her face. "Roman," she said, her voice cool. "I see you're still as charming as ever."
Roman chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Always, my love. But I have to say, I'm impressed. I didn't think you'd be back in the ring so soon."
Rhea's eyes narrowed, her jaw clenched. "I've worked hard to get back to where I was, Roman. And I'm not going to let anything hold me back."
Jey could see the fire in Rhea's eyes, and he knew that she was going to give it her all in this match. He nodded at her, his own eyes locked onto hers. "You got this, Rhea. Go out there and show them what you're made of."
Rhea nodded, her determination renewed. She turned to Roman, her eyes flashing with anger. "I'll show you what I'm made of, Roman. And it's not going to be pretty."
With that, Rhea stormed off towards the ring, ready to take on her opponent and prove to Roman and herself that she was back and better than ever.Rhea stood in the ring, microphone in hand, her eyes scanning the audience as she began to speak. "The last time I was in this ring, I was left laying in the middle of it, injured and broken. But I've worked hard to get back to where I am today, and I've got unfinished business to take care of."
Her gaze locked onto the camera, her voice growing more intense. "I've got unfinished business with Becky Lynch, but it looks like she's not here tonight. In fact, it looks like she's at home, being a mother."
Rhea's eyes rolled, her expression disgusted. "Which means, I'm next in line for the Women's Championship."
As she finished speaking, the music hit and out came Charlotte Flair, the current Women's Champion. Charlotte sauntered into the ring, a smirk on her face as she looked Rhea up and down.
"Aww, Rhea, you think you can just waltz in here and demand a title shot?" Charlotte asked, her voice dripping with condescension. "You've been out for a while, maybe you should go back home with your little boytoy Jey and leave the wrestling to the grown-ups."
Rhea's face grew red with anger, her hands clenched into fists. "Why don't you come into this ring and fight me, Charlotte?" she snarled. "Oh wait, that's right. Because you're a coward. You run when things get hard, just like your father did."
The audience gasped at Rhea's words, and Charlotte's face turned bright red with anger. "How dare you," she spat, her voice venomous. "I'll have you know, my father was a legend in this industry, and I'm just as good as he was."
Rhea sneered, her eyes flashing with anger. "Is that why you've been running from me for months, Charlotte? Because you're scared of losing to me?"
The two women stood nose to nose, their faces inches apart, as the tension between them grew thicker. It was clear that this was only the beginning of a fierce and intense feud. The tension between Rhea and Charlotte was palpable, and the audience was on the edge of their seats, waiting to see what would happen next.
"You know, Rhea," Charlotte said, her voice icy cold. "I've had enough of your trash talk. I've had enough of your constant complaining and whining."
Rhea's eyes narrowed, her face set in a fierce determination. "What are you going to do about it, Charlotte?" she taunted. "Are you going to hide behind your father's legacy forever?"
Charlotte's face twisted in anger, and for a moment, it looked like she was going to lunge at Rhea. But then, she seemed to calm down, a calculating look coming over her face.
"You know what, Rhea?" she said, her voice dripping with malice. "I think I'll take you up on your challenge. I'll face you in the ring, and I'll show you what a real champion looks like."
Rhea's eyes lit up with excitement, her fists clenched in anticipation. "Oh, I'm shaking in my boots, Charlotte," she sneered. "But bring it on. I'm ready for you."
The audience erupted in cheers, knowing that this was going to be a match for the ages. The bell rang, and the referee called for the two women to meet in the center of the ring.
As they faced off, it was clear that this was more than just a match. This was a war, a battle for supremacy and respect.
And only one woman could emerge victorious. The bell rang, and the match between Rhea and Charlotte began. From the start, it was clear that Charlotte had the upper hand. Rhea's ankle was still recovering from her injury, and Charlotte was quick to take advantage of it.
Charlotte targeted Rhea's ankle with precision, using her quickness and agility to evade Rhea's attacks and strike at her weakness. Rhea gritted her teeth and pushed through the pain, but it was clear that she was struggling.
Despite her best efforts, Rhea found herself on the receiving end of a brutal beating. Charlotte was relentless, using every trick in the book to try and regain the Women's Championship.
But Rhea refused to give up. She dug deep, finding a reservoir of strength and determination that she didn't know she had. Slowly but surely, she began to mount a comeback.
The audience was on the edge of their seats as Rhea and Charlotte battled back and forth. In the end, it was Rhea who emerged victorious, pinning Charlotte to the mat and winning the match.
As Rhea stood up, her arms raised in triumph, the audience erupted in cheers. Charlotte, on the other hand, was left lying in the ring, her face twisted in anger and frustration.
Rhea grabbed a microphone and stood over Charlotte, a fierce glint in her eye. "Next time you want to come after my title," she sneered, "I'll put you in early retirement."
The audience cheered even louder as Rhea dropped the microphone and walked out of the ring, her music playing as she made her way back to the locker room.
As she disappeared from view, the camera picked up on her parting words: "Mami's backkk."
The crowd went wild, knowing that Rhea was back and better than ever. Charlotte, on the other hand, was left to seethe in anger and frustration, her plans for revenge already simmering in the back of her mind.
Rhea walked backstage, her music still echoing in her ears. She was greeted with a sea of congratulatory nods and pats on the back from the other wrestlers and staff.
She made her way to Jey, who was waiting for her with a big smile on his face. Rhea threw her arms around him, hugging him tightly.
"I did it, Jey," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. "I won."
Jey hugged her back, his arms wrapped tightly around her. "I knew you could do it, Rhea," he whispered back. "You're amazing."
