Home | Ch1 | Echo | Motive Reaction | Open
Echo has been doing okay, considering how the events after the trial had shaken her to the core. She was usually hanging around library and…running back and forth from the karaoke room, like she was hiding something….it was best not to ask. On this day, she was just lounging in her room, practicing some needle felt work. The sudden announcement made her jump, nearly dropping her work in progress before she sighed. Wonder what’s going on now. Cleaning up her things, Echo picked up her plush rabbit and headed towards the designated area.
She furrowed her eyebrows as she took in the scene in front of her, which is Monoshi and Monoka at the karaoke machine. Were they going to do an activity? Or…no they’re going to announce a new motive. That’s nice (no it wasn’t).
A shiver ran up Echo’s spine at the mention of family. Now that she thought about it, it has been a while since she’s been on this train, what was her family doing? A distressed look came across her face at the threat of them having a bad time. It was only just recently they’ve been together as a family, now they were going to be torn apart…?
Echo shook her head. No. No she wasn’t going to hurt anyone while she’s here. The best thing she could hope for is survival, which, considering her rather weak health and short stature, might be a bit impossible but hey, she just has to have hope and persevere. It still didn’t stop the girl from trembling a bit as she stood there, unsure of what to do. Thoughts swirled in her head before she felt someone nearby, catching her off guard and making her jump in surprise. Wow, she was super jumpy today.
“A-ah…! Hello…! May I help you with anything…?”
⚜ Family Values ⚜Nahoko ⚜ Re: Motive ⚜ OPEN
Peace had fallen upon the train after the execution of Endo Fujimaru and though she should have found this a nice reprieve from the tense atmosphere that had befallen then when the first motive had been revealed, she knew this was not the end of their troubles. On her end, she’d tried to find a way out, tried and failed to find people willing to help her, and ultimately she’d given up on the idea of getting everyone out.
Monoshi’s announcement didn’t help her already sour mood. Of course he was back-with the success of a murder and execution, why wouldn’t he be back? She sighed, heading to the karaoke room to see what he wanted. Knowing him, he was going to scare everyone with a motive and then sit back and wait for one of them to crumble and murder again.
Unfortunately-but obviously-,her deduction was right; under a pretense of calm, he’d dangled the possibility of hearing from or about family in front of them and then added a threatening undertone to it to add in that fear factor.
Pathetic.
Almost as soon as he’d stopped talking and gone back to that stupid karaoke machine did she speak, the disgust apparent on her face and in her tone of voice as she spoke to nobody in particular.
“What, that’s all? How cliche. If someone falls for this one, then you may color me surprised and irritated.”
Apparently her words had caught someone’s attention, as her eyes met with those of another. She raised an eyebrow at them, daring them to speak. When they did not speak up fast enough she did it for them. Honestly, was everyoneso slow on the uptake?
“Is there something you need from me? Or perhaps you were unsatisfied with my words just now? Please, do tell. It would do to hear the opinion of a peer now and again-perhaps you may change my way of thinking. So? What’s on your mind?”
Echo was taken by surprised at the sudden bluntness of the stranger's words, making her flinch slightly. When getting urged to speak her mind, Echo quickly blurted out the first thing she could think of.
"I-I was just wondering how you were doing m-miss!"
A distressed expression crossed her face before she shook her head and continued.
"Ah...well I was just thinking that...I don't think the motive will actually happen...? I mean...Monoshi-san does know a lot about us, but part of me believes that maybe he won't actually do it?"
Echo trailed off, playing with the stuffed white rabbit's ears as she gazed to the side where Monoshi was. She then looked up at Nahoko.
"We've never met before, have we? I'm Echo Nikos! I'm the Super High School Level Plush Maker. It's nice to meet you, miss."
As per usual to with new people, Echo did a small curtsey after her introduction.
ikanaide || abnormal days
You watch with varying degrees of amusement or exasperation as your two hosts proceed into one of the karaoke booths, Monoshi grabbing up a mic enthusiastically while Monoka continues almost to smile to herself while she retrieves her own.
“What song do you think we should do?”
