A few moons back on this very day (1st May 2010) I got a phone call from my mentor and editor over at Alexandria publications (home to my favourite translated philosophers and poets) that my book "Music for Shipwrecks" was going to be published on 9th July 2010. I will never forget this day or this feeling. Since then, lots has changed and two years later with just one bag and my synth I came to England to continue pursuing my music and writing dreams. Notepads covered in lyrics and poems, an unfinished book of philosophical essays, three plays and a lot of sheet music I can safely say that it has been a crazy ride that my 16yo self wouldn't possibly imagine. Life is beautiful and unpredictable and we are lucky to be alive and able to dream with no boundaries or limits. Missing my bees already. Post Greece I'm covered in scratches, bruises and my fingers look much rougher from working on the land. There's no shortcuts in nature which is a powerful lesson for life in general. Patience is also key. From seed to blossom and from blossom to honey; the circle is unending and divine. For some reason I think that all these experiences will be a guide in my music and how I write from now on. There's a new chapter ahead of me musically and I'm excited to explore it. It has been a tough and challenging year doing things on my own with no help and went through a lot of changes, but now powered and revitalised by the love of my family, friends and nature I'm more than ready to face it all again. I'm so lucky to be able to hear, see, smell, taste and touch things the way I do and I'm sure most of you beautiful souls out there feel the same way about yourselves. I was thinking about creating a little collective where we could go to forests or parks, meditate and bring our instruments and/or voices and play music together. If it's something that resonates with you please DM me and we can start organising something for this weekend or the next. You don't have to be a professional; just feel and respect the vibes that come through nature, music and others around you; and love - there's nothing to be done without it. A walk through the olive trees... We woke up early today to tend the olives. We picked some more wild herbs and made some tea to keep us warm whilst we worked. I'm covered in scratches now from cutting milk thistles but it was totally worth it as now the trees look healthier and happier. Days in the countryside are slow, soft and mellow; a bit like the weather today. You wake up early and you sleep early here. Early yoga and meditation helps me wake up properly and fine-tunes my body allowing me to work hard at the olive trees. Harvest season is around late October but there's so much work to be done beforehand. These ancient trees have so much wisdom in them and every time I'm here I learn a different lesson. I hope you all beautiful people out there have a great time too. I'll be back home in London on Thursday. Let's plan forest excursions, write music, words and take pictures. The more, the merrier.