As they hugged, their faces drew closer and closer, their eyes locked onto each other's. For a moment, it looked like they were going to kiss, but then they suddenly pulled back, remembering where they were.
Just in time, too, because Jackie was already walking towards them, a look of excitement on her face.
"Rhea, congratulations on your win!" Jackie exclaimed. "So, since you're all heeled up now, what's your next move?"
Rhea's face fell, her expression serious. "I'm going to take on all comers, Jackie," she said, her voice firm. "I'm going to show the world what I'm capable of, and I'm not going to stop until I'm the champion of this company."
Jackie's eyes widened, her pencil poised over her notebook. "That's quite a statement, Rhea," she said. "Do you really think you can back it up?"
Rhea's eyes flashed with determination. "I know I can, Jackie. And I'm going to start by taking on the best of the best. I'm going to take on Charlotte Flair, and I'm going to show her who's boss."
The camera zoomed in on Rhea's face, her eyes blazing with intensity. It was clear that she was not going to back down from this fight, and that she was going to do whatever it took to come out on top.
Jackie turned to Jey, a curious expression on her face. "So, Jey, over the past few months, you and Rhea seem to be getting closer and closer. Care to comment on that?"
Jey's face went slightly red, and he shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "Uh, well, Jackie, I think it's pretty obvious that Rhea and I have developed a strong bond over the past few months," he said, trying to sound casual.
Rhea, who had been listening intently to the conversation, suddenly spoke up. "Hey, Jackie, can I say something?"
Jackie nodded, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Of course, Rhea. Go ahead."
Rhea took a deep breath, her eyes locked onto Jey's. "Jey and I, we've been through a lot together," she said, her voice soft. "We've been through struggles, and we've been through triumphs. And through it all, we've developed a deep and abiding respect for each other."
Jey's face went even redder, and he looked away, trying to hide his emotions. Rhea reached out and took his hand, her eyes still locked onto his.
"And I think it's safe to say that our relationship has evolved into something more," Rhea said, her voice barely above a whisper.
The camera zoomed in on Jey's face, his eyes wide with surprise and emotion. It was clear that he had feelings for Rhea, and that he was struggling to keep them hidden.
Rhea squeezed his hand, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Don't worry, Jey. I think it's time we acknowledged our feelings for each other."
The camera cut to a shot of Jackie, who was grinning from ear to ear. "Well, well, well. Looks like we've got a new couple in the wrestling world," she said, her voice dripping with excitement.
As the camera cut to commercial, Rhea and Jey were left sitting alone, their hands still clasped together, their eyes locked onto each other's.
It was clear that their relationship was about to take a dramatic turn, and that the whole world was about to find out about their secret feelings for each other.
As Jackie left the room, Jey waited until the door closed behind her before turning back to Rhea. He gently reached out and held Rhea's face in his hands, his eyes locked onto hers.
Rhea's cheeks flushed pink as Jey leaned in, his lips inches from hers. She could feel her heart racing in her chest, and she knew that this was it. This was the moment she had been waiting for.
Jey's lips brushed against hers, soft and gentle. Rhea felt a rush of emotions as she kissed him back, her heart overflowing with joy and happiness.
As they broke apart for a moment, Jey smiled and said, "You look cute when you blush."
Rhea's face grew even redder as she laughed, feeling a sense of giddiness wash over her. She had never felt this way before, and she knew that she was falling deeply in love with Jey.
"I think I'm going to like this," Rhea said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Jey's smile grew wider as he leaned in again, his lips capturing hers in a deeper, more passionate kiss. Rhea felt like she was melting into his arms, her heart beating faster with every passing moment.
As they kissed, the world around them faded away, leaving only the two of them, lost in their own little bubble of happiness and love.
Jey's POV:
As Rhea and Jey continued to make out, the door to the locker room suddenly burst open. Rhea, startled, pulled back from Jey, her heart racing with excitement and a hint of embarrassment.
But as she looked up to see who had entered, her eyes widened in surprise. It was Jimmy, Jey's twin brother.
Jimmy's eyes scanned the room, taking in the sight of Rhea and Jey standing so close together. A look of surprise crossed his face, followed by a sly grin.
"Well, well, well," Jimmy said, his voice dripping with amusement. "Looks like I interrupted something."
Rhea's face flushed bright red as she took a step back from Jey, trying to create some distance between them. Jey, on the other hand, looked completely unfazed, a smirk still plastered on his face.
"Hey, Jimmy," Jey said, his voice casual. "What's up, bro?"
Jimmy's grin grew wider as he sauntered into the room, his eyes fixed on Rhea. "Just thought I'd drop by and say hi," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "But I think I'll leave you two lovebirds alone for now."
Rhea's face grew even redder as Jimmy's words hung in the air. She couldn't believe that Jey's twin brother had just walked in on them making out.
But as Jimmy turned to leave, Jey called out to him. "Hey, Jimmy, wait."
Jimmy turned back, his eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Yeah, bro?"
Jey's smile grew wider as he reached out and took Rhea's hand. "I think it's time we made things official," he said, his voice firm. "Rhea and I are together now."
Rhea's heart skipped a beat as Jey's words hung in the air. She couldn't believe that he was announcing their relationship to his twin brother like this.
But as she looked up at Jey, she saw the determination in his eyes, and she knew that she was all in.
"I'm all in," Rhea said, her voice firm.
Jimmy's grin grew even wider as he nodded in approval. "Well, congratulations are in order, then," he said, his voice dripping with amusement. "I'll let you two lovebirds celebrate on your own."
