glitterconjuration:
She blinked a few times at the screeching, but didn’t seem as put-out as she could be. Rather, she adjusted where she was perched on her knees to be able to lean on the table. “Y’ain’t from around here, I take’t. Me neither, no worries on that part…So long as y’got some proper worms in your brain-box, I don’t rightly care.”
The gnome’s brows arched over dark blue eyes, turning her overly-polite expression curious. She leaned forward and tapped her fingers along the edges of her spellbook with a hum, the black pages seemingly blank again once it was out in full light. “And well… It’s just trying to broaden my base of knowledge. Besides, knowing how to take out some basher or otherwise keep out of the Dead Book if I’m caught out could be useful some day, y’know?”
There’s more to it than that, but well.
Hearing the gnome speak, the ettercap adjusted his straw hat and scratched the top of his head. Seems she was saying things he was unfamiliar with. Pointing at her, she heard him speak again. “Worms in the brain-box. Huh. I ain’t never heard that one ‘fore.”
But he seemed to understand what she was saying otherwise. It was important to know spells in a fight, and even more important to keep alive. Placing his spell book on the table, he began flipping through the pages. What all did he have? Absorb Elements, Comprehend Languages, Jump... Ah! Here’s one. Magic Missile! Taking his clawed finger, he pointed to the spell in his book to show her.
