Body shaming
Body shaming is one of the largest troubles in today's society. Body shaming can be found in all sizes, races, and genders, but is more established in women. I was surprised after seeing this illustration on google, because nowadays social media is one of the main platforms that projects body shaming towards women. Therefore, this illustration creates an irony and a contrast since in this case, this image spreads body positivity. We can obviously perceive how they feel great on their body and they couldn't care less assuming that people groups judge them. I can’t see the person who drew this amazing picture because it was not mentioned. To post an image like this can show up to the population to stop body disgracing.
It's really sad to realize that women who experience body shaming stow away. It can be isolating themselves from the world, covering up their bodies, or preferring to be ‘invisible’. This shouldn't be like this. We should not be ashamed of our bodies. We must continue to inspire, support, and encourage each other. Until everyone realizes this, the problem of body shaming will remain. Body shaming is a problem that cannot be solved until everyone learns to accept their body because I was also a victim of my body. When I was young, I got badly bullied when I was a new student in high school because I was extremely skinny. I’ve always been thin in my entire life and people always ask me the same questions “You’re so thin, do you even eat food?”, “How do you eat so much and still not gain weight? “Why don’t you gain more weight?“ “Are you anorexic?”And I don’t like this type of question because I always feel really bad about myself and I thought I had a problem with my health and body. When I saw this picture I was like “DAMN” how can they post a picture like this on a social media. This is really amazing and inspires me to be myself. In this illustration, we can clearly see that there are a lot of types of bodies. Each woman has a different skin color. This is used to spread diversity in this work. Moreover, different women from different races can feel included by looking at this image. And also different shades of brown are used in this drawing by the creator. They all have different shapes of belly, height, and legs. It could be related to the quote “We all come in different sizes and shapes”. Once again, by doing this, the artist spreads diversity which includes skinny, chubby, small, and tall women. And this was the moment that I realized that no one should feel embarrassed over their weight or body. Furthermore, this picture clearly shows me that we really need to stop body disgracing. These women can show us how they love themselves and take pride in being body confident. And this illustration shows me that we are all equally beautiful. In my opinion, there is no one type of beauty in this world that is better than the others.
To stop body-disgracing, we should accept and respect others as they are and stopped torturing them everyday for having a particular body shape. You are beautiful just because you are you because you have a uniqueness that no one else in the planet can imitate or take away from your body. Once again, love yourself and try to respect everyone and each human's body.
