Jana was doing her best to try to remain as calm, cool and collected as she could, but it was hard with how disturbed Vanessa seemed to be. “Vanessa….what’s going on?” she finally asked as she followed after her.

“I”m going to be straight up with you,” Vanessa began, her eyes darting around to make sure they weren’t overheard,” the only connection between any of my recent patients and their illness is...me. Vanessa dusted herself off and tried to speak, “I’m sorry, didn’t mean to…” she started before her voice broke, when April asked her if she was ok she just shook her head no, tears hung at the corners of her eyes but she held it together,“ I mean, there’s been some sort of incident at the border.”

“I think Damon and some of his party pals got their hands on some of our people...its not a pretty picture,” Vanessa finally answered, fidgeting from foot to foot, she was ashamed of her own cowardice but from what she had seen those poor people where long passed her ability to be of any assistance. Hot tears formed at the corners of her eyes, if it took the rest of her life she’d see too it that those fascist dictator assholes payed.

Chris' silence worried Vanessa, this was just great now she had gone and inflicted some sort of unintentional trauma- Chris was far more sensitive than he let on, and being the big dumb bell that had probably just run rough shot over all his boundaries. Her shoulders relaxed when he spoke again,"I have some vodka, I have some bourbon, and I have some Jack Daniels.... not much of a variety right now but it is what what it is," She offered.

April had taken Loki out for a walk by himself since trying to take all three of the dogs at once was impossible. While on the walk she had passed the clinic and remembered that she should check in on Vanessa and see how the supply situation was going. After letting the fur ball back into the yard, she headed back down the street toward Vanessa’s and managed to get flattened. “Ow, what the hell?” It took her a minute or two to realize that it was the nurse that she had run into. “Are you ok?”

The morning was a warm one for January and Vanessa looked forward to taking full advantage of it as she left her house.  A nice walk would do her good- she’d blow off steam and maybe find some local bulbs and seeds for her garden.  She reached the edge of where she could safely dare to go and prepared to turn back when she ran right smack into a nasty surprise that no doubt Damon had left for the Resistance.

She shrieked before covering her mouth with both hands and bolted back toward home, her eyes darting between unoccupied buildings; the nurse subconsciously expecting an ambush. With hot tears running down her face Vanessa picked up speed desperate as she was for the safety for the locked doors of her clinic. “ Move out the www-,” she mumbled feebly before she mumbled before crashing into the first person who crossed her path. Lucky for her it was friend and not foe as they both lay splayed in the middle of the street. The blonde was seeing stars and she was probably gonna have a fat lip later.

Allergic? Jana couldn’t remember being allergic to anything but then again, so much had changed. “Okay, yeah,” she said as calm as possible, “Maybe we should go see her now.”

Vanessa grabbed slid her arms into her coat before grabbing up her tablet,” I’m gonna call ahead and see where she is, she might be out on patrol and we can catch up with her there.”

When the nurse finally got word back from their commander in Chief it was good news, “ Looks like she is on patrol, but she’s not far from here. Alright then, Let’s meet her half way.”

"I think we both will," she frowned in agreement as she cleaned and disinfected the incision. " There now, that wasn't so bad now was it?," she added for irony's sake as she finished up with a bandage," alright then, pick your poison," the nurse offered as she put the chip away for future reference- perhaps there was something Issac could learn from it.

“No, It’s ok, everything going to be alright,” Vanessa did her best to reassure her friend even as she she a cold ball of fear settling in her stomach. She gentle raised the back of Jana’s sweater and…. nothing. So that would rule out any cleaning agents anyone might be using, she suppressed her urge to scream when she got another look at Jana’s hands. It was taking the form of a hand print- Vanessa’s handprint. “Jana, don’t get scared but I think we may need to get Liz in on this one,” her voice was shaking and the world around her took on an unreal quality.

It was really hard not to get scared with Vanessa’s tone of voice. “Vanessa, what is going on?” she asked, trying to remain as calm as humanly possible.

"Sorry sweetie," Vanessa mumbled sheepishly as she continued her work. She wanted to get this over with as quickly and painlessly as possible for Chris' sake but she was also trying to avoid causing any muscle or nerve damage. She spotted the hateful little thing, she studied it as she put down her scalpel and grabbed a small pair of forceps. It wasn't imbedded in any major muscle. Her friend had lucked out. This time. "Got the bastard," she announced proudly as as she swiftly extracted it. " The hard parts over, now I just need to flush it out and clean it and we're all done." She soothed.