“Uh…um…don’t mind me, but…didn’t you also have another announcement…? Isn’t…that why you called the others here…?”
Monoshi’s expression falls darkly, the conductor scratching his eyepatch before he turns back to the crowd as if he’d forgotten they were there.
“Oh, you’re right… hmm, hey! Monoka! Do you have a family?”
“Huh…? Um well…yes, I suppose I do…though I haven’t spoken to them in awhile.”
Looking as if he wasn’t really listening much, Monoshi nods thoughtfully and gestures with his mic.
“Yeah, that’s neat. Y’know, it’s been a while since anythin’ happened around here. I’m bored and all! So consider this, kiddos… I know you’ve got families and all. You’ve been away from ‘em a long time, too! …I mean, however long you’ve been on this train, wahaha! Anything could have happened in that time. The world’s a wild place, after all.”
The way he says this is rather ominous, as if he’s either not telling you everything or leaving you to take meaning from his words.
“Consider this, I said: If one of you kills, I’ll let y’know how your loved ones are doing. Any of ‘em you’d like, anywhere in the world. And if no one kills… well, let’s just say I’ve got ways to make sure they’re doing bad, wahaha!”
With that cheerily-delivered threat, Monoshi laughs again before turning back to the karaoke machine, chattering about song selections.
“…Oh…oh my…I…please don’t worry kids…I’m…um…sure they’ll be fine…! Yeah I…I’m sure…”
She looks down, seemingly dejected as her words trail off. Almost as if she were trying to change the subject or ignore it completely, going back to Monoshi and his ramblings with a hesitant smile.
one step ahead || abnormal days
It seems to have been quite a while since anything happened on the train– although, following the rather dramatic events of the previous murder and trial, anything would seem tame. Perhaps you were beginning to settle into a routine, bolstered by a lack of appearances from Monoshi aside from him lurking around the game room. There was a new gym to keep in shape in, and more importantly, a karaoke room!
Speaking of which, for the first time in quite a few days (or so you thought, but it was hard to keep track of time these days), the intercoms and screens around the train crackle to life. After a moment of what sounds like muffled conversation, Monoshi’s voice rings through loud and clear, as if the rather hapless conductor is holding a microphone too close to his mouth.
“Wahaha! Hey, everyone! Come meet me at the karaoke room, on the double! One-two, One-two!”
You swear you hear Monoka’s voice, saying something about him having an important question before the intercom shuts off. With that incredibly informative message, then’s as good a time as any to drag yourself up and head to the designated location– you knew what happened when Monoshi got annoyed, after all.
When you arrive, you find… quite an odd scene. Monoshi seems to be gesturing excitedly at the shorter Monoka, his hands waving as he explains, quite passionately… why she should do karaoke with him? Monoka, in turn, has a small smile on her face like she’s humoring a young child.
“Monoka, Monoka! You’ve gotta sing with me, ‘kay? I swear it’ll be a lot of fun! I know, like, all of these songs!”
“A-all of them…? Well…um…sure! I’d love to…! It’ll be…lots of fun, I’m uh…sure!”
Looking quite satisfied with her response, Monoshi bounces on the balls of his feet, giving the gathering crowd a wave before he grabs Monoka’s wrist and tows her into one of the booths. Was… this important enough to gather everyone around?

Hitorinbo Envy | Ch1 | Echo | Execution Reaction/Ch2 Start
Echo stared at the execution in shock. It was like a car crash, you just couldn’t look away. Despite the fact her eyes always remained shut, it was obvious she was horrified at what just happened. Seeing the the violinist(?) getting tortured in such a manner, and when his head had rolled into view of the screen was what had done it.
“Oh…oh no…o-oh god no…”
The plush maker fell to her knees, clutching onto her plush rabbit like her life depended on it as the words quietly slipped from her lips. She was trembling as thoughts ran in her head. They just sentenced a boy to death…she sentenced a boy to death by voting for him. That’s…that’s basically the same thing as killing him, right? Oh no…what would her dad think if he knew about this?! That is…if she was going to get out of here alive.
