Anastasia had been wondering rather aimlessly through the castle, no real destination on her mind- she figured she’d just go wherever her feet took her. Granted it wasn’t the smartest of ideas, with her track recorded she was almost guaranteed to get lost- but she really didn’t care. She was bored, and what better to cure her boredom? If only she had some company, Sasha was off doing stuff with the champions, and she hadn’t the slightest clue where Felix was, so she was pretty much on her own. That changed when she spotted Veronica’s bright red hair, they didn’t know each other well, but they’d gotten along before. “It’s all good!” she replied with a wide grin, “I would love to accompany you!” 

Veronica smiled, happy that they didn’t sound too awkward. “I might need your help picking out a book though, if you don’t mind of course. I feel like I’ve almost read every book this place has on it’s shelf,” they chuckled as the two continued down the hallway.They might have over exaggerated a bit, but it has honestly felt like they have read every book this school has to offer. They glanced at their shoes trying to remember how to make small talk,”Oh and thanks for coming with me by the way.”

“No don’t be sorry. That’s a very artistic way to look at things.” Alice cocked her head and tried to see the sunset through the girls descriptive eyes. “Are you and artist or something?”

They smiled,”Yeah, actually. I’ve never really been all that good with it but it is something that I’ve always been drawn too.” They’ve probably read enough books about art and shading to fill a small book store, but they were afraid that she would probably think that random tid bit would a lot for just have meeting. “My favorite type of drawing to do has to be pastels, because it’s kind of fun to watch the colors blend together underneath my finger tip. It’s actually of on my favorite ways to draw sunsets.” They chuckled, hoping they didn’t sound too awkward.

Veronica walked down the hallway, there nose in a book as if they didn’t already have enough of an issue not walking into people walking regularly.The thought of the night where they actually did run into someone crossed their mind, and in hopes of that not happening again they looked up to actually watch their surroundings. “Oh hey I almost didn’t see you there, you want to head down to the library? I’m needing to return this book and find another, but not sure which one quite yet.” They always walked into the library with no specific book in mind and coming out with one they never thought they would read or didn’t even know existed.

Alice sat her feet swinging off the edge of the window sill “It’s beautiful isn’t it?” the girl asked out loud sensing she was no longer the only one in the room. Her head turned around to look at the person with her “The sunset.” She nodded out the window explaining everything she meant. “My mum used to say ‘sunsets are proof even bad days end beautifully’. Now I don’t know if I believe that load of bullocks but they are pretty. Don’t you think?”

Veronica followed the other girl’s gaze,” It is really beautiful, and it kind of does have a really poetic feel to it to be completely honest.” Thinking about the many of times they sat by the Great Lake reading whatever book seemed the best at the time under the redish yellow-y tones that danced around the top of the water. “It’s like one big, beautiful paintings where the colors swirl perfectly, blending in the most fascinating ways.” They stopped realizing that they probably said too much,” I-I’m sorry for rambling.”

“Well if you didn’t understand 50% of it before now, another three hours of cramming won’t get you anywhere. Sleep’ll actually make your tiny little brain work better when you’re writing.” He shrugged, and sighed, pulling out his wand and waving it, making all their notes and books fly back into a neat pile. “Would you stop sniffling and just pick your stuff up, instead of pretending you’re not crying. This is starting to exhaust me.” He scoffed. “I stopped making mistakes after I turned 10 years old. Mistakes and accidents are for children. My parents raised me better than to do foolish things now.”

Veronica blinked,” Oh, thanks...” He might have been mean, but he did help them out. They reached down and grabbed their stuff that sat at their feet. “And yeah, I guess you have a point. I should probably head to bed.” They made eye contact with him for a brief second. “You should probably take your own advise and get some rest too.”

