Part 4 <…> Part 6
“Put your arms around me.” He commanded as his calloused hands traveled down your sides, feeling your curves and pulling you towards him, his body trapping you between him and the wall. The narrow corridor that he cornered you in was illuminated with only a single candle that was burning concerningly fast, making it harder to distinguish his features.
Slowly, so very painfully slowly, he lifted your skirts, parting your thighs with his knee once you did what he asked. He buried his face in the crook of your neck right when his hands found your bare flesh and you gasped, arching and throwing your head back.
Ghost of a smile rested upon his face as if he found your reactions to be amusing. You were marvelously sensitive and so wonderfully soft all over that he could feel his control almost snapping then and there.
Mine, Oikawa wanted to scream. Mine, my Princess, my betrothed.
He stretched up and covered your mouth with his before forcing you to open your mouth with his thumb. When his tongue entered your mouth, you gave out a moan and lifted your hips towards him to get any friction to help with the ache between your legs.
Finally deciding to seize his torture, his left hand cupped your breast, massaging your nipples slowly and thoroughly while his right found the sensitive nub that was hidden between your folds, his long fingers pressing into it roughly.
You shuddered at the sensation, wanting more, needing more, and your legs almost gave out if not for the wall that you were leaning on.
“Tell me,” He said, sounding almost excited now “tell me how much you desire it, desire me. How much you need me…”
If you tried maybe, just maybe, you would be able to make a few coherent words, but the feeling that he was oh so graciously bestowing upon you left no room for a clear head. He seemed to know it too, as he did not expect an answer. His intention was to see how much he could wreck you, as he finally eased his index finger inside.
“Tell me how I am the best you ever had and the best you will ever have.” He sounded as if he was laughing now, adding a second finger once he thought you were wet and hot enough.
“The only one.” You whimpered “You are the only one.”
Anyone that decided to go to the west wing could stumble upon you two, the top of your gown open, ripped, and your breasts spilling while his hand disappeared between your legs. They would see how much he ruined the always prim and proper Princess, see the red marks all over your neck and how you were pulling him close for more. And somehow this thought ignited the passion inside you more.
Oikawa let out a silent laugh humorlessly. Could you not feel the eyes that were watching you? The eyes that bored between you two, not moving, not even breathing as to see how far you could take this.
When his hands stopped, and he met your eyes, the only thing you could say was a weak please.
“I will ruin you for other men.” He stated, “Tell me who you belong to.”

Your hands quickly found the buckle that was holding his entirely black attire together, opening it not quick enough for his liking. Getting on your knees without breaking the eye contact as he pressed on your shoulder lightly, you smiled sweetly at him.
“You. I belong to you.”
As you took him into your mouth, hollowing your cheeks and sucking surprisingly skillfully, he let out a satisfied sigh, before turning his head to look at the intruder at last.
Oikawa couldn’t move when he finally saw the face of the man you were kneeling in front of.
“Mine.” Kageyama mouthed with a devilish smirk as he watched him defiled his fiancé, before the candle finally gave out, plunging the room into darkness. Oikawa did not try to fight the shadows that crawled around and clung to him.
The first thing he thought when he woke up from that god awful nightmare was the fact that he was drenched in sweat. With a deep sigh he took his head between his hands and tried to even out his breath. It was strange, to be shaken up so badly by a dream revolving around the two people he despised the most in the entire world but here he was, on the verge of a panic attack.
Well, that was just not true. Not entirely at least, as he did not hate you, just resented the circumstances that brought the two of you together. Which is why he was overjoyed when the whole marriage idea was put on a shelf for a while.
If it was up to Tooru himself than he would have not taken a wife till he was old and gray, but he had a duty, against his country and his position, a responsibility. And so did you. You were there because it was your duty to be, for that he could not hate you.
So, he decided to create some sort of wall between the two of you, in order to make sure he could achieve what he had in his mind without you or any other getting in the way.
That idea, however, went down the drain the day Kageyama set foot at his home.
When he demanded he was there to talk to you, Oikawa’s first thought was that you were a spy. When he saw the confused expression on your face though, he was made sure that you were as clueless as he was about the reason for this sudden visit.
He smiled softly at the memory of you looking at Kageyama with the same distaste you showed at him daily.
You must not have been aware that you showed whatever you were thinking on your face for you were trained not to do so, he thought, but you were so quick to anger when it came to Oikawa. He liked it, seeing such an honest expression of emotions.
Maybe you could have been friends if you met as kids, or in different circumstances. Some sort of friend dynamic that relied on teasing and honest thoughts. But than again maybe not, if one were to remember what happened between him and Tobio.
They could have been considered friends once. A long time ago.
The life of a royal was a lonely one and who better to understand his position as a prince than another.
At least that’s what he thought a fresh faced Kageyama years ago. A boy that followed him around in his visits, thought of him as a mentor. Wanted to learn.
Too much.
All too much.
Before he betrayed Oikawa.
And on the eyes of some, Kageyama was better compared to him. A higher position, for now he was the King. A better economy in his far away Kingdom. A better swordsman.
A better lover, a better marriage candidate.
The fault for that last one fell entirely on Oikawa though, for he was the one that created his womanizer image. It had a purpose, one that he would not disclose easily, but still a mark against him.
So, when Kageyama came to visit his future bride, he was a tad bit disappointed.
Not surprised since he seemed to want everything that Tooru had, but disappointed at the thought that you might have been just another conquest in his eyes. He did not want to compete for a woman that he did not have feelings for, and he thought, to compete over you as if you were a possession would be an insult to you.
So why did he feel so possessive in his dream? Why did his mind scream the word mine over and over again?
Getting up from his bed and walking towards the window, he started to think about what might have been the reason behind such a strange notion.
Maybe the talk you had with Kageyama was to blame.
You were angry when he escorted you to the hall to meet the young King. Angry at him for being harsh and assuming you did something wrong or angry at Kageyama for summoning you in such a manner he did not know. But he could see how tense you were, and see the fire burning behind your eyes.
