Not too long ago I was really getting back into undertale and my friend didn’t really know much about the game, so for like a week straight I would feed her fake lore and fake characters and fake occurrences in the fandom. And not only did I give her fake information about the game but I also fabricated evidence to back up my claim. Made sprites for characters that didn’t exist, made fake tweets about non existent fandom drama, made a series of tweets from Toby fox going on some JK R*wling shit like saying that in the game sans and papyrus are obviously and explicitly depicted as “canonically Latinx”. One of the things I put the most work into was a creating a whole comic about Alphys discovering she was pregnant with Sans’ child just to back up my claim that they’re the most popular ship in the fandom. I think that week I learned duplicit scheming and spreading misinformation is one of the highest motivators for creation.
