The young man's voice came out in a low tone, his breathing ragged, aware of the effect of his words; you didn't know this boy, but he seemed to know you perfectly well. You could see a knife in his hand; he was offering it to you.

Hound takes a cautious step back, his expression warped into something almost disgusted. This young man was a perfect stranger, and yet... Well, he certainly seemed to know who Hound was.

Who he really was, beneath the muscles and the gruff behavior... But how much could he really know? And why did his mere presence have the fur at the back of his neck standing on end?

Something about this person was off. The almost manic tone of his voice spoke of someone unstable, to put it mildly. And his words... Talk of pain and memories... Hound suppressed a shudder. Try as he might to ignore it, the glint of the blade in the young man's hand brought Hound back to his past in an instant.

The basement, the torture, the agony, that awful man.

"I don't know who you are," Hound growled from between clenched teeth. "But if you think you can threaten me like this, you've got another thing coming."

The bloodhound's lip curled, sharp canines on display, ears pinned back, hackles raised. A warning, though the way his tail was tucked between his legs was hard to ignore.

Bones had a smile of excitement, no, more than that. The man showing real discomfort and even fear towards him stirred something inside Bones. He was aware of the effect he was having on this man, and he was loving every moment of it.

Threaten you? Oh, no, not at all, Hound. Didn't you realize something?

Bones approached with slow steps, as if he were dealing with a dangerous dog, while the knife in his hand waited patiently for the danger that was coming. When he was just centimeters away from the man, he brought his face closer, feeling the warmth of Hound's face.

You are the threat, right now you have so much power in your hands, don't you love that?

With a swift hand, he placed the knife inches from the man's neck, grazing Hound's bruised skin, Bones' expression now showing obvious satisfaction at this.

I'm not just a stranger, I'm Bones...but I don't feel like my name matters much, you're about to kill me after all.

Bones' voice was soft, sweet even with the words he was now pronouncing. The hand gripping the blade tightened around the handle, now lowering the blade until it reached the man's trembling hand, he positioned the weapon in Hound's fist, He was giving him the answer in his own words in a simple and generous act.

Every step closer the young man took heightened the feeling of unease that gripped Hound's chest in a tightly clenched fist. The Bloodhound could practically feel the mania rolling off of Bones in waves, their sudden proximity making his skin crawl. Too close, too much-

Hound's blood turned to ice in his veins as the young man spoke, the brief chill of the blade against the delicate skin of his neck sending another ripple of unease through his body. He was the threat? What the hell was this kid going on about?

Still reeling from the contrast between Bones' words and actions, Hound barely registered those sweetly whispered words, the handle of the knife being pushed into his hand.

"What are you- what the hell are you talking about?" Hound replied, his voice choked by the panic that swirled in his gut. "You... You want me to kill you?"

There was something seriously wrong with this boy. Something uncanny, something dangerous.

He needed to get himself together, now, before he got himself hurt.

Shaking his head to clear it, Hound gripped the handle of the blade and pulled it away from Bones. At least now he couldn't take it from him...

"Listen to me, kid. I don't know what you thought you were hoping to accomplish with this stunt," The beastkin reached out to firmly grip Bones' upper arm. "...but I think it's time for you to leave."

The older man's voice echoed in the younger man's ears, With an expression of surprise at his words, it spontaneously changed to one of emotion, even excitement; he bit his lower lip with clear firmness.

You still don't understand... Can't you see it?

Bones' voice was soft, with an intention to bring calm, while with his free hand he grabbed the older man's wrist, bringing that hand that held the blade closer to his stomach.

You're in control, you're the killer now.

This time his voice was inches from the older man's face, well, as close as he could reach since the man was clearly taller, and perhaps stronger.

I'm not going anywhere, don't worry. There's something about your cute little puppy head that tells me you were waiting for me...

Still with his hand firmly on the taller man's wrist, he brought the blade dangerously close, centimeters from his stomach, searching for that hint of pain, that sweet unease in the older man; he was dangerous, perhaps more dangerous than for the poor "dog"

Hound yanked the blade away once more, the hand that had been gripping Bones' arm finally releasing its grasp only to swiftly rise to wrap around the young man's throat. His grip was firm, not enough to cut off Bones' air supply but certainly enough that the threat was known.

Bones' back hit the wall roughly, hard enough to force the air from his lungs.

"I ain't interested in playing these games with you, kid."

Hound growled low, his face inches from Bones', eyes alight with barely contained anger. Anger and fear were closely related, after all, and Hound was far from a stranger to lashing out in situations like these.

Fingers flexed, closing tighter around Bones's throat by a fraction. He was still holding himself back, hesitating, unsure how far to push. Foolish, truly, to believe he was above harming this strange young man simply for stoking the smoldering embers of his temper.

"Now I'm gonna ask you a question, and you damn well better answer, you hear me?" Hound's voice was low, tone measured. The undercurrent of fear and confusion remained despite his show of force. "How do you know who I am? And how the hell did you find me?"

The first thing...? I guess that'd be washing my face. I don't really know why, but it helps wake me up and get me moving. It's good to have a routine, right?

It takes a few moments before he's able to compose himself again.

My family, huh?

Hound hums thoughtfully.

Been a good while since I've seen 'em. Too long.

A brief moment passes, a flicker of sadness, before the mask rights itself again.

I uh... I grew up in a pretty big pack, I guess. Group of bloodhound families living off the bayou. It just made sense to stick together, y'know? Help each other.

Mentioned it before, but there were seven of us in that house with my parents. We were always getting into some sort of trouble, usually something my older siblings dragged me into 'cause Mama just couldn't stay mad at me when we got caught.

He laughs softly, fond memories of childhood escapades replaying in his mind.

We gave my poor mama hell, but she loved us anyway. My old man did too, in his own way. You know how dads can be.

Another pause. Seems he's realized he's rambling, if the light flush tinting his cheeks is any indication.

...Anyways. I have a big family, and we had a real close-knit community to help us get by. Ain't much more to say about it.

It depends, really... Some smells I've gotten used to and can tune out. I'll say it does come in handy if I need to find someone, though. It's my nature to follow scent trails after all, ain't it?

But I can say for sure that strong scented things like... I dunno... Candles, soaps, perfumes and things like that can definitely be overwhelming.
