Currently crowdfunding on BackerKit, A Fistful of Stars is intergalactic space train setting/adventure book. The project is by STATIONS (An Infinity of Ships, I Don't Belong Here), with art by Rob Turpin, layout by Lone Archivist and writing by me!
Step aboard the Green Light Express abd explore its array of high tech grav-carriages, meet eccentric passengers, pick up dangerous exterior maintenance work for spare cash, and explore four great adventures set on the train.
I think trains are really interesting as a setting. The liminality of the space, time spent in transition. The way it puts a class system under the microscope. The way a railroad impacts the communities and environments it cuts through. In western's trains often symbolise a quote unquote idea of progress, they can signify the winding down of the wild west period, and I was interested to see what those semiotics could mean in a space western setting.
That's all stuff I'm exploring in the writing, in the atmosphere and in trying to make the setting a pressure cooker. Adventure wise we've got assassinations, crime scenes, robberies, truly crooked customers and pasts that won't leave their victims alone.
Get a ticket, why don't ya?
