She may have been a mess stepping off of that plane, but she was a determined one. Her tiny carry-on trailing behind her, Kate crossed the entire airport to catch the skytrain in what was probably record time. If people recognized her, they never would’ve had the time to accost her. She was a woman on a mission. The blonde wouldn’t necessarily consider herself to be the most romantic person, but she felt compelled to do something special today. The stars aligned for her, she had a week off she fully intended to take advantage off, her amazing girlfriend was also free and with Taran around, Kate also had a friend to help her get things done. And getting things done she would.
Her simple plan was put in motion the moment she texted her friend to tell him she landed and that he needed to keep Kristen occupied for about two hours. Who knew that, of all things, what would inspire the blonde’s romantic Valentine’s day surprise… would be Kellyanne Conway. By the time she reached her girlfriend’s place, Kate had run through her whole plan once again and texted her friend to make sure the coast would be clear. For a second, she second guessed the surprise a little but, really, if her girlfriend hadn’t wanted the actress to use it she shouldn’t have left her a spare key to the little house.
She had less than 45 minutes left, if her timing was right, she needed to hurry. She rushed through a shower, hoping she at least got rid of that weird plane smell. She dried and curled lightly her hair, not having time to do anything particularly special to it, and simply added a little cupcake flavoured tinted lip balm and some mascara. The short, dark, silky, lace trimmed robe wasn’t her usual style, far from it, but today was nothing but usual if Kate had her say in it. Right on time, she heard the keys jimmying in the door and hurried off to the living room, propping herself up against the back of the couch. Damn, her suitcase, she forgot it in the hall. That would ruin the surprise, but it would completely ruin it if she darted off to remove it, so the blonde stayed put and waited, holding her breath a little.
It was Valentine’s Day and Kristen couldn’t be with her new girlfriend. There first Valentine’s Day and they would be spending it in different countries. Such was the life of actors, but it was still a tad bit disappointing. Taran had taken her out earlier, she supposed to distract the both of them-- herself from Kate being in New York and Taran from his current separation. After a satisfying brunch a bit of shopping, Kristen had decided to head back home. Maybe she could Skype with Kate a bit later if Kate had some free time today.
Arriving back to her place, Kristen balanced the bags in her hand as she tried to unlock her door. She put one bag beneath her teeth and used the edge of her hand to manage to get in. Hitting her hip against the door, she closed it behind her, humming a tune as she walked inside. Once inside, her hums turned into ‘do, do, do do’s’ as she dropped some of the bags on her coffee table. “My tummy’s turning and I’m feeling kind of homesick. Too much pressure and I’m kind of nervous,” she sang under her breath as she put her leftovers in the fridge and went to start to unpack her shopping bags in the living room.
“That’s when the taxi man turned on the radio and a jay-z song was on... and a jay-z song was on...,” she sang a little louder, humming as she pulled out some knew blouses she had bought. “SO I PUT MY HANDS UP. THEY’RE PLAYING MY SONG, THE BUTTERFLIES FLY AWAY,” she sang loudly, throwing her hands up and gyrating her hips. “I’M NODDING MY HEAD LIKE YEAH, IM MOVING MY HEAD LIKE YEAH,” she said, doing the sprinkler with her finger pointed. “I’VE GOT MY HANDS-- what the hell?” she cut off when she saw a suitcase in her eye site in the hall. “Whose suitcase is that?” she asked, walking toward it.