With that, Jimmy turned and sauntered out of the room, leaving Rhea and Jey alone once again.
As the door closed behind him, Rhea turned to Jey, her heart still racing with excitement. "Well, that was definitely unexpected," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Jey's smile grew wider as he pulled her close. "I'm glad I could make it official,".
As Jimmy left the room, Jey smiled mischievously and turned to Rhea. "You know, I think we need to celebrate this new development in our relationship," he said, his eyes sparkling with playfulness.
Rhea raised an eyebrow, unsure of what Jey had in mind. But before she could ask, Jey reached out and tickled her sides, making her giggle uncontrollably.
"Hey, stop!" Rhea laughed, trying to squirm away from Jey's tickling fingers.
But Jey just smiled and scooped her up in a fireman's carry, carrying her out of the locker room and down the hallway to his own locker room.
Once they reached his locker room, Jey gently put Rhea down, still chuckling. "I'm glad you enjoyed that," he said, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
Rhea smiled, her cheeks still flushed from the tickling. "I guess I did," she admitted, her voice still a little breathless from the laughter.
Jey's smile grew wider as he leaned in and kissed the top of her head. "You know, I was thinking... there's this great restaurant in the next city we have to travel to. Would you like to go on a date with me?"
Rhea's heart skipped a beat at the question. She hadn't been on a date in ages, and the thought of going on one with Jey was incredibly exciting.
"I'd love to," she agreed, her voice barely above a whisper.
Jey grinned, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Great! Let's pack our bags and head out to the rental car."
Together, they packed up their bags and headed out of the arena, driving back to their hotel in comfortable silence. As they drove, Rhea couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. She had no idea what the date would entail, but she knew that it would be an adventure.
When they arrived back at the hotel, they grabbed their bags and checked out, ready to start their journey to the next city. As they drove away from the hotel, Rhea couldn't help but feel a sense of freedom and excitement. She had no idea what lay ahead, but she knew that she was ready for whatever adventures came their way. As they drove to the next city, the rain started to come down in sheets. Jey and Rhea were making small talk, enjoying each other's company, when suddenly a car swerved in front of them. Jey tried to avoid crashing, but it was too late.
The rental car drove over the small bridge they were crossing, and before they knew it, they were sinking into the water. The car started to fill up with water, and Rhea was the first to wake up.
She looked over at Jey, who was still unconscious, bleeding from his head. Rhea's heart was racing as she tried to wake him up. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Jey groaned and opened his eyes.
He looked at Rhea, taking in their situation. "We're gonna be alright," he said, his voice calm and reassuring. "I'm gonna knock that window out, and we're gonna swim to the surface. It's gonna be easy peasy, okay?"
Rhea nodded, but then realized she was stuck. "Jey, I'm stuck," she said, panic rising in her voice. "I can't move."
Jey's face fell as he realized the situation. He went underwater, trying to get the seatbelt unstuck, but he couldn't get it to move. He came back up, his face grim.
"I'm not going without you," he said, his eyes locked onto Rhea's.
Rhea looked at him, her eyes filling with tears. "You have to go," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'll always be by your side, Jey."
Jey's face contorted in pain as he held Rhea's hand. "Wherever you are, I am too," he said, his voice choked with emotion. "That's the deal, right? That's the deal to the end."
Rhea nodded, her tears falling freely now. "You have to go," she said again, her voice stronger now. "I can't move!"
As the water continued to rise, Jey held Rhea's hand tight. "I'm not going without you," he said again, his eyes locked onto hers.
Rhea's eyes filled with love and admiration for Jey as the water rose higher and higher. Finally, Jey grabbed Rhea's hand and started praying as they were engulfed by the water.
The last thing Rhea saw was Jey's face, his eyes closed in prayer, as they both went under.
--
I slowly opened my eyes, blinking a few times to clear the haze. As I looked around, I saw my brother Jimmy sitting in a chair next to me, his eyes fixed on me with a mixture of concern and relief.
"Where am I?" I croaked, my throat dry and scratchy.
Jimmy's face relaxed into a gentle smile. "You're at West Park Memorial, bro."
I looked around the hospital room, taking in the beeping machines and the sterile smell of disinfectant. My mind was foggy, and I couldn't quite remember what had happened.
Then, like a punch to the gut, it hit me. "Where's Rhea? Where's my girl?"
Jimmy's expression turned somber, and he took a deep breath before speaking. "Jey, there was an accident. You were driving, and you lost control of the car. It went into the river."
My heart stopped. I felt like I'd been punched in the chest. "How long?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. "How long was she underwater?"
Jimmy's eyes dropped, and he hesitated before speaking. "Six minutes, Jey. She was pinned underwater for six minutes before the water rescue team got to you."
I felt like I'd been kicked in the stomach. Six minutes was a long time. I knew that brain damage could occur after just four minutes underwater.
"But...but it was cold water, right?" I stammered, trying to cling to any shred of hope. "That helps, right?"
Jimmy nodded, his eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and determination. "Yeah, it does, Jey. People have been underwater longer than that and come out okay. But...we just have to wait and see."
I looked out the window, trying not to think the worst. I couldn't shake the feeling of guilt and responsibility. I should have been able to save her. I should have been stronger.
I sighed loudly, feeling the weight of my failure. "I couldn't get her out, man. I wasn't strong enough. I couldn't lift her. I got spooked, and I swerved the car into the river."
Jimmy's face grew stern, and he reached out to grab my shoulder. "Jey, do you really think either one of you would have come out of this better after a head-on collision?"
