‘ Obviouslywe’d need a man dog like a pit-bull or a German Shepherd I don’t want to be walking around with one of those little rat things that would challenge my masculinity. I want people to cross the street when they see me with a dog, but it also needs to be cute and also cuddly ’ a world where Mac McDonald would get a small, yappy dog is a world in which he doesn’t want to live in - even if it would be an incredibly fitting companion to the head of security.

Even though she is near freezing to touch – both from the coolant and from the outside temperatures.

she beams at him, “are we friends? do you have a bird? i think they are called pokemon?”

I know he does.” Tobias looks away for a moment, afraid she’ll ask about Raphael.

“But why don’t we go play? We gotta get started now if we wanna make any kind o’ snowman before the sun sets!” He puts on a big smile.

Like a dog, or a cat, or we can start with like a goldfish or a worm. ’ he’s not too fond of the idea of a pet worm, only because he’s terrified Charlie’s going to eat it or that there’s going to be soil everywhere, but he’ll consider it with the promise that they can finally nest down into their very dysfunctional family. He smiles, a selection of adoption home brochures in his hand.

“Next person I hear yell ‘Praise the Sun’ will be praising my foot up their ass or a pellet to the head…” She’s been god awful tired since the whole affair with Gwyndolin, pretty much getting by on coffee or small energy shots. Hasn’t really slept much.

✝ |{ Tobias winces a bit, sending a quick prayer to God to give this woman a bit of respite. “Is there anythin’ I can do, ma’am?” he asks quietly, standing a little bit away just in case she is to spurn him.

“excuse me!” the small child-like android tugs at the man’s shirt, hoping to get his attention, “excuse me, have you seen a man? he’s tall and he is my friend and his name is ‘wheatley’ and i wanted him to go to the park and throw snowballs with me, but i cannot find him.” the girl’s wide, unnaturally glowing eyes gaze up at tobias pleading, “will you throw snowballs with me? we can make a snowman, too.” she nodded, rocking back and forth on her bare heels. “please? pretty please, mister?”

✝ |{ Tobias’ brows furrow as he hears and tries to parse meaning from the little girl’s very quick chatter. “There’s a very good chance Mr. Wheatley ain’t here with you. But don’t lose hope! Keep searchin’ and you might find him. But... i-in the meantime, I got a couple of hours to spare. I can make a snowman or two,” he says and offers her a warm smile... which fades when he sees her bare feet.

“Oh, honey!” he cries, kneeling down and looking at her with wide eyes full of frightened concern. “Where are your shoes?! It’s incredibly cold out! Goodness, they’ll freeze right off and you won’t even feel it! Did those scientists not give you any shoes?! Good Lord above, someone oughta smack some common sense into ‘em.”

His finger tapped impatiently on his forearm as he stood in front of his agency, arms crossed. The professor couldn’t decide on what to do with the property - the offices were getting full up and he’d prefer his detectives to have their space ideally. A bigger morgue for Anda to work in would be good too…Enough space for a desk and a few chairs.

He didn’t turn to the man standing next to him, simply asked: “Can I help you?”

The church was empty. A single orange statue stood still on top of the altar, its form menacing yet with a rather holy aura. It stood still, like it was waiting for something.

Michael simply is when there is no people. There is no need to go outside now. No need.

✝ |{ Well, this was certainly new. Raphael had only just gotten over the brisk winter air from outside when he spied the statue on top of the altar. His brows furrowed, and a look of confusion and mild disapproval laid on his face.

pale cheeks flare red at the soft kiss, his own eyes slipping closed for the second that the kiss lasts. it’s strange, in a way. of all the people he though he might to date someday, tobias hankel was never on the list (for obvious reasons). still, the man is so much more than anything he could have hoped for. handsome, gentle, and well-meaning, he hopes if he ever dd go back to his world none of the memories would carry – if only so he wouldn’t have to feel the hurt and the pain leaving would cause.

he loves tobias – the man means the world to him, and spencer is glad they’re the same height, making dancing much easier. “here.” spencer mumbled, moving closer, his hands shifting to lightly wrap around his neck, their bodies close. it was easier – swaying versus actual dancing.

and he moves tobias’ hands to his waist. it’s soft and strange and different, and spencer loves it. he loves him. he’s quiet, letting his head rest of tobias’ shoulder. he takes a breath, “i love you.” he whispers, soft and gentle.

✝ |{ “I love you, too.” There is no need for courage behind the statement here as he embraces Spencer. Father is gone. Raphael is strangely quiet nowadays. Maybe this city, with all its chaos, is the healing he needs. “I love you so much. I’ve loved you since I laid eyes on you.”