“S-S-Sorry…I-I’m sorry, F-Fujimaru-san…I’m so s-sorry…”

so dangerous || monotheater
Following the death of Endou, the room is quite silent. It seems that no one was really expecting that level of punishment– or if they were, they simply have no words to follow observing the death of a classmate right in front of you.
…Well, luckily Monoshi still seems to be in a good mood!
“Golly, wasn’t that excitin’! Can’t wait for the next one, uh-huh? Good job with your first trial, everyone! You’re all dismissed now, so go have fun! As an extra-special gift to you, I got Monoka-chan to unlock a few new cars! Wahoo!”
Wahoo indeed.
After he’s done with his speech, Monoshi moves to unlock the door to the room and holds it open for you to leave. What a gentleman. As you exit and go wherever your heart desires, your ID card lights up to signal an update.

ENDOU FUJIMARU HAS BEEN FOUND GUILTY!
COMMENCING EXECUTION …
Yes, it was true that the boy murdered Yelena Akiyama, but all actions come with reasons behind them. Whether it was the simplest one that would come to the minds of the other people in the courtroom– that he murdered Yelena due to the motive or that killing her was not what he planned– or ones that don’t even relate to the motive or anything mentioned previously, no one seemed interested to be hearing it. Nor is he able to utter a single word as the floor below him gives way, sending the boy into the deep dark void of nothingness below. Rather odd, considering the situation you were in, being on a moving train and all. Maybe all that happened was that the floors of the train gave way and he got splattered on the train track, yet…
…you heard nothing.
Without even allowing you to consider the myriad of conclusions of what happened to the boy, the courtroom suddenly goes pitch black and a mechanical ‘ding’ resonates throughout. Your eyes make their way to where Monoshi was standing, the television screen on the wall behind him showing nothing but static. The static dissipates and reveals the boy strapped into a wooden chair. Well, for those who were asking where he could have been, you now had your answer.
Many of you figured that the price for killing the girl was the boy’s (seemingly) permanent incarceration in that room, only shone on by a single spotlight, and all those who were heinous enough to take another’s life were soon to follow. Some of you let out a sigh of relief as you could ascertain the morbid words of your classmates were not true, while others were ready to march straight to Monoshi in order to obtain the location of that room and finish him off themselves. Or that was what could have happened, if the screen did not pan out and the boy was shown to be surrounded by large speakers.
Suffice to say it was a confusing sight… before a small tremor occurred enough for you to feel it. It occurred in a short rhythmic pattern before it became constant. It was not strong enough to be classified as an earthquake, so no one was particularly alarmed save for a few.
Your gazes continue to wander around before you notice the television screen 'fritzing’, and after a closer look you were able to put two and two together– that the tremors were caused by some sort of sound in an increasingly high volume. Though you may not be able to hear it, it seems the intended victim was able to.
What once was the sight of a boy, confused and scared of where he was, turned into a rather gruesome sight. His nails dug into the wooden arms and his eyes shut tight. If there were any sound from the television screen you would hear, alongside an extremely loud screeching, the boy screaming his lungs off. If that wasn’t enough, it seems the excessive sound caused his ear drums to burst, causing in blood trickling down from his ear holes onto his shirt.
The sight was not something normal, nor was something anybody wanted to bear witness to.
The tremors slowly died down and, by the looks of it, so did the volume of noise torturing the poor boy. Following that, the restraints magically loosened and the boy slowly stood up, breathing extremely heavily and shivering in fear. He might have caused death upon another but he felt so close to death it was….. horrible.
An eye for an eye….and a life for another.
Though you were unable to clearly see what exactly happened as you only caught a glimpse of a glittering light passing the screen…. you were not ready for the scene that followed.
The boy fell down……
And his head soon followed after.
ENDOU FUJIMARU, SHSL GOOD LUCK, HAS BEEN EXECUTED!

the world’s smallest violin || monotheater
Following the display of the vote totals on the TV screens, Monoshi claps his hands together happily and speaks up again.
“Yaaay! You got it! Endou Fujimaru murdered Nanami Momotani and her big mouth! Although, maybe that’s not what he was intending…”
He laughs childishly, returning to fiddle with the panel on the wall once more.