I took a deep breath, trying to calm down. "Is she clear? Is she coming out of it?"
Jimmy's expression faltered, and I knew that he was holding back bad news. I felt a surge of panic and despair.
Jimmy got closer to me, his eyes locked onto mine. "Listen, listen to me. We have to be positive about this, okay? She's alive, Jey. She's a fighter. Don't you dare underestimate our girl."
I nodded, feeling a lump form in my throat. I was scared, but I had to be strong for Rhea. I had to believe that she would come out of this okay.
"I never have," I choked out, my voice cracking with emotion.
Jey's eyes scanned the room, his heart racing with anticipation. He had to see Rhea. He had to know that she was okay.
Jimmy helped Jey walk to the room where Rhea was being kept. Jey looked into the door window and saw Rhea's parents sitting at her bedside. They looked up as Jey walked in, and Rhea's mom stood up and walked over to him.
"Oh, Jey, I'm so glad you two are okay," she said, tears welling up in her eyes as she hugged Jey tightly.
Jey hugged her back, feeling a lump form in his throat. "Yeah, me too," he said, his voice choked with emotion.
Rhea's mom sat back down, and Jey walked to the other side of the bed, staring at Rhea lying there with tubes and wires attached to her. She looked so fragile, so vulnerable.
Rhea's mom spoke up, her voice soft and gentle. "She looks like an angel when she sleeps."
Jey nodded, his eyes filling with tears. "Yes, she does," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Rhea's mom continued, her voice filled with nostalgia. "Since she was a baby, I knew she was special. The second she came into this world, you could just feel the spirit radiating off of her. Always so sweet."
Jey closed his eyes, nodding as he listened to Rhea's mom's words. He remembered the way Rhea always put others before herself, the way she always had a kind word and a gentle touch.
Rhea's mom spoke up again, her voice filled with pride. "Never thinking about herself, always others. And that's why she's so loved."
Jey opened his eyes, looking at Rhea's mom with tears streaming down his face. "Yeah, that's my girl," he said, his voice shaking with emotion.
Rhea's mom reached out and took Jey's hand, squeezing it tightly. "She's going to be okay, Jey. She's going to come out of this just fine."
Jey nodded, feeling a sense of hope and determination. He was going to be there for Rhea, every step of the way. He was going to support her, love her, and help her through this tough time.
As he looked at Rhea lying there, he knew that he loved her more than anything. And he was going to do everything in his power to help her recover, to help her come back to him.
"I'll be here for her," Jey said, his voice firm and resolute. "I'll be here for her, no matter what."
Jey walked the halls, trying to clear his head and process everything that had happened. But as he walked, he couldn't shake the feeling that there was something he needed to do.
And then he remembered - the person who had been in the other car, the one who had caused the accident, was probably in the same hospital.
Jey approached one of the nurses at the nurse's station. "Excuse me," he said. "I was in an accident earlier today, and I was wondering if there was another person who came in around the same time?"
The nurse nodded. "Yes, there was. He's in room 107."
Jey thanked her and made his way to the room. As he walked in, the guy looked up at him, surprised.
"Uh, hey man, I think you're in the wrong room," he said.
Jey ignored him and walked over to the bed. "We both have you to thank for being in this hospital today, don't we?" he said, his eyes cold and hard.
The guy looked uneasy, and Jey could tell he was in pain. "You shouldn't be in here," the guy said, trying to sit up.
Jey reached out and grabbed the guy's hand, squeezing it tightly. "If you touch that phone, you cry out, I'll snap your wrist," he growled.
The guy's eyes went wide with fear, and he nodded hastily. "Okay, okay, okay."
Jey leaned in closer, his face inches from the guy's. "What's your name?" he asked.
"M-Mark Wilson," the guy stammered.
Jey's grip on the guy's hand tightened. "Mark? I heard you were in a rush to get to wherever it was you were going so fast. Where were you going, Mark?"
The guy hesitated, and Jey could tell he was trying to come up with a lie. "I-I was just going to a friend's house," he said finally.
Jey's eyes narrowed, and he applied more pressure to the guy's hand. "Ow, ow," the guy cried out, trying to pull his hand free.
Jey's eyes narrowed, his grip on Mark's hand tightening. "Let me ask you something, Mark. How is it that a man can run two people off the road and just leave them to drown?"
Mark's eyes darted back and forth, his face pale. "I-I don't know what you're talking about," he stammered.
Jey applied more pressure to Mark's hand, and the guy winced in pain. "Wake up and think to yourself, 'I'll give my friends a visit, going well over the speed limit.' And then what, Mark? You just happened to forget that you'd just run two people off the road?"
Mark's eyes welled up with tears. "Alright, listen, man... I don't even like... I don't remember yesterday... the crash, I don't... remember... I have a problem... I have a problem."
Jey's face twisted in disgust. "Yeah, you do have a problem. My girlfriend Rhea is the best person I've ever known. Her life is to entertain people, to make them happy even when they're going through the hardest times of their lives. Hell, little kids look up to her because she means something to everyone she's around."
Jey pressed Mark's wrist in more, and Mark groaned in pain. "You don't even remember running us off the road, do you? You're so stuck in your own little world, you don't care about anyone else's life."
Mark's eyes were streaming with tears now. "Please, man... stop... I'm sorry... I didn't mean to..."Jey's anger boiled over, and he reached out to grab Mark's throat, his fingers closing around it like a vice. "So, you're just a piece of trash, huh?" Jey growled, his eyes blazing with fury. "You get to snuff her out and live? What does that mean? What does that even mean?"