He gently sways back and forth, letting that be the dance they share. He leans his head against Spencer’s lightly, eyes slipping shut. He holds the young man close, relishing in the warmth he gave off, relishing in the closeness of someone. He’s finally become Job, completely––God granting him his reward after a time of unbearable hardship.

✝ |{ It was probably best for him to go last, lest he only want to be an accompaniment to more upbeat Christmas-themed songs. The ballroom was still warm, even as the night grew old and people began to get ready to leave. Adjusting his suit one last time with his free hand, he swallowed back what could have been a bit of bile and stepped onto the stage.

God, there were so many people here. He hadn’t performed in front of a crowd since he was fifteen, so long ago now that he thought about it. He glanced to his right, meeting the pianist’s eyes. He seemed supportive, giving a smile and a small thumbs-up. Tobias matched the smile with his own nervous one before taking center stage. He heard the A from the piano, tuned quickly, and closed his eyes. The opening notes of an introduction began to float along the air, and after seven bars, Tobias raised his bow, prepared to play, waiting for bar eight.

And play he did, soon losing himself in the music. He would play for Christ, he would play for Spencer, for all of the friends he’d made––and if he would play for them, then he would play perfectly.

Well there were a few upsides to going inside the manor for the ball—one of which was, well, food. She’d let it slip her mind to bring anything to eat while up in the tree, so she’d left her gun in a safe spot and slipped in to get some food to go back up with. Maybe some drinks as well, it was a party after all. After gathering enough, she moved to go back out, but stopped when she noticed a man waiting off to the side with a violin case, looking a little nervous.

Thinking for a bit she decided to go over. Perhaps best to give some encouragement to him than leave him as was. “You play the violin?” She asked as she walked up, smile on her face.

“That’s impressive! I’ve never had a knack for musical instruments myself. Have you ever played a venue this big before?“

✝ |{ Tobias was practicing bowings and fingerings quietly as he waited for his turn to play, and so when he heard a kindly voice call to him, he jumped a bit as his thoughts were jostled and turned to wisps of smoke. He turned, his eyes meeting an amber eye and an eyepatch.

“Oh,” he scratched the back of his neck even though it didn’t itch. “Y-Yeah, I do play violin. I’m scheduled to play tonight sometime soon. I’ve never played in front of this many people before, and I’m a little nervous, if it wasn’t obvious.” He tried for a smile.

“i’m not the best, either.” spencer admitted with a soft laugh. he never got the chance to do things like going to dances growing up – due to his age and his peers general disdain for him, the only dance he ever attended was prom, if only because ethan wanted to crash it. “but it’s more for the fun of it.”

he pulled him towards a table so they could set tobias’ violin down then moved them back to the floor. the music was slow, and spencer set a hand on the other man’s shoulder and the other one in Tobias’ hand. “you can lead, i am versed in how to dance the non-leading part.” his lips curled into a smile. if nothing else, it was nice to get to spend time with him.

✝ |{ Tobias took his overcoat off and laid it on a seat, leaning his case against it and half under the table as to not get in anyone’s way. He fidgeted with his hands a bit, not able to meet Spencer’s eyes. This was almost embarrassing; he should have learned how to dance before coming here. He willed himself to straighten up and look at Spencer, take a really good look at him before resigning himself to eternal embarrassment on the dance floor.

Spencer Reid was gorgeous. The suit he wore complimented his figure more than well, and purple was a fantastic color on him. He’d combed his hair and he looked as soft as the dawn. Tobias felt his cheeks grow warm, and he pulled Spencer closer to him. “Y-Yeah. I’ll try.” That was all anyone could ask.

But before they’d do that, he leaned in and planted a very soft and very short kiss on Spencer’s lips.

spencer moved carefully beside his date inside the large room. it was beautiful, fancy, elegant, and welcoming (he would know, he’d helped decorate). spencer’s hazel eyes roamed the room and he nervously looked around. the music had begun, and spencer kept close to tobias, hand in hand, finger’s shyly interlaced with the other. the party had been in swing for a short time, and the music was slowing down, just a bit. he chewed his lip, softly. “do you want to – dance?” he asked, softly, shyly.

✝ |{ “I don’t know if I have a lot of time,” Tobias admitted, voice quiet and hesitant. Half of his voice was lost to the grandeur of the ballroom, half was lost to guilt––he’d signed up to play and play he would. He’d been rehearsing for ages, the rental violin not the best, but reliable enough. “But... I’ll try and dance with you for at least a little bit. I got two left feet, I-I should warn you.”

His cheeks felt way too hot, his hands trembled just a bit and nearly dropped his violin case... but he wouldn’t trade the warmth Spencer gave off for anything in the world.
