Angular momentum is the physical property that keeps a spinning gyroscope upright, it resists any force that tries to tip it over. Depending on the wheel's weight, its size, and how fast it is whirring around its central axis. Essentially, the faster and heavier the disk spins, the more "rotational stability" it gains, making it much harder to change its orientation.