Jimmy burst into the room, his face stern. "Jey, that's enough!"
Jey didn't let go, his grip on Mark's throat tightening. "What? Why? This is what he deserves!"
Jimmy grabbed Jey's arm, trying to pry him loose. "Rhea's awake, Jey. Because Rhea's awake, and the first person she asked for was you."
Jey's grip faltered, and he looked up at Jimmy, his eyes wide with shock. Rhea was awake? She was asking for him?
Jimmy pulled Jey away from Mark, his voice firm. "Come on, Jey. Let's go see her. She needs you."
Jey's anger dissipated, replaced by a mix of emotions - worry, love, and relief. He let Jimmy lead him out of the room, his heart racing with anticipation.
Jey walked down to Rhea's room, his heart racing with anticipation. He opened the door and was met with the sight of Rhea lying in bed, sans tubes and smiling weakly at him.
Jey's eyes welled up with tears as he rushed to her bedside, his footsteps echoing in the quiet room. "Hey, girl," he said, his voice choked with emotion.
Rhea's eyes sparkled with love as she responded, her voice weak but full of conviction. "Hello, my love."
Jey's face crumpled, and he felt a lump form in his throat. He reached out and took Rhea's hand, holding it tight as he gazed at her adoringly.
"You gave us a scare there for a minute," Jey said, his voice trembling.
Rhea's smile grew stronger, and she squeezed his hand gently. "You know I wasn't going anywhere, Jey. Wherever you are, that's where I'm going to be. That's the deal, right?"
Jey's nod was vehement, his eyes shining with tears. "That's the deal," he whispered, his voice barely audible.
Just as Jey and Rhea were lost in their own little world, the door to the room burst open and the doctor walked in.
"Ms. Bennett, I think you're the most popular patient I've ever had," the doctor said with a smile. "Your well-wishers are becoming a mob out in the hall."
Jey laughed, his eyes still shining with tears. "Yeah, that's my family for ya," he said, his voice filled with amusement.
The doctor chuckled and turned to Rhea. "How are you feeling, Ms. Bennett?" he asked, his expression serious.
Rhea's eyes fluttered closed, and she took a deep breath. "I'm foggy, but mostly just tired," she responded, her voice weak but determined.
The doctor nodded sympathetically. "That's understandable. You've been through quite a bit," he said, his voice gentle.
Rhea's eyes snapped open, and she looked at the doctor with a worried expression. "Doc, I can't feel my legs," she said, her voice laced with fear.
The doctor's expression was reassuring. "The feeling will come back in a few days, Ms. Bennett. We'll start talking about physical therapy soon, but for now, let's just focus on getting you comfortable."
Jey's face was set in a determined expression. "But that's it, right? Mend a couple of bones, and that's it?" he asked, his voice laced with concern.
The doctor nodded. "Yes, that's right, Mr. Jey. You both are lucky to have made it out of this accident with relatively minor injuries."
Jey's eyes filled with tears as he turned to Rhea. He gently grabbed her face, his fingers soft and gentle. He kissed her head, then her lips, his touch tender and loving.
"I love you, girl," he whispered, his voice choked with emotion. "I love you."
Rhea's eyes welled up with tears as she smiled up at Jey. "I love you too, Jey," she whispered back, her voice barely audible.
The doctor smiled, his face softening at the sight of the two lovers. "I think we can let Ms. Bennett get some rest now, Mr. Jey," he said, his voice gentle. "You can come back and visit her later."
A few days later, Rhea and Jey were finally able to leave the hospital and head back home to Tampa. Rhea had to wear leg braces to help her walk, but she was determined to regain full mobility in her legs as soon as possible.
As they drove through the early morning hours, Jey couldn't help but glance over at Rhea, who had fallen asleep in the passenger seat. He smiled to himself, feeling a sense of relief and gratitude that they were finally home safe and sound.
As they pulled into Rhea's driveway, Jey leaned over and gently opened the door, waking Rhea up softly. "Hey, sleeping head, we're home," he said, his voice low and gentle.
--
Rhea groggily opened her eyes, letting out a soft groan as she stretched her arms above her head. "Ugh, I'm so stiff," she complained, yawning widely.
Jey chuckled and helped Rhea out of the SUV, carefully supporting her as she stood up on her braced legs. "We'll get you all settled in and comfortable in no time," he promised, wrapping his arm around her waist to help her walk.
As they made their way up the sidewalk to Rhea's front door, Jey couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and joy. They had made it through the accident, and now they could start the process of healing and rebuilding together.
Rhea smiled up at him, her eyes sparkling with gratitude. "Thanks, Jey," she said, her voice soft and sincere. "I don't know what I would have done without you."
Jey's heart swelled with love and emotion as he gazed back at Rhea. "You'll never have to find out, love" he promised, his voice low and confident. "I'll always be here for you."
The next morning, Rhea woke up in pain. She opened her eyes and looked around the room, hoping to see Jey lying next to her, but he wasn't there. She shifted uncomfortably, trying to sit up, but the pain was too much.
She groaned in frustration, reaching for the platform that she had to sleep with between her legs. Slowly, she un Velcroed it, wincing in pain as she moved. She had to get up, had to try and move around, no matter how much it hurt.
Rhea gritted her teeth and pushed through the pain, slowly getting up from the bed. She grabbed her leg braces and put them on, her hands shaking with effort. She took a deep breath and started to walk along the wall, using it for support.
