♈︎: They may be rash and impulsive, but Arians actually have a lot of expectations when it comes to those they love. They expect the freedom to be their complete, authentic selves. They must be able to speak their minds forcefully, even if what they have to say is something that their lover doesn’t want to hear. They expect to be able to get angry and get over it quickly without their lover ever mentioning the experience again. Also, they expect honesty and passion from everyone at all times. When in a loving relationship, these expectation becomes magnified tenfold, and they won’t tolerate anything less than 100% of their lover’s attention and devotion. Aries doesn’t like it when their partners want to remain friends with former lovers. This is not because they’re jealous or necessarily possessive like Scorpios are, they’re simply self-centered in the expectation that they will be all their lover needs and wants. Aries are highly aware of how strong and brave one must be to get by in life, but they still have a childlike quality. A lover with a sense of humour or who looks at things in a unique way would be their best bet.
♉︎: A Taurus likes to set high standards, especially at the beginning of a relationship, but unlike Aries, their expectations, for the most part, are much more realistic. Their main concern is that their love be grounded in reality, and that they not become involved in some sort of superficial infatuation that won’t last. Because they have generally realistic expectations about romance, Taureans are seldom disappointed in love. They’re not into hookups, nor do they care for relationships based solely on lust and good times; they don’t expect any love affair that begins on that note to grow into anything deeper and more significant. Loyalty is the main thing for them in a relationship. They expect their ideas, desires, and dreams to be applauded and supported. Like all fixed signs, their ego must be appealed to; as such, they enjoy receiving sincere compliments on their appearance and accomplishments.
♊︎: The thing that most people don’t understand about Geminis is that they actually do feel emotions deeply, but most wouldn’t see or know this because of their inability to easily express love. This is becasue of their mercurial nature; they need to see that their personal freedom and personal space are being respected. Knowing that they can become too emotionally dependent on another person worries them. They are actually very sensitive, but only when it concerns their own hurt feelings. While communication excites Geminis, it’s very important to realize that words have to be chosen carefully and understanding has to be ensured in a relationship with them. Two people can hear the same words but interpret them in radically different ways. Silence and detachment turn them off because they interpret silence as a form of opposition and feel that they are being ignored. Geminis offer a myriad of shades to their personality, as though they are two or three different people, and this characteristic must be accepted by those who want to be close to them. Depending on who you are, their changeability can be flaky and annoying or exciting and interesting. The degree to which a Gemini is overwhelmed by confusing emotions will determine how warm or cool, or close or distant, they appear to be when it comes to their realtionships.
♋︎: The relationships of Cancers are, more or less, centered around issues of mothering and nurturing. They may be looking for someone to take care of them or may be repelled by anyone who needs to be taken care of in some way. It may be hard to find someone who shares a Cancer’s views on children and child rearing; even if the Cancer isn’t maternal/doesn’t want children themselves, they nevertheless have strong feelings about how children should be treated and/or raised. They’re traditionalists, and if their own upbringing was happy, they’ll use it as their model. More than any other sign, Cancers need to be supported, nurtured, and loved unconditionally. Cancerians are strong and capable people, but even so, they sometimes feel extremely vulnerable, so they need to know that they are with someone who loves, protects, and respects them and upon whom they can depend and feel safe with. As far as the kind of partner they need, it can go either one of two ways, depending on their upbringing: if theirs was a good and/or uneventful childhood, they’ll want someone who embodies the same loving, gentle qualities as they; if they had a difficult, dysfunctional or less-than-satisfactory upbringing, they may equate intensity, uncertainty, and even danger with passion and love. Those lucky enough to have a Cancer love interest are usually those seeking the best that life has to offer.
♌︎: Leos want a lover who enhances their own image and who enjoys being in the spotlight as much as they do. They want someone who they can shine together with. A Leo’s partner must be good-looking and have great taste, but they should never overshadow Leo, since a Leo always needs to be seen. They want someone who will place them on a pedestal and believe in their dreams wholeheartedly. As direct and off-putting as they can be, Leos surprisingly like good manners, expect to be treated like royalty, and need total commitment, faithfulness, and adoration from all of their loved ones, especially their significant other. Leos need to be shown in all ways that they are loved, not least of all through physical affection. Leo’s partner needs to have some sort of creative flair and must love entertaining. With the right partner, a Leo will rise in social status because then a Leo can truly display generosity, hospitality, enthusiasm, and persistence for excellence. Despite having a large ego, a Leo is actually dedicated to being the ideal partner, too.
♍︎: Virgos also have high expectations; they expect the same 100% level of devotion from their committed lover that they themselves give. But Virgos can ultimately become let down in their relationships with others, since not everyone is capable of demonstrating such devotion. They become disappointed their partners, in particular, for not reciprocating at an equal level and, as a result, they start to question the imbalance in the relationship. If Virgos accept things as they are—that they are able to give much more than others can—only then can they can return to giving 100% without reservation. Virgos have a highly developed sense of decency and loyalty that they expect their partners to respect and emulate. Most are take loyalty to their lover very seriously. Virgos can be a bit much because they expect to be nurtured and fussed over by their partners when they are feeling down. They also expect their feelings to be handled with the utmost sensitivity, whether or not they give that same sensitivity back to others. Last but not least, they expect their personal matters, especially their flaws, to be kept private. Virgos expect perfection, which is why it is not unusual for two Virgos to get together.