It made Tooru feel like laughing.
Until Kageyama took your hand from his, bowed, and asked for a walk.
Everyone knew it would be foolish to refuse a King for such a small request. So the only thing Oikawa could do was to tell you not to be late for you could catch a chill.
You took the lousy attempt of a suggestion with a grateful look, one you never showed him before, and went out the doors, leaving him behind.
It was the expression you had when you returned, however, was what shook him.
You were smiling. A genuine smile that he saw you show your brother. One that reached your eyes and transformed your face.
He was scared to ask what has transpired between the two of you. You beat him into it though.
“I would like to join you and King Tobio for dinner tonight rather than taking it up in my room, if that is alright with you.”
And you kept the same smile on your face when the three of you had dinner in a table entirely too long for his liking, with him and Kageyama situated on the opposite sides and you in the middle.
Oikawa was silent unless directly spoken to for the whole dinner while you two conversed about entirely unnecessary topics ranging from food to trade roots between the two countries, once even about poetry.
He did not know you enjoyed poetry. But then why would he.
The food left a bitter taste in his mouth.
The only reaction he showed that evening came when Kageyama offered to escort you back to your chambers.
“I will see to that duty.” He cleared his throat and put on an entirely fake smile that even a fool could see his distaste over the suggestion, “She is my fiancé after all.”
You kept smiling until you entered the hallway separating your new room that he had you moved once Kageyama arrived, and Tooru’s. And only when you two were alone that your face returned to a more neutral expression.
He wanted to know what you were thinking. What you thought of his guest and old acquaintance but for a reason that was a mystery to him, he could not seem to get himself to ask. You seemed to not desire to talk either.
Oikawa returned to the dining hall once he made sure you entered your room and he ordered the guard situated next to your door to get two more to stand watch with him tonight.
“She has a very kind disposition,” Kageyama said turning to him and leaning on his chair as he entered, “Very beautiful too. You are a lucky man to obtain such a match.”
“I believe I entertained your ridiculous charade enough for the evening Tobio. Why are you here?”
“To see an old friend?” he answered making it sound more like a question, “And to say how much I was saddened when I heard I got no invite to the wedding. She and I got along splendidly.”
“You won’t touch her.”
“Oh?” Kageyama raised is eyebrows at the remark “Even though she is not yours yet you sound quite possessive already.” Getting up and walking past Oikawa he made his way towards the guest wing, “A shame she does not share the same thoughts than. Goodnight old friend, I wish you pleasant dreams.”
“You are right.” Oikawa replied behind him, “She is not mine. Yet.”
But soon he thought. I will not let you take her like you took everything else. I won’t let you use another as a pawn in our game.
Not again.
I am sorry for the late update once again, I am quite sick.

Part 3 <…> Part 5
“I need you to write a letter to for me.” Oikawa bellowed, bursting into your room unannounced just before your afternoon tea, your first time seeing him since last week. He looked to be in a hurry despite the venom in his voice.
“Good morning to you too your Highness.” You replied eyeing the maids that were serving you the freshly made biscuits as you placed the book that you were skimming through on the table.
“Yes, well good morning.” He said finally realizing your company “Leave us when you are done.”
“You can’t just enter my room whenever you please.” You criticized once everyone was gone, closing the door behind them with hurried steps while giving you cheeky looks.
After the events that took place a week ago the rumors of your so called heated romance with Oikawa seemed to be known to all in the palace, from nobles at court to the kitchen maids.
When you were caught by a bunch of drunk royalty that night Oikawa quickly took you inside after asking them with his sweet voice and polite mask to not utter a word to anyone about what they have witnessed. Both of you knew, however, that the word would get out as soon as they returned to their rooms, the story flowing through the lips of their maids getting more and more exaggerated as it traveled.
He has been fuming when he escorted you back to your room, much to the horror of the guards situated in front of it, asking them to give you both a minute to say goodbye with a very convincing calm demeanor, as if everything was how it was supposed to be. Once he entered your room however, he started to berate you by using every word in dictionary possible to call you an idiot until you snapped and shouted that he was also trying to escape. That he was even more foolish if he thought he could run away as you were just a guest that could come up with a myriad of excuses while he was the prince of the entire nation.
Oikawa laughed at your face then and there, not letting you finish what you wanted to say. He admitted with a mocking tone that he was not running away but he was on his way to meet someone for the night, implying that a woman out there somewhere was definitely heart broken, waiting for him to warm her bed.
The disgustingly rude suggestion has been the last straw for you when your palm met his cheek in a flash, the loud sound echoing around the room, followed by a deafening silence. You regretted it as soon as happened, but it was too late to take it back. Oikawa did make you go mad whenever you seemed to find yourselves alone, but he would never touch you, so you should have showed him the same courtesy.
He left without saying anything else after that, his face red. At that time, you did not know that would be the last interaction you two would have for a while until they came to collect you in the morning.
The maids that came to dress you however did not bring the proper weeding attire with them, but news that would be your saving grace.
For a while at least.
King of Seijoh has taken ill the previous night after retiring to his bed and the court physicians did not know when he would get better, as it was a requiring event for the past few years which explained the reason that they were trying to find a match for the Crown Prince quickly.
The wedding was postponed until further notice much to the dismay of the guests and men of the cloth that were there to officiate it. But they had to bend to the will of the royal family. After all, if the King bedridden, and the Queen not leaving his side, how could they go ahead with it?
This new arrangement worked well for you. Not only were you relieved your foolish previous plan failed but you had a glimmer of hope in your heart that the wedding would be postponed for a long time or maybe even get cancelled. It would take the King to actually pass away for that though, and you could not wish that to anyone, not even Oikawa himself.
“One of the perks of being the Crown Prince, is that I get to do whatever I want without being questioned.” he finally replied as he took a seat in front of you “I need you to write a letter to your parents.”
