You are not bad for going back into the closet or not wearing your hijab or presenting as your assigned gender in the coming weeks. You are still deserving respect and you are still worthy of love. Your physical safety comes first.

A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION SHOULD NOT LEAVE PEOPLE SOBBING IN FEAR FOR THEIR LIVES AND THE LIVES OF THE PEOPLE THEY LOVE
"My parents told me that they loved me no matter what."
In honour of Transgender Awareness Month, BuzzFeed asked the members of the BuzzFeed Community to share their best tips for supporting trans friends and family. Here’s what they had to say:
1. Always respect the power of pronouns.
2. Got questions? Don’t be afraid to ask (politely)
3. And don’t be afraid to do a little research on your own
4. Once you get a handle on everything, take the time to educate people around you
5. Live too far away for a chat face-to-face? Pick up the phone and give them a ring just to say you’re thinking about them
6. Try to make big social events, like dinner parties or family gatherings, safe spaces for everyone to enjoy
7. Boost their confidence with words of encouragement (your opinion probably means more than you know)
8. You may need time to process everything that’s happening, but remember that what matters most is your loved one’s safety and well-being
9. And if you’re able, offer them a safe space to stay
10. Take them on a shopping spree! Even if you’re not paying, they’ll appreciate having someone to try on clothes with
11. And even if you can’t fully understand everything they’re going through, do your best to be there for them all the same
12. Humour can help break the ice after someone comes out to you (but remember to be sensitive)
13. Sometimes the best thing is to simply not change a thing — treat them just as you always have
14. Having trouble finding the right words? Send them a care package or letter so they know you’re thinking of them
15. Because even the smallest gesture can mean the world to someone
16. And, most importantly, remember you can never say “I love you” too many times
white boys who respond to criticism of racism and sexism by ominously saying that there are ‘bigger problems’ scare me. like what is this big secret problem and why won’t anyone tell me about it? are we going to be eaten alive by mutant sharks? are oranges secretly poisoning us? who knows. the white boys, apparently.
Here’s to all my boys with love handles, stretch marks, ribs that show, who feel they are too big or too small, who feel “unmanly,” who have cellulite, who can’t grow facial hair, who can’t seem to gain weight or lose it, who feel “too short” or wish they looked like a male model. Y'all matter. Love you. 💕
This reassures me very much. :D
you are not obligated to
be someone’s counselor and help them with all their problems if its bad for your mental health
be there for someone 24/7
remain friends with someone who emotionally drains you
maintain negative relationships because you’ve been close for so long, because you’re related, or anything else
do anything that makes you unhappy or puts your health at risk
Polls start opening in under 12 hours but felony convictions disenfranchise more than 5 million people, including 7% of the African-American community. A major contributor to the problem is the school-to-prison pipeline: A system of flawed policies that send at-risk youth—especially people of color—directly into the criminal justice system.
Mic’s The Movement (@the-movemnt) did an Issue Time on the subject. It’s well worth your time, and it’ll give you plenty to chew on when you ✧・゚*go and vote tomorrow*・゚✧

Our vice president will be a man who believes we should defund HIV research and use the money to fund gay conversion therapy. Let that sink in.
not to mention this:

and the fact that pence literally signed for a bill to put lgbt+ in jail for applying for a marriage license
The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

message to my women, Muslim, PoC, LGBT, and disabled followers:
I love you all. Your lives are valuable. There are still a lot of people out in the world who love you.
Please, please, please, stay strong. Now is the time to fight back and show that we won’t be erased.
And please tell those around you who need it that they are loved.
lower-income people tend to be “hoarders” and richer people are able to do more “minimalist” living spaces. if u don’t have much, you will hold onto any little thing that comes across your way. you got a new tv, but you still keep the old tv because you know things can break. you keep extra boxes of macaroni and cheese lying around because there will be a week when you don’t have money for groceries. you hold onto your stacks of books and clothes for dear life. those are your assets. physical evidence of where your money’s gone. it’s hard to get rid of it. the bare wall is terrifying when you don’t have much.
Fuck. This makes so much sense and explains so much about me. I must have inherited this from my mum.
