Rise & Set: The Prerequisite ‘Summer Style’

Summer brings about a lot of impromptu events, and one should be able to quickly go from work, to happy hour(s), to the pool, or wherever the fun-loving season takes you. Chad keeps it cool and relaxed with casual, patterned button downs, lightweight shorts, and ball caps to keep the hot Austin sun off his face. 

Chad’s favorite aspect of summer dressing: “Comfort is taken into account as well as style.”

New season, new anticipation. Chad looks forward to finishing his AmeriCorps VISTA term, keeping his options numerous and open, and keeping his brain going full speed with more reading and writing.

Text, April 29, 1868. The Ku Klux Klan. Published in the Louisiana Democrat. Sheriff of Rapides Parish summons 200 African American men to chase away the Ku Klux Klan in Alexandria Louisiana. The Klan was threatening death and destruction to all “Radicals.” The article seems to allude to a drawing or sketch not found in the WPA’s transcription. Spoiler: they made a pact never to argue and took self-imposed time-outs when they lapsed. One broke his leg and they cared for him so well it healed perfectly. They planted a vegetable garden and kept their spirits up singing along to a guitar they fashioned from driftwood and a coconut shell. (Article is weirdly focused on the white guy who rescued them, though.)
