The Honest Truth

Although people say they are not to be lied to

if they do not like the truth then there will be an ensue.

In certain cases it would be uncouth

and almost absurd to speak the naked truth

An Iranian director gave an acceptance speech to his people when he accepted an Academy Award.

The government was definitely not on board.

The news agency lied to the people and changed his speech,

Best Friends? Not Sure

Philinte, I don't agree with you when you said,"I take men as they are, or let them be, and teach my soul to bear their frailty." How are people supposed to know the truth when you constantly tell them whatever they want to hear? When you do this you are lying to them and letting them believe something that isn't true. I know we are best friends, but I'm not sure if I can deal with how fake you are for much longer. You are the type of person that makes me despise this society so much.

Honest Relief

I finally think someone feels the same way that I do about honesty! I was so delighted when I heard Eliante say, "I'm not the one to back you in a matter of this kind: I'm all for those who frankly speak their mind." Thank you for advising Celimene to choose which guy she loves so the rest can move on. It's nice to see that Eliante encourages me to stand up for my values. Of course I'm sure Celimene can see that I truly love her the most and I'm confident she'll choose me to be with forever.

When I was thinking about Celimene, I told Philinte, "I swear I cannot manage not to love her. Her charm outweighs her faults." Even though Celimene behaves like the people I can't stand by talking behind people's backs and lying to their faces, I still love her. I desperately want to be with her forever. Because of the way I feel, I can overlook her flaws.

Angry Oronte

Today after Oronte read me his sonnet, I said, "It's not at all surprising that you should have your reasons; permit me to have mine for thinking that you cannot write a line." I don't understand why he became so upset with me. At the beginning I even sugar coated my response to make it sound a little nicer. I was simply trying to tell him the truth about how his sonnet really sounded. I think Oronte should be thanking me.

Friendless

When I was talking to Philinte, I told him,"I choose, sir, to be chosen; and in fine, the friend of mankind is no friend of mine." I have no interest in being friends with anyone in my society. They all are fake and liars. I think true friends should always be honest to one another, even if the other's feelings may be hurt.
