MORE DETAILS ABOUT MY REVIVED ZANKA AU!!
I imagine that Jabber found the well about a week after Zanka died, just after Enjin passed by. He’d heard rumors about a ghost in the well and came around to check it out. When he met him he was instantly enamored. Jabber saw his potential, his strength, saw that he was just like him (even thought he denied it. vehemently.)
Jabber started going the well everyday, looking forward to it, neglecting his raider duties a bit. They talked and talked but the longer they did they more they both wished they could have a proper fight. Well, why couldn’t they? Zanka’s ghost and his body were still there, why couldn’t he just… put them back together?
It didn’t take long for Jabber to start searching for a way to “revive” him, to put his soul back in his body. A few failed attempts left Zanka’s corpse a little less pristine then he’d hoped it’d be, but he figured it out after a few months. In the end, he came up with a mix of different concoctions that kept Zanka’s corpse body from rotting away while he lived in it. Since Aibo had kept his corpse preserved, he looked almost normal again, just very sickly. They finally had their first fight, and even though Zanka lost, they were both happier then they’d ever been.
Zanka was just as excited to be “revived” as Jabber was to “revive” him. He was ready for his second chance, to prove himself against his new rival (something about average joes winning against geniuses… who had told him that again?) The two quickly fell into a routine; they would fight, with Jabber usually winning, then Jabber would patch Zanka up before himself, giving him medicines and ointments to heal him. It took much longer for him to heal in his undead form, but as soon as he did they went right back to fighting again. Zanka spent all the free time he had training to fight Jabber, and Jabber spent his toxin testing time looking for better medicines for Zanka. It only made sense for Zanka to join the raiders with Jabber aswell, even if he didn’t particularly agree with their agenda.
Zanka’s always a little out of it due to the side effects of Jabber’s medicine, but he’s still mostly himself. He often forgets to talk care of himself (eating, drinking, sleeping, etc) and Jabber is there to remind him or help him if needed. He moves very unnaturally most of the time, like he’s puppeting his body instead of living in it (wow i wonder why). All the other raiders find Zanka and Jabber’s obsession with him creepy, but Zodyl keeps him around because he sees value in the medicines Jabber keeps making for him.
His attachment to Aibo is EXTRA bad because of how long he spent alone with her. He refuses to let anyone touch her, except for Jabber, and he carries her around at all times. He also talks to her affectionately out loud (which only creeps out the other raiders more). It’s bad, but Jabber and His’ mutual infatuation with each other isn’t much better.
Jabber attchment to Zanka is, to put it straight, an intense obsession. He saved him from the well, and Zanka is happy to beat his ass in return. Zanka is perfect; he’s his other half, he’s his personal project, he’s everything to him. All the other raiders have noticed this obsession, and most have recognized it as the sick and twisted love that it really is. Jabber hasn’t, but he knows they have something special together, something he doesn’t feel the need to label.
As expected, Zanka is equally as attached to Jabber as he is to him. He did save his (after)life after all. He’s indebted to him of course, that’s why he sticks around all the time. Not because he likes their fights a bit too much, not because he cares about Jabber, and definitely not because he enjoys his company (oh so we’re just lying now.) He is SOOO in denial, but they already act like a couple anyway so it doesn’t change much.
Also, Enjin and Riyo had talked to him before, and most likely connected the dots with the rumors about the Nijiku’s missing son. The angst possibilities with them seeing him again as a raider years later, especially since they thought he was dead. So much guilt and regret and confusion and HORROR. AAUGHHH
If anybody has any thoughts abt all this PLEAAASEE tell me i GOTTA hear em. Especially abt how Jabber actually “revived” him cause im not too confident abt that part rn, i feel like it could be clearer.