“And what do you wish me to write in this letter your highness?” you questioned inspecting his face. He looked as if he has been running around with all the sweat gathered on his forehead and the blush that sat on his cheeks, which made you grimace as you were reminded of the night where you have tried to escape. He still looked incredibly attractive though, and for a second you wondered if he was doing another type of physical activity before he came to see you.
For some reason that thought made your sigh.
“Tell them that the King decided we should have an extended period of engagement. My sister had a similar experience so you can say it is some type of tradition.” He suggested “Also add that you will be considered a guest of the greatest honor here until the end of our engagement.”
You straightened up at the mention of the extended time “Is that actually true? Did the King actually tell you that or are you jesting?”
“He told me just a few minutes ago. I came directly after talking to him. Now write what I tell you but not another single word. I will be monitoring it.”
He made himself comfortable in the chair, taking off his gloves and fixing his hair as you took out your writing supplies.
“Is he okay?” you asked regarding his father as you began to write.
“As strong as an ox that old man. He will be up in no time.” He said, not taking his eyes away from the paper.
A tense silence followed your little exchange as you finished writing and melted the wax that was given. You weren’t sure if you should address the week prior or just leave it be and act like nothing happened. Your tight upbringing and the immense guilt you were feeling won however, and you finally looked him in the eyes as you gave him the sealed letter.
“I wanted to apologize.” You began “For hitting your face. I was consumed by anger. I should not have reacted like that. I truly am sorry. It won’t be happening ever again.”
He stared at your face for what felt like centuries with an unreadable expression before he nodded and took the paper away from your hands.
“Forgive my behavior that night. I seem to forget how ladies such as yourself have been brought up as I do not spend much time in their presence.” He tilted his head “Although I am most curious of the reason for your outburst. Was it because you were caught by me or that we seemed to be caught by others? Or was there another reason?”
“What other reason can there be?”
“The implication of another woman?” he asked. If his expression did not seem as if he were actually confused, you would think he was mocking you. Still, mocking or not his words still left you fuming.
“Don’t flatter yourself.” You scoffed standing up.
“On a different note, where were you planning on running away to that night Princess?” he followed you as he sprung on his feet “I remember Earl Lev boasting about getting to know you quite well at the ball, perhaps your little charade was related to that?”
An offended gasp left your lips before you could stop yourself. You were indeed introduced to the young Earl that day, through his sister. He was just like any other of his peers, an overconfident bachelor with a sizable wallet.
Now you did not know the man that well, but your impression was that he was quite ordinary in the way a noble could be. A little naïve, although not as much as his sister. He also seemed to have an immense dislike to the Crown Prince by the looks of the gazes exchanged that night, maybe the only thing you two had in common.
“I advise you to choose your next words carefully your Highness, else what you are implying may have grave consequences.”
He seemed to have found your threat amusing as he chuckled, finally moving towards the door.
“The words of others matter not mine. My advice for you would be to choose who you associate with carefully.” He said as he sent a glance towards you over his shoulder “Being apologetic does not suit you Princess. I would much rather have you angry.”
You pondered how your apology for your behavior turned into another argument between the two of you as he slammed the door behind him. But than again, every conversation you two had seemed to be nothing but arguments, and they expected you to spend your life with this man. You did not, however, understand what he meant by preferring you angry.
Sounds of the carriages woke you up the next morning, before your maids had a chance to. The nobles finally must have decided to leave for their homes, realizing it was a waste of time to wait for a wedding that did not seem to be happening any time soon. You saw Oikawa smile and talk with the leaving guests, playing the gracious host as you watched it all from your window.
Once all the guests departed, just as you were about to leave the windowsill, a black carriage with gold details entered the courtyard, drawn by equally black horses, supporting orange flags on both sides of its roof. Oikawa was long gone when the palace staff hurried to welcome the new visitor.
It was odd, you thought, for someone to arrive just as everyone else left, until the doors of the carriage opened, and then you couldn’t seem to think at all.
A tall young man with raven hair, dressed from head to toe in black clothing stepped outside in a single motion and fixed his posture. You saw head of the Privy council almost run out the palace doors to greet him which confused you even more.
Then the man looked up and caught your eyes behind the glass, and for a short while you could swear you stopped breathing, until his face twisted and a sinister, yet equally attractive smile crept up on his face.
“Leave the window!”
You jumped at the sudden voice of Oikawa and stepped back on what you would call pure reflex. When you stole another glimpse outside you saw the handsome stranger disappear behind the palace entrance.
“What is it that got you so anxious?” you asked as you drew the curtains once more, sending him an annoyed glance.
“We have a visitor.” He scolded “One that I was not made aware of his arrival.”
“I see.” You observed calmly “And if my understanding is correct, it seems you are uneasy about this guest?”
“You should be too.” He answered, “Do you honestly want me to believe that you don’t know who he is?”
“Am I to know every noble in your court?”
“No. But you should recognize the King of Southern Kingdom!” He hissed as he walked towards you with quick steps, dodging the furniture with a feline like grace “And you will tell me why he is here.”
“How do you expect me to know why he is here?” you fumed, a little frightened now that you knew who the mysterious man was “I never even met the man!”
He must have believed you as his features relaxed into a concerned state and he let out a sigh.
“Than please do pray tell why Kageyama Tobio is here, a month of travel away from his kingdom,” He continued “And asking to see you?”
I am sorry for the late update, I had midterms. I will try to update more regularly from now on!

Part 2 <…> Part 4
“Do you play cards your Highness?” the Mistress of the House, Countess of Webstier asked a few hours into the journey.
After a strenuous fifteen day ride up north you have finally arrived at the border that separated the two kingdoms, yours and Seijoh, at the first light of dawn.
When Tooru left two weeks into his arrival you were not given sufficient time to stomach the idea of your upcoming union with the rude prince before you were cast into a carriage with two of your ladies in waiting, chosen by the trusted council to spy on you no doubt, and sent on your marry way, followed by countless guards and staff.
