Really it’s a win - win - win situation for all of us.” Lyss grinned, feeling Griff wrap an arm around her, shifting to face her as she remained comfortably nestled into his shoulder. In all honesty, Lyss was just as confused as Griffin was about their joint invitation to the game night, but at least they were on the same page about it. “Well have you met your brothers? Orion is barely fit for human consumption and Phoenix would scare the poor guy away. I’m surprised she didn’t pick Selene as the first one to introduce him too, but maybe she had different plans for spring break.” Lyss shrugged. “Guess that means we’ll have behave ourselves for once - really puts a damper on the whole good alcohol and good food bit. Makes me almost wish for an Owen party invite soon.” 

“The only thing Rhea can act through is crying for more money. You’d both be crushed by Danny-boy and I tonight and I haven’t even met the son of a bitch yet.” He took a sip from his beer, scrunching his nose at the word wedding. Although Rhea was older, Griffin wasn’t exactly ready to send his little sister walking down the aisle any time soon. “She’s somewhere in Africa. Saint Selene putting us all to shame. That’s exactly why he should meet the others. Sort of like a test to see if he can handle us all. I might be the most sane out of my brothers - no I am the most sane - but he’s gotta get used to the bullshit that comes with dating a Sheffield. Shit’s not easy and it’s not for the weak.” Griffin chuckled. “Don’t count on it. He’s been acting weird lately. Something about watching the game...”

“Mhm,” Shiloh called back, not really listening to Marlo, far too focused on the task at hand - setting up a surveillance camera atop a tree branch. Her last one had been too close to the trunk, and inconveniently placed by a bird’s nest. She’d ended up with hours of footage of a mama bird feeding her younglings and glancing suspiciously at the camera. While it had been adorable, it had not even contained a glimpse of the Jersey Devil that Shiloh had hoped it would. This time she was risking a little more - placing the camera a little farther along a branch, hoping the foliage would hide the camera from sight, yet not block the view. Of course, she wouldn’t know if it was in an ideal location until she saw the screen. In an ideal world she could ask Marlo to look for her and let her know, but she knew how impatient he was and how he’d likely tell her it was fine, if only to get going already. The sun was starting to set and Shiloh knew she had maybe one more chance to get this right before it was too late. “Alright, alright,” she relented, catching the tail end of Marlo’s griping. “I’m coming down now.” Scrambling backwards, she clambered down the tree, a little hop landing her on the ground. “Careful Marlo, if I didn’t know you better, I’d think you’re starting to sound concerned about me.” Shi smirked, brushing past him to check the laptop screen and examine her angle. “Shit, I mean, this could work, but I wish it was just pointed up a little more, like another 5 degrees.”

“Don’t kid yourself. I just don’t need another accidental death on my hands.” Marlo raised a hand to stop her question before it came. “That’s a story for another day.. like your deathbed. Honestly my billions of stories my only reason I want you to live a long life. Torture you with all answers you want for as long as possible.” Stuffing his hands into his pocket, he followed her to the laptop, groaning because he knew the angle was slightly off for her tastes. More proof he had been around her for longer than he was used to. “No. You’re not going back up there when it’s getting dark and I’m also not into introducing myself to this son of a bitch you’re obsessed with.” Marlo snorted knowing her newest conquest was another myth. If only she was interested in exploring the black forest in Germany or the desserts of Southwest America. Now there she’d actually find creatures to be excited over. Most had left the forests of even Vancouver as they were now becoming commercialized. Though there were a few fae he knew blended in with the public, the others chose to go deeper into Canada’s wilderness. But he avoided explaining it to Shiloh It might meant she’d leave, and despite his words earlier, she was the closest to human contact he’d had in a while. “Look that way,” he commanded, his finger pointing in the opposite direction and his eyes flaming to show his seriousness. Never had he shown Shiloh his true powers and he was nervous what would happen if she knew. It was different being considered a friend versus another science experiment. Marlo sighed, knowing this was going to take quite a bit of energy and some time off his current life span (not that he’d let her know). Groaning a bit, Marlo felt the flames combusting inside and making their way to his fingertips. Wanting it to be quick, mainly because he hadn’t exactly learned how to control his powers, fiery wings sprouted from his back and he lifted his now birdlike figure to the trees. Careful not to set the entire forest on fire, he knocked the camera what he believed was five degrees before dispatching to the ground and sprinting for the closest stream. “There!” He screamed after returning from underneath the water. “Now can we go? I’m starving.”

Li was momentarily distracted by the dress on the next page - this was the hardest part of wedding planning for the blonde, the wide array of options, the endless decisions that she had to make. Lijana was always one to just go with the flow, content to go with the easiest options or the ones that she chose on a whim; there were very few times she ever actively planned and considered options, and from there, even fewer times she decided something based off of careful consideration. Every page of wedding magazines held something shiny and new, a distraction from whatever else she’d been thinking about the moment before. The shaky note of concern that touched Oliver’s voice was enough to pull her from the glossy pages, Lijana turning to face him. “Darling, you don’t need to invest in a bullet-proof vest or a body guard.” She reached out, placing a hand on his wrist, thumb rubbing a reassuring circle into his skin. “He won’t hurt you. Dragan knows how much you mean to me - he might not be happy about the arrangement now but he’ll come around eventually. Besides, I know his body guard, Sophia, and she’d step in if he got too riled up. She’s a friend.” Li’s fingers traced from his wrist to his hand, intertwining her fingers with Oliver’s. “Tell me more about these flowers. Just petunias? Maybe some violets?”

Oliver shot a quick smile back but even her soothing tone was unable to fully erase his fears. Her brother may love his little sister, though he had an interesting way of showing it, but it didn’t mean he liked Oliver. Not that Oli would know whether or not Dragan could stand him; the man was incredibly hard to read. “I do believe it’s his life that’s safely in her hands, not mine. I’ll trust your word on the matter but I still think self-defense are a smart investment. Unless you’re ready for me to curl up on a ball or my brother to join the dinner. Either would be incredibly embarrassing.” He squeezed her hand before allowing her fingers to intertwine with his own. “Hm, you know your floriculture. My only request are that they’re purple. The wedding wouldn’t happen for years if it was up to me. I’ve barely figured out my groomsmen.”
