I got denied for disability after waiting 2 ½ years for a response and the wording in the letter pissed me off. So I wrote a poem about it.

You are not disabled under our rules.

Your body may be in constant pain. 

Your back may bend in all the wrong ways and your muscles may feel like sunburned taffy in a press. 

You may be too dizzy to stand or sit for more than a few minutes at a time. 

You may have chronic migraines and chronic fatigue and a chronic sadness from a childhood lacking love. 

You may have a dysfunctional thyroid and dysautonomia. 

You may have to sleep more than you are awake and you may have to use a wheelchair or cane any time you are able to leave the house. 

But aren’t you aware the medications you take to make your pain more bearable can also make you sleepier? 

Aren’t you aware that everyone wants an excuse to not do the dishes and your extreme back pain is laughable? 

Aren’t you aware that your life is expendable? 

Aren’t you aware that we don’t care about you at all? 

You are able to work some; you are able to work more. 

Just adapt. 

Just push yourself more. 

Just break your body more.

Just be a good little number on a screen and stop screaming as we churn you through the system and beat you to a pulp.

We're at the "JK Rowling is personally funding litigation to try and destroy AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL" stage of rabid UK terf brain.

Tldr Amnesty International, global human rights organisation, published a report called 'A growing threat: the anti-rights movement in the UK'. In it is detailed, amongst others, a whole bunch of transphobic groups and organisations, including Beira's Place, JK Rowling's trans exclusionary sexual violence support service. JK Rowling threw a shit fit and got Amnesty to take the report down by threatening libel. This was obviously not enough, because you can't appease a fascist, so now she's going to bankroll a bunch of lawsuits anyway through the JK Rowling Women's Fund.*

this tactic works because most people can’t afford to fight in court even if they win

but amnesty is a big org with the pockets to fight back this would be money well spent if they care about fighting the “anti-rights movement”

now they’ve taken the report down and they’re getting sued anyway

Disappointed in Amnesty pulling the report. They absolutely can win a libel lawsuit and it would put a big spotlight on JK Rowling's transphobia. The report highlights transphobic groups and evidence in the lawsuit would be focused explicitly on the accusations against Rowling's transphobic shit seeking to strip rights from trans people. With the report still up, it'd be easy for people to look into it themselves. Rowling doesn't look great suing Amnesty International, but pulling the report lets her set the narrative of what it was.
