I wonder how Jack feels about his birthday? Is something he celebrates? Does he remember when it is? (Like some people don't deem their own birthdays special and lowkey forget when it is; some people are just bad at remembering dates)

Was it something his father remembered and then they went out to... Idk, collect berries flowers and made something sweet? A special treat that was rarely seen at their house? And Jack never remembered the day himself, it was always his dad who surprised him with a visit to the woods, where they picked flower (berries aren't in season now, at least not here) and went back to their house where the dad made some kind of a treat off of honey, flour, eggs and milk. Eggs and milk he got from a local farmer by trading something he had gotten earlier while hunting. And then they'd stay in, make a nice meal with what they had, and just talked

Just talked and talked, maybe played some kind of a game

I wonder if you asked Jack when his birthday is, would he be able to give a date? Or would he just say something like "Idk, when the days are long, but not yet hot. Late spring when the bluebells are still blooming, but irises aren't. When spring is about to turn to summer"

I wonder if he knows how to celebrate birthdays, if it's not someone else holding him a party

Jack who once spent his birthdays alone with his father during his childhood. Ever since he lost his father and had no one left to rely on, he has spent every single birthday by himself.

On the day itself, he even forgets that it’s his own birthday. Because he remembers his father’s death anniversary far more clearly than his own, he probably only realizes it when he thinks,

“It’s been 15 years since that day… so I’m 28 this year.”

Captains like Fuegoleon and Yami, who are deeply admired by their subordinates, are probably celebrated every year with their squad members carrying them around, showering them with “Congratulations, Captain! Please keep being the best captain ever!” all day long surrounded by drinks, cake, and presents.

But Jack… when his birthday comes, does he return to that mountain where he spent his early years and lost his father?

Does he sit at the place where he once buried him, watching the sun set together with the father he can no longer touch?

Laying out the berries his father picked for him that day on the small grave, spending yet another birthday surrounded by wild rabbits and birds？

I think Jack must be around 31 years old in the story by now, but the thought of him still running around past 30 with his belly out, cawing 'ka-ka' like that… it honestly makes me want to cry.

And Yami isn't even there with him. Jack, what are you doing all alone right now?
