ANTISOCIAL by Mike Campau
“Social Media is starting to get some pull back, and rightfully so. Each platform has it’s own problems, but all have had a large impact on society as a whole, both good and bad. Each image takes place in an empty parking lot which is a symbol of our singularly isolated posts, but placed in a location where it can be easily seen by many.”

Abstract Expressionist Gifs by Xponentialdesign
Cross Connect favorite Xponentialdesign is Dominic Pons of the Montreal suburbs and he primarily makes his living selling motion design templates and loops on Videohive. The loops he creates on Tumblr are his research lab, and by design he works in many different styles. This ‘research’ is often visually compelling and here you can see one strand of his work that to me really stands out. It echoes the work of great abstract expressionist painters like Jackson Pollock and Cy Twombly, work that always had a strong sense of motion. These gifs are the tangible manifestation of that. True action painting. I wonder what Clement Greenberg would think.

This year’s best halloween party goes to these Japanese art students -
I wish I could silence questions in my brain. Always nagging me, always judging me. I judge myself. I judge the others around me. I take stake in my own life based on what I see others doing theirs. Is it my age? Probably not. I think I've always been this way. I know I have. It just seems the older I get, I don't get any wiser. These are things I should be over by now. I'm no longer a confused 17 year old girl trying to find a stake in life. But I'm not much different now, I'm 24 years old doing the same. My sense of purpose senseless. My compass, directionless. I don't bleed on the paper like I used to. I don't even try. And I see everybody being happy. And I have so much. Yet I'm not happy. I don't know how to be. I think it's just a weird time for me. Where I feel a little hopeless, a little helpless, completely useless. And I could build myself up, but I can tear myself down just as fast. Use the same building blocks and distort them until they're black, until they don't mean anything. I don't feel the way I used to feel. And I'm scared. Because I don't want this to be me for the rest of my days.
Friendly reminder
“Doing your best” does not mean working yourself to the point of a mental breakdown.
this one still smashes me in the face ten times a year. do not ignore pain, it’s no longer your best at that point
it’s no longer your best at that point

I dreamed that I killed you and Danny. But I didn’t just kill ya. I cut you up in little pieces. Oh my God. I must be losing my mind.
You are allowed to feel and express yourself however you feel comfortable, okay?