You did not confide in them of course, for you could not. If you were to even say anything negative about the smallest thing, you knew they would carry it back. They already disliked you enough as it was, as to them you were a spoiled princess that did not appreciate her status and her wonderous fate. Oh, how they wished they were betrothed to such a fine man, the most desired bachelor in this part of the world no doubt, and they could not seem to stop talking about it.
The talks bordered on being completely inappropriate most the time, comments on his looks and his skills in different ways thrown out constantly, followed with giggles. So, you sat there silently, looking out the window and occasionally tasting the wine that seemed to be never ending.
The only time you had some peace and quite was when the others were asleep, but then again you gave up your own rest to be able to listen to your thoughts for a short while.
So, when the carriage doors opened at the border for your official handover you were quick to follow. And when they told you that your ladies could not come with you any further, you did not feel disappointed. They were never really your friends anyway.
You thought with the short time between your leave and your fiancé’s, you would have arrived at Seijoh around the same time, or maybe even caught up halfway. Against your expectations however, you were told that the Prince arrived at the kingdom a few days ago but travelled west to pay his respects to his late uncle who passed away three weeks prior when he was visiting your court, while you still had half a month to go.
It was because you traveled heavy with gifts and all the staff that accompanied you, the Countess said once you were introduced. She was an older woman with a stern tone and frown that never left her face. Her thin eyes looked as cold as the harsh winters that her nation was famous for. It was evident that she or any other woman that was assigned to accompany you to the palace did not approve of you. It was not their place to comment on it of course, but you could see it in their manners.
See that they thought you were a child when they took away your dark red dress that they said was behind the current style before dressing you in light blues inside a tent that was fashioned in the middle of the woods where the handover took place. You could see it when they put your hair in a tight bun that sat awkwardly against your face. When they tightened the corset to the point of taking your breath away. And you could see it when they put countless pearls and diamonds against your neck.
You thought you resembled one of your dolls that sat in your room back home with all the unnecessary display of wealth that were thrown on you.
“I’m afraid not.” You lied meeting her eyes “I prefer chess.”
“You must learn soon than. It is quite popular among the ladies at court.” She smiled cockily.
Just as you have crafted your false persona that of a naïve child back at your old home, you thought to continue the act in your new one. It also helped that when you robbed all of them on the card table from their money, they blamed it on luck. The first few times of course, as they would get used to it in no time just like they did in the past.
“Once we arrive you will be presented to the King first. You will not meet his Highness Prince Tooru for another week until the official ball to celebrate your engagement.” She said when you were two days away from your arrival at the palace.
They were using his first name, you pondered. You always made it a point to call him with his title, or simply as Oikawa, but his subjects did not deem it inappropriate to use his first name.
You knew there would be a difference between the cultures of two nations but the people at the Seijoh court seemed to be too unrestrained in their escapades as well as their morals. Although, it was a stark contrast to how they behaved towards you. This cleared the doubts that clouded your mind over the two-week journey from the border to the capital. They were cold to you because you were a foreigner.
This did not dampen your mood in the slightest. On the contrary, suddenly you were excited to be introduced to the court, a sly smirk forming on your face. You wanted to see the reaction the ladies would have when they learnt their beloved bachelor prince was now betrothed to an ignorant foreign girl. Would they be appalled? Angry? It made you giddy to anticipate their reaction.
On the last day of the ride however, right after the outskirts of the capital became visible to you, a plan formed in your head.
You would simply leave.
Bid your time until all the official appearances were over and done with and just leave. They certainly would not expect you to make an escape alone in a foreign land so you would use this as an opportunity. You had a week to learn your way around the palace.
Of course, it was never your intention to be gone forever. You knew better than trying your chances as a woman in the outside world all alone. It was to stall enough time until the wedding arrangement would be delayed. Where you would go however, was a topic that you needed to reflect more upon.
The solution though, came to your feet without you even trying, in the form of a ditzy little thing called Lady Alisa.
She was introduced to you at your arrival to the palace to accompany you till you were to be presented to your fiancé once more, this time formally. You were yet to be given your own ladies in waiting so they opted to bring a temporary solution with this tall and beautiful blonde.
“I live in our estate two-hour ride away from here towards the east, with my mother and my younger brother. Father passed away not long ago you see.” She rattled on as you walked through the corridors “My brother inherited the title after him. Now he goes by Earl Lev, I hope I can introduce you at the ball. But of course, you could visit our estate whenever you wanted to your Highness!”
You did not sense any malicious intent or lies behind her words. She simply was an innocent woman that did not understand that a Princess that were to be married in a weeks’ notice to the Crown Prince would never be able to visit her.
But you were thankful, as her innocence gave you the perfect escape. They would believe that you, a credulous girl, decided to pay a last-minute visit to her newfound friend who was as gullible as she was, to sooth the excitement that was to come. So, you played the part of a good friend.
When they found you, surely the wedding day would almost be over, and with all the guests on their way back home they would be forced to delay it for another month or two. They would never say that the princess was gone of course. Probably they would make up an excuse that would save them face. And you did not care for their reputation.
Just like how Oikawa did not care for yours when he insisted on being alone at the greenhouse.
You would leave the palace the night before your wedding by hiding from the watchful eye of the guards and take the carriage to the estate of Lady Alisa. Or at least that was the plan you made in haste.
You spent a week as a mere guest before your engagement was announced in a feast given in your honor on the seventh day, followed by a ball in which everyone who was anyone attended. That is when you were formally presented to Oikawa where you walked hand in hand to the floor where you had the first dance of the night.
“I remember you telling me that you would never marry me.” You whispered in his ear when you were sure no one else could hear “How sure you were of yourself.”
“The night is still young dear.” He replied, “Anything could happen.”
His answer sent a shiver down your spine, fearing he might have figured your scheme. But how could he when you never told anyone.
You were right about the reaction of others of course. Some ladies were left in tears when they were supposed to smile and clap right after the announcement. One even swooned! Although it was entertaining to watch you thought, tomorrow they could rejoice.
