âWorks of Visual Works â State of the Art Digital Artâ
Square Enix and Ooka Makoto Kotoba Museum are holding âWorks of Visual Works â State of the Art Digital Artâ exhibition in Mishima, Japan. The exhibition offers a great opportunity for visitors to get a behind-the-scenes look at Square Enixâs standard-setting CGI movie production and learn how everything comes together into a final product.
Visual Worksâ impressive digital art is also put on display and passionate fans will be able to see close-ups of high quality wall prints featuring character renders we have never seen before of Lightning (Final Fantasy XIII), Yuna, Tidus (Final Fantasy X), Warrior of Light (Final Fantasy XIV), Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII Remake), Ace (Final Fantasy Type-0) Hatsune Miku or Katagiri Kyoka (Gunslinger Stratos).

Behind-the-Scenes Documentaries
There are numerous screens playing short documentaries about games such as Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIV and Dragon Quest. These videos feature scenes that didnât make to the final cut, showcase how amazingly details characters and immersive worlds are constructed and follow the production progress from lighting to motion capture and beyond. In addition to video games, you will get to see the creation flow of commercials like Hatsune Miku x Tetsuya Nomura, which was originally created for Hatsune Miku Expo 2014.
If you have been following Square Enix news for a few years, it wonât be surprising to hear about their high production values. In order to reach realism and capture impressive amount of details, they often create real things such as hairstyles, armour and other items for the digital productions. This is why Square Enix has brought full-sized figures of iconic items such as Cloudâs Buster Sword from Final Fantasy VII to the exhibition. You will also get a closer look at Genesisâ outfit from Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, Aceâs samurai armour from Final Fantasy Type-0  and Gabranthâs armour from Final Fantasy XII.
The âWorks of Visual Worksâ exhibition also has a keynote showcasing the realistic motion capture system thatâs used to capture animations for CGI movies. After that Visual Works will be doing an open interview where the production staff answer to questions, explain their own experiences and how state of the art digital movies come to alive. Alongside everything else, visitors have a chance to try out a unique Virtual Reality experience by Visuals Works as well.
