how they see each other:

the rest of the family is trying to have Eli filed as a missing person and institutionalized as an adult, just as they did when he was a teenager before "The Incident". meanwhile hes moved in with Russ without their knowledge and Russ trying to get him to stop drinking feels like just another betrayal in a life hes not sure he wants to live anymore.