You were quite lucky to be given a room on third floor, not too high from the ground, and what is more right above the road that led to the stables. You waited until what you thought was a time that all the guests and the royal family went to bed to start your mischief.
You refused the maids that wanted to help you change out of your dress to your nightgown, saying you wanted to be left alone, after all when you appeared on Lady Alisa’s doorstep you had to look presentable.
Tying the linens around your bed together, once the palace engulfed in silence, you swung them over the open window in a desperate attempt. It was the only way to leave your room without the guards that were situated behind your door noticing.
Just when you wobbled your way down to the second floor, your arms shaking from carrying your weight, you were startled from a noise coming above you where others resided. It did not take long before a lengthy rope was tossed to the garden below. Shocked to silence over the possibility of being caught by palace guards you seized your movements.
Nothing, however, could prepare you for the eyes you caught as the person responsible for your concern made his way down to your level. He looked as terrified as you were when you came face to face, momentarily losing his balance before quickly gaining his posture by placing his feet on the walls, his hands gripping your sheets.
“What the hell do you think you are doing?” he hissed.
Apparently not only did Oikawa have similar feelings towards his soon to be wife as you did to him, but he also had the same idea on how to escape his current position, as he was trying to leave the castle in his nightgown by dangling himself out the windows of the tower to reach the stables.
Even though you wanted to answer him with a question of your own you could feel the strength leaving your body.
He must have seen your torment however as he started climbing down quickly.
“Try to come down slowly, I will catch you at the end.” He whispered as you tried to balance yourself over the wall.
“Bend your knees and let go.” He said once you were close enough “Do it now Princess.”
Silenced into submission over his kind voice you let go of the sheets only to be caught by strong arms followed by a grunting sound.
You took a deep breath when your feet touched the ground. Your newfound relief did not last long however as Oikawa caught your wrist in a bear like grip and turned your body around to face his.
“Now tell me you insufferable woman what do you think you are doing?” he spat lifting both your hands over your head, practically pinning you to the palace walls.
“What were you doing you bear of a man?” you gritted your teeth “Let me go you are hurting me!”
He opened his mouth to answer but was interrupted as both of your heads snapped right, towards the sound of a loud gasp that came just next to you, his hands quickly letting you go.
And there stood a group of twenty to thirty guests that were in attendance that day laughing and jeering while coming down the gardens, most probably from a walk to sober up.
“Love birds couldn’t wait till tomorrow evening!” a man yelled behind the group making you and Oikawa jump away from each other “To be young and in love!”
And that is how to both your horror, your entire plan crumbled to the pieces and the rumor that the naïve foreign Princess and the insatiable rake Prince Tooru were a love match started in a single night.

Chapter 1 <...> Chapter 3
You prided yourself in not expressing your thoughts or your emotions on your face and having full control over your body language. In this situation, you thought, it was certainly a blessing. You did not want this man to read your thoughts even though hawk like eyes of his that were focused on you made you think he could.
“A very beautiful garden indeed.” Oikawa remarked for a second time that night, his hand resting behind his back “We do not have this many varieties when it comes to plants up north. It is rather cold there, especially when compared to here.”
The ball was still going on inside the palace walls and the music that was filling the rooms still managed to reach your ears no matter how far in the gardens you went. You two were thrown out together after the first few minutes into the reception, suggested, or more like ordered, by both parties to take a walk in order to get to know one another. Followed by royal guards and an entourage of maids and butlers of course. Thankfully, other nobles that would usually be following you, such as your ladies in waiting, were not present thanks to the ongoing event inside. Never truly alone as it wouldn’t be proper. And you never did something that wasn’t proper. Or at least when someone else could see you.
“As you mentioned previously your Highness.” You replied looking ahead. It was not because you were scared that you did not look at him, or so you tried to lie to yourself, it was because you concluded from his rather rude entrance that afternoon that he disliked you. A man who had disgust and anger written on his face before just as he was supposed meet his future betrothed was not a man worth knowing.
He went as far as not to speak unless spoken to when your family decided to give him and his company a tour of the palace that afternoon, your father being absent of course. And even your normally chatty brother trailed hiding behind you, not daring to talk to him. Oikawa looked too broad, too much like a giant next to his sickly form. His hand never left his sword either. Did he not know what a grave insult he gave you when he behaved as if you were after his head, you wondered. You would not blame him of course, not like you did not know the strained relations between the two countries. But it was rude, nonetheless.
The only interaction you had that day before the ball was limited to greetings and if you counted it, walking next to each other in the halls. In the evening, a dance to open the ball. And that was it until now.
“Princess,” he started as you winced at the name, he did not even bother to use your proper title when addressing you “I heard you also had an exquisite greenhouse. Would you be so kind to show me? I am quite curious.”
You finally decided to look at him, fully expecting to see the previous icy expression on his face but found him to be surprisingly smiling. No, maybe not a smile but a smirk, you thought, the kind that gives you shivers and makes you speechless.
You were certainly not stupid. Nor blind. Since the first time you laid eyes on him that day, you knew that all those rumors about him were true. He had a face that looked like it was painted by the master artists of the past, an angelic feeling to it. He was also tall, towering over you or even the guards. The ladies gushed about how lucky you were and how regal he looked.
If only he did not have that God awful expression on his face when you first saw him, you would have been as starstruck as the Palace staff. It was evident that he made up his mind about you before he even met you. So why should you try to get to know him.
“It would be my pleasure.” you answered turning right towards the greenhouse. You have passed it once or twice every week in your walks but you were never allowed in when the gardeners were present.
He did not speak again until you both stopped at the gates of the glass building. That's when he turned towards the staff and the guards that were following you and addressed them with a voice so sweet that could catch vermin.
“If you could please give her Highness and me a few minutes to tour inside I would really appreciate it.”
It was such an inappropriate suggestion that you could feel your face getting hot with anger. You knew he was rude, but you did not expect him to behave with the manners of a dog. It was no secret that he had done countless things you did not dare voice with other ladies or even commoners in places that seemed innocent enough until he was left alone with them. But to taint the reputation of a royal with such suggestion was another thing.