“Did you guys know he wasn’t even a violinist? Don’t you learn somethin’ new every day? Life sure is great! Well, anyway, y’all can talk or yell or whatever teenagers do while I get this sweet punishment all set up! Just a moment!”
THE VOTES ARE IN!

good grief || monotheater
After what seems like hours of debate, Monoshi finally speaks up from his spot by the door to the room. He claps his hands together loudly before waving them in the air to alert the argumentative class to his presence.
“Alright, kiddos, party’s over! No more votin’ allowed! Hands in the air!”
He laughs, waving his hands in the air before turning to fiddle with something on the wall.
“That was pretty excitin’ for a first time, huh? Well, you’ll need all the practice you can get. There’s more where that came from, after all! Ah-ha, here we go!”
Following Monoshi’s pleased exclamation, there’s a low grating noise before panels in the side walls of the room begin to move, pushing out before rotating to reveal large TV screens. As you watch, they turn on to reveal a very colorful display.
“Let’s count the votes, shall we?”
Echo places a vote for Endou
Sangara Bye Bye | Trial 1.4 | Re; Tarou, Endou
Echo’s faced had paled when the harbor man had proudly proclaimed that Nanami planned to kill her.
“H…How could you say that about Momotani-san?! E-even if whoever wrote this note faked their handwriting, Momotani-san’s writing was all curly and fancy! A-and…the only thing she had resembling paper was a planner Yelena-san showed me, it was a different material than the note!”
Oh no, now she was crying. Echo quieted down as she quickly tried to wipe her tears away and calm herself down as she found herself starting to breathe rather faster than she liked, especially after that outburst.
“I…I’m sorry, Tarou-san, I didn’t mean to yell at you. I…I just don’t believe Momotani-san was the one who wrote the note. I…think it was the culprit.”
Speaking of which, Echo turned her gaze to Endou.
“Um…if you’re wearing gloves, then there wouldn’t be any marks on your palms, then, yes? That’s…that’s just what I think at least, I haven’t tried pulling the wires myself. Sorry, Fujimaru-san…”
Drop Pop Candy | Trial 1.3 | Echo | Re; Ichigo, Masae, Tarou
Echo fidgeted in her spot. She wasn’t exactly sure what to say about…well…all of this. She looked at Ichigo worriedly as they showed their bandaged hands, but nodded in understanding as they explained why. Ah…someone else was adressing her, yeah? The…harbor guy?
“Well…the note didn’t specify if it was myself or Uda-san they were addressing…”
When he mentioned that Nanami (might) have saved her life, the plush maker’s face went a bit pale as she shifted uncomfortable from foot to foot.
“Even if she did save my life, I don’t think it was worth being brutally murdered in such a way…”
Oh no, here comes the tears. Echo rubbed her eyes with her rather long sleeves before she continued listening to everyone.
“A-Ah! I get it now…! The reason the culprit was hiding the wire is because it caused marks on your hands, which would be a dead giveaway that they did it! R…Right?”
The plush maker was so proud of herself that she figured something that probably everyone else in the room figured out a long time ago, although, she had suddenly began to grow quieter as she noticed that eyes were on her and she felt her confidence waver.
“U-Um…about the arsenic…I think…Momotani-san just walked in at the wrong time. Maybe the culprit left the kitchen to grab something from the storage or wherever that wire was from and when they came back, they saw Momotani-san. Panicked that she’ll figure out what they’re trying to do, they…they decided to kill her instead.”
Echo tugged nervously at the collar of her turtleneck as she continued.
“I’m…willing to bet that the thing that was supposed to ‘soothe my nerves’ was that glass of ginger ale…which was laced with arsenic…if I or Uda-san drank it, we would have become drowsy and confused; an easy target to kill…”
At Ichigo’s suggestion of a hand check, Echo obliged and rolled up her sleeves, sticking her hands out so they could see. Her hands were littered with various cuts and scratches, but they were all small and looked very old, almost hard to see if you don’t look close enough.