As she made her way out of the bedroom, Jey saw her and rushed over. "Hey, what are you doing, Rhea?" he asked, concern etched on his face.
Rhea tried to sound casual, despite the pain. "I'm stretching my legs, or trying to. I'm okay, I just need to get to the table, thank you, Jey."
Jey watched her carefully, his eyes never leaving her face. When she reached the table, a sharp pain shot through her back, and she groaned in agony.
Jey was by her side in an instant, placing one hand on her back. "Okay, okay, I got you, baby," he said, trying to soothe her.
But Rhea shook him off, determined to prove she was fine. "No, huh-uh, I said I'm good, thank you, Jey," she said, her voice firm but weak.
Jey looked at her, concern etched on his face, but he eventually backed off, walking away in defeat towards the sink to get her a glass of water.
Rhea let out a sigh of relief, picking up a bottle of multivitamins. "See, no big deal. I'm good," she said, trying to sound convincing.
Jey then said, "Yeah, well, remember what the doctor told you?" as he filled up the glasses with water. "With everything you've been through and recovering, you can get dizzy or lightheaded."
He walked towards her with the water and put it on the table, his eyes fixed on Rhea's face.
Rhea nodded, her expression grim. "I know, I can't forget. I'm waking up in unbearable pain," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Jey then said, speaking loudly, "And on that note, I put your favorite snacks and your heated blanket by the couch. There's also a cooler filled with your favorite drink, and a trash can over there, so you ain't gotta get up."
As he crossed his arms, Rhea looked at him with a mixture of surprise and gratitude. "That's embarrassingly thoughtful, love. Thank you," she said, her voice soft and sincere.
She looked over at the couch, her eyes scanning the spread of snacks and drinks that Jey had arranged for her. She couldn't help but feel a warmth in her chest at the thought of Jey taking care of her, making sure she was comfortable and happy.
Jey chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I just wanted to make sure you had everything you needed, so you wouldn't have to get up and strain yourself," he said, his voice full of concern.
Rhea took her multivitamins and then Jey said, "You're as tough as they come, ain't ya, girl?" as Rhea walked slowly over to the couch.
Jey said, "But you should know better by now to be trying to get around without a hand. I mean, what if you have a spasm or what if you fall?"
Rhea then turned her head towards Jey and said, "You're going back to work today, Jey. I figured it was time I stood on my own two feet."
She continued to walk towards the couch, her pace slow and deliberate. Jey watched her, his eyes filled with concern. Jey then said, "That's nonsense."
Rhea stopped and looked back at Jey, her eyes narrowing. "What's that now?" she asked, her voice firm.
Jey shrugged his shoulders. "Look, I'm sorry, but you've got to walk with that walker that you refuse to use. And your mom called again this morning. Your parents are dying to come take care of you while I'm away at work."
Rhea spoke, her voice firm and determined. "Look, I told her, now I'm telling you, okay? I don't need anybody hovering over me, alright?"
She turned back and made her way to the couch, her legs trembling slightly as she walked. Jey watched her, concern etched on his face, but he knew better than to push the issue further.
As Rhea reached the couch, she let out a sigh of relief and sank into the cushions, her eyes closing as she settled back into the pillow.
Rhea was laying there on the couch, her eyes closed, her chest rising and falling with each slow breath. Jey was in the kitchen, washing the dishes, his movements quiet and deliberate.
As Jey scrubbed a particularly stubborn stain, he let out a deep sigh. He was worried about Rhea, worried about her insistence on doing everything on her own. He knew she was stubborn, but he also knew she wasn't ready to be on her own yet.
Jey rinsed the last dish and put it in the drying rack, his mind still on Rhea. He walked over to the living room, his eyes fixed on her peaceful face.
For a moment, he just stood there, watching her sleep. He felt a surge of love and protectiveness towards her, and he knew he would do anything to take care of her, even if it meant hovering over her a little more than she liked.
Jey's gaze drifted down to Rhea's wounded leg, and his heart went out to her. He knew she was in pain, and he wished he could take it away from her.
As he stood there, lost in his thoughts, Rhea stirred, her eyes fluttering open. She looked up at Jey, her gaze sleepy and unfocused.
"Hey," she whispered, her voice husky.
Jey smiled, his face softening. "Hey," he replied, his voice low and gentle.
Rhea's eyes cleared, and she looked up at Jey, her expression searching. "What were you thinking about?" she asked, her voice a little stronger now.
Jey's smile faltered, and he looked away, his eyes fixed on some invisible spot on the wall. "Just worrying about you, Rhea," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Rhea's face softened, and she reached out a hand towards Jey. "I'm okay, Jey," she said, her voice full of reassurance. "I'll be okay."
A few hours passed, and Jey had to leave for the airport. He made his way downstairs with a carry-on bag, his movements efficient and swift. As he reached the living room, he walked over to the couch and kissed Rhea softly on the forehead.
"I wish I didn't have to leave, but work is work," he said, his voice laced with regret.
Rhea smiled weakly, her eyes still sleepy. "Yes, babe, I'll be okay," she promised. "Go before you miss your flight. Call me when you land, okay?"
Jey smiled, his face set with determination. "Okay, I will. Don't you dare leave this house, either. I know you and how you can be," he said, his voice teasing.
Rhea chuckled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "I won't, I promise. Just go, and call me when you land."
With that, Jey turned and walked towards the door, his footsteps echoing in the quiet room. Rhea watched him go, her eyes fixed on his retreating figure.