“I’ve definitely been told that a few times. Too bad it never sticks.” He laughed when their voice cracked, nudging at one of their books with his foot to flip it over. “You sound like you’re about to cry now, honestly. Pull yourself together. Life is not all sunshines and roses and sometimes when you do stupid things, they have consequences. Like people telling you you’re an idiot.” He watched them crawl around to gather their notes and crossed his arms, not bothering to kneel down and help. “You’re not going to learn anything new this late anyways. Might as well get a full night of sleep instead, if you ask me.”

Veronica sighed,” I pretty much understand maybe 50%, potions has never been my strongest subject...” They deep down knew that it was too late and sleep would be a good thing to go do, but out of spite they don’t want him to be right. “Like I said I’m not going to cry. I never did say the world was full of sunshine and roses, just a little human decency would be appreciated.” A little tear betraying their trust slipped out, they knew but they didn’t care at this point. “Have you not made a mistake, or even did something on accident?” As another tear leaked through the crack.

Valentino let out a stream of curses in Spanish when someone ran into him suddenly. He glared at the person in front of him, wrinkling his nose in disgust and brushing off his robes. “Yeah. You should’ve been. Stuttering the word sorry over and over isn’t going to suddenly change that.” He stared at them, still on the ground surrounded by notes. “For Pendragon’s sake, you’re like a two-legged shelter cat or something, putting you out of your misery would be more kind than letting you stumble around looking at things with that pathetic look on your face. Can you pick up your notes or do you need me to hold your hand and rub your back while you cry a bit first?”

They looked down at his feet and mumbled,” So so I take it you’re the one with the attitude problem?” They felt small, they didn’t like to feel small, especially when someone is being rude for an accident. “I’m sorry, you don’t have to be so, so cruel, it was an accident. Besides I wouldn’t cry in front of you, you’re mean.” Though their voice sounded choked up as if they in fact are about to cry. Crawling around to gather up their notes, they stood up glancing at his face for a second and back to the ground. “I was just trying to continue studying, because there is a potions test tomorrow, and...,” they sighed, mumbling the last part,” you do not care.”

Veronica had been in the library all night, and was still not 100% ready for the potions test the next morning. The potions professor was always the one to give hints about having a pop quiz within that week. They only knew it was tomorrow because the professor accidentally told everyone. They stared at their notes hoping maybe staring at them will get them burned into their mind. Walking around the corner, nose deep into the steps of making Liquid Luck, they ran into a form. Causing them to drop everything in their hands and sent them down hard on their butt. “O-oh, I’m so sorry, I, uh, I should have been paying more attention. I’m really sorry.”

Anastasia couldn’t help but smile at the other’s offer, “I would love to tag along, that is if you really didn’t mind,” she responded with her best attempt to not seem too eager. “I’ve gotten lost more times than I can count,” she laughed, it was a slight exaggeration but it didn’t hurt anyone. “Koldovstoretz is far easier to navigate,” she admitted with a small laugh as she ran her fingers through her hair. 

“Yeah, I don’t mind,” Veronica said, “Follow me, the library is this way.” They smiled,” To be honest I feel that Beauxbatons is a lot easier to navigate then here too. But it’s probably because those are the schools we are used to.” They dropped their glance to the floor, feeling silly for stating something she probably already knew. “So what’s at the library you need?”

“I am so glad that I found you!” Anastasia exclaimed as she approached the person standing in front of her, a wide smile plastered across her face. “I have been wandering out this wing for what feels like hours!” she explained, she was exaggerating- but she didn’t care- she was finally glad to find another living being. This part of the castle was rather- gross, and she wanted to leave. “Can you please tell me how to find the library?” she asked them,her eyes widening as she waited for an answer.

“Uh, yeah, actually I was heading that way right now, if you would like to tag along,” they said smiling shyly. “I’ve found that it is rather easy to get lost in if you’re not careful.” They looked up meeting her eyes for a second and then looked a little bit past her head. A technique they had learned to make it look like they were being polite and making eye contact with out actually doing that. “Not quite like what we’re used to,heh, I guess.”
