Hi! I was wondering what some of your fav blogs on tumblr are? Love your work!
Hey there! Firstly, thanks for the compliment. It means a lot to me that there are people out there who support my work. It keeps me motivated to continue exploring the ideas that pervade much of my visual work, writing and sound work.
As far as favorite blogs are concerned, here’s a few that I really quite enjoy.
Denis Forkas - His explorations of mythology, esoteric concepts and reverence for old masters is intensely inspiring. I’m not only a huge fan of his work, but of the work of artists he himself finds admirable. There’s always work to be seen on his blog, “UT PICTURA POESIS" that is either new to me or old, but reignites a desire to push my own craft forward.
U-Klang - Run by the ever talented ekkolalia (also see @ekko-foto), this blog focuses on the sonic works of ambient, drone and noise artists on tumblr. It’s worth checking out to find and support interesting artists within the experimental music community. (As an aside, I am a contributor to this blog, but haven’t given myself to the time to bring any offerings to the table - which this question has reminded me that I should).
Michael Canich - This crazy guy is cool as hell and makes some of the most gorgeous artwork I’ve ever seen. His work in my eyes are like topographical maps, or comic books on acid. Strange, insanely detailed obsessive ink drawings that are visual eye candy.
Richard Auxilio - auxiliofaux & haplologic are two great tumblr blogs, both featuring Richard’s photographic works. It’s always a pleasure to see these beautifully dark, textural pieces from him pop up on my feed. Someone I know told me that a lot of my photographic work, though dark, tends to frame light. In plumbing the depths of his blog recently, I realize I owe a lot of that to him.
Teri Varhol - Yet another photographer whose works are just stunning to look at. One of those blogs that, as I’m writing, I’m switching tabs to look back at it, make me realize that I can do more with composition, texture, framing, et cetera. One of those artists who found that “it” factor which sets each individual piece off.
Others worth mentioning include candleghost, nowonlyghosts, blackmetalandbrews, deadlords, soft-altars, leangreenohmswatts, ilbwam, heksenhaus and arrrrrrrach.
That’s about it for now. Thanks again for writing!