As Jey disappeared from view, Rhea let out a deep sigh and closed her eyes, her thoughts swirling with memories of their time together. She knew Jey was right - she needed to rest and recover - but she couldn't help the feeling of loneliness that crept in whenever he left.
As the silence in the room grew thicker, Rhea's eyelids began to droop, her body succumbing to the exhaustion that had been building up all day. She knew she needed to sleep, to let her body heal and repair itself.
Rheas pov:
I watched as Jey walked out the door, my heart heavy with the knowledge that he was leaving me behind. I knew he had to go, that work was calling, but a part of me wished he could stay, just a little longer.
As the door closed behind him, I felt a pang of loneliness wash over me. The room suddenly felt empty, devoid of the warmth and energy that Jey brought with him.
I lay back on the couch, my eyes drifting closed as I let out a deep sigh. My body ached, my leg throbbing with a dull pain that refused to subside. I knew I needed to rest, to let my body heal and repair itself, but my mind was restless, refusing to settle.
I thought about Jey, about the way he had taken care of me, about the way he had made me feel loved and cherished. I thought about the way he had held me, about the way he had kissed me goodbye.
As I lay there, my thoughts swirling with memories of Jey and our time together, I felt a sense of gratitude wash over me. I knew I was lucky to have him in my life, to have him care for me the way he did.
I knew I would be okay, that I would get through this, but a part of me still felt scared, still felt uncertain about what the future held.
I took a deep breath, letting it out slowly as I forced myself to relax. I closed my eyes, letting the darkness wash over me, and let myself drift off into a deep and dreamless sleep.
As I slept, I knew that Jey would be thinking of me, that he would be worrying about me, and that knowledge brought me a sense of peace, a sense of comfort that I desperately needed.
The next day, Rhea woke up in pain, her body aching and sore. She knew she needed to take a bath, but the thought of doing it all by herself was daunting. She sighed and unvelcroed the platform between her legs, putting on her leg braces with a groan.
As she got up from the couch, Rhea had to grab onto the wall for support, her legs trembling beneath her. She took a deep breath and began to make her way to the bathroom, her movements slow and deliberate.
The walk to the bathroom was agonizing, every step sending shooting pains up her leg. Rhea gritted her teeth and focused on putting one foot in front of the other, her eyes fixed on the bathroom door.
Finally, she reached the bathroom and leaned against the sink, her legs shaking with exhaustion.
Rhea took a deep breath and began to undress, her movements awkward and clumsy.
As she lifted her leg into the bathwater, Rhea let out a cry of pain, her eyes welling up with tears. She was so tired of being in pain, so tired of being helpless.
But she knew she had to keep going, had to keep pushing through the pain and the fear. Rhea took a deep breath and began to wash herself, her movements slow and gentle.
As she lay in the bathwater, Rhea closed her eyes and let out a sigh, her body relaxing into the warmth. She knew she still had a long way to go, but for now, she was just going to rest and recharge.
After a while, Rhea got out of the bath, her body feeling a little more relaxed. She put on some clean clothes and made her way back to the couch, collapsing onto the pillows with a groan.
As she lay there, Rhea realized that she needed to call Jey, needed to let him know that she was okay. She reached for her phone and dialed his number, her heart beating with anticipation.
"Hey, babe," Jey answered, his voice warm and concerned. "How are you feeling today?"
Rhea smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "I'm okay, Jey," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm just tired and sore. But I'm okay."
Jey's voice was filled with relief. "I'm so glad to hear that, Rhea. I was worried sick about you. Are you taking your meds and following the doctor's orders?"
Rhea nodded, even though Jey couldn't see her. "Yes, Jey, I am. I promise."
Jey's voice was soft and gentle. "I know you are, babe. I just worry about you, that's all. But I have to go now. I have a meeting in a few minutes. I'll call you later, okay?"
Rhea smiled, feeling a sense of love and gratitude towards Jey. "Okay, Jey. I love you."
"I love you too, Rhea," Jey said, his voice warm and sincere. "Take care of yourself, okay?"
Rhea nodded, feeling a sense of peace wash over her. "I will, Jey. Bye."
Rhea was craving ice cream, but as she looked around the empty freezer, she knew she was out of luck. She sighed and got up slowly, her legs aching with pain. She grabbed the wall for support and walked along it towards the front door to get the keys.
As she reached for the keys, Rhea knew she shouldn't be driving. She was still recovering from her injury, and driving would only put more strain on her body. But the craving for ice cream was too strong, and she couldn't resist the temptation.
With a determined look on her face, Rhea fought through the pain and got into the car slowly. She adjusted the seat and mirrors, trying to get comfortable despite the ache in her leg.
As she drove to the store, Rhea winced with every bump and pothole. She knew she was being reckless, but she just couldn't help herself. The thought of a cold, creamy cone of ice cream was too enticing to resist.
When she finally arrived at the store, Rhea parked in the handicap spot and took a deep breath before getting out of the car. She moved slowly, her legs trembling with pain, but she refused to give in.
As she walked into the store, Rhea's eyes scanned the aisles, searching for the ice cream section. She finally found it and grabbed a few of her favorite flavors, including rocky road and chocolate chip cookie dough.
As she made her way to the checkout, Rhea felt a pang of guilt. She knew she shouldn't be driving, and she definitely shouldn't be walking around the store. But the ice cream was calling her name, and she just couldn't resist.
As Rhea put the ice cream in the back seat, she felt a really bad spasm and couldn't move at all. She sighed, not wanting to be a burden to anyone, and stayed in that position for 6 hours.
