Cool War Kids: Ronnie and James
So Ronnie would be the first to admit this wasn't all going well. Every time she walked out of a classroom, all conversation seemed to halt and all she could hear suddenly was heavy heartbeatsĀ accompaniedĀ with Ā shuffled feet and thatĀ overwhelmingĀ smell of pity. It was frankly disgusting and left her skin crawling and fuck it made her angry. Because none of it was for her it was directed to the boy next to her. Too long legs with messy hair and bright hazel eyes dulled by his demons. Maybe it was her hope that people knew how to act like real human beings and not like idiots. But she was proved wrong as everyone's eyes dropped and feet flew by trying to not be within a five mile radius within the kid whose parent died. He didn't deserve it, he didn't and it broke her heart. So instead of being that soft girl that kissed his nose in the morning, tucked her hands into his pockets and loved him in the most miraculous way. Ronnie stood two feet in front of him, her right fist squeezed tight and her jaw clenched with burning whiskey eyes. Challenge keeping her body taunt and lethal. Finally after the crowd had rolled away on their wave of misguided 'understanding', she tugged him to a empty corridor that housed only cobwebs and silence. Maybe she was being overwhelming or sensitive but Ronnie was breathing hard and her hands balled at her sides as she tried to calm down. "We aren't going to Charms. I fucking refuse."
