Dinner day 2
A little about me; I’m a 28 year old who considers herself a carnivore for the most part, I don’t really ever eat any vegetables aside from a salad once every couple weeks and a veggie patty here and there. Unfortunate I know but what can I say; I just don’t enjoy them as much as a nice juicy cheeseburger. I am going to give up meat for one whole week (7 days) it feels like an eternity already and I have only just begun. The whole reason I am giving up meat is just to see if I can do it really; my boyfriend and I were talking the other night and we decided to give it a whirl, I’m sure this is going to be a breeze for him because he loves veggies. I am a little scared to go on this venture but I am feeling semi- confident I guess. Please if you are a vegetarian or vegan, keep the save the animals comments to yourself please. I love animals and all but I also love meat, I like to think that I love plants so much that I hate to eat them. I am also a plant lover. So if you are wondering what it’s like to go vegetarian for a week stay tuned. Should be interesting...
Day 1
It’s the first day and i feel OK. It’s about 6:55 pm and i have just eaten an edible and I feel like I might not make it the whole week. For dinner we had Lo Mein noodles with chopped up tofu seasoned with soy sauce, ginger, garlic and other various seasonings. I put peppers, onions and broccoli in my boyfriend’s, but sadly mine was very lonely looking as it only had the tofu and lo Mein noodles. Thankfully we also had some veggie dumplings that were delicious by the way; if it wasn't for those delicious little things I may have just collapsed right there on the living room floor. I have to say the tofu is really not up my alley, much too creamy for my liking. The last meat I ate was on a pizza, it was chicken with roasted garlic and feta. And that is all I’m really thinking about as this edible hits my digestive tract and the hunger kicks in. If you have ever eaten an edible you will know what I mean. The munchies that come with eating edibles are something out of this world. I really don’t know how this next week is going to go but I guess we shall see. Stay tuned...
Day 2
It’s been about 30 hours since my last taste of meat. I awoke at 6 AM feeling feeble and very tired, not sure if it’s because it’s so early or the lack of meat. But my money is on the meat. I had a bagel with peanut butter this morning so I am feeling a bit more energized. Coffee is helping somewhat but not sure how this day is going to go. I was in a rush this morning when I woke up, so I didn’t have much time to grab anything for lunch. All I have is a cheese stick and a banana…Sad.
It’s about noon and I go to eat my cheese stick and about halfway through it falls to the floor; I was devastated! This has never happened to me before and I am betting that it is because I am so weak from the lack of meat that I can’t even hold up a god damn cheese stick. Sadly the banana is the only thing I have to rely on for the rest of the day until I get home to my meatless apartment. I have no idea what I am going to do for dinner, I found some vegetarian recipes online that look pretty good so I’m going to give one of them a try. I’ll keep you posted on what I make with pics.
I arrived home this evening from work hungry. Hungrier than I've been in a long time. Looking forward to eating some dinner and I remember that I am in a meatless home. So I bust open my cupboards and see some quinoa and decide I'm going to make it. I cook it up with some kidney beans diced tomatoes, peppers and onions. I have to admit it was quite tasty although something was missing can't quite put my finger on it. Never had quinoa before a little different pretty, bland didn't taste too bad with all the other stuff though. Could really go for some chicken right now, I can't lie. It's actually harder than I thought and it's only day 2.
Day 3
So its day 3 and I woke up late n not as tired as the day before. Luckily I packed up some food last night for today! WOOT WOOT. I actually feel like i may have more energy, I haven't had coffee yet and probably won’t until this afternoon
... So I'm finally at home, never did get that coffee...could explain the headache I've had all day...or could it be from lack of chicken and beef? I feel like I'm coming down with a cold or something. Probably from the absence of meat. But I made some great beef less tacos which saved the day. Some vegetable protein that mimics ground beef, not bad, with chopped jalapeños. Yummy... I think I might make it the whole week, I'm almost halfway thru!
Day 4
Woke up late AGAIN! I really need to stop doing this shit. I would blame the meat or lack thereof, but i have a chronic problem with being late. I just love my bed in the morning. Not having coffee is kind of rough but I think I’ll manage. Another long meatless day ahead of me. It’s actually not that hard, I was expecting to be starving but I actually found a ton of good recipes. Having a grilled cheese from this deli nearby it was really mediocre. But I have tacos to look forward to at home. Beef less tacos! I really have been thinking how far are i willing to take this thing, and i have to admit...not that far. I don’t think i can realistically be vegetarian forever. I would like to cut down my meat consumption for the sake of the animals. Thinking of going to a humane farm and checking it out, see what they got going on.
Day 5
It’s Friday!!! Yay finally, it has been such a long week, with the no meat and all. Honestly it hasn't been that bad; made veggie burgers last night with French fries and made a salad for today, my monthly salad lol. I think i may give up red meat even though i love steak and all i think I can do without it, i gave a pork a while ago and i don’t really miss it, wasn't a huge fan of it anyway. But Chicken and turkey sandwiches! I don’t know if i want to go a life without them, I don’t know that I really could go a life without my precious feathered friends. My week is up on Sunday so i still got a few more days, I’m beginning to think I can really do this!
Day 6
I have just about made it, kind of hard to chosse stuff when at a restaurant wihtout meat! i ended up getting grilled cheese. It was sooooo good so much cheese :)
Day 7
I did it! I made it the whole week without meat! I never thought I could actually do it. It wasn't as hard as I thought after the first few days. Now to go to this wedding that i really dont want to. :(
