Toyota Discontinues 2.8-Litre Diesel Unit On Innova Crysta, No BS6 Update
Toyota Kirloskar Motor doesn’t plan to upgrade 2.8 diesel for good.
Naveen Soni, Senior VP (Sales & Service) of Toyota Kirloskar Motor confirmed the latest development with the reason for the discontinuation of the 2.8-litre diesel unit. Check below, what he said:
“ Customer choices and preferences for the Innova Crysta were greatly inclined towards the 2.4-litre diesel, and we decided to rationalise the engine options, so the 2.8-litre diesel is for the Fortuner, and the 2.4-litre diesel is for the Innova Crysta.”

Apart from this change, the Japanese carmaker Toyota is planning to launch the new facelifted version of the Toyota Innova Crysta soon. All new Innova Crysta will get a complete makeover for both inside and outside, to give it a complete fresh look.

New Innova Crysta Exterior
Some minor tweaks are expected on the 2020 Toyota Innova facelift exterior which includes a revised bumper set with LED headlamps integrated on the front and back side.
A new Toyota Innova radiator grill with two chrome-plated slats is likely to support by new Innova which will include a new set of fog lamps and alloy wheels.
New Innova Crysta Interior
Talking about inside cosmetic upgrades, 2020 Toyota Innova Crysta will get an updated touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A few more tweaks to the interior are also expected in the new Innova Crysta Interior in order to ramp up its comfort quotient.
Based on the company’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, the 2020 Toyota Innova facelift will feature the same BS-VI compliant 2.4L diesel (capable of generating 148hp@343Nm of peak torque) and 2.7L petrol engines (capable of generating 164hp@245Nm of torque).
There is no date of its launch announced officially as of now. It is expected that the facelifted version of the new 2020 Toyota Innova Crysta will reach the Indian market by the end of this year.
On the basis of the price ranges of the current models of the 2020 Innova Crysta - Petrol variant comes in the price range between Rs 15 lakh – Rs 23 lakh and the Diesel variants price range between Rs 16 lakh - Rs 23 lakh, it is expected that the facelifted version to see a hike of up to Rs 50,000 – Rs 60,000 easily.
