People who have more followers are undoubtedly more skilled. That's why they have more followers. Not hate, simply pointing out your statement doesn't make sense. :)
I am assuming that you are referring to my ‘news flash’ on [ this ] post which states:
Let me begin by saying that you are entitled to youropinion, as wrong as it may be.
Why is it wrong?
Hold on, I’ll break it down for you.
Follower count is not based on skill alone; there are manycontributing factors that you have to take into consideration.
— People follow for a myriad of reasons. Some follow becausethey are your friends. Some follow because they like your personality in theooc posts you make. Some follow because they love the character. Some followbecause they like your writing style. Some follow because they saw a promo and they are curious. Do any of those things make you more ‘quality’than someone else?
No.
— People follow blogs because they pop up in searches or ontheir sidebar. Does this make that blog better than another with a similarmuse?
No.
— Age of the blog. Obviously someone who has an establishedblog is going to have more followers than someone who makes one today. Doesthat mean they’re a better role player or writer?
No.
Here’s a perfect example.
Let’s say Veronica Roth decided to make a role play blogthis morning, She makes a Tris (or a Four or a Eric) and keeps her identity asecret, using a mun ‘alias’ so no one knows who she is. If we go by your convolutedlogic, her portrayal/writing would be less quality than any of the ones thatwere established before it, because they wouldhave more followers.
Stupid thought, right?
Well guess what? The same thing applies to every blog thatis in existence now or will be made in the future—to compare the ‘quality’ ofone against the other based on the number of followers is just dumb as fuck.
I’m going to go a step further and touch on the subject of writing—I suggest you hold on to yourhat, cause I’m probably about to shock the shit out of you. It’s a life lessonyou might want to commit to memory.
Want to know what makes a quality writer?
—It has nothing to do with how many people follow you
—It has nothing to do with how many replies or starters you post, or whether or not theyare mini novellas.
—It has nothing to do with how many typos you make, or howmany little grammar and spelling snafus slip by you.
—It has nothing to do with whether or not you write originalfiction or fan fiction or poems or short stories or epic sagas.
—It has nothing to do with whether or not you write full timeor part time or are a professional writer or just some teenager learning thecraft.
—It has nothing to do with being published by a traditionalpublishing house. (Trust me—they’re a pain in the ass to deal with and notworth the fucking headache.)
So…what makes a quality writer?
Writing something thatpeople enjoy reading.