During those 6 hours, Rhea ate the ice cream she had bought, trying to distract herself from the pain and discomfort. But as the hours dragged on, she knew she couldn't stay stuck in the car forever.
Finally, Rhea gave in and called Naomi, hoping her friend would answer quickly. When Naomi picked up, Rhea could hear the concern in her voice.
"Hey, girl! How's the recovery going?" Naomi asked.
Rhea hesitated, not wanting to admit her foolish mistake. But she knew she had no choice. "Well, it's going...are you home? If so, can you meet me at Publix please? I kinda had a spasm and now I've been stuck in the car and can't move."
Naomi's response was immediate. "Rhea, you shouldn't be driving! Yeah, I'm home, I'm on the way."
Rhea sighed, feeling a mix of relief and embarrassment. She knew she had made a mistake, and now she was paying the price. But at least Naomi was on her way to rescue her.
As Rhea hung up the phone, she couldn't help but think about how stupid she had been. She knew she wasn't supposed to drive, but she had let her craving for ice cream cloud her judgment.
Now, all she could do was wait and hope that Naomi arrived soon. Rhea closed her eyes, trying towill the pain away, and waited for her friend to arrive and save her from her own foolishness.Naomi arrived and parked her car right next to Rhea's. Naomi got out and knocked on the car door, then opened it. Rhea sighed in relief and said, "Ugh, Naomi, I'm so happy to see you. Thank you for coming, friend."
Naomi responded with, "Of course, honey. But you waited six hours to call me?"
Rhea slightly moved her head in protest, and Naomi said, "Does Jey know you're here?"
Rhea hesitated, then said, "I didn't want to bug him while he was at work."
Naomi sat next to Rhea in the car and said, "Rhea, alright, let's check you out."
Rhea then said, "I'm okay."
Naomi asked, "Are you having a hard time breathing?"
Rhea responded, "No."
Naomi then asked, "Alright, where does it hurt?"
Rhea said, "My legs and my back are pretty busted."
Naomi went, "Mhmm, well, at least you didn't go hungry," picking up the empty ice cream container. "Which is good, because you can't take these on an empty stomach."
Naomi then pulled out a pill bottle from her back pocket and took two out. "They'll help with the pain and relax you."
Rhea said, "Huh?" as Naomi handed her the pills.
Naomi smiled and said, "Don't worry, They're prescribed. I brought them just in case you needed them."
Rhea took the pills, feeling a mix of relief and gratitude towards Naomi. She knew she had made a mistake by driving, but at least Naomi was there to help her now.
Rhea then said, "Naomi, I don't know how to be this person."
Naomi responded with, "You are the same person, Rhea, you just can't do the same things, and you won't be able to, not for a while."
Rhea looked at Naomi, feeling a sense of frustration. "Way to give a pep talk, Naomi."
Naomi slightly chuckled and said, "Yeah, I know, right? People expect women to just be on it 24/7, handle your husband, your household, your job like a boss all day every day. But God only gave us this one body, and as much as you and I hate to admit it, we are human."
Rhea looked at Naomi, feeling a sense of understanding wash over her. Naomi was right, Rhea wasn't superhuman, and it was okay to ask for help.
Naomi continued, "Rhea, asking for help doesn't mean that you're weak. It means you're wise. You're acknowledging that you can't do it all on your own, and that's okay."
Rhea sighed, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. She knew Naomi was right, but it was hard to accept that she needed help.
Rhea asked Naomi, "What are you doing?"
Naomi replied, "Driving you home," as she got up from the seat.
Rhea watched as Naomi walked around to the other side of the car and said, "That pill I gave you should relax your muscles enough to move again by the time we get back to your place."
As Naomi was closing the door, Rhea asked, "Uh, Naomi, what about your car?"
Naomi smiled and said, "I'll ride-share. I know how to use my apps," as she buckled Rhea into the seat.
Rhea chuckled and said, "You're a good friend, Naomi."
Naomi replied, "We got each other's backs," as she smiled back at Rhea.
Rhea nodded in agreement and said, "Does that include not telling Jey you found me stuck in my own back seat?"
Naomi laughed and said, "Oh no, ma'am. I'll leave that to you."
Rhea smiled, feeling relieved that Naomi wouldn't rat her out to Jey. "I appreciate that," she said, as Naomi closed the other car door and got into the driver's side.
As Naomi started the car, Rhea closed her eyes, feeling a sense of gratitude towards her friend. She knew she could always count on Naomi to be there for her, no matter what.
Naomi drove quietly, not saying a word as she navigated the roads back to Rhea's place. Rhea appreciated the silence, feeling like she could finally relax and let someone else take care of her for a change.
After a few minutes, Naomi spoke up, "We're almost there, Rhea. Just hang in there a little longer, okay?"
Rhea nodded, not opening her eyes. "Mmm-hmm," she murmured, feeling the numbness spreading through her body.
As they pulled into Rhea's driveway, Naomi turned off the engine and turned to Rhea. "Alright, girl. We're home. Let's get you inside and comfortable, okay?"
Rhea nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. She knew she was safe now, that Naomi was there to take care of her.
With Naomi's help, Rhea slowly got out of the car and made her way to the front door. Naomi supported her, holding onto her arm and helping her up the steps.
Once inside, Naomi helped Rhea to the couch, where she collapsed onto the pillows with a sigh of relief. Naomi smiled and said, "I'll get you some water and something to eat. You must be starving."
Rhea nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude towards her friend. "Thanks, Naomi. I don't know what I would do without you."
Naomi smiled and said, "You'll never have to find out, girl. I'll always be here for you."
