Also ‘Alejandro isn’t Spanish, he’s Mexican’…Dude he is Mexican and their national language is Spanish…not every Spanish speaking country speaks the same Spanish but it’s still Spanish. He speaks Mexican Spanish but using a blanket term such as Spanish doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. It’s just that some terms are different in Mexican Spanish than in the version of Spanish in other countries.
If you do not like people writing fanfics of your favorite video games/ shows/ movies/ comics/characters, then how about DONT ENGAGE OR DONT LOOK UP THE FANFICS.
People do not deserve to be harassed for engaging in hobbies that they like and showing their love for a fandom in their own ways. i was trying to use a blanket term, but after learning (the hard way apparently), that it can be offensive to some people, i will not be using it. when talking about (for example) alejandro, i will say “in mexican spanish” rather than “in spanish” to avoid any more conflict because to be completely honest, a lot of this situation has been a little stressful and has put me off writing. i am not going to stop writing all together, but it will be a little while for me to get back on track. i have been writing fanfictions for years prior to this blog and i’ve actually never once had this experience so i was a bit shocked at first. i really am trying to play it off to avoid any worry in the fandom, but i really do have to admit that i’m worried to write for a lot of characters now in fear of the response.

You can look up Mexican phrases to help, i understand with using an umbrella term as Spanish is a very big language used in Central and South America but if you want to right something for König he uses Österreichisches Deutsch (Austrian German), Deutsch is the umbrella term
i’ll be sure to start writing it as Mexican-Spanish and Austrian-German from now on as i’ve learnt that using an umbrella term can be offensive for some people, tysm for the information though!! :)

Hi !! So I came across your page particularly with the whole issue of Alejandro’s ethnicity of saying he’s Spanish when in fact he’s Mexican. The way people are attacking you is insane and truly uncalled for ! But I will say, it’s really important to make sure an author utilizes the correct biography about the character ! I’m Mexican myself and half the time if not all the time we Mexicans despise the Spanish. Very horrible history with them (if you’re not aware feel free to learn more about it on google lol). Especially when we fall under the umbrella with them. Yes Spanish is the common language but there are various ways that they are spoken, different accents and the pronunciation of words are vastly different. While I’m sure you didn’t mean to confuse the both, I highly recommend to educate yourself ! (I don’t mean it in a rude way) but especially when writing about different ethnicities , one must try not to follow the misconceptions or utilize stereotypes (not saying that you are !) but you know just be a little weary !