One of the wives of a southern Duke even recalled one evening, after the announcement of his upcoming visit, that one of the most magical nights she had was at his library at his court, giggling while you sat at the same round table as her, playing cards not even a meter away. It made your stomach turn and not just because of the story, but because of the look she gave you afterwards. It reminded you of the smug look your father’s mistress gave you whenever your paths crossed.
You couldn’t stomach the thought of having a similar faith wherever you went.
One of the butlers, god bless his soul, opened his mouth to object but was quickly shut down by Oikawa’s honey voice.
“The path inside looks very narrow you see. And I am not used to being in such a humid and small space with too many people. I can promise you that we won’t take longer than five minutes.”
In hindsight they should have not let him get away with such proposition. But he was the crown prince of one of the strongest kingdoms in this part of the world and he was also to be your future husband. You were not betrothed yet officially but it was as good as done. If it wasn’t they would not even be invited here.
Or maybe, you should have refused his request or asked only two guards to follow you. But one look at his face and your curiosity was peaked. You wanted to know what he wanted to achieve with such a risqué favor. So, you followed the wolf to its den. If any of the nobles heard of this, or god forbid your family, you would be as good as dead. But you could always order your maids to keep their mouths shut. You could never trust anyone to not talk of course, but a threat could do the work.
“I am bit of a botanist myself.” Oikawa said just before the doors closed behind you.
You couldn’t properly see your surroundings as the only light inside came from the moon shining above the tall glass ceiling, and sadly it was not enough to illuminate your path. Oikawa on the other hand was behaving as if he owned the place itself, walking ahead of you, only turning once to check if you were still following him.
“Though it is mostly a hobby.” He continued, finally stopping in front of a cactus like plant with lovely white flowers and turning to you.
“I am guessing you did not ask to come here alone just to talk about your botanical knowledge. What is it that you want to know?” You asked with a cold tone just as your eyes started to adjust to the dark setting.
The corners of his mouth lifted into what could be called one of the most sinister similes you have seen so far before he chuckled.
“I’ve been told you had a kind and warm disposition but that you are very naïve and certainly not very bright.” He said seizing you up.
You knew of your reputation. What other people did not know, however, was that this reputation of yours was created by non-other than you. Carefully thought of and highly fabricated. The life was easier when people did not expect much from you. It also made it easier to listen in on conversations. Afterall, they did not think you would understand or care. But something about Oikawa aggravated you so much that your delicately built facade crumbled into pieces in seconds.
“And I’ve been told you are a very handsome, intelligent and proper gentleman. What a shame we’ve been both lied to.” You replied before taking a step towards him as if to challenge.
He let out the first genuine laugh since his arrival at your rebuttal, his head tilting back. If it were any other person, they would be insulted at your words, but he seemed to be amused.
“What a shame indeed.” He answered also stepping towards you. “Truly disappointing.”
“Is it what you wanted? A naïve, dull and ignorant wife?”
“Is it important what I want?” he pondered crossing his arms.
“A submissive wife than.” You replied “Let me rephrase that. You needed a submissive and naive wife. For what reason may I ask?”
He acted as if he did not hear your question, opting to not even acknowledge it “If we are to come back to the topic at hand, you are right your highness. I wanted to come here alone to see your true character. I know firsthand how exhausting it is to play pretend with others around.”
“And what did you find?”
“That you are very spirited.” He said moving closer.
“Thank you.”
“That was not a compliment Princess.” He stopped a step away from you.
“Anything you deem disappointing in a woman is a compliment to me.” You replied closing the distance between you two, your bodies only inches apart. He seemed to be taken aback for a second before his eyes narrowed and he turned his head towards the plant you were standing next to.
“Selenicereus grandifloras.” He sighed.
“Huh?” the unladylike sound left your mouth over your confusion before you could stop yourself.
“It is also known as the ‘queen of the night’ for it only blooms once every year at night before its petals wither before the morning. We must be extremely lucky.” He elaborated tilting his head towards the fully blossomed flowers. “Even the most beautiful and spirited of flowers cowers when the light shines. Do tell Princess, where will you be once the morning comes?”
He inched towards you, bending down until his face was directly opposite of yours. It was the most indecent position and against your better judgement you were at a loss of words over it. The humidity inside felt ten times worse than it was as you could feel his hot breath on your face. He was so close that you could smell the soft leather, citrus and cinnamon in which you did not know if it was coming from him or from all the greenery around you. Only thing you could think was one wrong move and your noses would be touching. He seemed to be thinking the same as his gaze fell on your lips before he took a step back.
“Because I do not know where you will be your Highness, but I can tell you where you won’t be.” He scoffed “You won’t ever be standing next to me. You certainly won’t do.”
Turning his back, leaving you stunned and stuck he walked towards the path you took just a few minutes ago.
“I can tell you this with the uttermost confidence. You will never rule beside me. I will never marry you.”
And with that, he was gone.
Finally an interaction? Reblogs are appreciated! And also this was not edited I posted it right after writing it so if you see any mistake let me know.

Read Prologue first <...> Chapter 2
August 5th
The first messengers arrived when you were having afternoon tea with your literature instructor in the gardens of your summer residence, as your brother was practicing his sword skills not too far. A maid sent by your mother brought you the news of their negotiation a few hours later, accompanied by some of the strawberry macarons you loved so much.
If it were up to you, you would refuse such a ridiculous offer even before it was brought to your attention. Now that they had a male heir to the throne however, there was no use of a girl that had no claim to become the future ruler, other than being sent to create diplomatic relations now that you were over twenty summers.
“Where do you think they are from?” your brother asked as he tried to dust off his clothes, quite tired from following the orders of his practice partner all day long.
“I wouldn’t know, I didn’t see any flags with them.” you continued as he looked disappointed “But they were wearing blue, so at least we know it's not from the south.”