♎︎: Libras are like Cancers in the sense that if they are in a relationship, they need to be supported and cared for as well as admired and even exalted. Out of all the signs, Libras have the greatest potential of having the most positive relationships (both romantic and committed partnerships of all kinds) because they can put their feelings aside for the greater good of the relationship, but their intelligence and general good judge of character dictates that they’re not complete doormats. The thing with Libras is that they have a need to be in love and companionship is paramount in their lives. When entering a new relationship, Libras need to make sure their partner is someone who they like a lot and who is willing to wait awhile before moving the relationship to the physical stage. When a Libra finds that person, that easily becomes the most wonderful time in their lives. As social, witty, and charming as they are, faithfulness and loyalty are nonetheless essential to Libras. Togetherness may be important to Libra, but they also need someone who has their own separate interests, because it’s just as important for Libras to be free to get on with their work.
♏︎: Scorpios need passion and intensity and absolute and total fidelity in their relationships. Scorpios like to have their love affairs take on the appearance of a romance novel. As possessive and jealous as they are, Scorpios are very demonstrative, and make their lover feel very special. They expect and demand complete loyalty, and can be the most tender and passionate lover if they feel secure. They have a need to merge with others, and so Scorpios often rush into having a sexual relationship before they have any other kind of relationship. This dangerous habit it is usually the result of a desire for approval. Because emotional intimacy is so important to them, they sometimes make themselves believe that physical intimacy will suffice. Scorpios usually keep their feelings and thoughts to themselves, since they’re too deep for mere words. However, they won’t hesitate to make the right comment at the perfect time, especially if it deflates someone’s pompous ego (never mind that they themselves often have that same pompous ego). Scorpios have a need to test their lovers against the most extreme of hypothetical circumstances, and they need to work on this, because this can distract them from listening to advice that can help them become more well-rounded, and therefore powerful individuals.
♐︎: For a Sagittarian to feel secure in love, they need someone who shares their ideals, a sense of fun, love of ideas, and zest for life. They don’t have as many expectations; they just expect their lover to to be open-minded, to stimulate, to amuse, and to give her freedom of movement, not tie her down. Sagittarius won’t be attracted to someone who isn’t able to keep up with them and doesn’t share their desire to travel and explore. Sagittarians are loving and playful people and, shockingly, they actually make good parents. But, when all is said and done, they are risk takers and adventurers, and like Scorpios, they’re often attracted to danger in their love affairs. They want someone who enjoys spontaneity and who appreciates their honesty, courageous outbursts, and enthusiasm. They also need someone who doesn’t try to control them. Passion is important, but they also need to feel as if they are best friends with a lover. For them, as it is for Aquarians, friendship is the gateway to true personal intimacy and love.
♑︎: Capricorns are very serious, in love and in life. They are also cautious, and as such, are usually slow to make approaches and almost never flirt just for fun. For the most part, Capricorns are not inclined to have casual relationships. Even more than their shadow sign Cancers, they want to settle down and make a home and a family, to make a long-term commitment. To be in a relationship with a Capricorn, their partner must state the level of commitment clearly before any move is made toward living together, which, to a Capricorn, is either an arrangement of convenience, or tantamount to marriage. Capricorns expect fidelity and admiration. Love and relationships are also wrapped up with their work and career. If their lover isn’t successful, there will be problems in the relationship, since the Capricorn may feel the need to criticize or be competitive. The interesting thing about Capricorns is, as restrictive as their ruling planet Saturn is, they’re like Aquarians in the sense that they fear anyone who tries to impose any kind of discipline, limits, or structure. This, in turn, further limits number of people they could have a relationship with.
♒︎: An Aquarius expects total understanding and tolerance of their eccentricities, and they need their personal freedom of movement and action to be respected. Aquarians can surprisingly be completely loyal and faithful to their partners. They expect their partners to have an open door policy when it comes to their wide variety of friends from every walk of life. Both people in any relationship must feel free and independent. This may sound like a contradiction in terms, but people in successful relationships can tell you that they have actually found the freedom to be themselves fully through their relationships. An Aquarian’s life is filled with unexpected events that cause them, eventually, to feel liberated. These events disrupt the status quo in their lives and the lives of those they love. Being true to herself is a spiritual quest for an independent Aquarian thinker. The lover that can be supportive of the Aquarian’s goal to be true to themselves, will have a great relationship with them. Nothing is more enjoyable for an Aquarius than to be appreciated for who they really are. They believe that every relationship can change for the better. That is what makes Aquarians so attractive in the first place.
♓︎: Even more than Libra, Pisces is the most romantic sign of the zodiac. Once they’re in love, they’re very caring, sensitive, and ready to sacrifice their own happiness for the sake of those they love. Their willingness to accept what other signs would never put up with is the reason why they’re so popular in general, especially when it comes to love. However, they often use denial as a way of avoiding reality. Pisceans would rather convince themselves that their relationship is good than admit their problems. Forgiveness, maybe the most spiritual and powerful force in the universe, is their main strength and they can always be counted on for it, but they’re not above using it as a disguise for denial and weakness. Unlike the other two water signs, they have no shell to protect them, so their emotions lay wide open to alcohol, drugs, abuse, violence, or adultery. If such negativity is standing between a Pisces and the truly loving relationship that they dream of, then the onus is upon them not to put up with such dangerous and destructive forces.