He nodded; his eyes wide with worry “I am glad they are not sending you there.”
“No one is sending me anywhere yet Hiro.” you answered quite annoyed, turning your head sharply to glare at the boy.
It was not his fault per see but him being recognized as the heir has left you in an awkward situation for the past twelve years. You loved your brother dearly, unlike the distant relationship you had with your parents. It was not because you had the ambition to rule the kingdom either. Of course, it was unfair as you were the firstborn, and if not for what was between your legs, you would also have been the one to inherit the crown.
Even if that was so, you simply did not find it in yourself to become a leader. You, however, did wish to be able to shape your own future. One that did not involve fulfilling the selfish wishes of others.
“It would be awfully lonely without you.” he sighed, instantly making you feel guilty for sounding a little bit too harsh.
Hiro looked incredibly small for his age, standing there with his shoulders slouched, fingers flicking, a skinny and sickly kid since the day he was born. He took after your father with his dark hair and almost pitch-black eyes, but with your mother's facial features, a contrast to your own looks that bore no resemblance to any of them, another reason for your alienation from the rest of the family.
“And it would be awfully quiet without you.” you teased “Maybe then I would be able to read in peace.”
Several footsteps coming behind you silenced you both before Hiro could retort, cutting the joyful air and replacing it with a heavy feeling.
Your mother was a beautiful woman that much was true, but in a different way to that of her kids. The Queen had extremely sharp features and her painted lips always supported a displeased frown. She acted as her title suggested, prim and proper, she fit her role perfectly.
Renowned for her charm when she was younger, she did not lose much to the ages if not for the wrinkles next to her keen eyes and the white threads on her hair. Likewise, she was as smart as she was alluring. Coming from a family that lost their wealth a long time ago even though they still supported titles, no one would even dream of her being second to the sole ruler of their beloved country. She was a success-driven woman, which made her a threat in the eyes of many in the court, thus she was not given the right to make a decision when it came to the education of the heirs she produced. Although affectionate towards her kids first, she had no say on the time she had with them, causing their family ties to weaken, and mostly spent her time with foreign ambassadors. A responsibility entrusted upon her by her husband.
“I see you received my message.” she declared not looking at you directly “We will talk more about this after our guests leave. For now, I want both of you to go to your rooms and stay there until dinner.”
You could sense the irritation in her voice. It was not for her kids, however, as you could see the dark circles under her eyes, a sign of her losing sleep for the past few days.
“Won’t we meet our guests?” Hiro questioned before you could.
“It is not needed as they are only messengers.” the Queen answered shortly before continuing her walk towards the main hall, her maids trailing behind. “I will see you two in an hour.”
Leaving your brother behind, you decided to head down towards the observatory. You knew that you would get an earful from your maids later for not changing your garments for the dinner, but your head was filled with too many questions and negative possibilities to care about dresses. It was not as if you did not know that this day would come. It even took longer than expected if all things considered. Most in your position would be engaged before they even stopped using diapers. It was a more political alliance than anything else, decided by the respective kingdoms and the advisors.
You even saw the letters that were exchanged since last year with multiple seals supporting different coat of arms. The council of your father must have declined the offers before this. Not for your sake, at least you didn’t think it was, but for not suiting their taste. It was a big deal for the princess of a country, whether being the heir or not, to marry someone as it reassured the ties you would create.
The only positive thing that happened so far was the fact that you would not be sent to the south. The Southern Kingdom was placed across the sea and was an important trade partner to your own.
It was a wealthy country for sure, but also too grim and the people too wild. Other than the traded goods it wasn’t a traveller-friendly country. They kept to themselves and even though the only thing that separated the two port kingdoms was a narrow sea, they had a vastly different culture. These differences resulted in legends and the rumors about the country becoming more and more outrageous over time.
They called their men barbaric, only interested in hunt and the art of war. Their women proclaimed witches, quite beautiful unlike the stereotype, but worshippers of a different God. All just foolish rumors said your history instructor. He was a wise man that travelled a lot when he was younger and according to him these tales were nonsense. Their folk did not originate there but immigrated over a few centuries ago. He taught you that the people of the Southern Kingdom were that of culture and arts. They just did not like intruders. His words didn’t ease your or Hiro’s heart however as you were fed these tales since you were younger.
If you could find a way to escape from this responsibility you would. Yet, since the first time you sensed what was going on you were looking for an answer, just to be disappointed every time.
The dinner was cold and tasteless even though it was made from the best ingredients one could manage to find. “The lady that makes them must hate her occupation with a passion” claimed your brother when you were dismissed “I can’t understand how mother likes it.”
Once again, the King did not join you at the table. It was always the same excuse, politics, responsibilities. But you knew better. You knew why your parents did not share a bed anymore and you could see the looks women of the court gave to your father. It was not because the King was a good-looking man, quite the opposite in fact, but power attracted people.
You were fully grown now and even when you were younger, you knew what these actions indicated. You even had the most unfortunate memory of seeing one of them, who was not much older than you, leaving your father's chamber looking quite flushed. You would have not cared if only the woman did not give you a curtsy while supporting a smirk.
Lady Winna was her real name, daughter of a lord that was close to the King, nicknamed Lady Whore by you. And most of the time, she was the reason your father would skip the meals altogether only to receive a feast in his room later that night. Which was why you knew that you should never hope for a love match. If lucky you could maybe be friends with your future partner.
“She does not hate her job, she hates her life” you replied “Not that it would matter, she will leave soon. I heard she was pregnant with a lord’s child. A married one on top of that.”
Hiro gasped “What if someone were to hear you talking about these rumors” he exclaimed hitting your arm quite forcefully “you could be punished.”
“Don’t act as if you never say such stuff you little bridge troll. I know how you talk behind your instructors.” you mused rubbing the pain off. “And who will punish a princess I ask you? If not for mother or father?”
“Do I need to know what I should punish you for?”
Both you and Hiro jumped at the unexpected voice of the Queen, a gasp leaving your mouths. She was holding a box in her hand and her face was supporting a rare, serene expression.
“Nothing of importance.” replied Hiro quickly “We were just afraid of falling behind our studies.”
The Queen did not seem convinced as her eyes narrowed, but she had a small genuine smile on. “I see. Why don’t you go on ahead and start your nightly studies then? I need to talk to your sister privately in the meantime.”
Hiro let out a snort that he tried to cover with a cough. You are in trouble he mouthed before bowing to your mother and disappearing through the corridor.
“I would like you to know I was just repeating what the ladies in the court were saying. Not that I believe the rumors of course, it is quite indecent.” you tried to explain quickly but the Queen cut you with a shake of her head.
“That is not why I wanted to talk to you dear. It is however quite incident for a lady to talk that way you are right.” she sighed “Why don’t we talk in my study?”
You knew what was coming now, after all you could not remember the last time you had a conversation with your mother alone, the relaxed expression on her face, however, gave you hope. Maybe, you thought, they decided it was not time yet. Or maybe they did not like the offers that came through.
“Close the door, will you?” she asked walking towards the desk that stood before the bookshelves that covered the walls.
“Where are your attendants?” you questioned as you followed her inside “Is there something wrong?”
“I thought you would be more comfortable if it were just the two of us that’s all. I need to show you something.” She answered motioning towards the box she was holding. “It came this morning. For you of course. Go on, open it.”
The box itself was made from heavy oak, painted black with a family crest carved on top of it. The symbol looked familiar enough, but you could not concentrate enough to remember where you knew it from over the heavy beating of your heart. Opening it cautiously you took a sharp breath between your teeth, observing the contents.
Inside stood a tiara that was made from white gems shaped in intricate designs that you have not encountered before and in the middle stood an icy blue diamond so big that you could have sworn it must have cost the yearly earnings of a whole country.
“Not a ring.” You stated matter of factly “A very bold choice for a gift.”
“Indeed. But you cannot expect less from Seijoh.” Your mother replied with a cautious voice, almost as if she was calculating your reaction.
“Seijoh…” the box cluttered on the table as you let go of it abruptly “You are sending me up north? We waged war against them for years! Even before my grandfather! And now you are sending me there?”
You knew the country itself was wealthy enough and that it had a strong military presence. They had many allies within the countries that bordered yours as well. But they also claimed right on your countries throne by sighting territorial dispute as well as a marriage between the two countries that produced no heir.
Now they were sending you there as a scapegoat. To secure his claim to the throne. And maybe even to theirs. An eye for an eye.
It took another week for your father to send a response and invite the Crown Prince and the King of Seijoh for a short visit before the decision was finalized and another two for them to arrive on the outskirts of your kingdom with their entourage behind.
As you sat in your suite biting your nails and waiting for their arrival, your maids were going in and out with different dresses in their hands looking for your approval. You on the other hand did not have the mental energy to entertain their ideas. It was bad enough that you had to attend a ball given in their honor that very evening, but you also had to be in the throne room soon enough to welcome them into the castle. Not to mention this would be the first time that you were to meet your possible future husband.
You heard of him before of course. How could you not when his reputation preceded him? A very cunning and ambitious young man, yet it was his looks that brought the most gossip. You heard his name whispered among the staff when they did not know you were listening and heard the ladies giggle when they mentioned the time that they spent in their court, with him.
It was enough to leave a sour taste in your mouth. Was it too much to ask that your future partner was a man of intelligence and few words? At least you would know that you could get along with him then. But a sharp and striking Casanova? They had to be jesting. That was the only possible explanation for this mockery.
As if your fathers’ ridiculous behaviors wasn’t enough now you had to entertain another man like him. It was pretty common for monarchs to take on other lovers, but you would not be embarrassed by a man you did not know in your own house, husband or not.
When you finally entered the throne room you could hear the commotion outside caused by non-other than the infamous man that was plaguing your thoughts for the past week. Your mother motioned you to hurry and take your place with a sudden turn of her chin just before the doors opened.
The rumors did not do him justice you thought as he strutted towards you and your family, your breath caught in your throat.
Oikawa Tooru was without a doubt the most beautiful man you ever laid eyes on.
He was beautiful alright.
And with his charming eyes staring straight at your own and his delicate hands placed on his sword, he looked ready to murder.

>Chapter 1
October 20th
The idea came to you early in the morning, on the last day of a month-long journey that should have been completed only after fifteen days. Given the fact that your chances were limited, you decided to take action that fated evening, right after the beautiful feast given to celebrate your arrival, where your maid dressed you in light blues and purples to your dismay, making you look like an unsophisticated and naive child. At least you reasoned, even if they caught you or forced you, this idea of yours could make things more difficult for everyone or even better, delay the inevitable.
Life, being as unfair as it was, did not give one the opportunity to choose what they will be born into. Regarding human nature, many wished either to be given or obtain wealth, power through any means or even just a title. As your whole body shook like a leaf however, you thought that you could give up all those in exchange for athletic ability. The fine linens that you were hanging from blended with the walls of the palace. For once, you thought, you were lucky enough to be left alone in your third-floor bedroom, this cold autumn night, since you stepped into the foreign land.
Rose colored room, filled with a rich odor of sweet alyssums, was given to you to be used for the duration of your stay stayed as a guest by the grace of the owners. Nothing, however, could prepare you for the eyes you caught as the person responsible for your concern made his way down to your level. He looked as terrified as you were when you came face to face, momentarily losing his balance before quickly gaining his posture by placing his feet on the walls, his hands gripping both of your sheets. Staring at you with uneasy eyes that made him look younger than he is, was the man you despised more than anyone else in this part of the world.
Apparently not only having similar feelings towards his soon to be wife, but also having the same idea on how to escape his current position, trying to leave the castle in his nightgown by dangling himself out the windows of the tower to reach the stables, was the first son of the king of this forsaken country and as promised between your kingdoms, your future husband, Oikawa Tooru.
